I think you misunderstand ProtoGunner. A lot of mesmer mains are critical because they care a lot about the class. They see problems with the class, and they see that mirage doesn’t address those problems, and it is upsetting.

I mean, look at chrono. 3 major traits were designed around reducing problems with shatters. 1 of them was designed to help the shatters land, since it was so easy to outrun them. And the other 2 were designed around trying to (in a very OP manner at first) reduce the negative impact that shattering had on our illusion mechanic. That’s 3 out of 9 major traits, 33% of them. Imagine how much more that class could have been if instead Anet had fixed those issues at the core mesmer level, and let chrono be a standalone spec that didn’t just bandaid mesmer problems? It would have had 3 more, very interesting, traits to play with. People, in general, stopped caring because Chrono was made overpowered at first, like every gen1 elite spec.

Now we get to mirage, that actually has the opposite problem. Nothing in mirage tries to fix problems with core mesmer, so these problems come glaring back at us. And now people are upset, because we really deserve to have these problems looked at and fixed. And mirage neither fixes them nor bandaids them.

What I think that you, and a lot of other mirage supporters, are missing is that a class CAN be fun to play without it being designed well. A lot of the complaints about mirage are coming from the fact that it was not designed well at all. And ANet admitted that to us when they admitted they designed it around the name instead of around the mechanic.

Thank-you so much for being a voice! Exactly what I wanted to say to but then when it was mentioned above about the “XX amount of experience” which a lot of us have to – it seems some people still love to live inside the box and not outside of it.

Again, we have one week left so let’s hope the final product will bring the Mirage on par to that of the Chronomancer or even more.

I play Mirage, I had a lot of fun playing it. Watch WPs video, it really shows a lot of synergies etc. I don’t know why Mirage has such a negative backlash. If I never was in the forums, I though everyone is excited about it. I first planned to max out scourge but I think I go with Mirage be cause it was so much fun.

Well for some of us who’ve put in more hours in Mirage to test it out in WvW and PvP, there is ALOT of fixes and adjustments that NEED to be made to the elite. Yeah it may be “fun” PvE wise but comparing it to the other 8 elites, they all seemed to have gotten more love and are more loaded as opposed to the Mirage.

I’d go in depth as to why there’s negative backlash but for us who’ve put in a lot of time and care towards the Mesmer and its elites, have posted enough feedback on it both on here and supposedly Reddit.

(1 week left, here’s hoping for the best)

My main concerns for Mirage are Jaunt, Mirage Cloaks duration, Ambushes and traits. If I don’t like what they’ve done to them or barely gave them any changes as for how I want to use them for my build, then I’ll be sticking with Core Mesmer.

Condition equip?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Tseison.4659

Tseison.4659

I do not think condi and power as major stats and precision and ferocity as minor are best stats for condi builds? Expertise (expertise is AFAIK much more important then ferocity?).

What I am not really sure about is balancing crit chance and condi duration….

And you are correct. We aren’t like the rest of the better damaging professions and Mesmers are more of a Condition/Suppport/Utility class. So when it comes to build you don’t really need the ferocity unless you want to go full power but Mirage having tested it on all beta weekends and stress tests would be more ideal ran as condition.

Obviously we have a variety of Mesmer players out there who play differently so you can build however YOU see fit.

I myself run Full Viper Weapons & Gear. Then Sinister trinkets and runes of perplexity. IF they change Mirage Mirrors, ambushes, Cloak etc… then maybe I’ll take time of the adventurer. Scep/Torb/Sw in PvE and WvW and I’m pretty much able to hold my own.

Good luck!

Staff attack speed buff request

in Mesmer

Posted by: Tseison.4659

Tseison.4659

Several staff skills really needs to be looked at and adjusted I feel, and not via traits but adjustments to the actual skills. Looking at staff, its a defensive weapon (phase retreat) that can stack some condis and give us some interrupts via chaos storm and gives us easy access to chaos armor. So build on those aspects of it

  • Chaos storm needs a CD of 25-30 seconds, instead of 35 seconds.
  • The auto attack’s aftercast delay needs to be significantly reduced
  • The speed of the auto attack projectile should be increased by 50-100%
  • Winds of Chaos should have less randomness to it. Have vuln be applied every strike to enemies, with 1 of the 2 damaging conditions being applied at random. If it strikes allies, have it apply 2s of regen every strike to allies and also either might or fury. This guarantees that it deals a damaging condition to enemies if it strikes them
  • Chaos armor (the skill not the aura), needs its CD lowered a bit more. This skill is lackluster in that its a 30sec CD on just applying an aura, but I don’t agree with adding a secondary effect, so reduce the CD slightly. If necessary, reduce the duration of chaos armor from this skill to 4 sec to balance.

Chaos Storm should have a longer duration if it’s duration is gonna be 25-30 or 35s and should pump out several conditions, daze and boons at once. Winds of chaos condition durations all need to be increased and have an additional bounce. The phantasam damage done to those with conditions needs to be up more or change the phantasm entirely into a new supportive one if staff is gonna be considered a defensive/support weapon.

Or they can create a F5 that allows you to blink to the mirror that’s currently in the world. If you have multiply mirrors in the world then you’ll be able to blink X amount of times to each one, allowing you to trigger the Cloak better.

Or create a F5 that creates this sort of feigned death by shattering yourself, causing you to detarget and become stealthed for 3s.

The daggers almost share a resemblance with the Komalie’s Sacrificial Blade but has etchings in them that glow a light purple as they are flowing with mesmer magic.

The armor piece you get with this spec is a purple/white goldish butterfly that hugs your arm. When you’re in combat, it shatters into the signature mesmer butterflies that spawn when you shatter. The butterflies hover so gracefully around your character.

Just a small note: _"Yes I will be editing this post here and there to fix/change skills and also add some stuff to it. So currently this post is INCOMPLETE as I wanted to get this out to you guys and will finish it up soon, I promise! Hope you guys like it!"

Elite Specialization : Charmer

in Mesmer

Tseison.4659

STATUS: INCOMPLETE

Hey everyone!

So just created a new Elite Specialization for when we head back over to the Canthan region. This build definitely took me roughly 2 days to think about and work on but I hope you guys like it.This is meant to be a fun idea from pure imagination but hey, if it gets implemented in the game somehow then that will be a bonus!

Enter Mu Kaye-Ling or Mu for short. Mu is an androgynous character. He is friendly, seductive, sassy, sweet, humble and yet a bit feral. Mu grew up as a canthan street rat in Kaineng City. Though his faith and prayers to the Goddess Lyssa were strong,
his latent mesmer gifts remained dormant. It was until he ventured off just to the docks where he noticed the new Empress had ordered some Tengu and few
canthan peasants out of the city forever. It was at that moment that a tengu by the name of Valken Ravenwing commented on his beauty and told him to become
something more so he wouldn’t be flushed out of the city like the rest them. It struck a cord in him and it was then that Mu vowed to better himself as a person
and make enough coin to open up his own lounge – an escape if you will, somewhere far south of the city away from the Empress’ rule. A place for everyone of
any race to call home.

As the years went by, Mu’ delved into thievery by means of using his female-like features to manipulate noble men and guards for their coins. The thrill and
adrenaline is what kept him going, but it was then that people started to talk, to catch on and that was when he became wanted. Then just as some royal guards found his
hiding spot, his powers manifested out of fear and was then able to charm those with his magic, making them see what they wanted to.

He then combined the thievery he had done trying to survive the streets of the city, his looks and his new found power to charm his way to the top. He later then was able
to open his sanctuary calling it the House of Kaye-Ling (or Garden of Mu, whichever sounds better), as he dreamed of. With his new found guardian Valken Ravenwing,
he almost seemed untouchable. It was until that one day, a mysterious hero from overseas sought his technique.

And that is why I decided to call this new Elite Specialization: the Charmer. A person with an atrractive and engaging personality, typically one
who uses this to impress or manipulate others.

The Charmer elite focuses on damage, boons and interrupting your foes. Bringing back a bit of interrupting and fast casting from the original game, with a dash of tricks
from the thief class. This specialization gives you access to daggers, being able to wield both in the main hand and off hand. Mesmers gain access to the new F5 skill Manifest Whip, which allows you to channel chaotic energy into your main hand dagger, manifesting it into an illusionary whip. Giving you range and just a sense of domination to whip your foes hard enough to make them kneel, just as Mu likes’em.

I personally would’ve liked for them to add that ability where you reappear after death (or was it a clone) skill to the Mirage elite spec. They could have it be a 60s or more trait where if you would take fatal damage, it looks like your player is downed but it actually shadowsteps your character away with a bit of health.

Almost like an illusion of weakness sort of thing.

I also agree about being able to place portals wherever you please. At this point, mounts and gliding making anything possible and with the scourge portal now, it only seems fair.

[Feedback] Axe and Ambush Skills

in Mesmer

Posted by: Tseison.4659

Tseison.4659

I like the axe but a part of me feels like the Axe 1 should just have a range of 900 to resemble what the necromancer Axe has and then leave the other twos range the same or give a minor distance increase. I just feel that sword should be the only melee close renege weapon and that’s it.

The gap the Axe has when being in someone’s face is WAY too close and if in pvp facing a warrior or any other melee class that gets in your face, you’re pretty much dead, regardless of the little evade and detarget.

We’re a light armour class that should keep a good distance. Turn Axe into a 900 range weapon, up the damage and that’s it.

tl:dr – (rolls eyes to another winey post on the Mirage)

Once again, fingers crossed but neither have my hopes up that anger will listen to most of our feedback that we have worked so hard to give. But still remaining somewhat hopeful.

Maybe tomorrow’s stress test they fixed a few things BUT if not, here’s hoping they get to some serious work as September is right around the corner.

For the mirage “shatter traits”, they could easily take the illusion/phantasm generation traits from the chronomancer elite, add them to the mirage and then give the chronomancers something different that fits their theme? More support/defensive/alacrity traits?

Or just have it so that clones don’t shatter when you use a shatter skill BUT the shatter effect will still go off and clones stay alive until killed or replaced. Also give us a new F5 that gradually blends the character with their surroundings some how before ending up being stealthier for xx amount of seconds. Or combust into a cloud of sand that grants a longer mirage Cloak, inflicts blind and confusion?

Just a thought…

Possible solution for Mirage Mirror conflict

in Mesmer

Posted by: Tseison.4659

Tseison.4659

Might sound harsh but he does make a valid point. Anet was just very lazy when working on the Mirage elite and with this stress test tomorrow MAYBE they changed up a few things IF they allow us to use the specs in PVE.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if no changes were done. They just better get to work on the needed changes as September is right around the corner….

[Concern] Will Anet actually fix the Mirage?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Tseison.4659

Tseison.4659

The “Mirage is junk and needs to be completely re-designed” crowd will almost certainly be disappointed and to them Mirage will likely never be a play-style they enjoy.

My problem is – Scourge feels more Mesmer-y them Mirage :/
On the other side – it is not a real problem as I can simply play my Necro… <shrug>

Right?!!! They could’ve EASILY introduced hexes and literally give mesmers a reverse “barrier” in a way.

But maybe when we go to cantha.

[Concern] Will Anet actually fix the Mirage?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Tseison.4659

Tseison.4659

Personally, I have zero faith in them in fixing Mirage before launch. They’re just like every other company out there (gaming and non gaming). They won’t listen to majority of the feedback and the ones that they DO consider – needs to be run by x department and then x department and then approved by said person and who knows how long that’ll take.

When Mirage hits live and if: Jaunt, Mirage Mirrors, Axe, Ambushes, Traits and any other things we as a Mesmer community came together to discuss about – isn’t fixed, then I won’t be bothering in picking up the Elite and sticking with core Mesmer until they try again in the next expansion.

  • Jaunt Range increased from 400 > 600 OR Range increased from 400 > 900 but only 2 charges.

  • Speed of Sand: You move 25% faster. Now has a 1s duration when you gain Mirage Cloak.
  • Infinite Horizon: Baseline
  • Dune Cloak: Moved to Major Master Trait and replacing Shards of Glass

*I also wanted to add that since Mirage is all about keeping our clones up and not shattering and giving us some form of deception with having them up – PHANTASMAL HASTE needs to affect both Phantasms and Illusions/Clones. Since our clones deal 1 damage and having them attack faster will help with giving the class more of that deception feel since it’s easy to find the real Mesmer when we are the only one attacking faster.

Hi there! <3
So I run full Sinister as it’s really easy for me to survive when it comes to encounters in WvW. On weapons I have Energy x Cleansing and for my utilities I bring: Mirror/MoR/Decoy/Blink/MoI. My utilities do change depending on the professions I’m seeing the most out there on the field. For example I see a lot of thieves (which forever is a questionable class…) so I bring blink for escaping and if I’m seeing every other class then I’ll adapt.

It’s really about practising with your class, predicting your enemies moves and skill usage and if you can – study the heck out of all the classes and builds out there so you can place them in a category and know how to counter them with what set skills you have.

Good luck! xoxo

I like the idea since it reminds me of the skill Kasmeer used against Scarlet but I’d probably make that into a utility skill and as I thought of in a previous post – just combine both Mirage Advance & Illusionary Ambush together.

But yeah ^.^ all Jaunt needs is higher damage and a range increase to 600 or 900 (but if at 900 it should only have then 2 charges).

Considering Reddit thinks Mesmer is OP if they can log into the game, this says a lot about Mirage.

Having seen the threads on reddit I’m trying to avoid it so as not to get worked up by some of the complete lack of sense in some comments. It’s a shame. :/

I hope Mirage survives this and becomes a solid spec in the next month.

My thoughts exactly. The atmosphere there is quite toxic for my taste. I’m just more in love with some of the individuals here who have a passion for the Mesmer class as I do and want to see it change for the better.

Sometimes I wish our mechanic revolved around hexes and depleting health like illusions like what we had in guild wars 1.

I also had the idea that since Shatters really don’t work with Mirage, maybe F1-F4 should be four times the same “spawn Mirage Mirror”-skill, each with their own cooldown so you can household however you want.

Oouuuu!! I like that idea much more!! Your F1-F4s are Mirage Cloaks! Would probably have to be on a moderate cooldown though and duration of Mirage Cloak would need to atleast be something like 2s (something like when having distortion up – 3s would be too much though. Though some might say OP cuz that be a total of 8s to dodge everything.

  • Jaunt Range increased from 400 > 600 OR Range increased from 400 > 900 but only 2 charges.

Mirage Demo Weekend Feedback

Full sinister w/ Rune of the Adventurer.
Weapons: Axe & Torch w/ Sigil of Bursting & Sigil of Energy.
Scepter & Pistol w/ Sigil of Cleansing & Sigil of Energy.
Endurance food etc…

Endurance bar should have a 3rd bar or have traits/skills that better help with receiving endurance.

The mirage mirror being placed on the ground and having us to walk over it seems very tedious and would rather just have the effect affect me as opposed to me walking over to get its effect. Unless the mirage mirror can be picked up by allies too then sure keep it, but since they can’t, then no real point.

Mirage cloaks duration needs to be increased so it’s more noticeable when available. The moment it’s triggered it’s hard to get it off midst combat sometimes.

Mirage Mirrors placed on the ground should affect other mesmers but as I tested, they don’t.

False Oasis heals for too little compared to our other healing skills. A part of me also feels like this skill should grant invisibility?

Crystal Sands is hard to recognize the damage and when you think you’ll damage someone because of the radius of the targeting circle, the shards ends up missing the target and in the end we get wasted damage, confusion and in trade for a mirage mirror that’s too close to the enemy for us to grab and benefit from.

Mirage Advance is alright, a part of me feels like this skill and Illusionary Ambush should be made into one skill and then create another utility that would be more beneficial.

Sand Through Glass should have its distance increased to 400 and should create a mirage mirror where you end up at.

Jaunts range needs to be increased to 600 or 900.

Ambush skills I have no comment on. Animations aren’t that flashy or interesting and seem recycled.

Traits
Self-Deception needs to be removed and changed into something else. We already have enough skills and attacks that generate clones fast enough.

Renewing Oasis I wouldn’t change.

Riddle of Sand I like it but for someone who barely shatters, would this be a better trait if it triggered upon gaining Mirage Cloak?

Nomads Endurance wouldn’t change but for those who want to play mirage as power, I’d add a power attribute increase too?

Shards of Glass the “trigger on chance” can be very unreliable so this should be a base for this elite spec to affect your illusions giving us more ways to gaining mirage cloak.

Mirage Mantle protection duration is unnoticeable and as a major trait, it feels like a waste. This needs to be trashed and redone.

Mirrored Axes I would keep but I’d probably add increasing the attack speed of the axe since it’s attack animation is too slow or increase the attack speed to the axe overall.

Speed of Sand just give it a 1s duration, or remove it and add the 25% movement speed. OR, give it a 1s duration upon gaining mirage cloak and give it a passive that gives us 25% movement speed so we don’t have to feel bad about giving up chrono.

Infinite Horizon fine as it is.

Elusive Mind meh

Dune Cloak meh, this trait doesn’t feel that impactful and should be removed and redone.

Overall my experience with the mirage specialization wasn’t a good one. There wasn’t anything that caught my eye or made me go “wow, that was amazing”. For an elite that “apparently” had some time put into it, it felt like a lazy job and this elite needs to be looked over again before launch 100%.

I don’t know why do they even bother making ambushes for Sword and GS if they’re not gonna interact well with Mirage trait line. Seems really kitten to me.

Tbh I’m more or less fine with the sword & gs ambushes for now: They seem to be useful situationally.

The GS one maybe for power builds though, but then again, which power build uses gs? Maybe in WvW?

The Sword ambush can be used in multiple ways. Clone generating, leap, daze (or stun when traited.) Could be very interesting.

I’m a little dissapointed there are some shatter based traits in the Mirage line when the spec as a whole doesn’t revolve around shattering at all.

The fact that it focuses on clones rather than phantasms kind of suggests that you should be shattering in general.

The main thing that I want to try is a scepter build (the only one with a worthwhile ambish) that summons 3 clones, spams mirage cloak + ambush over and over, then shatter, and works on rebuilding the clones while the mirage cloak granting abilities refresh, before doing it again.

Yeah I mean im sure Anet doesn’t want us to “never shatter” and i’m fine with shattering sometimes when the situation is right.

However shattering isn’t the focus of our elite spec. I think if we want to use shatters with Mirage there are more than enough other spec lines that improve our shatters.

I’m just a bit afraid that if they give us too many shatter traits in Mirage everyone is just going to shatter because it’s better rather than using the clone deception & mirage cloak mechanic.

I agree. That’s why the build I crafted is meant for illusion upkeep, deception and conditions and the occasional shatters (cry of frustration).

I really wish Mesmers weren’t so reliant on summoning illusions and shattering. I wish that was more of a side effect or something you can choose. They should do a overall rework, introduce hexes and maybe have illusions/phantasms be on a duration or something (like necromancers and their minions).

One thing that struck me during the stream was the intensity of the visual effects – especially for something like Jaunt (it’s far to large and bright). I don’t want to go blind with all the crazy visual effects of using some of these skills! xD

I loved Jaunts effects! But I understand how you feel. The effects did seem a bit big so I’m sure they’ll reduce it a bit but here’s hoping they don’t go overkill like they did to auras. I miss my circiular chaos armour

Hey guys, so just finished watching the live stream playback regarding the elites, mainly for Mirage and I must say – everyone else has very flashy and far more interesting elites than what we are getting. I took a few action shots for those who don’t want to check out the video and for those who do want to check out a bit of the gameplay, link is provided: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhBf1Q6gTnY

MIRAGE commentary starts @ 57:47

False Oasis: http://imgur.com/ScTPq87 http://imgur.com/OFmmMsW
Sand Through Glass: http://imgur.com/mMS0y0a http://imgur.com/CVjGrRH
Jaunt: (which will definitely be my go to elite. I love the 3 charges as well!) http://imgur.com/NGqB4j0 http://imgur.com/prBZmer

The other utilities I didn’t really bother since they were very fast but they are meh at best. I was considering in grabbing atleast one of them, but now I think i’ll just stick to my decoy/mirror images/ blink.

Split Surge: http://imgur.com/hED03Sv Is definitely meant for large crowds (WvW blobs) but damage is pretty meh but i’m assuming if spec’d and geared correctly it might be a bit good? This would be great with sigils that proc on crit/hit.

and Mirage Thrust, I literally replayed the video numerous times and I just can’t wrap my mind around how bad it is. It literally is just a lunge and the daze effect was so fast that even with the amount of clones up was barely noticeable.

But again, will try everything out tomorrow and give a proper feedback

Why elite specs will never work

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Tseison.4659

Elite specs do work, I would just prefer newer weapons to be tied to them. I would much rather them release a bunch of new weapons for each class to wield, with new sets of skills etc… then going forward they can just focus on creating new elites for more options on play styles and that’s it.

A part of me has a feeling that down the road they might allow us to equip 2 elites at the same time OR they might just increase the trait lines to 4, one of them being a slot for elites.

But who knows what will happen

Edit: As a Mesmer, it kinda sucks having to get rid of my inspiration tree to replace it with something else or replace it with an elite specialization. Especially if it’s a trait line that houses my condition cleanses etc… so the additional traitline would be great!

Not a fan of the sword ambush either. both GS & Sword ambushes should be damage bursts.
And having you & 3 clones using the sword ambush won’t do much since they’ll attack at the same time anyway, what’s the point of having 3 illusions have a daze at the same time?

My thoughts exactly, they need to be looked at again.
For sword: I would keep the daze but then add this sort of continuous dash or shadowing stepping around the target, hitting them multiple times.

For greatsword: Probably have an illusionary greatsword violently ram into a target, causing a burst of damage and knocking them back (though the knockback would probably not affect the clones) or something like that.

For staff: I’d probably keep the chaos storm but maybe have its radius slightly bigger and duration longer.

I imagine it will very much depend on the Mirage Cloak skills for sword and GS. I’m hoping the sword is something with a nice spike at least.

They are both terrible and do less damage then the autos of the weapon.

Yup, pretty much; https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mirage_Thrust & https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Split_Surge

Looks like i’ll be sticking to Scepter and Axe.

But the interrupt for clones is a bit of a turn off. It’s essentially a daze?

It works for and against us. It’s most useful for a Warden, but applies to all in niche circumstances(notably clone ambush). Warden would keep attacking for several seconds, when what you want is for it to damage your new target now.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the game code has the trigger for illusion death be “is the thing I am currently using my skill on dead? if yes, die.” By interrupting it, this possible edge case is cleared and the illusion will strike the new enemy all the time rather than occasionally just die anyway.

Thanks! <3 Good to know!

As nice as those utilities are, when in PvP, WvW or PvE, it’s important to have atleast some condition cleanses and stun breaks. Yes they are nice in PvE I guess if you’re sustaining clones and not shattering. Illusionary Ambush i’f probably grab since it’ll be good for my build that I’ve come up with for PoF. But the interrupt for clones is a bit of a turn off. It’s essentially a daze?

I think you’ll have to wait till next weekend to test things out with Mirage. Right now I’m really confused as to what kind of Ascended gear I should make. Viper? Mayne just wait till more things are clear maybe?

Yes I do feel like I am in some kind of mid-life build crisis! xD

The change to mantra of recovery, menders purity, and both utility/food items has thrown me a bit.

I’ve tried different combinations of traitlines, heals and utilities (having to take mantra of resolve instead of mirror images if not taking inspiration), and my favourite has been Duelling with deceptive evasion/evasive mirror plus ether feast and mantra of resolve, which has a much better damage output at the expense of some sustain.

Anyway I do agree that things are in a state of flux right now. I’m not entirely happy with this build as I was pre-patch and believe once mirage comes I will be transitioning with some changes.

I can say though in preparation I am beginning to hoard Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew because unless a new endurance food is released with pof I expect this to go up in price as it seems likely to be the best food for mirage, especially hybrid due to might on dodge as well as endurance regen.

In addition I am hoping the Rune of the Lynx makes it to wvw – currently it is a pvp exclusive rune, but if it is released to wvw/pve then it seems like it could be the best choice for movement speed in addition to power/condi damage, to make up for the lack of Time Marches On.

Awww I feel all of you guys pain as well when it comes to builds and itemization!! </3
But I’m currently prepared for the expansion now as I have delved in deep for a new mirage build and I believe I have found THE one that best fits MY play style ^.^ (taking in mind we get to test out the elites next weekend, so won’t know official numbers but the wiki provides me with enough to get an understanding of the route I wish to take)

So I’ll be having 2 sets, one which is pure berserker/Boon for when I run DOM/INSPIR/CHRONO for dungeons, fractals, WvW and just overall open world shenanigans.

Then my newest build will be full sinister, condition, clone and dodge focus. Taking ILLU/DUEL/MIRAG. I WAS going to take Viper or Grieving set but I’ll be having clones constantly up and only shattering when I’m in pvp.

ARMOR
Full Sinister & Trinkets
with rune of adventure (for the endurance on heal)

WEAPONS
Sinister
I’ll be taking AXE+TORCH and SCEPTER+PISTOL.
with Sigil of Cleansing and Sigil of Energy.

DUELING
Critical infusion for obvious reasons. Every crit we get vigor which means more mirage cloak, dodges, evasive mirror, elusive mind and deceptive evasions.

Duelists discipline for our pistol and to work alongside the Sharper Images trait.

And the last traits I’ll weave between either Superiority Complex for PVE and/or Deceptive Evasion for PVP/WvW since I’ll be shattering more in those modes.

ILLUSIONS
Compounding power for PVE and my focus is just on having illusions up at all times without shattering. Then I’d take The Pledge for PvP just so The Prestige is on a shorter cooldown for escaping.

Shattered Strength OR Maim the Disillusioned whichever you prefer.

Malicious Sorcery would be my final trait to grab as scepter will give me more blocks. Master of Fragmentation could be optional too but I won’t be using it.

MIRAGE
Riddle of Sand since we’d be popping in and out of mirage cloak often to proc an ambush assault. Or can grab Renewing Oasis to help with reducing conditions but I don’t feel that it’s that great of a trait. But depends on your style.

Shards of Glass for when I’m shattering but if I’ll be in PVE then I’ll take the Mirrored Axes.

Elusive Mind since it will hands down be the bread and butter for survivability.

Will test things out better during the next beta weekend xoxo

My first experience with the new map was a good experience. I’m definitely liking how easy it is to transverse to areas without having to go up/down numerous of layers/levels like it is in HoT.

I love the dying of the mounts but mainly can’t wait for my true mount, The Skimmer.

Overall it’s nice, but I would’ve rather been able to play the elite Specializations first since myself and I’m sure with plenty others wanted to try those out more…

I personally feel that phantasms should be removed from weapons and have a new feature where, every 10 or 8s, a phantasm depending on the weapon you have on passively summons on the target you are fighting. Isn’t affected by shatters and dies when killed. (Could only have 1 up at a time or 2) Just an idea though.

Do you think a hybrid build like this one could work with Mirage? Or will a pure condi spec work better?

Well from looking at some videos and images of the skills and utilities that we get – which in my opinion seem lacklustre compared to what other classes are getting BUT i’m not gonna jump to conclusions just yet until I get to properly test the new Elite this weekend.

BUT the mostly will be running: PWR/VIT/COND/TOUGH for pvp since it’s come to the point where theres just way too much cleansing abilities, foods etc… to grab vipers for increase condition duration when they’ll just slide right off immediately AND also in the mirage traits, theres points that increase duration anyways so.

Build would be something a little like this: (Sword will be axe)
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQRArf8akknhyrBhGgvckyK87oB-TByHABAcQAEU9ny0PUkyPlfAADcGAqTJIv7PQKAmEbB-e

Take in mind everyones play style is different and unique to said player so – a build can work for some and not work for others. Play how YOU want to play. I also don’t shatter much in pvp since I like the whole deception that comes with this new elite. IF chrono and mirage were able to be selected at the same time then sure i would shatter but I don’t believe shattering will be necessary anymore for the mirage elite. But that’s my opinion.

PVE i’d probably run: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQRArf8qkknxC0QR1gQ7SaiCZAGxOB-TByCQBLb/Bv9AAuwZA4gq/kIlgZR5HAOIA3T/ApAgYZF-e

Again, these are just ideas nothing solid yet until I get to test out everything this weekend.
