I was hoping they would go all out, and maybe steal the ending from the original Star Wars, have all the citizens lined up cheering, have the Queen show up and a few other racial Dignitaries, and maybe hand out some medals. A few fireworks and some cake
Then a nice speech about hope , rebuilding, and maybe a hint to watch the skies for future evils coming…

The end of the living story for me was rather anti-climatic and sad. A cutscene that wouldn’t load for me, and a lame epilogue of meaningless babble in a seedy bar. The end of Zhaitan/ personal story had more feeling than that, atleast it felt sorta like a party. LA is in ruins and none of the NPCs seem to care or have much to say, nobody really seems concerned an Elder dragon may have woke up, so really why should I care either?
Everything I have read about any new content seems so vague and wishy washy, like its a big secret. I don’t really see anything atm to get excited about. So I guess things go back to normal, grind the same old dungeons/ fractals, re-explore the same old maps, switch back and forth between the same old toons . Do some pvp/wvw or hop in the champ train and do the mindless zerg in quest for gold.
The living story was a big reason I kept coming back, but now its gone, boredom is going to get the best of me. I love the game for many reasons and don’t really want to find entertainment elsewhere, but sadly I have already started downloading other second rate free to play games, to keep me amused. My days spent in GW are going to be fewer and fewer, and I will regain a new interest if and when this so called “future” gets here.
Numerous people have been having this problem.
Wiki exerpt…“The White Mantle retreated to the Maguuma Jungle, where they have thrived in secret, even without the guidance of their false gods, hoping to one day return.” We see a few of them hiding on the outskirts of Brisban, so if any new content leads deeper into Maguuma (maybe Magus Falls) looking for Mordremoth I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of the White Mantle.
Lions Arch has always been there, and probably always will. Its changed a lot, been ruined and rebuilt before. One key factor above and beyond it being a historical symbol of perseverance, its PRIME real estate. Its central to the whole continent and the best seaport location. 3 words- location, location, location…
I don’t know how you all do it considering the cost of slots. I have an full 80 for every class. One spare toon I made the other day cause I was getting bored. Although I do appreciate the fun of rolling new toons, I just cant seem to get motivated to level it. Half my guys just sit and collect dust most days, occasionally coming out for a specific event or use. My last slot I just have for random pvp creation moods. Someday hopefully we could see a new race or class, until then Im done.
What do you do with all your time, that you don’t have dragonite ore…I have a full set of asc armor, 4-5 weapons, and still 20-30 stacks left over
two thumbs up………!
So despite my better judgement, I keep coming back for more. I lost count how many hologram kills I have so far, and I swear the best drop I got (just once) was an exotic valued maybe 2g. Normal routine is show up 1/2hr early or more to get a spot not in overflow, then another 1/2 for fighting. A couple hrs of work a day for what is normally for me 6 greens per chest >.<.
Now yes I know a few of you are gonna brag about your kitten Scarlets Kiss…if you do so here, kiss my kitten.
How many other think the loot sux? Would it be to much to ask to put a gold or couple in there, for those of us with lousy luck?
There is more to the game than just pvp, there are actually players who enjoy simple pve, and some that even enjoy stacking 25 bleed on a pve crowd with a quick blossom spam and stealth for initiative, then goin stealth and watching them drop like flies… nerfing all the thiefs skills for pvp spikes would not impress the pve types
Granted for pve 25 stacks of bleed is usually overkill, and most large crowds are dead by 15, but its still fun to try… and the numbers fly like crazy, even not running full conditions..so you did put 25 stacks of bleed on a normal mob and it’s still alive, while on the other hand you would kill it faster with auto attack….just great. :|
Its an aoe, the 25 stacks was simply a demonstration how fast you can apply 25. On a normal mob that’s not very easy :P So that’s 25 stacks on 5 mobs, in seconds, how fast you can you spike 5 mobs? In a huge crowd, I bet I can drop 20 mobs a heck of a lot faster than you can spike them.
Medium armor definitely needs more variety. heavy and light have a lot more choices, we have one.. a long overcoat >.< Female characters have it a bit luckier…

@ nGumball, much as I appreciate the feedback, reposting vague wishy washy Anet statements doesn’t tell us any thing…
So I have a level 80 fully equipped for each class, I have world completion, I have a decent pvp and wvw rank, I run fractals and dungeons. Yet I still feel kinda like the title “been there done that”. Im not a big fan of repetition, I play to explore and experience new adventures. That’s one big reason I love the living story, but since this saga is coming to a close Im a little concerned boredom is gonna sink in.
I get the impression, future plans for GW are some sorta big secret. Is it perhaps you don’t want to leave us with false hope, or feel the pressure of timelines?
My question after all the rambling is this..Whats next? When might some of it happen?
Can we expect any expansion type content, or a new race, or a new class? What about Elona or Cantha? How long before the next living story starts?
I don’t expect any definitive dates or timelines, I don’t expect you to ruin any surprises but atleast give us a glimmer of hope for the coming days …how just a few ideas. Im mostly content here, and don’t want to go try and find entertainment in some other MMO.

It does for sure work against knights reflect conditions…getting rdy to test vs holos… and yes, even vs blue holo with shield up, and hitting for 0 it does work

I saw him show up, in a spot we definitely didn’t need him to be, making a mess of things

Is it just me , or our damage numbers lower? Being a ranged character I have a good idea what kind of numbers I have been putting up the last 2 days. After patch they seem significantly lower? Also a few days ago there was like 25-30 of us and we downed a knight in about 8 mins or so, tonight after patch 30 of us could barley get one to 1/2 health in the 15 min timer duration…
“To encourage players to split up, the boon from the associated Attunement Pool will now be required in order to damage each Assault Knight, and only 50 players can have the attunement for each color simultaneously”. ..interesting patch
Wish I had a gold piece for everyone that called me a name when I tried to encourage it :P
nobody cares about getting the 6 min,
Seen others suggest. Even one tried to suggest an inbetween option.
(Split for two and then everybody goes for the last knight…which should finish them off on time. The idea was totally ignored)
The topic was not entirely about this event , or the one simple objective of 6 mins, it was about principal, and tactics..and possibly future objectives…
So this is just my humble opinion and its based on 2 1/2 days of doing this new event.
To me it appears this entire event was designed to be a 3 pronged attack. Marionette was a good example of dividing our forces is possible. I have been doing the events since they started and have seen many successes and many fails. I will admit yes, running a big zerg does get the job done.
However, I did one run in a quiet overflow, and without much effort or co-ordination we split the 3 assault knights using maybe ( I estimate) 25-30 people on each. Without much planning we burned down all 3 in less that 8 mins, leading me to believe 6 mins is very possible. However when I tried to explain my experience in map chat, I was immediately jumped on by numerous players, and called several kitten names for trying to resist or influence the zerg.
Th e hologram fight is another example. I did a fight last night, with the unusual pleasure of having a group willing to work together. We killed the colors at the same time using small groups. As a result we skipped all the extra adds, and finished the battle with plenty of time left on the clock. This morning I tried to explain this tactic in chat, and was once again pounced upon by a quite a few players, and one commander in particular who was enthusiastically shouting commands in CAPS. The zerg followed his lead, we lost numerous players to the adds, chaos ensued and we ended up just barely squeaking out a win with less than 30 secs left. Needless to say, that commander was quick to point out how right he was, and how wrong I was :/
So, am I crazy for thinking there just might be another way? Is there anyone out there that might also have a different way of thinking? Is “zerg” all we know? What do we do later for future events that also require thinking outside the box? Im guessing there may be a few who agree zerg is not the only way, but Im expecting (like I did in map chat) a barrage of comments telling me what a fool I am.

After many many failed attempts, stumbled on an easier solution… my party of 3 went in, I rushed her, and trigged her aoe lightning, got knocked back, and my 2 friends a few steps behind me, walked up and double stomped her… done
“Okay i just tried this tactic again and it worked :
Attack on Stage 1 only with the white buff the prime Holo for about 10 seconds… then go afk for the rest of the fight in the safe corner…. done…”
HAHA..thats awesome bud, gj you got the achieve… I just did a run where Im sure another 20 people or so decided to follow your lead… I don’t blame you, but that definitely shows the counter productive nature of this whole achieve
One thing I find annoying about the attunement, is standing in a colored circle or passing thru one does not refresh the attunement you have. 30 secs of attunement just isn’t very helpful, especially when you are stuck between 2 lasers that last an easy 20 secs >.<
I don’t want an easy fight, but the odds are already stacked against us. Increasing attunement length to maybe 1min per color, and maybe 3 mins for prime attunement, and refreshing everytime you pass thru a circle would help reduce the number of people standing around doing nothing because they have no attunements.
On that note, making an achieve that actually encourages players to not actively engage in battle during a big complex boss fight( hoping to score 5 measly achieve pts) seems rather poorly thought out…

I think if you don’t get in the portal immediately, you are gonna get fried. The first few people thru draw an aggro, and the slow pokes suffer the consequences as they go thru the portal. Ive been hit 3 times so far walking thru. >.<. A simple fix would be delay the first laser a few mins to accommodate this.
The “in Tune” achieve seems ludicrous to me, especially since im using a ranger and theres all those mini mobs crossing my line of sight… not even gonna think of getting that one done… not to mention its kinda counter productive to the whole timed mission of killing everything in there…am I supposed to hide in a corner with a colored buff and patiently select which of the many mobs Im gonna to cautiously tap, just for a 5 pt achieve?
I was in an overflow this morning, and we did a 3 way split without much coordination or effort and managed to take them all down in about 9 mins. The next run I was in main, and tried to explain to the zerg, the logic of doing so. I thought the idea of running from knight to knight was wasting valuable minutes. I was immediately jumped on in chat by numerous people and called various names for even bringing the topic up. The rest of the day they zerg rolled it >.< and have yet to come close to 6 mins and I kept my mouth shut.
Post Edit… however, its only 5 achieve pts, the meta can be done with dailys anyway, zerging does mean extra loot… and two extra chances at knight power cores, so…hmmm

There must be a randomness to it. I was in a party with a few guildees, we did zerg kills for the knights, and the whole zerg entered the same portal, yet our party members were still split up into different rooms. It was actually rather annoying cause some of our group succeeded, and entered the Scarlet instance afterwards, and one of our party members went in with us not knowing better, and his group hadn’t even finished their battle.
Has anyone done this achievement yet? I have tried numerous times, with numerous tactics, if you have done so, care to share your tips? TY
with 5 mins left on the clock at 33%hp, blue assault knight just did a full heal. Is this intended, or a bug?
Next patch is Mar 04, Tues… I wouldn’t wait too long just in case…
Oh btw, THANK YOU for asking us!! Hope to see some changes, anything will be helpfulIts probably a big task, and I for one (being a ranger main ) appreciate it.
Game Mode: All aspects..
Overview: Skill selctions, especially arrows…Go back and look at some of the old ranger skills from GW1… I miss the awesome selection of arrow choices. Apply poison, incendiary arrows, savage shot, needling shot, ignite arrows…the list goes on and on. Making any of those an elite choice would be much more preferable over the broken and annoying Entangle. Sure we have spirits, but unless we spec them to follow, we are forced to stay stationary, something as a ranger I hate doing. On a side note explain to me why a warrior has all those fire skills for his bow, but we don’t have one (except a spirit).
A few utility skills wouldn’t hurt either, an actual camouflage skill that doesn’t rely on a weapon selection( but I do love you for giving us that longbow skill, its a lifesaver, plz don’t ever change it!!), or a blind like the old throw dirt skill, give us a little protection from melee classes that own us in pvp.
Risks : by giving us new skills, you run the risk of other classes crying we are OP, because we now stand a decent chance of defending ourselves in pvp and cant be owned in 10secs by cheesy hambow warriors or sneaky thieves…
I know numerous players, who want to craft several back pieces, and I know just as many (myself included) that have no need or desire to craft one. Simple solution… make blade shards tradeable. There are so many surplus shards that their cost will be low. I can make a few coins, and my friends can make all the back pieces they want.

The notes said "During this part of the Living Story, Vigil Keep will serve as the hub for some of the game content originally available in Lion’s Arch, including the Asura Gate hub to other cities, Fractals of the Mists, and relevant personal storyline instances. The city will continue to be available for map completion, but players should expect it to be more difficult to navigate during this time. "
Ugh..like we haven’t had enough with Scarlet and her clockwork minions yet. Does she have to get involved in every little thing that happens in Tyria??
…laughs on her though, I think the crab gets the credit for the photobomb
“A flying dolyak” would just be silly, clearly by the diagram it doesn’t even have wings, it would not even be aerodynamically possible… but a rocket propelled Dolyak would greatly increase the speed of supply deliveries…it will be a new WvW upgrade skill obviously :P
that’s pretty cool, thanks for sharing… Nostalgia ftw
I agree in concept with your complaints. However I have seen on more than one occasion, where a platform has 5 people all wipe, and yet the platform next to it with only 3 people manage to get their job done. On several other occasions I have been standing on a completed platform, cheering for that one soul survivor on the platform next to me. It adds an extra element of excitement, and an extra element of joy to see the odds overcome. The trick to the platforms is not the build, or the number of players, but understanding the basic mechanics and having experience with each warden. Our server has had a few perfect victories now , with no platforms failing, all chains being succeded first try, and I can tell you cause I was there not all platforms had 5 players.
Tips to winning..get there 1/2hr to 45 mins early to avoid OF. Get your map in TS, get newcomers to read up on what needs to be done. On the platforms, get the downed up fast, but ignore the dead. Communicate. Stack might and buffs at portal entrances. Some aoe’s and attacks can affect the next platform over.
When that’s all done have your /cheer rdy to go fast, and then get rdy to celebrate ") Good luck!! Post edit.. we have being putting some more experienced players in lane one and two, and after having completed their chains, 5 or so players, break off to help other lanes, the portal sickness will wear of in time for them to help with warden 5.
(edited by Unknownhero.6745)
3 wins so far, and had my /cheer copy pasted ready to go each time… but for whatever reason, im just to slow to get it posted in that fraction of a second before the cutscene starts >.< wtf.
Anyway we can have more time for this achieve?
So despite my better judgment, I spent way to much money on black lion keys (complaints found at other topics) and eventually managed to scrap together one full black lion claim ticket.
I was hoping with this latest patch, kicking off the end of our living story, we might see some new skins offered. Sadly not. Any idea how long we have to wait before we might see some??
ha ha…I did the same thing…but that was after the girls wanted to get a little intimate :P
Am I missing something? So far most of the “living story” hasn’t really told me much of anything, this new content in particular. I have completed every “story” so far and have yet to feel much connection to whats going on. Todays patch being a perfect example.
Heres how my day started… I downloaded the patch and logged in all excited. Ok I got mail from Marjory, cool! She says meet her Lornars pass. So I go to Lornars, and where is she?? I wander around with the rest of the zerg lost amidst a sea of wandering tags, all who seem as clueless as me. Then I randomly stumble upon Marjory. Cool, some input. WRONG. She has nothing to say.
So I wander around aimlessly, wondering wtf is going on. Someone discovers if we destroy the probes they drop power core pieces. After attempting to outrun the zerg to numerous probes, I get frustrated and map to a quieter location, to get some power cores.
After about 20 mins my guild says an event has started in Lornars. I quickly map over and jump into the zerg again.
We get a quick 20 second cutscene, and all chaos insues. A few vague messages on screen sorta explain whats going on. After some mindless zerg fights, and a lot of confusion the event fails and the entire zerg is inta killed. Cool story bro…
Now I don’t expect our first big boss encounter to go smoothly, but is it to much to ask, to have a few NPCs take 2 mins out of their busy day to say hi to me, and give me a little heads up wtf is going on? Especially Marjory, if she wants help saving the world the least she could do, is have a little chat, and make me feel she atleast remembers all I have done for her.
Needless to say after about an hour of the new content, all I feel is frustrated and disappointed. I will do what I did with the rest of the living stories, wait for a certain website to post a little detail and description as to whats going on. Then I will jump on the zerg wagon, kill a bunch of crap, collect a bunch of crap for 2 days. Get a lame chest reward, then sit around bored again until the next content is released:/
I fail to see how any of that constitutes this being called a “story”.
“I doubt I’m alone when I say that I’m hoping for a remedy. Here were my ideas:
•Put in harvesting nodes that allow us to craft various cloths…
•Lower the Silk requirement…
•Let us downgrade materials in the Mystic Forge…
Or maybe I’m just making up a problem that doesn’t really exist. Is this an issue for other players?"
No you are definitely not alone…and all 3 of those seem like reasonable suggestions.
As far as all the other comments are concerned…. I could care less what silk cost pre-patch, I could care less about the whole “economy” discussion. To me what it boils down to is, in order to craft a full set of ascended leather I would need 7200 silk scraps 0.0…
I hate farming, I hate grinding, and I hate “playing the trade post” game…I play for fun, sadly this means I don’t make a lot of gold but Im normally ok with that.
The bottom line being if I want the armor, Im either forced to buy it from TP at over exaggerated prices, or farm bags and drops for it…
I spent an hour the other day farming rit bags, and had a decent drop rate on cloth items, and rags as well… after an hour I maybe if lucky had about 100 silk scraps….lol. Needless to say I decided I didn’t want the armor bad enough to farm 71 more hours.
Long story short, I hope to see an “official” response to this concern as well, but I wont hold my breath waiting.
Nope kodama, you are not an isolated sample, your results are very similar to mine, and also to that of several friends of mine…I lost track how many it took me to get my 10scraps for 1 ticket, but I remember buying 25 keys when I had 6 scraps( knowing in frustration I had to keep going to reach 10, or it was all for nothing) and considered myself lucky when I got my last 4 :/ at which point I declared enough was enough
Gee thx for the sale, sadly im average income player, with bad luck… I have already spent way too much money both real and ingame, to get one claim ticket, I really don’t have the patience and or the money to hope for more. Even at sale price, 3-5 tickets to me seems ludicrous. I will sit on my one ticket in hopes that someday a new set of skins I might like is introduced.
If the random (crappy) drop rates ever change, and we are guaranteed atleast one scrap of a ticket per chest(which would still require me to buy anywhere from 30-70 chests), then I will reconsider buying chests again…
If you go to the camp on the hill, the npc who trades toxic spores, has an option to re-visit the instance. There are 2 separate achieves for completion of the little puzzle, so its worth redoing.
How about simply having a fair drop rate of black lion claim ticket scraps? I recently opened 25 chests foolishly hoping to get lucky. All I wanted was a claim ticket for a weapon skin. Sadly I got 4 scraps :/ Looking back in hindsight, the 2100 gems could easily have been cashed in for 120+ gold, and I coulda bought skins in the tp. Jade skins running around 75g, Dreamthistle and Scerlite 85-100g, Aether skins 200g and Fused 300g. If my luck was to continue at my current drop rate I would need 5250 gems worth of chests in total to get one meager claim ticket. 5250 gems would easily be over 300g. The math is obvious, screw black lion chests…screw buying keys…get skins off the tp :/ Was that ANETs intention when they introduced these claim tickets?
The Dulfy guide is accurate. I did both achieves yesterday repeating the instance.
ok thx Spike :P, guess im going back in
Has anyone finished this achievement? I cleared the place, then wandered around for 20 mins looking for a hidden tree or little house I might have missed. I finally gave up… did I miss something?
