I’d think Rampager set for Prec+Pow+Cond.
Swords can be really good for condition build, but they also hit quite hard. I see potential for both cond based builds and power based.
I’d PAY to have a different dance. -.-;
I’d pay TWICE to have the techno viking. :C
People don’t want others to find out they are running around in Magic Find gear.
I’m gonna play devil’s advocate here.
I don’t mind pvp in wvw. WvW however, is a place where both pvp and pve take place. It’s like rolling on PvP server in wow, youre out in the wilds you’re open for pvp.
HOWEVER.
Badges of Honor have another use that you guys didn’t list: Need em for Building a Legendary. And, you’ll excuse me, but Legendary Weapons are 98% PvE farming. That single 2% comes from: exploring the PvP maps, and having to acquire 500 Badges of Honor.
Any dedicated carebear player, and i use the therm only to illustrate players who have zero desire to partake into pvp, will be forced to undergo into an activity they do not enjoy to achieve that final result. The JPs were an interesting take on allowing these people a work around over going into the fields of battle and, well, pvping.
The problem here is, it still makes people who should have no business on WvW take slots while they clearly KNOW they don’t belong there. They want to get to it done and go about their life, back into PvE while only everything wants to murderize you.
The dilemma is this: The EB JP is a reward for controlling one of the castles. Same goes for Bls since having a strong force on that side of the map favors people from your faction having exclusive access to it. PvP happening on a PvP zone should be taken as the status quo, the defacto equalizer. Having strategical advantage should sought after, and really commended.
The changes I’d propose are:
-Remove badge of honor requirement for building a legendary would keep people who have no business in a WvWvW out. Or allow people to purchase the gift with some other currency other than BoH. I’m sure if given the option, carebears would grind another 500k karma on cursed shore if given the option.
-Allow a “truce” hour, tea time hour, I don’t care how you call it, where you will be unflagged for pvp, and at the end of that time you are ported back to LA. This should also make all enemies invisible to you, as well any siege they build, or any strategic information you could try to squeeze out of it to be denied.
-This is a personal gripe, cuz this is GENUINE GRIEF. Building Siege on top of the chest to grief your own kittenmn server is NOT FUNNY, spending 10 minutes trying to click the chest, unable to attack the siege, and not knowing who laid it down to report should not even be viewed as “you can still do it, just takes some work” kitten So, make the chest a priority to interact with over siege, make the chest bigger than siege, allow tab targeting the chest, or simply disable building siege on top of the platform. I hope ANET reads this and learn something from it: if there’s a way to piss somebody out, some monkey will find it and do it for the lulz. >:C
Lysserd, warrior starter armor: Go to any vendor in starting areas… Heck, even the vendor in LA near the crafting area 9,9;;
But there’s something i wish they had done like another mmo. Best customization model: DCUO. Once you equip it, you unlock that look on your character, and can change it any time… <:\
Am I missing something here or is there any difference at all? o.O
(Talking about Norn. Post was redirected here.)

Isslair, does that mean Norns are space marines? :B
From what I can tell, mobs have different behaviors, not a single aggro mechanic.
Call me on this, but I could swear some enemies tend to look after the weakest link, the one with lower health/armor, or near death, while other seem to stick to enemies who have a larger survival pool.
Biggest example: AC, Deatha’s path.
While fixing the mortars, on my warrior, the enemy warriors seem to favor going after me or a guardian (not saying the exclusively stick to us, but its a tendency).
While playing my engineer, mesmers and archers seem to focus on me all the time, yet, I never see warriors zerging me like i do when I’m on my warrior.
Its kind of weird, but when you think about this, the skill set they sport seem to be complimentary to their targets. Warriors have self heal and annoying stun. Mesmers reflect ranged attacks…
Further along, how aggro behavior seems to differ. Take the Elite Abomination at the end of Plix’s chain quest. He seems to just mark someone and follow until that person is dead. I’ve even had moments where I went invisible due to a thief’s shelter, and as soon I came back, he kept chasing me again. And I was on my engineer! I remember this one time cuz i had to kite him for the whole event, but again, I was lvl 76…
Other different behavior I witnessed, lets say you come across an idle player. You attack attack a couple moas and run thru the idle player. As the moas “see him” right of front of em, they just decide to murderize him, whom did not attack em at all. Not sure moas are a good example since they are passive, but say instead of moas they were raptors, or wargs…
So, I like to think the aggro mechanic is different, there are patterns sure, but they are different for each type of enemy, and more “natural” than aggro tables…
If my warrior could use torches, I’d listen to “Riders of Doom” and run around pretending I’m torching some hovels…
I’m not sure Asuras are mammals, but assuming they are… I pity the women if they had to breastfeed, have you seen the teeth in the Asura’s models? _
Eh, Lysserd that would be cool… Except for warrior we get?
-Normal looking lvl 10 helmet.
-Bucket looking lvl 10 helmet.
-Run of the mill lvl 10 shoulders.
What a gip. :I
Heh, people complaining about other faction siege… Now how would you feel if your own faction placed trebs, ballistas and all that good stuff on top of the chest? Making it impossible to loot the darn thing?
Some necromancer is summoning an insurmountable amount of flesh wurms in LA. Its causing severe lag and popping in of models everywhere.
Not sure who is doing it, or if more people are also doing it, but the Flesh Wurms by the mystic forge had a guild tag. Not sure if I should just post it here or remain silent.
Areas flooded with Flesh Wurms I could spot:
-Near the mist gates by the dummies.
-Surrounding the Mad King impostor.
-Surrounding the Mystic Forge.
Yeah… I don’t think any other classes even have something similar to a decimal of a point per investment. I’d rather see a 1% decrease in CD like the last tree of eles (attunement feature), thieves (steal feature) and engies (gadgets feature) than this… (not sure about other classes)
Feels like I’m getting less for my investment than anything else…
As a Norn, I’d pay for other dance styles in heart beat… :I
Just a little something. I don’t know if it was already said in this thread, but sure, make more difficult JPs. BUT PLEASE take into consideration the flak norns and charr got from this. It was hard enough as it was to deal with the challenge, but getting assaulted by other players made it only worse…
I’d really like to see hand to hand/brawling fight style/weapon added to the game. I support this!!
Here’s a good one.
I was watching the intro to norns again on youtube, I just love the music, and one of the most striking pictures is of the norn warrior looking up as the shadow of Jormag is cast on him. He wields his shield on the right hand and axe on the left.
Ignoring that maybe he was left handed, it got me imagining why the shield is often relegated to the left hand in games. Sure, from animations perspective and normal limitations in older games, I can understand that, but since GW2 uses the key bundle system based on equipped weapons, and warrior has the largest selection of weapons for offhand combat, why not add the ability to use a shield in the main hand? Further expanding the options a warrior has for addressing combat, and maybe allowing em a bit more of staying power.
I’m not gonna pretend I know squat about game balance or even suggest 3 abilities that may scratch the general area of balance, I’m pretty sure ANet would need to do a good deal of reiteration on the skills and make sure they work properly. But when i ask as a player for more skills or weapons, there’s something I’m really after: flavor and versatility.
I remember several weeks ago, when suggesting new weapons, some veterans (or people who seem to know something we don’t) shooting those arguments down with “what function would the new weapon do that our current selection already doesn’t?” mind you not as politely worded.
In game we already see some interesting unique weapons and skills. Nightmare court enemies use a whip occasionally. The Warden in CoF path 1 uses a FIRE whip (thus making it twice as effective ). Undead thralls use unarmed combat, Again in CoF shamans have these glowing fire hands casting attacks (which is really cool), Centaurs use spears and javelins, Hylek too… and that’s just from the top of my head.
I don’t know if there are enough niches for each new weapon. Seeing some weapons have a broad range of utility, I shudder to think that this is the limiting factor of our options. I just want to have more options at our disposal, and if this is disruptive of sPvP due to balance, well, just don’t make these available in mists, and restrict the use to Open World/WvW.
So what are your thoughts on this? Would love to see some civilized discussion about Shields in main hand and more weapons added to the game.
@XII
That’s the point, if even engies don’t use it, why would eles and warriors use theirs if they can’t buff it, and have longer default CD? And it’s tier 2?
Alright, this is messed up, so follow me with this:
Rampage: (aka juggernaut)
Tier 2 elite (30 skill points)
-Turns you into an underwhelming brute, albeit cool on paper since you’re hulking out, punching and smashing left and right, the idea of the skill is to give you stability and access to an array of launchers and knocks.
-Takes away all your utility skills. Also eats all your boons. And makes you unable to do certain things since you are transformed.
Cooldown: 180 seconds.
Elixir X
Tier 1 elite (10 points)
-Turns you into either the same underwhelming brute OR into elemental tornado (which, btw, is another Tier 2 elite), literally mimicking both the warrior’s and ele’s elite. The idea of the brute is the same as above, OR make em completely immune to damage while transformed into the tornado. Both also focus on knocking people around.
-Also like Tornado, turns you into a whirlpool underwater.
Cooldown: 120 seconds.
—
So… Engies get a cheaper, shorter cooldown rampage OR tornado, that they can further enhance with traits (since it’s still an elixir) for the following bonuses:
-Reduced cooldown.
-Longer duration. In fact, I’ve tried my best to lengthen the duration of Rampage on my warrior (rune of water, monk, and 20 points into disc tree), just because I wanted to punch stuff for longer, and I’ve only managed to get the stability gained to last longer, the transformation ends after 18 seconds, AND takes the extra seconds of stability along with it.
—
I’m not arguing the usability of Rampage, how good or bad the skill is. Same goes for Tornado. But it does make me scratch my head WHY Elixir X does what both of em can do, for cheaper and on shorter CD.
Sure, some might say engineers aren’t meant to be in melee, it has no synergy… Sure, it’s random… But at least reduce the CDs of Warrior’s Rampage and Elementalist’s Tornado to 120 seconds. We are paying 3 times more skill points for it… And it’s not like people are gonna use these ANYWAY since they are bad as is. >.>;;;
I can’t help but wonder… I understand throwing rocks since you are, you know, on the GROUND, where rocks abound but… where does that hammer come from?! o_O
Agreed!! Knuckles and Spears would make me really happy. <3
I play mostly my warrior, and I spend a good deal of time customizing his looks. Something I like about heavy armor is the overall feeling of it having it’s own geometry, and not being a simple “skin” over the character.
First, I think GW2 does great by adding some minor details even in “chain shirts”, but I wish you guys would take it one step further like you did in some of em already.
The Arah token heavy armor set is a great example. It looks amazing, it actually feels like a plate armor. Another good example is the Warrior storyline reward set. Altho not as good looking, the chest piece feels like an actual piece of armor.
Other two examples are the human T3 cultural, and the armor called “plated” on pvp wardrobe. They also give a good deal of “armor” feeling.
I love the more barbaric looking gear too, like the “knight’s” from the pvp locker (same that shows up on character creation for human warrior and norn warrior) so i also support these.
So, to finish off, please, less “skin shirts” and more of these amazing looking armor please. <3
Ideas:
-Quickness, 1 sec for each bar.
-Pull (we really need a pull).
-THOUSAND BLADES (lol?)
-Some sort of shock wave cone attack.
-Boon/Condition removal attack.
Just throwing some ideas out there..
I support this!! I’d love a profession that can go with hand to hand, brawling, use claws, mitts, tonfas, anything. Be it a monk or some other archetype. (Maybe a hulking dreadnought…)
Eep! You are right! Thank you!
Today I was feeling like trying another profession, and when customizing my new “Char…r” (hah, get it?), I noticed the horn length option is gone (used to be under the same tab as head size, ear length and thickness).
What gives? Is it a bug? Intended? Same issue as the Asura head slider we had last patch?
