I agree with this.
The Guild Wars 2 Forums should be the go to place for Dev Comments and Communication and info.
This is the place that you created and manage. As soon as you post essential stuff through other social media, it becomes dilluted.
I understand that social media in all its outlets is a powerful promotion tool these days and it would be unwise to not use it from a business kind of view.
But in your official post about your tumblr account (on this website, like it should be) you said:
“Tumblr is going to be your home for Guild Wars 2 fan-created content. We’ll post fan art, videos, cosplay photos, and all sorts of amazing things fans have made to express their love for Guild Wars 2.”
I dont have a problem with GW2 using Tumblr as a tool to collect and redistribute fan generated content.
But the OP asked why there has been no Anet comments about LS2 speculation in the designated subsection of the forum yet.
If Anet doesnt want to comment on speculation, thats fine. I also see the need for you guys to promote your new tumblr account but linking it in this topic makes people assume that Anet now posts comments about future releases on tumblr, which isnt right.
So i think Danicias link is quite displaced in this thread. In fact, if it was from a regular user, i might be inclined to report it for being off topic or promoting unrelated websites (to the topic, not the game).

This game just doesnt need mounts and i am quite happy that Anet will never dedicate any ressources towards implementing them.

Given the input/output of materials and their value to players I would hypothesize that players find many outputs of crafting worthwhile for one reason or another.
An example, I pulled the approximate amount of crafting materials destroyed in the time I took to read this post and the number I received was 136,909 items. There’s a high demand and velocity of crafting materials, which I would say is good evidence that there must be something to do with those crafting materials.
Half of those 136k crafting materials destroyed could have been Thick Leather Sections sold to a vendor.

Yes, you can get buffs via food and/or skills.
But the game is balanced around that.
Adding a completely new source of buffs would require quite a bit of rebalancing and would most likely end up with people without months being at a disadvantage due to buffs being nerfed in favor of another source from the mounts. There is always a way to incorporate a new useful buff without tearing all the others down. Really not that difficult, it’s just a matter of being creative and attentive to what there already is.
Also mounts would not need to buff you if it actually upset gameplay balance.
Even a speed buff and the ability to fly would be pretty useful.
But more so than actually being useful (which flying mounts would be), they’re awesome to have and look at (and would be even better with customization). So how do melee mobs attack flying mounts?
The same way they attack flying mounts in world of warcraft.
They can’t attack you if you’re flying too high. They can attack you on the ground. But also, you cannot engage in combat with mounts. And what use is your proposed buff that mounts give you, if you cant engage in combat?
When you engage in combat you automatically dismount and you keep the buff.
The buff is just a suggestion, but really not the point of mounts. The point of mounts are that they add a lot to MMOs and can really be expanded on in a game as customizable as GW2.
I honestly dont see what mounts would add to GW2. We have waypoints for fast travel, buffing you more than 33% Swiftness would imbalance the game, making them fly would make a joke out of jumping puzzles.
If you desperately want to prance around on a mount and customize it with dyes, maybe GW2 isnt the right game for you.

Sounds like a great and well thought out idea that nobody had before you.
Just about all MMOs have mounts.
However, breeding and customizing mounts with crafted armor and dye are features that would be pretty unique.
Also cheating to fly across puzzles with mounts would be another great perk of having a mount. As a kid I used to like platform games, but just don’t care for them much anymore.
So its basically paying for cheating? You are trolling right?
And as soon as mounts buff you in any way, Anet has to rebalance their whole pve content.

Seriously though, I’ve never seen a compelling argument that making TP items account bound would be anything but devastatingly bad for this game and its players. There are of course many biases in any setting, especially a forum setting, but you know that my goal is to make the best possible game.
Any comment on the following purely optional system?
To a Good Home
Add a check box when posting items that indicate the item must be sold to “a good home”. When purchased via TP this item becomes account bound. For items that stack it is place in a separate stack that combines only with similar account bound items. When buying via TP a check box allows ‘to a good home’ items to be viewed (the default would be to filter them out. the check box is to opt in to see them). This way customers are less likely to accidentally buy something they cannot re-sell/flip.
- People selling in ‘to a good home’ mode should expect to get less money for their items – after all, the only people who can buy them are people who intend to actually use them. But they also get the knowledge that their goods are not being juggled for profit.
- For buyers who intend to use the item it creates a parallel market with lower price and a direct from initial seller relationship.
- For flippers it moves a percentage of their market into a parallel track. Then we find out if the people actually harvesting/getting the initial drop really care about the so called “service”… Do they want to sell fast to the broadest liquidity, or slower to people who will use what they are buying?
First of all, this is way too complicated to implement (2 stacks of each item). Then i dont see who benefits from it. It wont ban flippers or speculators from the game, if that is your intent. And for any crafting material, it would still give me the possibility to craft something out of it to turn a profit.
Point 2:
As transactions would still be anonymous, no relationship will be established between buyer and seller.
Point 3: If you care about your item not being bought by flippers/speculators, just post a sell listing and dont sell to the highest bidder. That way, most of the time, it wont be bought by a flipper/speculator.
Just because you seem to have moral issues with selling your stuff to someone who benefits from it by flipping, speculating, this is an awfully complicated system and i dont think it will be frequently used. Most people that sell their loot to the highest bidder do so because they want a quick gold return, they wont sell it for even less while having to even do one more click to check the good home box.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
No. There are many reasons why this is a bad idea and a lengthy topic about this already exists.
Under the current system you are free to put in a buy offer at 10.5g, if you wish. If you chose to put in a buy offer at 10g 1c, thats your choice and you have to live with the consequence that the possibility of being overbid is higher.

Sorry for my misinformation earlier. I amended my post, as per the request of the forum team. Thanks.
It doesnt matter anyways in which forum we post as we got zip feedback on the issues that have been discussed in either one of them.
Even though you commented a couple of times here and in the account issues forum, your posts were only giving advice on where to post about this.
Dont get me wrong, I dont expect you to comment on these issues as I dont think it is your responsibility as Liason.
Personally I also have some reservations about the introduction of the watchwork pick but the bigger issue for me is the lack of communication on this (or any other related topic in the BLTC Forum) from you guys, which has blown this discussion way out of porportion across the board.

Hi Guys,
just had a wild thought about how you could maybe regulate profits on the TP and link them more towards other content played.
Frequently we see new topics popping up from people who complain about the tp and the profits being made by hardcore flippers/traders.
Many people think that it should be limited and be more in line with rewards from other gameplay.
I am one of those people that make lots of profit on the tp but that doesnt mean that i want to keep the status quo and i had this idea:
The main reason why i make so much profit is because i buy mostly everything on buy order.
So in order to limit my profits Anet would have to limit the amount of buy orders i can purchase stuff with.
So why not tax buy orders with an account bound currency?
Karma is the obvious choice because with gold and exp it is the most common currency and reward in game.
So basically for every buy order from me that gets filled, i have to pay a karma tax before i can pick it up.
Just to play with some numbers:
LEts start with a ratio of 20c/1 karma
This means, if i want to buy items on buy orders worth 1000g, i will be taxed 500.000k karma, which will be paid AFTER someone filled my buy order. If i dont have enough karma, the item will remain in my pickup tab until i can pay.
This is by no means a solution to wealth inequality because people who are good at the game in general as well as on the tp will still make 10 times more profit than the average player earns rewards.
But it would at least require traders to spend more time in game doing regular gameplay.
I didnt think it too far yet, would rather hear some feedback first.
A first negative thought about it would be that it would propably lead to a higher spread in general between buy orders and sell listings. But that would also benefit people that know how to make quick karma AND know their way around the tp because they basically have a higher ratio of karma spent per profit.
Well, lets discuss….
Edit:
Alot of feedback has been given and concerns raised. My original suggestion has changed quite a bit, so i will continue to edit my OP and point towards some new posts that summarize the inital proposal and changes being made.
The first mayor change is using a new currency for the karma tax, White Karma.

You missed the points entirely Wanze as per usual and continue to deflect.
No, you entirely missed the meaning of cost efficiency in the article and it was a term used by the website, it wasnt mentioned in the transcript.
The website used the term of cost efficiency correctly though as it was describing the media marketing strategy of promoting HoT.
Here is a definition of cost efficiency from the business dictionary:
A goal of media marketing that is aimed at minimizing advertising expenses incurred while maximizing product publicity to a target market in terms of breadth and frequency of exposure. Maximizing cost efficiency in a marketing campaign is highly desirable for a business since the greatest product exposure is achieved for the least amount of financial investment.
Read more: http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/cost-efficiency.html
Prior to HoT, NCSoft wanted to promote it by giving free (limited) access to the core game to new players in order to get new paying customers, which is very cost efficient, as you dont have to pay advertising fees.
However, the numbers of new players buying HoT after playing it for free werent as high as they expected. They already mentioned in the transcript, that they will go a less cost efficient route for marketing (very aggressive on the marketing).
You took the term of cost efficiency completely out of context and applied it to game development, which has absolutely nothing to do with it.
