And it’s just “semantics” that’s the difference between ice hockey and football/soccer or American football from rugby.

As I said in an auction the seller simply offers the item and it’s the buyers who fight over who gets to buy it. That’s not how the TP is set up or who drives it. For buying something from a seller it’s the sellers who are fighting over potential buyers by making their item the cheapest available. That turns the auction model on it’s head.

Also the auction model doesn’t have anything equivalent to buyers requesting an item for a particular price to attract sellers. Nothing, zip, zero, nada.

It is still an auction. Just not the kind you’re used to. You just want to argue.

Whenever you place an item in TP for sale you are auctioning it off to the buyer who will pay the price you are requesting. The highest buyer, as it says. And buyers play the auction game by offering the highest they will pay for an item. It’s up to the sellers to either meet that offer or keep their item at a higher value awaiting a buyer who will pay the price they want. It’s almost a seller vs seller auction in many cases. Sellers under “bid” at times other sellers. I.E. “Lowest Seller”.

But it is still an auction no matter how you cut it. People bid and sell at auctions, the same is done on the TP.

The TP is not an auction house. At an auction, the sales price is not predetermined and an auction is limited by time.
On the TP you simply offer to buy or sell an item at a fixed price until someone agrees to your offer or you cancel your offer.

Those who know the answer to your question, can’t tell you. Those who try to tell you, don’t know. It’s all speculation.

I’ve stored several types of containers in the past, in anticipation of a massive game upheaval. I’ve “guessed” correctly one out of four times. (That sounds bad, until you remember that if I guess correctly this time, it would be 2/5, which is as close to 50-50 as I could get with only five tries.)

tl;dr flip a coin: if you’re right, great; if you’re wrong, you can blame an inanimate object for your losses.

Actually, 3/5 is as close to 50-50 as 2/5.

What do i win?

You can still gift stuff from the gem store for presents and raffles and you can still buy expensive stuff from the tp to give to your friends.

Not sure how much of the gold that is being sent to you/picked up by you from the guild bank is directed to those gifts but i think 26k gold per year is plenty.

Yep, that just removes something I could do since the beginning of the game. Because we enjoy seeing our liberties restricted, right ?

Also the 26K/year is cute, I probably don’t even reach that, as I’m more at 20K/year in and out. Problem is I don’t evenly do it over a year. One month I’ll trade 10K via mail then for 4 months it’ll be TP only. See my point ? The restriction on the account sucks. If there was a way to authenticate as a legit person or whatever it’d be better.

There will never be a change that satisfies 100% of the player base. Even in your case, I see it as a minor inconvenience. I think the positive changes that will result from this (more income for anet to put into the game instead of giving it to RMTs, less inflation) vastly outweigh the negative ones for legitimate players, even for you.

Especially from the curb of inflation, you will profit a great deal, as all your gold will be worth more.

If you want to “store” gold outside of the wallet, try using low bids on expensive items on the trading post.

If you want to store 1000g for example, just post an order for a stack of legendary weapons at 4g each. Its relatively safe to assume that those orders will never be filled and you can take them off anytime you want, without losing any gold.

Wanze.8410

The problem was the RNG element which forced players to buy precursors on the TP, where prices were artificially inflated due to people buying them with real money through currency exchange.

This is not true, most precursors reflect the value of materials (mithril/elder/t5 fine mats) that someone has to use in order to craft enough rares to forge a precursor on average, or the value of the corresponding rares on the tp.

In fact, the cheaper precursors are offered below forging value atm.

I really appreciate all his hard work and time he spent on the forums during the last weeks but I kinda find it disturbing that he feels he has to apologize in advance and explain himself if he doesnt post for a day, while alot of his posts came in after work or on the weekend anyways.
Kinda shows how demanding the forum users are.

Don’t complain, when a trader talks about his thought in public! The prices for lower tier gemstones and jewels are ridiculously cheap, often being at merchant price. ANet showed in the past that they don’t like that kind of situation for lower tier crafting materials.

That was the same with metals, wood and cloth before they introduced ascended crafting for armor and weapons. My guess is that lower tier gemstones are the new wool, cotton, linen and silk. Mark my words!

Youre not a trader, youre a hoarder. Most mats you are hoarding doubled in value at least once in the last year and went back down again. If you would have listed them after buying them at vendor value, you would already have made 85% profit.

Cooking has alot of intermediate mats, which are offered way below crafting value, those would have a way higher profit margin anyways.

And the first real spike usually comes from mats that are used in leveling the profession from 400-500 because thats the first thing everybody does and all lvl 400 discoveries will be reset, so it would make the most sense to buy up the items that are used in lvl 400 recipes, for example Exquisite Chrysocola Orbs.
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/24496-exquisite-chrysocola-jewel

They are traded for around 20s but their crafting value is over 60s, so those will be bought out first from the player base to discover exotic chrysocola trinkets.

Compared to other exotic jewels they might have a big supply with 11k but about 10k of those listings are mine at 50s and higher.

Jeweling is also unique in a way compared to the other crafting professions as you can upgrade from one tier to the next without having to rely on rng and spirit shards via the mf. But Transmogrification takes dust as well. There might be plenty of t5 jewels to be upgraded into orbs available on the tp but there is only enough t5 dust to upgrade about a quarter of them, so it would make more sense to invest in t5 dust and not jewels.

Happy hoarding.

Now I am curious. What would you need that many mithril ingots for?

The speed always seems fast to me, especially if you compare it to the RL process it is emulating. Sure, a lot of something takes longer but it normally would.

I intended to post this as a response to a post in a different thread but i went a little off topic, so i decided to post this here for info or discussion.

9k mithril ingots is a laugh.

There were times, when I forged 1 precursor on average per day, crafting my own rare weapons to throw into the forge.
A rare 2h weapon usually takes 18 refined t5 mats, most 1h weapons 17 and you need roughly 2k rares per precursor. Thats an average 35k refined mats per day.

I made an average profit of over 300g per precursor, a good haul for a day of playing GW2.
I would have forged 2 per day but i couldnt because refining took so much time.
But in the end, most of my profit was due to the fact, that i refined so much myself.
Instead of putting in buy orders for mithril, elder wood and t5 fine mats, I also could have put in buy orders or mithril ingots, elder planks, mithril plated dowels, inscriptions and weapon components like blades, hilts, shafts. It might have cost me a little more but i could probably still have made profit with those prices but probably more in the range of 100-200g per forged pre. Most of the time, I even put in buy orders for the crafting materials, when the highest bid wasnt unreasonable but the problem is that the more crafting went into an item (unrefined-refined-dowel/hilt/blade-insignia-weapon) the slower my buy orders would fill. If I would only rely on those buy orders, I wouldnt have been able to craft 2k weapons per day.

Basically any kind of profit made on or through the tp is earned by providing some kind of service or convenience to another player. The top 2 services are providing instant sell options for seller (buy orders) and instant buy options (listings). Most services are just some kind of in game labour (just like farmers do), salvaging, opening loot bags, crafting, forging. Most of my profits are based on doing clicks that most other people dont want to do. I buy up small portions of that labour from other players and complete it in bulk because that way its more efficient. A small example:

Some player gets a random lootbag which is worth 5s on the tp. He doesnt know what the lootbag drops and how high the chances are that whatever he gets will be worth more than 5s. He could do research on the wiki to determine that chance and decide wether its worth the risk to open it. But that takes time and problaby isnt worth it to the player, even if we might get 1-2s more on average from the whatever is in the bag.
Opening the bag also takes time, it might not be much but if he has multiple bags, selling the different drops will also take more clicks on the tp to sell.

Now I put in buy orders for that bag (at 4s) because i done my research and know the average value of the loot drops is 6s. I just wait until I have 1000 of those lootbags and open them altogether. Whatever I get will most likely be much closer to those 6s than whatever someone gets who only opens 5 lootbags.
Thats because its the rare drops that raise the average value of the loot table and I am more likely to get those with a sample size of 1000 compared to a sample size of 5.
And if I can find 200 people who sell me 5 loot bags each, i will spend way less time opening them and listing all the loot they they will have to put in with a combined effort.

Refining or crafting is no different.

Its a service provided, it might not be worth it for someone who just has a couple of mithril, elder and t5 fine mats left over that he wants to get rid of, to run to a crafting station, refine a couple dozen mats, craft some components and weapons and sell them on the tp because he only gets a couple handful of silver more for the crafted weapon but when you craft 2k weapons per day, this small profit adds up.

Edit: Just click on Medanenas name on the top of my quote to get to the original thread.

Yeah, that’s why I was musing maybe a bell curve, like maybe it’s one that would ramp up faster than I initially proposed, maybe hitting 50% at a lower total, maybe growing past 50%, and then slowing down once it reaches a good number, coasting to a hard cap wherever it needs to be.

It could also involve a time mechanic, like a percentage of that tax would be removed each month since you started, which would mean that if you make 10K gold over the first year then you would get the large tax, like 50%+, while if you hit 10K gold over ten years, the monthly pull back would mean that your overall tax rate would be little higher than a new player’s, since you would have expected to make that much money over so long a period of time, while the hardcore TPer might be in the million gold range or whatever, and he would still have the highest tax rate. It’d basically be -1 each month, so if you only make +1 per month, it balances out to nothing, while if you make 10 each month it’d be +9, balanced out so that a “1” would be about what the median player makes in a given month.

The goal here wouldn’t be to cripple TP flippers entirely, but just to make it way less profitable for them. The peak tax rate should be enough to turn a 1000 gold per month average into something basically consistent with champ trains (or ideally with less farmy methods of earning gold).

As for creating too much of a gold sink, it should really only be applied to the upper echelon of traders in the first place, so if that creates “too much of a gold sink” for the game then it would only highlight how much of the game’s gold gets concentrated in the hands of a few. If it truly does take out more gold than the system puts in though, there solution is simple enough, put in more gold. If they can take a million gold out of the economy each month that would come almost entirely from the wealthy TP farmers, and then put it back into the economy in a diversified manner to people playing general PvE activities, then I would call that mission accomplished. It would both reduce the wealth of the top rungs, and increase the wealth of the lower rungs, without adding any inflation to the system, that seems just about perfect to me.
And keep in mind, this sort of tax would not only be a general tax on the rich, it would also introduce a competitive disadvantage to them. If a rich TP flipper faces a 50% tax on his transactions, then that means he’d need to make a 65% profit to break even on a trade, right? Something like that. Anyways, a non pro-flipper would not face that penalty, he’d still only need to make a 15% return to break even, so he could drastically undercut the pro flipper and still make a great profit. . I’m not an economist and don’t care to run out the numbers to find ideal balance points, but my gut tells me that even something in the 5-20% range would make a very wealthy flipper very uncompetitive relative to a more casual trader.

Anything you proposed has still 1 flaw, which i mentioned several times:

You still compare the profits i make with rewards from gameplay. Itsa fundamental difference because your gold reward for completing a dungeon is created out of thin air while my profits are gold that were created by other players out of thin air. I dont create gold, it is given to me. And in the process, i suck gold out of the game through taxes. That gold i pay in taxes, is not generated by me but other players, so it hurts them, not me.

I understand and accept your opinion that you think its unfair that tp traders make more gold than you per hour but everything you suggested here wont hurt them as much as the general player base. The fact that i have more gold than you at the end of the day doesnt influence the way you play the game in any way. The majority of the player base doesnt care that someone earns more gold than them because they cast a vote everytime they sell to the highest bidder and buy the lowest listing. If everybody would list his loot instead of selling directly, there wouldnt be as much profit for flippers. Just because your of a different opinion shouldnt mean Anet should highly lower their or mine gaming experience.

The bottom line is that you want everybody else to earn as much as you do, which is very selfish.

[Suggestion] Remove level restriction on ecto

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Salvaging crafted rares for ectos is the biggest reason not to introduce this. While there is a valid point that most mid level crafted rare armor and weapons propably have a higher crafting cost than ectos itself (havent checked on all of them) it might not hold true for leather armor and especially trinkets because most of the ingots used in jeweling are still cheap compared to other common mats which have a good sink in ascended crafting.
Also rare lvl 60 beaded weapons, which cost about 1500 karma and t4 common mats to craft, would be salvageable into ectos.

Imbalanced asc armor costs by class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

A lengthy discussion has been going on in this thread
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Why-is-silk-going-up-in-price/page/19#post4873983

about silk prices in general, the high requirements for silk in bolt of damask and the disadvantage of of light armor users because they need about 50% damask than the other two weight classes, which makes it longer to acquire and substantially more expensive.

With the current recipes, i think it will be hard to balance out costs for Anet by adjusting material faucets, so the best solution would be to adjust the recipes. And I dont mean to adjust the silk recipes because it wouldnt really cure the imbalance between weight classes, just make asc cheaper in general.

As alot of new players came in in the last couple of weeks, that might not be too familiar with ascended crafting, lets have a look at the status quo again and the problem at hand. Good info can be found on the wiki page:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Why-is-silk-going-up-in-price/page/19#post4873983

If we disregard the account bound materials (empyrial shards, bloodstone dust, dragonite ore, karma, obsi shards, skillpoints, globs of dark matter, laurels) and just focus on the refined t7 mats, Bolt of Damask, Deldrimor Ingot and ELonian Leather, we have the following requirements for a full set:

Light:

  • 36 Damask (18 for the insignias and 18 for the armor pieces)
  • 6 Elonian for the armor pieces
    Medium:
  • 24 Damask (18 for the insignias, 6 for the armor pieces)
  • 18 Elonian for the armor pieces
    Heavy:
  • 25 Damask (18 for the insignias, 7 for the armor pieces)
  • 16 Deldrimor for the armor pieces

So overall, to craft 1 set each, we need 85 damask, 24 Elonian and 16 deldrimor and their prices on the tp are:

  • damask 14g
  • deldrimor 4g
  • elonian 2g

So the refined t7 components add up to the following values for each set:

  • Light: 516g
  • Medium: 372g
  • Heavy: 414g

So the 2 problems that arise are the discrepancy of timegated t7 mats and the price spread between light and leather armor and I am trying to find a solution that solves both problems without Anet having to micromanage the values of the mats involved and doesnt require too much changes to crafting mechanics and drop rates.

In general, I think the average price tag of ascended armor is fine as it was intended as a long term goal, so I am aiming to find a solution that brings the price tag of all sets closer together in a price range between 350-450g, depending on market prices.

As Damask makes up the bulk of the costs of each set, I think its easier to find a solution in which silk retains its high value compared to deldrimor and elonian, rather than bring all 3 mats to the same value. While raising Elonian value should be part of the solution, I think Deldrimor is fine at its current price point because its also the only one of the 3 mats that is used extensively in ascended weaponcrafting (lets disregard elonian for bowstrings), so a higher price tag would mean additional costs for weapons for all classes.

Overall, we need to address the extensive use of damask in light armor, to solve the higher timegate and costs and bring leather up in value, preferably up to deldrimor.

As already mentioned, a light set needs 18 bolts each for the armor and the insigias and the other two sets, need 24/25 damask, so we need to shave off 12 bolts and preferably substitute it with elonian.

It doesnt make sense to take them off the armor parts (for immersion), so we just take them off the insignia.

Now we have the following material spread:

Light:

  • 24 Damask (6 for the insignias and 18 for the armor pieces)
  • 18 Elonian (12 for the insignia, 6 for the armor pieces)
    Medium:
  • 24 Damask (18 for the insignias, 6 for the armor pieces)
  • 18 Elonian for the armor pieces
    Heavy:
  • 25 Damask (18 for the insignias, 7 for the armor pieces)
  • 16 Deldrimor for the armor pieces

This means that the asc insignias crafted and used by tailors need to be a different one ot the other ones, otherwise accounts with a tailor and an armorsmith would use them to craft heavy armor, which would screw up the balanced costs.
It would also result in a balanced timegate of 24 days, if we adjust the heavy set to 24 bolts and add 2 deldrimor ingots.

I am getting close to the post length limit and its wvw reset soon, so i gonna post later about raising the price of elonian to about 4g.

Trading Post Progressive Reform

I know which ones. I was asking what would they need or want them for.

What do you need lots of gold for?

Most every reward in the game that’s based on rng (which is by far the majority) if you are not on the lucky side of the curve. Judging by current topics….that means quite a bit. As well as allowing one to save copious amount of time which we all know is a limited/very valuable resource.

Okay. I love to play the TP, its my favourite content and I am very good at it.
Now my bank is full of gold and I dont feel as rewarded anymore. Earning 20k gold felt quite nice but after i earned 50k gold, it doesnt feel rewarding anymore at all. I also see all those other players in armor that has better stats than the ones i can buy on the tp and they got nice skins on them. When i asked a player where he got the skin, he told me to talk to the dungeon npcs in LA. I went there but nobody wanted my gold in exchange for those dungeon armor.
Do you seriously want to tell me that i spent 3k+ hours on the tp and i cant even get those skins?
It didnt end there. I saw a warrior with some nice weapon skins, one was an ambrite sword and the other one a fractal sword. I inquired where to get those but neither that bloody robot in the fractal hub nor ANY merchant in drytop would sell me those for my hard earned gold.

I did some more research on those armor pieces with them OP stats because i like to have the best gear just to link it in map chat. It can only be crafted.
Thats fine i thought, i just buy all the mats that i need to level up my armorsmith to level 500, lemonsqueezy.
When i was a level 500 armorsmith, i was gonna start and craft my armor. Those deldrimor ingots and bolts of damask needed some obsidian shards, no idea where to get them, so i bought the ingots and bolts directly from the tp. I wanted to craft the insignias but even though somebody told me that the recipes for those are sold by the master crafter, there was no option to buy them with gold. Is this a bug?
Where is the karma/gold exchange?
Well, doesnt matter anyhow because guess what?
You need some kind of vision crystal anyways to craft that armor but i cant find those crystals or its ingredients on the tp, either. 500g down the drain, thats more gold lost than the time when I bought tons of Tarragon because i was bored.
I start getting very angry but get distracted by this guy beside me who out of a sudden summons this mini kitten and transforms in a random kitten.
I want this kitten and want to be a kitten and after paying this catboy 5 gold for information, he sends me to the Laurel Vendor.
Again, he doesnt want gold. He wants Laurels, and i never seen a single Laurel in game.
Not a single one of the 200k lootbags i bought and opened until now, dropped one.
RNG is so broke in this game.
/wiki Laurels.

Ah ok, its awarded for completing Dailies, Monthlies or for Achievement points.
All those can be completed or are awarded in wvw, pvp, and pve. It seems the TP is neither pvp, wvw or pve because i never got one of those.
Seriously Anet, is this some kind of joke?
Playing the TP feels pretty unrewarding to me, please fix asap or I will leave the game.

You assert that I am trying to stifle discussion. I’ll ask you to rethink that accusation. Asking for greater evidence from supporters of the idea that flipping needs to be nerfed is a means of facilitating the discussion. In order to get this suggestion to fly, or any other approach to modify flipping, the idea is going to have to be persuasive to ANet. If supporters can’t convince me, how are they going to convince them? Also, I’ve let my reservations to the OP’s original idea be known. In fact, I would not be surprised if one of my concerns contributed to the formation of the OP’s new proposal.

Alot of concerns and reservations that were made resulted in me reformatting and altering my initial proposal and i am sure you gave some as well, so thanks for that.
I went back and read my OP again and i realized that I actually did state that “Appeasing Whiners” about flipping profit was one of my goals. Over the course of the discussion i found other ways on how to improve the game experience in general with my edited proposal, mainly:

- More evenly spread gold distribution that is raised by profits from the tp (no matter by who or how much people they were raised) across the whole player base without having anybody to alternate his playstyle
- Less Wealth Disparity and a more even spread of gold rewards over all game content
- a more balanced economy in the long term as “professional” traders will be in charge of balancing it
- The ability for Anet to temporarily push players to try certain content that they would like to promote by temporarily adding a white karma gain buff on different content completion.

I dont think that i have to prove that a problem exists in order justify my proposal, as long as i can prove that the improvements towards the status quo justify implementation costs.

6/23 Economic Forecast

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

I’ve seen lots of posters here trying to influence the markets and Wanze certainly isn’t one of them, but believe what you want. Everything he has stated makes sense to me, but I’m not TP guru, so what do I know.

I always try to influence the markets that I invest in with my posts.

However, this one was primarily to educate people on how to anticipate changes to the meta and economy in general. I invested heavily in most items i talked about here:
Passion flowers, Karka Shells, Sprockets, Truffles, Ori and Ancient, Toxic Spores, Plat Doubloons, Quartz, Charged Ambrite, Salvageable Inscr/insignias, Runes/Sigils, Lunar New year Envelopes and food, the list goes on…
But I invested into all those mats for reasons stated above, not because I planned to make some posts on it on the forums to raise their prices.
Sure, due to my reputation there might be some added demand from other players reading this thread but compared to the demand through meta changes starting tomorrow, it will have very little influence on the outcome.
Some items, like inscriptions/insignias and popular runes and sigils will also see a much higher initial spike and go down again pretty quickly, as new supply comes in through secondary sources (mostly salvaging off exotic gear that is available on the tp for low prices) and some items, like quartz, sprockets, foods and food ingredients will see a more gradual rise in value in the next days weeks.

But getting back to the initial point, if I, as an experienced trader want to discuss what I am doing, its basically impossible without saying what I am trading in. And once I say it, it doesnt take long for someone to claim that i just do it for personal gain.
Even if I didnt invest in anything prior to this patch and would have posted the same forecast, people wouldnt believe me anyways.

I dont really care, if people think that i do this for personal gain and call me a manipulator and influencer. I cant force anybody to buy or sell anything on the tp, its always their own choice.

I expect to make alot of profit starting tomorrow because I am good at trading.
I would expect the same amount of profit from my investments, if I wouldnt have opened this topic in the first place.

TP killing real mmo fun

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

And on your last point, im different than you, im not here talking to try to protect my method of earning. Im not even advocating any actual nerfs to the TP or flipping. I am for increasing mmo fun. Problem is the reward system and how it is built to feed the tp, is lowering fun. Many games have rich people, who can buy the world, but there also a lot of people who earned items just as fast, if not faster by playing the game. Im not really playing this game to earn money, earning money is just what i have to do to get the things i want in the game. Id basically prefer i had some goals that a good, reasonable way of obtaining it was based on non TP gameplay.

But why do you keep posting in topics about profits on the tp instead of making suggestions on how to improve rewards for other parts of the game in the appropriate forums?

you realize any post about this stuff gets moved to this forum because this is the rewards part of the forum right?
You also realize that the OP of the post is saying i wish i didnt have to play the TP to get endgame items?

I am completely on topic an appropriate here.

All the OP did was to express his wish to obtain shinies through regular gameplay at the same pace as by playing the tp. He offered no suggestions towards rewards from regular gameplay but centered his post on the TP, so this topic is in the right forum.

Some other users, including you, start giving suggestions on how to improve rewards for other playstyles here but they get completely lost in topics like these because the title and OP doesnt imply that those suggestions might be included in this topic.
Devs will simply not see your feedback because its posted in an unrelated topic.

I am pretty sure, if you make a suggestion about reward structures in the appropriate sub forums and dont mention the Trading Post in your suggestion, it wont be moved here.

i wish they didnt move these threads here, but they do. What forum would you place these things in if you were a mod.
Hey mod, or john smith or whoever knows, what would you say the appropriate sub forums for discussing various rewards and their interaction with incentivizing gameplay be.

As i said, those threads get moved here because the title and OP discuss the TP, not rewards from other playstyles.

Badwrongfun in EotM

in WvW

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

I do find some like-minded people. I remember 5 of us stacking up on a couple trebs and several superior ACs

See, here’s the rub for me, you are essentially trolling. When 5 people can derail/take away the fun of the other 150+, you should be discouraged from it. And, trolling in EotM has to be the lowest form of game play in GW2. Especially when it is SO brain dead easy to defend in EotM.

The worst part of trolling in EotM is that the whole layer implodes once defense begins to occur. Most of the map population jumps ship to get away from the trolls. Do to the poorly instituted grouping of worlds, it’s already difficult to find a balanced layer to run around on.

If you want a “fix” for EotM, they should remove siege and only have “special” EotM transform siege like the Scorpions. Expand on those, with more transforms like the Koda, and EotM would be much more fun and prosperous game mode.

How does removing siege from EotM lead to a fun and prosperous game mode?
If entire zergs of upleveled, semi afk players get wiped by 2 arrow carts thats not because of those 2 arrow carts, its because those players are semi afk. If you take away the siege, it becomes even more braindead running in a circle.

I had great fun yesterday setting up a guild cata for each bridge leading up to the Statuary. They were all well hidden but in the open field. If the enemy commander opts to lead his zerg over a bridge that has 1% hp, he shouldnt be surprised, if he has to regroup at spawn.
I done it to the same zerg 3 times in a row on the same bridge. By then, you would have thought that the commander would stop in front of the bridge, send 3 guys over to destroy the cata and then move on. Nope, he went straight over it the 4th time.

Another fun moment was when i already had 2 bridges destroyed, those leading from the statuary to the juncture and towards the observatory. A group of 5-8 gankers was in front of the gate near the altar, preying on our people coming out of it.
When the buff on the statuary ran out, they went over there to cap it. I tried to destroy the last bridge while they ran over it but wasnt fast enough. Fortunately, I had a treb set up to fire cows with supply drain on the statuary champ. With no supply left to repair any of the bridges, they had no way out but to portal back to spawn.

Today i will try to master that approach by trebbing down each bridge to 1% health and wait until an entire zerg comes around to take the statuary. By firing cows at the champ I can drain all their supply and then 1-shot each bridge in front of them.

Also, some objectives spawn their reward chest quite close to a cliff, which is a great target for a cata shot to knock them off.

You are assuming that lower buy orders are from average joe and the highest bid is always from a fat cat, which is not the case.

Most propably, a low buy order in a price region that hasnt been filled in 2 or more months, is from an inactive or banned account. In that case, the buyer will never use that item but you activated gold that was currently inactive, contributing to gold inflation and item scarcity.

Applying Magic Find To Containers

To discourage unintended farming, more and more events now have awards which are given on completion and put into containers. Unfortunately, that even further discourages investing into Magic Find, as well as punishes loyal players who have been in the game for a long time.

I dont see where exactly the problem is. People who built up their mf until now, did so while knowing what mf influences (mob drops mainly). Those mobs still drop loot affected by mf, so i dont know where this punishment is you speak of because mf application has not been nerfed, since they got it.

Flamekissed Armor and Anets Unique Situation.

Wanze.8410

After reading alot of the hate The Flamekissed armor got I got to thinking about Anets situation and how they could really make a good change to the game. But first I want everybody to know I understand why your mad at it but at the same time think its a little silly what they should do is remove all the flame armor at the moment and redesign it the Medium and heavy look awful the light was the only good one.Now for the idea I have what if Anet were to start making all the Cultural Armor like that but through the Mystic forge and by that I mean you buy the original Cultural Armor you want then go to The Mystic Forge Then By adding the piece of Armor you want, 5 Ectos, 5 Lode Stones of your choosing, and 50 Thermocatalytic Reagent could change the armor piece to look Fiery,Icy,Electric,Corrupted ,ect and only have that on the Cultural t3 armor for all the races I think this would make the game alot more interesting and people could have a cool look with a little effort. I know this may seem like a big project for ANet but they have put out alot of big projects before and pretty fast at that what do you guys think Id like to hear what you have to say about my Idea and upvote so Anet can see if you like it.

- 5 Races
- 3 armor types
- 6 armor pieces
- 7 different Lodestones

630 different armor pieces need to be designed.

Not gonna happen, without Gems being involved in the aquisition.

On the value of "luxury" rewards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

Anet didnt give me any reward for trading.

Not a single copper.

Prove me wrong.

And ANet didn’t give you a single copper for beating a dungeon either, the dungeon did. You like to engage in this semantic discussion that money gained off the TP is somehow different than money gained off of other elements of the game because it passes through the hands of other players first, but it is still money earned from the game.

You still have it because ANet put systems in place that allow you to have it, just like any other system in the game. Yes, there are macroeconomic distinctions on play as regards gold sinks and faucets, but these are entirely irrelevant distinctions at the player level. All that matters at the player level is what gets added to your account, and what gets removed from your account, and on the player level it doesn’t matter in the slightest whether that money comes from a dungeon or from another player who got it from a dungeon.

ANet gave you ALL the rewards you made through trading, every single copper, just as much as ever copper earned by someone running a dungeon.

So, let me get this straight.

If a player buys a listing from me, i basically got that gold from Anet.
If that player gets a gold reward at the end of the dungeon its from the dungeon and not from Anet.

Its funny how you expect Anet to cater to your microeconomic needs and disregard macroconomic consequences but once i give a microeconomic transaction example, you start bringing in macroeconomic arguements.

But this thread made me realize one thing.

Whatever makes YOU happy in game, makes me unhappy in game.
So I think Anet should make additional changes to the game that you dont like in order to enhance my game experience because they should value my personal point of view.

Still able to craft celestial armor?

in Crafting

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

First you need the recipes for it, which are still available on the tp.
Keep in mind that you not only need the recipe for the insignia but also for each armor piece.

Then you need Quartz Crystals, 125 for each armor piece.
If you dont have any and didnt finish the meta achievement during the event (which spawns a daily harvest node for quartz in the home instances) you cant harvest them right now, so again, you need to get those from the TP.
So for one full set, you need 750 quartz crystals.
Then you need to make Charged Quartz Crystals by charging 25 regular crystals at a skill point (best spot is the one South of Divinity´s Reach).
That can be done only once a day because it is time gated, meaning you need 30 days to craft a full celestial set becasue each piece requires 5 charged crystals for the insignia.

Celestial inscriptions for weapons also require 5 charged crystals, Exquisite Jewels to slap on your Trinkets cost only 1 charged crystal.

Dyes - Gamble & Flipping Market

1. I’m not the only one who hates to gamble.
2. I would rather pay 800 gems for the whole dye pack, account bound or give us the option.
3. COME ON! its just color, this should be free in the first place.
4. There is someone out there buying all the low quantity rare dyes and just over pricing it, +800g.
5. I used to play the flipping game back when I was playing RS but GW2 has to much actions and I have limited time to just play another flipping market game. So no, Im not going to do that again.
6. We all love a free market but somethings just give an advantage, especially things coming out the Gem Store.

Some rich dude who doesnt even bother much about dyes and the way he looks, just bought that dye for 800g, just to make you jealous.

Thats crazy! I wouldnt mind buying the whole pack if they sold it for 800 gems($10) instead of gambles because thats already like +$90 by the time it gets to flippers

I am sorry but my guild was having its weekly manipulation-workshop the other day and in honor of Exclusivity Month, which Tin Foil [Hats] holds every year in August in anticipation of Anniversary Week, we discussed several concepts and action plans to express our exclusivity while making a gold coin or two.

While we have always been a bunch of super-wealthy know-it-alls, whose primary goals were to get super wealthy and manipulate markets in order to make the overall gaming experience for casuals and veterans alike as dislikeful as possible, we have also started to rp.

To distinguish ourselves from casuals and non hardcore veterans, we invented new looks for our mains that on one hand use skins and dyes that are limited, so they are easily manipulated with the unlimited gold supply we have, and on the other hand, show how awesome and amazing we are.
Once we established. which skins and dyes we want to use, we bought up all remaining supply, not to resell them with a profit but to make the mayority of the supply unavailable to all the casuals and noncore veterans, which we deem unworthy to even apply to join our exclusive, amazing and awesomely super wealthy club of gentlemen.

[Economy] Lodestones

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

Its usually bad for players that need them and good for players that want to farm and sell them.
To the economy it doesnt really matter because you have to see prices in general in relation to the gold that is in the economy and is coming in on a daily basis (and destroyed through gold sinks).

Most of the time, prices in general rise and fall with the amount of gold in game (inflation/deflation).

Season 2 for example had a high output of t5 fine mats (claws, fangs etc), especially during the festivals (halloween and wintersday for snowflakes) and they nearly lost half their value within 4 months. Now the bulk of those t5 mats is used to craft rare weapons to forge for precursors. So precursors lost a couple of hundred gold in value in same cases. But as t5 mats also make up a good amount of daily loot for end game players, they got less gold for their loot compared to 4 months ago, which means the average time to farm the gold to buy a precursor didnt really got shorter, even though they got cheaper.
