Whats the fastest way to farm presents?

Bell choir is second best. Right now, if you are really good at the jumping puzzle, you can get (tops) 150 presents in half an hour, or 300/hour (30 minute rounds, each run takes approximately 2 minutes). This is assuming you have fast loading screens and don’t die at all, so on average, assuming you are decently good, you can make 220-240/hour. This is the best way to farm them atm.

If you suck at jumping puzzles, go bell choir :P

You’ll have to take in that the JP is much more stressful than the Bell Choir.

And maybe lower the achievement amount. I mean, geez. 2500?
10,000?

Who does these things? -_-#

You must be new to Guild Wars then. It’s been like this since GW1, and I think GW1 has even seen higher numbers.

I am too.

But did they have to add it 3 times??? Why not once, and 2 other completely different hairstyles.

Yeah, one looks like a low(er) quality version of her hair. Ah well.. I’m rocking that Jora look atm, so I’m content.

I had all the initial gifts the very first day. I ended up with 360 ish drinks that day. The 2nd day I ended up with 890 drinks (without the initial gifts), and the 3rd day I ended up with nearly 1200.

Funny enough, the first day was the hardest imho. I spent too much time in one go on Bell Choir and it became tedious. Now I just alternate between dailies and Bell Choir, etc. It’s so much more do-able.

Ok, although it’s very hard to believe that it’s “just a bit of choir bell” as every full round gives about 25? presents. And presents have got a 80% chance of dropping beverages.

A full complete round gives you exactly 18 presents. And I think the 80% is a lie, it’s less or I’m just unlucky. I complete 5-10 rounds, then I do something else, and when I’m done with that I go back to Bell Choir, do another 5-10 rounds, and do something else again.

I’ve never been good at builds, but I think condi ele is the (or at least one of) thing. But that might be just a raid thing. I always hear my guildie be all ecstatic during raids. And I guess warrior is flat dmg? I don’t have these types of characters at 80, so I have no idea. But this is just my general idea. Check the gw2 wiki page for nomenclatures. There might be a few new ones you haven’t seen before.

Can you tone down the frostbite?

Yarrmor.8406

I’m happy they made it harder. It’s still absurdly easy and significantly easier than the clocktower, but the increased damage means there is more possibility of failure and that recovering from a mistake is highly improbable.

What other mistake is there you can make, besides falling off? Which has nothing to do with the frostbite, since it’s insta death.

During the first part of the jump it’s sometimes possible to save yourself on a part of the jump below you. Also during the last part of the run getting hit by the snowbolder or the skritt wasn’t a guaranteed lose, just a likely one, now it’s significantly more likely.

You mean, falling on one of the towers? That’s the same as falling of the course. End of the line. Also, I think the snowboulder actually insta killed you before. And the snowboulder and the skritt (didn’t even notice it was a skritt that threw the stuff) are tied to a pattern. Study it. You have enough time to wait one cycle of them.

Also, if you have time to look around and see that it’s a skritt you waste time not running.

It has nothing to do with looking around, they’re talk throughout the run about trying to hit the runners. Also during the last section of the run, just before you turn off the path to jump into the box, you can see some of them in the distance on a platform.

I don’t mean falling on the platform, I mean falling from one level to a level below. I saw it just yesterday, in fact, then watched the character run out of health well before the end.

The boulders MAY have been an instakill the first year, but I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure they always knocked you back. As for the pattern of the snowballs, they’re not consistent from one run to the next. Sometimes they’re timed very poorly for actually traversing that part of the puzzle.

I’m 100% sure the snowballs are patterned and tied to the snowboulder. And if you fall off, and happened to land on a snowflake below you, you still fell off, though luck and try again. I hate to be the one to say it, but get good?

Don’t stop running, use action camera, learn the pattern and timing, and have good luck on the presents. That are all the tips I can give you guys, and frankly that’s all there is to the JP. And if you really can’t do it, ask a friend to do it for you. I’ve done it a few times for my friends previous years. And I know of other people that ask friends too.

I assume you’re trying to teach me how to do it for some reason. I don’t need to be taught. Any time I fail it’s because of stupid mistakes more related to my mouse and keyboard not doing what I meant for them to do when I did. I can do the snowflakes without the snowflakes actually being there before I jump.

The snow balls are on a pattern, they will always land at the same time in relation to the passing of the boulders. What they won’t do is follow that pattern consistently from zone instance to zone instance. While it will be the same for every run within an instance, when you get moved to a new instance after the timer runs out it will most likely be slightly or significantly different.

The thing that isn’t consistent from run to run, however, is the pattern of presents popping. Even if you get used to the pattern you want, they will shift to a different pattern, for no apparent reason.

I’m in this thread advocating for harsher time restrictions, not for an easier run.

I guess the “get good” and tips parts were more directed to the amount of people that browse these forums for an answer.

I’ve never noticed a difference in the snowballs for each instance. I’ve always had them appear on the exact same timing. And I’ve been in multiple instances across multiple days. I even remembered the pattern from previous years. So highly unlikely that I got lucky and had the same pattern all these times, if there were different ones.

The Wintersday is by far one of the easiest JPs I’ve done in GW2. The only thing thats “hard” about it is getting a bad spawn/pattern with the exploding presents. I had presents of the middle row (the only path you should take) not reappear. Also, presents exploding next to you causes a knock back, happened once to me.

How get rid of auto attack when i use Retreat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Basically the title says it all.

Everytime i use ’’retreat’’ to move faster, my character randomly shoots whatever mob is in my line of sight, turning me into combat state, and making me move even slower than before.

How do i prevent this? it’s really too annoying and causing me to stop using retreat, because right now, it’s useless.

Using those skills puts you into combat, draw your weapon and if a mob is near, you’ll attack him. There is an option in the menus where you can disable auto targetting, not sure if it will help though. I just immediatly press “C” again to put my weapon away.

The candy cane is 2.5k, not 25k iirc. Also, by just playing a bit of bell choir each day I get almost 400 drinks a day. The JP and the PvP event are way to stressful to succesfully farm.

EDIT: Also, it’s been like this since GW1. It’s almost like a tradition. But keep the salt to a minimum, as it does tend to melt snow.

I doubt that you’re really getting 400 drinks/~500 gifts a day by playing “a bit of choir bell” – are you sure you don’t count the initial achievements in? As you’ll get quite a lot of gifts for completing the achievements, not so many afterwards = farming the skin without the TP is impossible.

Actually, it’s been a lot easier than the last time I did the JP (which was the very first Wintersday). Back then the snowflakes would disappear behind you, causing it to catch up to you if you even stood still for 0.5 sec. You had to keep running in order to make it. I always have 2k-2.5k ish health over when I reach Tixx.

So, don’t stop running and I find using Action Camera really helpful.

Maybe the fortune lady’s gone to someone else. I used to get 3 ectos out of 1 salv more often than I’d get 1 out of it. And I got more often 1 out of it, than 0. Also, I rarely get 2 out of 1 salv. Done like 250 salvs with BLSK already, and I think I got like 3 or 4 times 2 ectos xD

You know this could all be easy solved by just removing Magic Find and then normalizing drops.

Then no one can complain about the stat differences between Magic Find and regular gear, and drops would be fixed to not rely on Magic Find anymore. Everyone would have the same drop rate and no one would be gimped/gimping their team.

Drops are low as it is already, and it seems the only solution is to wear Magic Find gear. Which in turn, upsets other players in dungeons as they feel like the person in Magic Find gear, is contributing less for their own greed. So if they just fix drops and raise the drop rate, they can remove Magic Find gear and everyone will be happy. Right?

Just because it upsets some players, the players who actually enjoy it needs to pay up? That’s the weakest mindset I’ve heard yet.

“Well I’m upset when I get pwnd by a confusion build mesmer, better remove that and everybody will be happy. Right?”

What are you even talking about? Pay up? For what?

You won’t be punished if Magic Find is removed. Drops will be normalized for everyone so there will be no need for Magic Find anymore. It stops discrimination towards those who wear Magic Find and stops people from complaining about other contributing less cause they wear Magic Find gear.

Seriously, think before you speak. You didn’t even read what I wrote.

No I actually chose to wear MF knowing my DPS will drop. And yes, getting MF removed because people who don’t like it, is considered paying up in my dictionary (if that’s the right choice of words, my english sayings isn’t that great). What really makes people stop complaining is their own friggin mindset. When some random dude joins you for a dungeon, you can’t order them around what to wear and what not.

Yes, yes you can order them around. It is your group that you are forming. If someone does not meet your expectations, you can kick them or tell them what you expect. That is the point of making your own group. You make the rules, you choose what you want in your group. If you don’t want someone in full MF gear, kick them. It’s your group, you can do whatever you want.

And like you said. You choose to wear MF gear, even though your DPS drops. So you admit that you are contributing less to your party for your own selfish greed. Now if MF was removed and drops were normalized, you would be contributing 100% to your group and still getting the same drop rate chance that you would if you had MF gear.

So exactly what is the problem?

My party respects my decision, in the end it’s my decision I made. They actually enjoy my MF armor. Whenever I wear it, their rare drops have increased times 4 on an average dungeon run. Be it actual because of me, or just stupid plain old dumb luck and superstition, they like it. And that is way more contributing than a couple extra dps in my opinion.

MF only increases your own personal gain. It is not party wide. You are the only one who benefits from your MF gear, not them.

And at least you admit that your own personal greed is more important than your contribution to the party. Now I know why you are against my idea. Because you enjoy having that higher chance at loot over helping the group out more.

Yes, I enjoy the higher chance of having loot. Plus, my party enjoys it and doesn’t mind when I do. They wear it too, yet we get through most dungeons. Because we have FUN playing the game. We don’t need to win every kitten time. In the end it is a friggin game. They don’t order everybody to wear what they want. If you want something to order around, get a dog. Who are you to tell me what I need to do?

What really makes people stop complaining is their own friggin mindset. When some random dude joins you for a dungeon, you can’t order them around what to wear and what not.

Oh and yes, I get punished when MF is removed. It’ll remind me how simple minded my fellow players are.

I also have things I hate about this game, but you don’t hear me complaining about them. If there is something that needs change badly, I trust in Anet to notice it themselves.

why do people hate magic find?

Right?”

Whatever you guys all say. But my regular party members love it when I bring my MF armor set. Just because YOU don’t like it, doesn’t mean that I’m not allowed to wear it. Then again, about the loss of DPS. In my party, I don’t have the role of dealing the dmg. I still have the strength to survive and aid my party members (read: healing, buffing) while they do the dmg. I survive longer than the rest of time. Ofcourse in spare time I deal some dmg too.

Will I get banned for this?

I’ve been at the bottom of Rata Sum running around… Nothing to be afraid of… I’ve also been on top of a cave so I could see through the ceiling. Though, there is little chance that by doing that would be in advantage since I got myself stuck…

Ecto drop nerfed or is it just me?

I’m using the BLSK for ectos and normally I would have around 1 salv : 1.3-1.5 ectos. But now I’m getting 1:0.5… And looking at the ecto price the last few days, it seems I’m not the only one. Anyone knows something about this… stealth nerf… or did I just miss something?

I hate the fact that we got to transmute the gem stuff for a chance to get stuff you could farm for free… All I got back from those boosters were a ton of candy corn and some other stuff you get from Trick or Treat bags… Seriously?

I agree with removing them completely. You can’t even send scouts up a hill without them getting noticed. They get spotted before they get into view :S

Yes, there are some sexy revealing armors. But ANet did such a good job in armor design, now we want more. \:D/

I was hoping for some more armor like the tier 3 cult heavy armor for the norn female. I think that one is one of the best imo. Tier 2 heavy isn’t bad either. I’d love to see more like that. And of course there is the tier 3 female human light and medium.

I don’t see a big problem on both sides. It’s only a simple adding. On the other hand. That wouldn’t make it to hard to implement. I’m fine as it is now, but wouldn’t mind having it added.

Your map remembering resource node locations

Don’t some of the nodes spawn random? If so, after a long while of gaming and gathering your map would be full of nodes locations. And I think the radius on the minimap is good enough. Force you to actually run around and search. Not simple walk along a designated route you made beforehand. It’ll make the game easier which in the long term will make it more boring, IMO.

That would make the naked low lvl runs to Arah impossible

No, don’t place a level restriction. Let ANet place GMs to check the regular visited farms. Don’t alter the game just for the bots. That’s one of the worst things I’ve seen TBH.
