I agree that the quantity buttons that are present should work too. It is frustrating in general, but with the Fancy Furniture Coins, it is really miserable, since after the festival you can’t trade them in anymore for Super Clouds. I just added 1050 to our guild hall. It took 30 minutes….

I was just finishing up my run today and was in the guild hall to trade in my SAB coins. As I was loading in, GW2 64-bit client crashed. I decided to reboot, but before I got a chance Windows crashed (DRIVER_POWER_STATE_PROBLEM – probably associated with my touchpad driver – I use a mouse and the touchpad is supposed to be off).

Windows 10 1607 then installed a bunch of updates and Comodo updated itself. When I came back and started GW2, there was this large green rectangle around the outside of the GW2 loading window.

Once I got into the game, my right mouse button would no longer work to move the viewpoint. Pressing it causes the pointer to disappear, but it doesn’t actually do anything.

I have tried reloading the mouse driver, but that didn’t help.

Now I am a bit stuck. The game (certainly the jumping puzzles, SAB, etc.) is pretty much unplayable with no right mouse button support.

I really hope you can help me.

Yesterday I had to run Buried Insights 4 almost full times before it worked, and that is a really long one with a lot of content that can’t be skipped. I will try and outline what went wrong and what I think finally went right. If I am right, you should be able to reproduce it fairly easily.

This is my 4th character to go through this story step and I had a couple of achievements left, so I decided to do them at the same time. After killing the final set of chak outside of the lab stage, I went to kill all of the defensive items. In the process I stumbled over the defective golem and got its page, plus the one underwater. At that point I didn’t know the specifics for that achievement. During that time, Taimi had continued on through the passageway on her own. When I had gotten the achievement Cleaning House, I quickly caught up to her and helped kill the final ballistic cannon and the golem. She was stuck at that point, just before the lab waiting for my character to say something, but wouldn’t move. I realized it was bugged fairly quickly, so I cut my losses and relogged the character to try again.

The next time through went a bit quicker, since I didn’t have to kill all the defensive items. When we got to the control room, I grabbed the last page I needed for the New Horizons achievement still having the first two in inventory. I then ran through the rest of the story, right up to the final piece of dialogue. However, when I got to the final room, I turned on the exit portal for the New Horizons achievement before all of the final dialogue was spoken. Just when I should have gotten the quest reward, I got a message that I had been disconnected from the server. To say the least, I was not happy.

So, I started again. This time I already had all 3 pieces of paper for New Horizons in my inventory, so I just played straight through to the end. Again I turned on the console for the New Horizons exit before the final bit finished. Again just before the quest reward at the exact same place, I was disconnected from the server. I was beginning to get pretty fed up.

I tried again. Before I started I removed all three pages from my inventory. During the story, when Taimi heads up for the turret near the lab corridor but before the defensive systems turn on, I quickly picked up the page from the defective golem and the one underwater. I then caught up with her and continued into the lab where I grabbed the last one. I then played through to the end, but this time, I waited until I got the quest reward before I went to the exit console. I then put in the code, and went through the portal getting the New Horizons achievement.

My suspicion is (although I changed two conditions here – getting the pages all fresh in the same episode and at what point I entered the code in the console) if the code has been entered into the console prior to the quest reward, something in the code fails causing the disconnect. Whether this is client or server side I couldn’t say.

One other point, at no time did I ever see a little gold medallion for the New Horizons achievement. I have no idea if it is supposed to have one or not.

So a fairly long and intensive debugging session for your code yesterday evening, but I suspect I have narrowed in on the culprit. Assuming you can skip through the content much faster than I could in your test rig, you should be able to reproduce this one fairly easily.

Thinking about it longer, I think if ArenaNet can implement a requirement that you type in the name of an item before you can delete it, then they should add this if the last person leaves a guild, so that they have to type in the name of the guild. This would prevent any such thing happening by accident again.

I just did a similar test, I created a guild for testing. I tried this both at the Guild Initiative and in the guild hall of my main guild. In both cases, it asked me if I wanted to leave. Either he encountered a bug, or he clicked without realizing what it meant. I still think if you are the guild founder and the only one in a guild, such that if you leave it will be deleted, that a second box should pop up warning you (in CAPS) that leaving the guild will cause it to be DELETED.

It is simply too easy to make this mistake. I have had customers contact me, who, after entering data for 6 months into a database, accidentally selected Remove Table from the File menu, rather than Remove Record from the Data menu. They confirmed it, like usual, and the database was gone together with 6 months work. They called us in a panic, and I told them to not use their computer for anything else, just leave it. I was then able to use an undelete program (Windows 3.x days, not Windows NT, et. al.), and recovered the entire database for them. It was a lucky one, since otherwise it would have been a disaster.

Yesterday, while in the guild hall for our main guild, my son accidentally clicked on the Leave Guild button, middle left side in the Guild Panel, rather than on the Exit Guild Hall button in the upper right. It then promptly deleted his bank guild and kicked him out of the guild hall. There was no confirmation dialog “Do you really want to leave this guild, you are the only member”, it just deleted his bank guild with no warning.

He contacted support and they told him, “tough luck”. I’m sorry, but I am in the software business and this is as bad as UI design gets. It is UI design 101 that whenever the user is going to do something that could be catastrophic, you ask them if they are sure.

Now, someone who has been a fairly avid player of both GW1 and GW2 has gone completely off the game. He has no current interest in playing. I understand that. It is as if you left a booby trap for him to find and he accidentally triggered it. It is that feeling that you get when you come home from holiday and find your house was cleaned out while you were away. Visceral.

You could have prevented it. You could also have given in and restored it from a backup. Instead, you told the customer it was their tough luck. Makes me glad I didn’t apply to work with you.

I will stick with my much smaller but more reliable software company any day. We understand when “we” screw up (though we wouldn’t make one of these junior programmer errors).

When attempting to donate exotic luck items in the guild hall, I started with a 250 stack plus a 1 in my inventory. When I double-clicked it, it transferred all of the luck and said it was putting in 33. I immediately closed the window. I then tried splitting it into 30’s. I managed to get 1 30 in, trying to add the second moved them all in and gave me 3. (total of 33 again…). So,, I added the 30 by itself, closed the vendor, and opened him again. I was able to add the 1, but adding any group of 30 made all my luck disappear on the left and showed 2. I tried again and attempted to add the 100, I got 3 and nothing on the left. Arggghhh!

Strange Observations – Step 3 – Share the news of …

If you go out the way you came in, instead of turning right as you come out of the cave, then when you get to the bottom of the cliff where they are all standing, Taimi ports up to them. You then walk back around the way you should have to start with, and they just ignore you, no one reacts to you arriving at the quest marker. You have to start over.

Mesmer clones don’t appear in the initial challenge after passing through the portal in the City Of Hope. Phantasms worked, but clones did not appear. Ether Feast did not seem to ever heal me. Also, when downed, after using skill 2, skill 4 does not help resurrect you, you make no progress on healing.

And, as I said, the Devs addressed that ‘feature’ in the Guild Chats. Seth, I believe, stated there were no templates to save decoration themes. Removal is done with 3 sizes of ‘erasers’. Arenas placements are saved if at least one person remains, though I’m a bit fuzzy on that one.

(To save time, I believe the questions were answered on the last Guild Chat, so one might start there, but I could be mistaken on which one.)

That’s why watching the Guild Chats might be informative. Up to Op, of course.

Actually I watched those. If you read my original post you would see that I was asking for the ability to save, clear and reload complete templates. I appreciate that this functionality isn’t in there yet, but one of the stated goals of the guild halls is that we the players could create new game modes.

I have been designing software systems for 30+ years, and as a result I tend to immediately think about the consequences of something in software. For me that means that I see the bottlenecks that can be resolved with a bit of thought. In a 500-person guild, there will be numerous people who want to decorate the hall or the arena, design new game modes, etc. With the current situation, it will greatly inhibit our ability to create new game modes, do special designs for holidays, etc.

I am not looking for this immediately, but I see it as being a very worthwhile enhancement that supports the original goal of helping players create new game modes.

We have been discussing the issues around using the guild hall and the arena decorations for various things, and several issues have arisen. They all boil down to:

Can we have the following abilities?

1. Save GH decorations as: <name>.
2. Remove all GH decorations.
3. Restore GH decorations from: <name>.

Same for the arena.

Having these abilities would allow us to have a standard look for our guild hall that we can save off, and then allow us to create themed looks for special events, jumping puzzles, etc.

This is even more important with the arena, where we might want to create various game modes and we wouldn’t want to just throw all that work away later.

Even if you can’t do it yet,please consider it strongly, since it will make a powerful feature really useful.

Where these get stored is obviously an issue, and how many slots if you have to store them server side is also an issue, but I doubt they take up that much space, compared to other stuff.

Guild Mission Reset Time Changed

We have the same issue Kalendraf. We run our missions (like many here in the EU) on Sunday evenings. If for whatever reason people can’t make the main guild mission run or if we need the merits and we fail the mission (or it bugs and doesn’t give credit), we arrange for a make-up later in the week.

With this change, our Sunday missions will not have a redo chance. This is the one event the guild does where we have the most people online and together at one time, but I suspect we will have to eventually have to change this if there is a risk we might fail a mission.

Yes, I think I noticed most around the mushrooms. As for first person view, it is almost impossible to survive the various attacks you are facing in that mode, the enemies are extremely mobile and come in groups.

At various places in the Verdant Brink terrain, my vision would suddenly become obscured by terrain, as if there were tendrils, or branches, or whatever in my view. I could move around as I liked, nothing helped. As far as I could tell, I wasn’t actually under anything to cause it, and when it would occasionally clear, looked around and couldn’t see anything obvious that might have been the thing that was blocking my vision.

I had this happen in a number of places around the terrain. I remember having it happen in the caves west of the Itzel city, as well as other places.

A suggestion from our guild founder was:

“Make at least some of the decorations able to be interacted with, with a text box coming up upon interaction, and with the Architects/Leader able to set/edit that text (or Architects just set, and Leader edit, too). This would allow guilds to actually commemorate guild-specific things: here’s a decorative column celebrating the launch of HoT, there are some crossed swords to commemorate a PvP tournament, here’s a monument for a guildie’s new child, there’s a great bearded man carved in stone to keep the memory of some random guy – all can be touched and everyone can read a bit about the guild’s history, its achievements, its breaking points.”

They don’t have to do that. Instead they can either just give credit to the guild once the requirements are met and keep the event open until the timer runs out, or when the timer runs out as long as the requirements have been met, grant credit to the guild, even if no one is in the area.

If they really want to resolve the problems in WvW, they will need to address the issues of population and coverage. Having said that, they could still do a number of things to improve the overall game play:

1. Add a system that rewards for events that works more like the current Silverwastes. In detail, they should reward with champ bags, etc.

2. To make it more interesting, they should also reward toward the PPT values whenever an objective is taken, but it should be on a sliding scale. For example, if you flip a T1 objective, you should get X points, a T2 should give 2X and a T3 should give 3X.

3. The points awarded should also take into account how long it takes to flip something. The faster it flips, the less you get (penalize the blob trains). So to the value in 2, apply a modifier based on the speed something flips.

4. Grant bonuses for being sneaky. If you managed to sneak a mesmer into an objective, so that you don’t have to fight anything but the lord, give a bonus for not killing the external guards before killing the internal ones (needs some refinement with timers, etc.). This will help offset the modifier from 3 for a quick flip.

The items mentioned in points 2, 3, and 4 above should not just grant PPT points, but should also affect the chest rewards mentioned in 1 in a similar way. Apply the same to EotM and you can still rescue that map to some degree.

The biggest difference between the EotM map and the new BL map is that defending the new one matters. It is worth remembering that the EotM map was intended to give a WvW-like experience when you can’t get into WvW because of queues. It can’t also be used for PPT because server size imbalances would be magnified there.

I just did this episode on my elementalist with some friends and when I was transformed into a sylvari, I cast Ice Bow and it went immediately on cool down and did not appear in my hands. The Ice Bow on the ground could not be picked up.

I am really sorry that real life has kept me too busy to realize that this CDI was going on now. I have speed read through it and had a couple of thoughts about the issue of guild halls and alliances that doesn’t seem to have been considered other than briefly.

It seemed to me that one approach that could work assuming instanced is to place guild halls in the mists, and in the event of an alliance, to position them in proximity to one another within the same instance with land or sky bridges, or whatever connecting them to either one another directly or to some common piece of land. With a decent algorithm this shouldn’t be that hard and would support alliances with multiple guilds. If a guild leaves the alliance, then they simply won’t be mapped into the same space.

The above obviously assumes that a guild would only be able to be in one alliance at a time, which makes sense when I think about it, though others may think differently.

Siege disabler trap

So far what we have experienced is that with roughly even numbers of defenders and attackers, because our opponents server has a night-capping squad, after 3 hours this morning we were still unable to get back our Hills. They had sieged up Hills to the teeth, were firing siege disablers left right and center, sending out warriors and thieves to disable siege further out, etc. At the same time, very little of their siege was reachable from the outside, and that was usually taken out without the help of a siege disabler.

I am sure that this tool is helpful when defending against large groups with a small team, but it is ridiculously overpowered when used by large groups who are defending strategic locations. Like many other things in WvW, it favors high WvW population servers and especially those with 24/7 coverage.

It would have been better if they had come up with something that addressed the issues of coverage when servers have different capabilities in this area.

I am sure the meta will adjust, and some of the fights we had were epic, but the fact is that a large blob of mainly inept players can fight off a group of good players merely by use of this newest cheap trick.

I agree with some that the duration should be shortened. Currently placing siege with those around makes the siege pretty much useless, since it will be destroyed before it ever gets enabled again.

Same here, just checked. Backpiece was made a week or so ago, the seed was never out of my inventory (I have multiple characters going through the content). Now it is a Pet Seed.

That may be, we will see. However, it is never a good sign to have 5 people do a high level fractal and none of them get any reward at all. I am not impressed with the algorithm at this stage.

Actually it is 5 data points. I have never done a higher level fractal run where not one person got at least a ring or chest or a weapon skin (usually 2 or 3 people get either an infused or uninfused ring). This is the first time it has happened, now that they have improved the loot at higher levels….

Just did our first 49 since the patch, all 5 of us got nothing. No rings (infused or otherwise), no weapon or armor chest, no fractal weapon skins, nothing…. We got better loot before the patch. The drops were also nothing particularly special. Not feeling it yet here either.

Yeah, I went to the Black Lion Armor guy and it gave them back to me, one for each of the outfits I had on each character that had them. I admit it is somewhat annoying that now I need an extra slot for the toy.

The past couple of weeks we have had this problem that the rush or the puzzle or both were started when we arrived. We did them, left people to wait for the pop up to claim credit, and then it ended without ever asking any of us. We had to redo them later in the week.

Same here. I have done around 14-15 Knight events, have gotten the gold level award each time, and from them I have gotten around 5 times the loot rewards. That should have been every time, something is definitely wrong. Just did the event again on Gunnar’s Hold at 10am GMT and many others who were there said the same thing, no loot from the Knights.

As Malchior said (hiya Malchior!), many things were changed during the course of the beta. All of them made it more playable. I have to admit though, I think we shot ourselves slightly in the foot with the suggestion of making the overflows server-wide instead of matchup wide, and that we suggested aligning on server color. Thinking it through now after the fact, it allies the strongest servers on the same side, and the weakest servers on the same side based on the current matchup. It probably would have been better to randomize the server alliances, avoiding servers that are against each other in the current matchup, but the algorithm would be much harder than what they are using now.

The running issue was reported, but there is a counter-argument that was just as important.

The issue is that if you are being attacked by a large zerg, and you manage to take somebody out of the area (by destroying a bridge with them on it, knocking them off the map, etc.) you want it to take some time for them to come back. This lets you break up the zergs. Normally, if you die in the zerg, you get rezzed and that is that, you don’t have to run back. There is no benefit to defending against one unless you are just as big. By making people run back who get eliminated, you give the defenders a chance to repair, bring up reinforcements, build some defensive siege, etc.

At the same time, people want to get back to their group, so there are various advantages for that depending on which area you have. If you are red, you have the Altar buff normally available, which is a speed buff and invulnerability. If you are blue you have the Wurm tunnels which can get you places faster once you learn them. Green is usually strongest so they don’t seem to have an extra speed buff, though many classes have speed buffs they can use anyway.

Once you have played a lot more in the map, you will start to realize different strategies, and people wll start to realize that just zerging around is not the most effective solution. This map benefits from breaking into smaller roaming groups (15-30) and tackling multiple objectives concurrently.

The Aetherblade ship was present throughout the beta test. There were also Aetherblade pirates in the center of the map throughout the test. They weren’t just added as an afterthought a week or so ago.

Also, the assumption that the Edge of the Mists is little more than a place to hang out while queuing for WvW is wrong. It is a viable WvW-style playable area, that like PvE environments can spawn additional overflow instances as required.

It is a very cool map on its own, with plenty of interesting game play mechanics. It is entirely likely that it may well provide a bridge to WvW-style content for the more PvE-oriented players.

Having played quite a bit of the beta test, even though I am probably a casual WvW player and certainly tend more towards PvE, I really enjoyed the variety of content, combat opportunities, and the layout of the map.

Rather than moaning before you have even been there, since there is little that will do to change things, I suggest that you play it when it arrives and give it a chance. It was a huge chunk of work and provides a place for ArenaNet to test ideas that will eventually make their way back into WvW.

Can't move after hit by Golem MkII AOE slam

During the Golem Mark II fight, I was hit with his AOE slam, and was face down on the ground. I couldn’t move. I cast a spell, which caused me to stand up, but I still couldn’t move. I was also unable to WP, because I was in combat. I wasn’t able to move at all until I got hit by his AOE again, after which I was able to move normally. I’m an ele, so I couldn’t try a weapon swap to see if that solved it. Thinking about it, this is the second time this has happened.

Arcane Wave does not blast if large group

I have noticed for a few months now that when I am in a large group (30+) either in WvW or PvE, if I drop Healing Rain and then go into it and fire Arcane Wave, nothing happens. No AOE heal, it just sort of fizzles, the skill goes on normal cooldown, and I get nothing for it. I have also seen the effect in Geyser.

At first I thought it was some sort of weird skill lag, because I noticed that although I pushed the usual key combination, the water field was not appearing before the arcane wave was fired (although it was pressed afterwards), so I very carefully started watching for the appearance of the field before firing Arcane Wave and it definitely is simply not causing a blast finisher. It never happens in small groups (like a dungeon run).

A separate issue is that sometimes skills do not fire at all, which definitely messes up play as elementalist, since a lot of what you do is lay down fields and blast them.

No golems for Claw of Jormag

Last night (around 8 hours ago) we were also at Jormag (Gunnars Hold) and during the second phase no golems spawned. We had a large group and still managed to kill it, but it was a lot harder. It also seemed like the champion mobs spawned more frequently, but that may have simply been due to how long it took.

I recently noticed that the flame ram dropped by Siegerazor during the breakout event does not apply structural vulnerabilty when the player uses the 2 skill and is appropriately traited, unlike flame rams dropped by players. This has so far been completely consistent, it isn’t intermittent. It always fails to apply structural vulnerability when it should.

One of the techniques discussed is that the overflow maps might be cross-server, but green would be with green, red with red, and blue with blue.

That would avoid either a map empty of enemies if you are the dominant server and the other two are are not as numerous, or in the other case, if you are from a low pop server and decide to go to EotM only to find you are practically alone on your side facing all the overflow mobs from the larger pop servers.

The thought was that by mixing all servers of same color on the maps, that they would fill in a more proportionate manner.

This is still early days and we can’t just log in when we want, currently we can only log in during scheduled testing phases, so it is not possible to attempt the test mentioned earlier.

I have read most of the posts above, and see a common thread in many of them, which I also feel strongly about:

1. With the move to 2 week releases, even as a regular daily player I feel rushed almost continually. There is little time left to go back and explore the achievements we didn’t do before, or to level a new character and actually enjoy the story, etc. Also, there are a bunch of things to do daily to the point where just doing that can take an hour or more.

2. Permanent changes to the landscape. I realize that with the character progression and personal story, it seems impossible to change places like Orr, but in fact, it was done in GW1 too. I specifically remember that Kryta changed during the War In Kryta and was different depending on the current progression of the character you were playing. Something like this could happen in Orr too, for example, probably by having two separate maps and if your character has completed the personal story you get the new one, where the effects of the cleansing of the Source and the defeat of Zhaitan are shown, and if you haven’t, you get the existing one.

This gets you out of the dilemma. It also provides a time line mechanism whereby you can even progress beyond that stage in the same area and add a third or fourth map. This gives incentive to the player base to revisit these areas, because they become new again. There may be a need to allow transition back to a previous stage, so that we can play with friends and help with character progression (or to fight a boss that may not exist in that timeline, like Tequatl – who realistically has to go eventually too, if he is a lieutenant of Zhaitan).

3. For the most part I don’t object to any of the characters at this point, even though Scarlet has come out of nowhere. Sometimes things happen that way. Still, a way to revisit old content is important, and once the content is tied together better it may make more sense.

4. As said elsewhere, GW1 provided a wealth of lore that we can build on, even if you don’t wish to revisit Cantha or Elona anytime soon. Exploration is important to the player base, and having things like we had in GW1 that encouraged exploration makes a difference. If it is not time-gated, people will be less inclined to look it up on a guide somewhere and to just try it cold. (The Black Moa Chick cross-map scavenger hunt took me about a month solo – but was great fun and I visited a lot of out of the way places while also doing additional content I might not have gotten to anyway – or maybe not without a push – like Sorrow’s Furnace and that whole section).

My 3:

1. I will take a note from what one om my customers said to me about our software products: “Don’t add new stuff until you have fixed everything in what you have.” I take this heavily to heart, though I also know that certain things have to be in place in my products, even if a few niggles still exist. Nonetheless, there are a raft of things that are small but should be relatively easy to fix in the current game, like: switching chars loses my guild chat history…but not the map chat – not logical.

2. Guild halls and other guild content, like in GW1. People are messing with WvW by running GvG in there, but in fact if we had guild halls and guild combat, that would pretty much resolve these issues. Also while discussing guild stuff, better methods of communicating with guild members, checking their status, ensuring that new characters get asked if they would like to represent rather than always needing to remind people that they forgot again….

3. Some way for people who want to gather and craft to actually make money in the game. At the moment, this area is very difficult. Playing the TP is viable, but not crafting. You can craft for yourself, but it is almost impossible to make any money in the game crafting. You can gather and sell materials, but there is no advantage to crafting and selling in most cases. Maybe have some rarer recipes that can be acquired through completing some unusual content or convoluted quest chains and not hidden behind RNG. More like we had to do to make the Black Moa Chick mini-pet in GW1 – long, satisfying, more end-game than early game, so that there is an incentive to do the content, get the recipe(s), and then craft special stuff that you can sell for a profit (with mats that you still need to gather that themselves might be rare so the value is there too).

tl;dr; Make crafting/gathering a viable way to play the game for those who enjoy it and don’t want to just play the TP.

I just spent hours in W2Z2 trying to get the Bachelor of Baubles, Become the Master, and Bachelor of Secrets achievements. I was roughly 90% of the way done, and I dc’d. I can’t believe it. All that time and effort wasted. Not happy. There should have been a way to continue from where I was, not just get kicked without warning (and this was only to the character screen, not out of the game completely).
