well honestly doesnt working on the game also include testing ingame mechanics and so on? how else could they bring out a balance patches then? :p

but seriously, i wonder why it always takes sooo long till they react to the forums..

I think Anet uses a form of agile development which is supposed to make development faster, but a lot of times it adds a lot of overhead to a process. The changes they want to make have to be organized in to releases with all the other project which are probably placed into 2 to 4 week sprints. Once in the WIP (work in progress), they probably use test driven development which from my experience is very slow and the automated testing that goes with it is not a good substitute for real testing. I am sure Anet uses real testers but probably not as much as they should.

Sorry if you like the agile process, in my experience out of the two instances (lasting over 5 years) I have seen it used it isnt as efficient as people say it is. Its probably good for website companies and such but not for large heavy development of a single product.

Just my assumption and opinion.

So I have just played about 5 Stronghold games in a row, out of those I only won one. I must say that I was excited for this map and my first impressions are kind of underwhelming. I dont know if its the unbalance state of spvp at the moment. Yes I think it is unbalanced, when a class like theif or mesmer can hit two buttons and down you with full toughness runes its unbalanced.
It feels like to me that if your team gets behind, you stay behind. There was one map where we got a champion at one point and almost turn the tables but they have all been very very lopsided. One was even 100 to 600 at the end.
I am trying to be constructive so bare with me. I found myself a few times thinking that I was going back to my home to summon some door breakers but didnt realize I was walking in to the enemy base. I am a UX designer and you think I would notice what lane I am currently at but for some odd reason I have not gotten use to the orientation of the map yet.
At one point the opposing team decided to camp our home base with two players while the npc guards didnt do anything. In League of Legends if you try and enter an enemy home base you almost die from the first hit off some tower. I think that should be a thing for the summon area.
I followed Colin’s advise from POI and I found the treb useful however, even though I took out a lot of door breakers they still got the door down with about 3 pushes. At that point two opponents strolled past me with the remaining door breakers and proceed to break the inner gate. I wonder if the treb should do more damage to door breakers, or maybe not since i was the only one defending.
I like the concept but its really frustrating when most of my games were so lopsided I just wanted to stop playing. I think Arenanet needs to look at the balance of classes for all part of their game.

Not sure where you hear about zerker being the meta, unless you’re talking about PvE. Zerker on engi with Dolyak runes in WvW seems very odd. I recommend you check out some of the builds at this website: http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

I know that my build isnt amazing but my point is not that I am using an odd rune but that fact that I have 1200+ toughness and 20,500 health pool and still get burst very easily. I am just curious if anyone else thinks that Bursting in this game is too easy and too fast of bursts? thats all I am asking not i you think I am a bad player or what have you. Sure the build has something to do with it but again I am asking a general question.

I know that ever since launch Zerker has been the meta that everyone goes to but I am a little frustrated at how bursty this game is in any form of PVP. I know I am not a very good player but I dont understand how the devs can allow any class to hit someone for over half their health.
I was running around with my engineer (which i am still learning to play), who had all zerker gear with Dolyak runes and about 20,500 health pool and found myself getting bursted very easily. By easily I mean with in a couple seconds. I have even used full rabid gear with the extra toughness and still I can not with stand a lot of the burst that happens. Yes evade, Yes block,. Maybe I havent found the right build for how I play my Engi I dont know.

I know I suck but I am just wondering if the burst potential of Warrior, Ranger and Thiefs is a little too much?

Did I miss something because I dont understand how Wynn and Caithe got in to the secret cave? Especially if we did a one time ritual in order to get in.

I could see the Wynne learning how to enter, some how, through the centaurs or even from the Pale Tree. But I don’t understand how Caithe and Faolain got in, unless the gateway was still open when Wynne ran in.

If anyone has inside that would be awesome.

I have not used the new system for gem conversion, but I had used the other system several times to supplement my cash purchase. In the case of the old system my conclusion is that it was the lag between pressing the exchange button and the confirmation of transaction. So possibly instead of looking at the server issue that may be there they reworked the UI.

Besides balance and trait synergy, & unique reward tracks, I would like to see more maps and game modes like most people want.
I really enjoyed Reaper’s Rumble from the first Halloween but they removed it last year. I would like to see them bring something like that back.

This game is just plain bad. Don’t bother making suggestions unless those suggestions directly increase gem shop sales. Otherwise, they will be ignored.

Ok a suggestion to increase gem sales is to implement player house where you furnish you house and land with items you find around the world. Some of those items could be sold on the gem store. Maybe if you had to pay for a piece of land you had to buy a deed from the gem store to get started.

But this doesnt fix the story & player mechanic issues that I have with the game, it might give me something to do instead of the lamb Living story achievements. That is until they make WVW awesome again.

Before I start to rant/complain/feedback I would like to point out a few things. I have been a Guild Wars player and fan for a very long time. I have played all the GW1 Campaigns and I started playing GW2 as soon as I could get my hands, durring beta events and after launch. I have been played a lot of GW2 (over 900 hours) and I have raved to friends about how good it is, I have spent money on the gem shop to help support the company. I loved how the dynamic events were, the leveling, the loot & resource node sharing & WVW. I love the art style and many many more things about the game. The personal story ending was the only thing I had some pause on, that and all of orr, but I can get past that. I loved how the first halloween event was with the quests for the book and all the mini games, wintersday etc..
But over the last year, since after dragon bash I have been loosing faith. All the zerg content, lack of story, point less achievement hunting, stagnant guild activities/support & stagnant WVW development has finally taken its toll. Edge of the mist is just another map for zergs to run around in.

I fought for GW2 tooth and nail ever since it came out and I loved what it started out to be, even with all the bugs. I am saying to you the developers I think you are making a mistake some where in your development. I love the idea of the living story, changing world and all. But the implementation of it is really killing the experience of what I had felt with GW2 when I first started playing. I find myself logging in less and less every week. And I think the reason is simply because lack of execution. These ideas of your are awesome, new content every two weeks, “dynamic” zerg content, cool gem store items & a quasi interesting story. But please spend more time on thinking through content & implementing the story properly.

I do not agree with tying everything for the living world and PVE content in achievements. I personally think they destroy the story you are trying to tell, event though your using them as a way to give the players individual quests. It not only ruins the story telling experience and exploration of the content, it is a poor way to deliver rewards for doing content. I mean I was one of those that got all the achievements at the beginning but now I could care less. I was very exited for the ending of this story to only find that after a few sessions of playing the new content I have only completed 3 out of 15 achievements and a broken conclusion that I sort of understand. And after trying for a specific achievement for over 2 hours and not getting it I am finally frustrated enough to give up on the entire achievement system. I know this game has no sub, I know I can come back to it but this is a long time loyal player telling you there is something wrong with your plan. I only hope that you will make things MUCH better in the second season.

I am sorry I dont have a suggestion to fix my complaints other than to spend more time on content and rethink how you tell the story/achievements. I personally enjoyed most of the content up until after dragon bash probably because there wasnt all this zerg content.

The end of regular WvWvW

The sad part is that they have yet to tackle the zerg problem. I was hoping that the new map would have some mechanics that would spread people out but it doesnt. I like smaller groups in my WVW because it feels more tactical. So the new map is just that a new map for 3 zergs to run a round in a circle flipping objectives.
The first time I jumped in to EOTM the first thing I saw in map chat was “Where is the zerg at” this bothers me because that is the most effective and most simple thing for people to do(mindless). Get in a large zerg and spam your 1 key. I have dont plenty of organized zergs where the commander tells everyone what to do in TS ( Stack, plow through, etc) but its not tactical for me personally just the commander. I just feel like I am doing a simon says game, commander says hit green so I hit green there is no thinking on my part not like there is in SPVP.

I am still waiting for the day that they make defending and smaller groups more effective than a large zerg. But I have a feeling I will have lost interest by then since I am slowly logging in less each week already.

ANet please find a solution:
make siege more devastating to large groups.
make defending more valuable (give rewards for each hour of holding a keep?)
remove waypoint in Bay/Hills/Garrison
make objectives multi-pronged you have to be in two (or more) spots to take an objective. Or you have to take this tower and that camp first in order to take castle.

I think Dueling should be added to just the mist PVP lobby. This make sense because your testing your build with other players and it also will get more people in to the mists PVP lobby. It would give you something to do while waiting for queue to pop.
Maybe make it so you have to be in a party with the person to duel or something.

When I come out of DS my utility skills load a lot slower than my weapon skills. It almost feels like I have to wait an entire consume condition cast time to use any of my other skills.
I am wondering if this is supposed to happen?

Also I have been having a problem with Dark Path lately. I know the radius is only 240 but I have noticed its really delayed. I have even seen it pop when I am out of DS.

Its amazing the more you play PVP the more you notice nuance problems with certain skills.

I was reading the Flameseeker Chronicles about housing and really really enjoyed the idea one of the commenters had based of of LOTROs housing:

“The system was realistic in the idea that some games will not have completley open housing system. Instead, the game had clusters of player houses called Neighborhoods, that it could just repeate again and again.

The idea of neighborhoods was great – housing was still instanced, but you could be together with friends / family / guild. The ’hood could offer services and such, to make your housing more than just a personal thing, but a community building tool.

What it didn’t have, and where gw2 could expand, is bringing more activities into the neiborhood. Leaderboards that can be filtered down to the neighborhood, bandit raids (or other guild mission acitivies) that happen in the neihborhood.

The ideas are endless really… but the idea of it is, housing does not need to be just a instanced singlular player thing that becomes dull after some point and only used for storage."

This got me thinking about animal crossing and how fun it was to find items to put in your house and even interact with some of those items.

I thought this idea was worth putting in suggestions if and when the devs get around to house. (Look at what you could put in the gem store for housing items!!!!!)

Living Story achievements

So I was doing the Krait Historian and wanted to do it with out the help of a guide. However, without anything to go, no hints, story related to finding these sites or puzzle/trivia, its like playing pin the tail on the donkey but with no pin and no tail. I have found that I am missing the story elements that could be added to these Living Story updates.
I mean do you really expect someone to wonder around all the bodies of water with out any information to find some random place where you places these obelisks and have fun doing it. I gave up on the no guide approach because it just was not fun.

Please put some effort in to creating fun achievement activities. These things were you just have to go look with nothing to go on is getting really old. The communicator was a good start for the Madness update but that still was very vague and had no story attached to each thing you had to do for the achieves.

I am not a big achievement hunter, so what is there for me in this patch besides a 5 minute mission style activity. Please add more things to do besides achievements or make them more interesting as apposed to go kill 10 guys, go collect 50 things. I mean there are more things you could do. We could hunt around the maps for items to put together to make something to help fight the tower, or do more investigative things. I liked the Flame and frost stuff and the Dragon Bash/Cutthroat stories which it felt like there was more meat to the things I was doing.

I dont get what you mean by Raw DPS conditions for Necros. I have tried using scepter many times but is so slow at killing things compared to axe and staff in my opinion. I am sure I am not specing correctly.
Maybe have feast of corruption do a little more damage when specced in to curses or change Lingering Curse to something more useful than “duration”. I would like to see scepter become more viable because I see a lot of axe necros out there.
I like the changes to DS and many other traits.

I play a Necro and a few weeks ago I have been noticing a cloning effect, what looks like to be when I am transformed (such as death shroud). I have noticed this a few times with my endless halloween tonic. What happens is there when I transform back to my normal for I see a clone of myself just standing there. Even though I could see the clone my guild/ party member could not see it.
This doesnt break anything but is kind of odd. I have a radeon HD 5770 graphics card, AMD 3.4 Quad Core and 8 gigs of Ram.

Is it just me or does regeneration not alway work. I have noticed many times that when i cast Mark of Blood I dont always get regeneration. I have noticed this mainly on boss battles but other places as well.
Is it only if it hits? I know it doesnt give you the boon when your health is full but would be nice to have that pre-emptive boon going in to a battle.

I am not sure I have noticed on reapers touch and well of blood but dont use those as much as Mark of blood.

1) More and larger WVW maps & zerg reduction strategies (maybe make siege matter not just flame rams and arrow carts).
2) Make Orr better by having people actually enjoy going there. Orr should be where everyone wants to go after turning 80, not just for the loot but for fun as well.

I have 5 skills that you need to have to be able to escape that I have found half way helpful.
Reapers Mark, Locus Swarm, Spectral Wall, Spectral Walk, Signet of the Locust.
Also spec in to Reaper’s Protection will also help when trying to get away if your getting locked down.

Without a guild organization or communication tool like guild email or message of the day in guild chat, it is literally impossible to communicate with everyone in the guild about events or news besides pointing them to a website.

Please implement guild communication tools to help the leaders organize there groups. We shouldnt have to rely on a separate website that not all players use to organize.

I know this is another thing to add to the hundreds of things that should already be in game after a year but it needs to be done.

Cant they solve this by making a skin ticket fairly expensive. They should look at the average players current gold and price the tickets accordingly ( just high enough to encourage gem purchases with cash). Say something like 2000 gems or greater.

I currently have about 45g and do not farm a whole lot. If i exchange, that gives me about 1500 gems give or take 100 gems (rate 3g = 100gems). They could also increase the exchange rate at times like these to try and help.

Doesnt make sense to have some items RNG like weapons and other that you can buy out right like quagan backpack.

I am sure they will not change anything no matter how much people complain. They are making money, but at some point the customer satisfaction is going to catch up with them but until then I am sure it will be the same as it always has been.

I am not sure if this has ever been thought of or discussed but I have been running the dragon ball mini game for a while now. I have noticed how in a fast pace pvp game where your moving and looking around a lot the mouse can get in to positions that are not optimal for certain skills.
I would like to see the mouse pointer get realigned to centered on a ground target skill activation. I cant count how many times i have struggled trying to get the ground radical in the center of my screen while trying to dodge or stafe. I also think this could be useful for spvp.

I have notice that there have been a lot of afkers in Dragon ball today. It really sucks for both sides when there is only one active player on a team. I have seen this happen at least 4 times in a row.
Sure its great to get the dragon ball boss title but not at the expense of fun. I think there needs to be an auto balance for the mini game. I know that might make people mad for taking away their win for the achieve or reward but I personally feel like i am cheated of a real reward even if my team wins against 3 afkers.

Just thought I would mention it and helpfully they will do something about it. especially if its going to last for a month.

The wiki says the focus 5 skill removes boons from enemies but the tool tip in game says it applies Vulnerability. It doesnt make sense to have Vulnerability on both focus skills.

Does the skill description need to be changed in game or is the wiki not correct.

I agree with finding a better, more creative way of making the dungeons harder while encouraging players to continue to do them. I much prefer having to complete a precise set of tasks (flawlessly) in the first sets of dungeons than have to change my gear because of a mindless gated mechanic.

What wrong with only adding filler gear between exotic and legendary that is required for the legendary.

You could maybe have a title track for the specific dungeon that gives you a certain resistance to agony instead of adding it to gear. either way your going to divide your community whether its through gear stat or character stats.

I just think there are other more creative ways to add a feel of progression other than tiered gear and gated content.

I agree with the level adjustment, xp, Karma and looting, However new content is always nice to have. But please make dungeon tokens one thing or maybe all the dungeons give you the same token but for each piece of gear you need one thing from that dungeon to go along with the tokens.

I am pretty disappointed with this. I absolutely hate grear progression, its why I dont do end game dungeons in other mmos. I play for story and experience not the gear. Even if I wanted dungeon gear it would be hard pressed to get it because finding a group for the specific gear you want is hard unless your in a dungeon guild. I cant even find people to do story mode with me let alone grind for the grear.

I do have to point out that I dont mind the infusion aspect of this patch its the stats that I dont approve of. They could have treated it like infused armor in GW1 which was applied to your character after you had completed a bunch of missions.

I was going to buy more bank slots and give a little back to Arena net but I think I am going to wait and see how bad this gear progression gets. For the first time in the 7 years I have been following arena net and the Guild Wars franchise, I very very disappointed.

Shame on you Arenanet, there are more creative ways to get a feeling of progression than this.

Weapon Upgrades

While I understand why the decision to have the weapon upgrades feel the same as the armor upgrades, but I truly miss the component system in GW1.
I am not sure why the system in GW1 was more satisfying than just adding a ruin that stacks with your armor ruins, but I really enjoyed changing the components with the pieces of the weapon.
I think the ability to tweak your weapon to that degree was very powerful and fun. Not only do you get that flexibility you also get a small satisfaction of changing the name of your weapon and the feeling of actually assembling the weapon with the hilts, pommel, haft etc.. components.
Having these different components would also make the crafting more satisfying as well instead of just creating one sigils or it might make people complain since they have to use more materials etc.
Not sure if this is a suggestion or a random comment but I wouldnt mind seeing what it feels like in GW2.

Halloween Event Feedback

I loved the event, I experienced most of everything and got all the achievements except the master carver.

Things I would have like to see improved/added on are:
A few more quest & events like the Mad King book. I initially didnt know there were new events in Gendarran fields so didnt take part in those but would have liked to.

I would have enjoyed something to spend my candy corn on other than time sensitive weapon skins. Would have loved to get a halloween weapon that was not a rare for candy corn much like candy cane wands and shields in GW1.

Wished my endless Halloween tonic would have the ghost and zombies in it as well.

Would have liked a few more things like Ghost in a box along with all the food items.
I dont think its such a good idea to have quests that take you in to higher level zones (above 30). I was able to since I was lvl 60 charr but just think it might not sit well with lower level people.

And yes the Clock Tower was hard but I wouldnt change anything except maybe to flatten out some of the broken pieces in the beginning that you get stuck on. ( 3+ hours for me)

I thought I read in one of the update notes that this was something that got fixed. However I am still getting random loud sounds from pets. I have a necro and the jagged horror that auto spawns for me has very loud foot steps depending on what surface it walks on. The other day i was in one of the Dredge area tunnels and I noticed the sound.

I just wanted to raise awareness that it is still happening and maybe I miss read something and your still working on it.

I am sure someone has already thought of this but I thought I would mention it. I am just curious if Anet is banning accounts that have received any in game email transactions that include gold from known botting accounts.
I am sure that the actual bot accounts are not the same accounts that are transferring money to the consumers, there has to be a main account that is used to do the trading. So I am wondering if Anet is following that path of in game mails to try and elimiate those accounts and the accounts that are buying the gold.

I am having a hard time playing in the Bloodtide Coast because of all the bots and the stalled events that i am sure have something to do with the botting.

I found that if i turn off my 5.1 surround sound and it seemed to fix the problem. I just found it really odd that I couldn’t hear the NPC that I was standing in front of unless i turned my camera.

I have found that all my audio is good except for the NPC comments. A lot of times in order for me to hear what the NPCs have to say outside of a cinematic i have to turn my camera 90 degrees to hear what they are saying other wise its muffled and sounds like its in a tunnel. I have tried every port as far as my audio card goes and the one I am plugged in to is the only one that plays the GW music and works with everything else.
A fix or suggestion would be great at this point. on a side note I didnt have this problem in the beta.

I played the necromancer quite a bit and notice that the minion ai is not quite responsive enough as far as entering combat. I am not sure if this is because of their combat detection range since i mainly use a scepter & Staff.
I have notice that I can pretty much kill an enemy without my minions doing anything. This is random and the only fix I have found was to use their special abilities. Even though this technique works most of the time the problem with it is the bone minion explodes where it is standing. I was hoping that even if the ai could not be fixed that the bone minions could at least run to the target and then explode.

One other comment would be on the flesh worm, in which I would love if there was a way to disband it without teleporting or have it teleport to you. Maybe something like a channel that uses the same key as the teleport, so if you just hit the button you teleport and if you hold it you disband it? I know if you are a certain distance away it kind of works but there is no indicator that I have notice that shows me the distance.

On a side note, I did try the ranger in the beta for a short time and found that the pet ai was a lot worse that what I am finding now.
