Yak’s Bend being populated by doddering old people certainly explains a few things. I kind of feel bad for beating up on them now. Next YB person I come across, I’ll make sure to ask them if they know where they are and if I can help them cross the ruins safely. Maybe I’ll earn that scout’s badge yet.

The “our server lost because of your zergs” line is getting pretty old.
The reality of Wv3 currently is population and participation. Have neither and your ranking will fall. Simple concept.
YB has lost to FA,CD and TC recently, and we understood why. Population. They did not “ruin” Tier 3. That played the game in it’s given state. They did not win because of “zerg”. The won due to server participation, skill and strategy. We learned from them with each loss, and for the most part did so with class. TC still gives us respect as we do them.
I do realize the limted number of posters on this forum does not represent servers as a whole, but my god you guys sure do whine a lot.
This and the previously closed thread are full of why YB is such a terrible server from our constant “zergs” to our lack of dueling skill.
YB has come a long way in the last few weeks. Our organization, repsonse times and leadership have improved each week. We try to win with class and learn from losses. And we try to do so with respect.

You must understand, person-from-maguuma, that we’ve seen other guilds who enjoy celebrating their skill and organization in the forums. The most recent one that comes to mind is ULTD in FA. They were a force to be recognized, by people from TC & YB, and even had proof to back it up, though they didn’t need it because of how much talk they got from the servers.
Most importantly, they were pleasant in the forums and frowned upon derailment. They recognized the skill in TC & YB and complimented others.

You’ll notice in another video they are actually taking towers and such, too.
So yeah, if you want to go about getting recognized by all the servers in the match, might I suggest you follow ULTD’s methodology. (Though really, they’re just having fun.) As a start, post some videos, we are expecting something to great to match your words. After that, start celebrating your opponents skills, it takes a different mindset, but it’s good sportsmanship and people enjoy it more. I could go on, but teaching someone on how to be liked vs demanding to be liked can’t be done in a post or anything. (I don’t say this maliciously, I just feel like you’re trying to achieve something but are not fully getting it.)

If Yak’s Bendover wants to set themselves apart from the superior-numbers-to-win category, they need to step up to challenges, rather than complain about some guy talking down to them.
Seriously. Find a guild that is good enough to roam, with co-ordination, and you’ll get more respect. I still have yet to see one.
I’ve seen single players here and there. Like warriors with never-ending buffs lately. What’s up with those guys? Buffed? Those are some good fights.
Server population has a great deal to do with rankings. Not sure how long you have played GW2 Wv3 not to understand this basic concept.
We happen to play Wv3 to win the match. Our primary goal does not involve having the best gank group so we may boast about it or demean other servers players.
The Yak server membership does not require your “respect”. We play as a server wide team with the goal of winning. We place our servers goals before personal egos, a simple concept I doubt you can understand.
Ehrmy Bay and Maguuma are on a whole other skill level when it comes to fighting, while you might not agree with me its the true of the matter. There is a reason no yaks got an invite to fight night because we haven’t found any guilds we thought would be challenging for us.

I understand your point Sharpclaw but it doesn’t reflect poorly on TC. Not in my eyes.
Everyone needs to stop thinking this is a hardware issue. This is a networking issue on Arenanet’s end. The issue has nothing to do with your computer.
This makes thieves incredible overpowered. I’ve run into thieves that abuse the hell out of it by running the dagger/pistol combo that gives them the stealth combo. They will remain completely invisible the entire fight and will just constantly wear you down without even being seen. It’s exploiting at this point and I hope something is done about it.
Generally, I beleive most of the WvW3 community has learned how to defeat the average thief player even with the perma-stealth due to culling. The really skilled thief’s abusing the culling are almost untouchable.
Anet stated culling was a game engine issue. I can’t understand why they do not rebalance the stealth mechanic in order to keep stealthing possible for the class, but to do so in a way makes them visible according to the actual skill description.

Or just join Yaks Bend, the better less kitteny version of FA. We also have strong PvE so you get the best of both worlds!

Looking at the scores, it looks like Yaks belongs in tier 4 which means FA will be in tier 3. How about some Yaks WvW guilds come over to FA and make both Tier 3 and Tier 4 better competition. I’m sure that will be the day. lol </3
And every server has people who complain too much so that is definitely not a reason to not join a server.

We enjoyed the competition as well Rhongomyniad and learned a lot from TC. Unfortunately I don’t see us returning any time soon, we need more Prime Time players. Seems we’ve had a slight drop in the last couple of weeks.
We have fought hard to rise through theTiers and have minimal to nonexistent que times on reset nights. Yak’s are led by a group of calm and skilled commanders on a 1,000 slot mumble server.

Yak’s is a great server. They put up a great showing in T3 despite having easily the lowest population out of TC/CD/FA/YB, and they make their numbers count. Looking forward to your return to T3 with more population to bring the pain!

But to suggest people will not get criticized when not playing to the games strategic design is naive.
I did note earlier that there are many strategic objectives served by stopping people from getting to their objectives. Anyone Bunzy’s group kills or distracts is by definition, not accomplishing the “games strategic design”.
Asking for gank groups to stop doing their thing is to willfully ignore the fact that there is utility in disrupting the enemy.
So I say again, please stop rolling onto the forums and complaining that your enemy doesn’t play the game the way you want them to.

I would prefer all my enemies just gank and ignore the objectives of WvW3.

Don’t let these guys get your goat Subtle. If they want to roam and “pawn noobs” then boast about it, so be it. They are doing little to help their server in regards to points. As stated they don’t care if they win or lose.
A few of them danced and emoted on me last night when I scouting. No worries.
Glad they as well as their attitude concerning WvW3 are on the Maguuma server and not ours.
FA had a solid 5 man that took overwhelming numbers to take down. They took camps and tried to win for their server. And when they killed you they moved on, no emote crap. Now that team was impressive and they earned our servers respect.

The culling is improved to a degree yet worse at times. Thieves appear to come out of stealth better yet a group is still an issue.
Yet, while thieves do come out of stealth better for the most part, tabbing doesn’t appear to work when you can first see them. You have to mouse click on them half the time. This is a one on one situation.
All FA WvW’ers. These match ups are what it is all about. This is why we played when we won or lost by a land slide, this is why we played through terrible tiers, this is why we played when there were 4 other people on the map. There are literally people to kill everywhere you look these last two weeks. Objectives to take or defend wherever you look. If you ask me, this is awesome! If people want to double team us(not that I necessarily believe this is the case), why should we be upset by that? It’s simply more bodies on the ground after we roll on through. I for one am happy with where we are at and have had as much fun these last two weeks as I had in the headstart when there were battles to be fought everywhere you looked. Lets step up to the challenge and enjoy it while we can, before we know it we will be bumped up or down a tier and be in one of those landslide matches, which I do not believe anyone wants.

I agree completely. Don’t understand why some people are complaining about a great three way match up. It doesn’t get much better for Wv3. Go to tier 4 and wipe them or go to tier 2 and get wiped? I like tier 3 atm.
The issue is the redering. Otherwise stealth is fine. I hate thieves but i dont want to see them being destroyed. But its really sad that every thief you find in wvw has the same build and combo.
If you have played a thief, you’d find that we really don’t have many options. Even the ones we did have, have been severely nerfed because of people complaining. Most thieves run Dagger-Dagger because it maximizes damage output, and that’s exactly the type of class best suited for thief, single-target damage. We have a lack of AoE for our weapon sets, so many thieves use a shortbow in WvW. As far as being effective in WvW, you are really only going to see D-D, Sb, or D-p.
I have played a thief and I understand where the class is in WvWvW.
Thief may be the hardest class to balance in PvP, a lightly armored character that is designed around single target spike damage. Stealth is an important aspect of the class for survivability.
You must admit the class is strong at this point. Well played they are a force on the battlefield with a single target focus or with dagger storm on the edges of zergs. We have yet to see coordinated use of multiple dagger storms but it’s time will come.
A difficult class to balance. But I will bet a lot of people are leveling thieves. And why not use a class that has the most potential? That’s all I’m trying to say. You will see more thieves in WvWvW in the coming weeks.

The rendering issue is a problem. But leave the stealth mechanics and skill set as is, there are going to be a whole lot more theives in WvWvW.

Since the last patch I too have switched to Osicat’s shatter build from a GS reliant build. It is a totally different style of play that is more intense and engaging. Takes a bit to get use to.
The downside for me is my gear and current funds. I do not have berzerker gear or air runes. Without the proper gear you don’t get the spikes the build is capable of but it is still effective. You are slow without the focus offhand and lack of proper runes.
I play mostly WvWvW and was getting tired of the perma-stealthed thieves beating me with a GS build. The shatter build provides much better survival against them and quite often makes alot of them run away.
Nah, you don’t need to attack anyone.
Dagger/Pistol traited for initiative gain.
Drop a smoke field (Pistol 5: Black Powder) and leap finisher over it (Dagger 2: Heart Seeker) to get stealth without having to attack anyone.
Have to turn auto targeting off in options otherwise you will accidentally hit people who spread out in the circle when heart seeker auto targets nearest.

So this basically states capping issue need to be fixed. And the player must be out of stealth for a given period to stop cap. Or they will just blink in and out of stealth to prevent cap.
I agree. But there is one simple thing to do to stop them from preventing a cap, everyone stack on one point. They must come to you. Use every type of knock down or AoE on your stacked group. 90% of the time they will run.
I know it’s difficult to get a pug to understand this concept but when they see it work it will become the norm.
This also works in the open field as long as no other animals are too close for them to regain stealth.
The community must start doing this to negate the curent thief population that is abusing the current culling/rendering issues that make the build feasible in the first place.
Spread the word and it will catch on as it is on our server.
I’m not a fan of the patch but come on guys. You all make it sound like the class is useless. They will get the “unintended” bugs fixed.
For WvWvW;
Since we have no real AoE anymore, do something else to help your team. Set up a ballista, guard your teams flanks. Look at new builds.
Mesmers on the walls have the same LoS sight issues you do, they will get on the edge of the wall so yank them down when they do.
We most certainly are not a useless class now.
I feel the same way paleeshi. I think this build provides an awesome roaming and supply camp build. But it would be more difficult to use against large/zerg groups.
But this build appears to be an excellent counter to the stealth BS thieves. Even with the recent nerf, they still are abusing the games culling making them difficult to target. TC has a few 2-3 man groups that are constantly hitting supply camps and dolyaks. And we all know a good stealth thief can be a very tough opponent. Sword/Sword appears to be an excellent choice when building against them specifically.
I will probably change over to this build specifically to take/hold supply camps in our upcoming match. But after running a GS build for so long it’s going to take a little time to get use to the shatter palystyle.

Funny to see all the QQing about mesmers post patch. Instead of seeing how else to apply the class, most people just complain the class is dead.
The portal has two basic problems.
1) The skill should be one way as described, Portal Entry and Portal Exit.
2) The current culling issue should dictate a player limit on people using it. I don’t mind the portal bomb and I don’t like being killed by players that not rendered.
I also think the portal entry and exit point should have a taller brighter glow.
