I’d like to see an alliance system. In GW1, when I had my own guild and alliance, I often chatted with the allies and had a lot more people to turn to when I wanted to play in a group. Having the guild as a pool of potential playmates is nice, but having 10 guilds in an alliance is a lot better. Plus it could help with the influence problem Meltdown mentioned, by giving the other guilds a percentage of the influence the other guilds in the alliance.
It could be like 1% of the influence earned by the guild during the day. So if there is an alliance of 10 guilds, and all of them earn 1000 influence for themselves each day, the other guilds would receive 10 influence from them. With 10 guilds, each guild would get 90 influence. It would help keep up boons and save up influence for upgrades.
On top of that it would increase the pool of people you can chat, team up and play with. Especially smaller guilds would profit from that. if you have less than 50 people in your guild it often happens that the number of people online is not even enough to get a team up. Plus alliances could share members.
If Guild 1 is casual, Guild 2 PvE focused, Guild 3 WvW focused and Guild 4 PvP focused, I as a member could jump between the 4 guilds to get the bonuses I need for whatever the hell I want to play on that day.
You only need to complete 3/4 fractals. It’s easy to count and remember. So I don’t see why you need to implement an additional counter into it.
Right now, the only area where ascended gear is NEEDED is FotM lvl 10+. Everywhere else it only provides a slight advantage in stats. You can win over a player with ascended gear if you wear exotic gear. You can to the same PvE content as a player with ascended gear. Even fractals up to lvl 15. After that agony is going to kick in too much to be tolerated without any resist.
But if you don’t want to grind or repeatedly do any content, you won’t even get to fractal lvl 15. So your only disadvantage are slightly lower stats. But the new gear will be made available for all by introducing new methods of getting them eventually. But that takes time.
Have you played any extensive world vs world?
Makes me wonder if you have especially if you never did pvp in it. And how do you suggest one gets 50 player kills without killing players? Just curious.
I never said that I’ve never pvp’d in wvw. I’ve only stated why wvw isn’t inherently a pvp endeavor. It is a pve one and as such is categorized as pve. You can go duel players all you want in the jumping puzzle or by random chance, sure, but that is in no way the primary purpose of wvw. World vs World is about killing NPCs and earning crafting bonuses for your world.
You can get your 50 kills by spamming any aoe weapon while barreling along in a zerg. You cannot seriously tell me that random tagging where you’ve barely done anything (because 30 other people also hit 1 at the same time) is in any way a serious, compelling, or even competitive form of pvp.
It’s literally no different than joining an event zerg in Straits of Devastation at that stage. If you hate zerging then sure yeah whatever, but otherwise this is the most mind-boggling attempt at “boo! pvp! grr!” flaming that I’ve ever seen.
But killing NPCs does not fulfill the 50 kills. I’m not against PvP. But I don’t want to play PvP. There is a monthly PvP for all those that do enjoy fighting other players.
Kill 50 NPCs would be a PvE-themed WvW Monthly requirement. But it is 50 world invaders, players, that I need to kill. That’s PvP for me. And belongs to the PvP monthly and not the PvE monthly.
That would be great. I really dislike that yellow underwear. It looks like my necro peed her pants <.<
GW2 offers a lot of solo-able content. Even Cursed Shore can be done “solo”. The quotes are there because you will probably run into a few players that do the same skill quest or event, making you play together. I have seen someone doing Cursed Shore solo. That person is now my “guide” when it comes to Orr areas.
What changes since the last update was that there was one group activity (fractals) more than before. That doesn’t make any of the soloable content less soloable.
As for Arah story. You go slay an Elder Dragon. Recall ypu last encounters with dragons… There was one on Claw Island where you and an ENTIRE ARMY of NPCs fougth. Not sure if you did the Champs that spawn all 3 hours. But there is always an ENTIRE ARMY of players there. The Dragons are like the ultimate enemy. Beeing able to slay Zhaitan solo would just not fit. Especially not in a world that’s filled to the brimm with heroes.
If you can do the story solo and explore the map solo and do dungeons solo and do everything else solo, why bother even adding a party feature? heck, why bother making it an MMO?
WvW is PvE content. That’s ArenaNet’s stance on it, and frankly I agree. The majority of WvW objectives involve laying siege to buildings and smacking around NPC’s. Players play a small role in it outside of zergs. The other players may as well be a wall of Risen at that point.
Except a wall of risen is a lot easier to kill than players. And ArenaNet does not tell me to siege buildings or shove around NOCs. It tells me to kill players.
So I, as a player will be fighting versus other players. How does any of that change what the objective of world vs world is? The objective is to hold points on the map using siege equipment. It’s PvP in the same way that driving a car makes you a circuit racer. The fact that other players are involved is almost irrelevant. You’ll get your 50 kills by sitting on a cannon and firing into a zerg. That is hardly a PvP experience.
PvP means Player versus Player, right?
Now if I, as a player, fight another player, I’m fighting Player versus Player, right?
Whether I use my own skills or a cannon does not matter. If I remember correctly, there is a trebuchet or something the like in sPvP. That trebuchet can be used to fire at people too!
And it doesn’t matter what the objective of WvW are. What matters is the fact, that for my Monthly Achievement I need to kill players. Thus I need to engage in a PvP activity, since I am fighting Player versus Player, which is the meaning of PvP.
How do you know when you hit DR?
ANet should know from experience, that during events more players log in and want to play. And the nature of those events is that lots of players are funneled into very few maps. It was the same in Gw1 too. They should have 8 years of experience by now. Yet during Halloween we had problems. Ok, first event. Then Lost Shores came. Same thing. So for wintersday I expect the very same problems.
As for GemStore stuff. We had a chest for every event by now. Mad Kings and consortium. They will add costumes too probably. It’s natural. That’s how they make money. But you don’t have to spend a cent on a lot of it. Unique skins of weapons? Check TP. They’ll show up there. Minis? TP. Townclothing? When do you ever wear that?

Did you vistit the dragon champions already? There are 3 dragon champions that spawn in 3 different areas every 3 hours.
Shatterer – Blazeridge steps – Lowland burns waypoint
Tequatl the Sunless – Sprakfly fen – Splintered Coast WP
Claw of Jormag – Frostgorge Sound – Somewhere close to the HotW dungeon.
They leave a chest with nice loot behind too.
You can also go and explore maps. The reward for it may not be much but it is a nice change from the undead.
FotM can be a nice farmspot though. Doing one or two runs a day can get you some rares and exotics to salvage/sell. It also takes care of 3/4th of the daily. All that’s left is gathering. The jug of Karma can come in handy as well. In Orr there is a vendor in front of Arah who gives you a nice armour (exotic too, I think) for 42k/piece.
Nobody has cornered the market on Ectos. Essentially, the availability of all mats in the game is controlled by Anet. If you could go out and farm for mats, it would be totally irrelevant what someone wanted to charge for the mats. In WoW, I could farm savage leather and blackened dragonscale for a couple hours and have enough to make a set of armor. It was my principal way of making gold. It was easy to grind out mats and it didn’t matter what the cost was on the AH. Some people didn’t like to farm and there were plenty of people willing to farm and sell for reasonable prices. But, you could always farm.
Anet needs to understand that a grind needs to be reasonable and all mats should be farm-able for the purpose of making gold through crafting. In WoW, the zones where you farmed contained mobs that were easily farm-able and nothing like the tedium of what you find in Orr or Southsun. Who wants to even go there. Anet has fully embraced grinding as a design principle; they now need to look to WoW again to understand how to make a grind rewarding and endurable, both for gear and mats.
There are ways of farming ectos. Dungeons & fractals offer enough chances for rare drops. And if you want to stay at 1 place, braindead, and grind mats you can try getting ectos by crafting rares and salvaging them. Buy x of fabric/leather/wood/metal, x T5 mats, x auxilliary mats from the trainer and craft till you drop dead. Or your inventory’s full.
Orr and Karka Island aren’t the only places to farm. There is frostgorge as well.
GW2 != WoW
ANet != Blizzard
The game was released end of august. We have early december. It’s not even 4 months old! Give it some time. The market will calm down again. Fractals and dungeons and other farm methods will increase supply. As time passes more and more people will have legendaries/ascended gear and the demand will go back a bit. And the average player can afford ectos once more.
And as said, it is possible to get fully equipped without even touching a single ecto.
There is Karma gear. Max Stat.
There are Dungeon Armors. Max Stat.
There are drops. Max Stat if you’re lucky.
There are Max Stat armor Sets on the TP.Where are the karma trinkets and those dungeon token jewelry?
I admit, they don’t have that stuff. But the TP has. And it’s cheaper to buy exotic trinkets & jewellery than to craft it.
Compared to GW1, ectos are easy to come by. I remember the only Underworld run I ever did. In the entire run across all members exactly 1 ecto dropped. And those runs take forever. Unfortunately we wiped shortly before we reached the chest that would have rewarded all of us with ectos.
This comparison is, unfortunately, completely invalid. I wish it wasn’t, but it is.
Why?
As I understand, in GW, you didn’t need ectos. You could get the best equipment in the game (or equipment with the maximum stat-budget) rather easily and without ecto-farming.
If you farmed ectos, it was therefore just for fluff. It was truly optional as in “just for looks and the fun of it” optional not the new GW2-optional as in “you don’t have to do it because there’s still a few parts of the game left open for you if you don’t do it.”
TL;DR: GW1 ectos: for looks only, grind acceptable. GW2 ectos: needed for max-stat exuipment, grind unacceptable.
You don’t NEED ectos in GW2 either.
Why?
There is Karma gear. Max Stat.
There are Dungeon Armors. Max Stat.
There are drops. Max Stat if you’re lucky.
There are Max Stat armor Sets on the TP.
I have 4 (!!) ways of getting Max Stat gear that don’t require me to get a single ecto. You only NEED ectos when you a) insist on crafting your stuff yourself b) want special exotics that require ectos from the MF c) want a legendary d) want to play high difficulty fractals and thus need ascended gear (though even here exists a way of getting what you want without ectos. Ascended stuff can drop every 10 lvls or so)
WvW is easy. WvW has been on the Monthly ever since pre-release! But Fractals? Twice in a row? OH NOEZ!!!!! They drive people into only one part!!!!
Seriously, if you complain about one aspect beeing in the monthly twice, complain the same amount about the other aspect, that has been there ever since the beginning. EVERY MONTH. Without fail. It’s pissing me off now especially, since there is a PvP monthly as well! I get that there are a lot of NPCs in WvW. And it’s not like sPvP or tPvP. It’s like a miyx between PvP and PvE. BUT: the monthly requires me to kill players which is definately a PvP aspect in the PvP Monthly. If you ask me, the aspect that belongs the least in the PvE monthly, I’d say WvW kills without hesitating.
The fractals are new. They have been included in the monthly twice so far. Maybe they add salvage or xp without dying or events next month. But right now they want to put the emphasis on that shiny new toy they have. Buy a kid a new toy and it’ll ignore all it’s existing toys for some time to play with the new toy. Same here.
Yeah it is difficult to find a group for fractals if you have a low level toon. But it is difficult to kill stuff in WvW with a low level toon as well! Only you BASE STATS get lifted. You still have crappy gear. You lack bonuses from traits. heck you might even lack utility or elite skills! A lvl 10 tool in WvW has a hard time! And WvW also depends on the amount of people currently doing WvW. If there are only very few people of your server on at the time you are on and lots of people from the other two servers…
I remember trying WvW last month. After a lot of frustration and a high rep bill I asked my boyfriend to do it for me. And it’s not like it’ll be any different this month! The map is the same. THE EXACT SAME! It never changes. At least I get to see different fractals. Those who don’t like fractals and dungeons and prefer PvP stuff can do the monthly PvP. To me, WvW kills belong in that one, not in the normal, PvE monthly.
Just for clarification, is it 7 fractals start -> finish or 7 fractal paths? Cause I’ve only run maybe 4 fractals since the monthly reset and I have this part of the monthly completed (I had it done before my 4th fractal run).
7 fractals completed. So one even and one odd difficulty run. If you do all in one go it’ll take you 2-3h. Do it on a saturday and you’re good for the entire month.
Compared to GW1, ectos are easy to come by. I remember the only Underworld run I ever did. In the entire run across all members exactly 1 ecto dropped. And those runs take forever. Unfortunately we wiped shortly before we reached the chest that would have rewarded all of us with ectos.
In GW2 you have multiple ways of getting rares/exotics for ectos. Lets take a look:
- crafting rares to salvage. it’s cheaper and if you push your profession you eventually will need to craft a certain amount of rares to reach 400 so you can even craft your exotic gear. I got ~12 ectos from the rares I crafted when pushing my tailor.
-personal story. If you progress through the story q you will find rares every once in a while. salvage for the ecto. You’ll get other drops too! sell for cash so you can buy ectos.
- FotM. I had 1 exotic and 1 rare in the same chest on lvl 5 or so. They drop like crazy there. Do the monthly and you’ll have at least 3 rares or so. More if you use MF gear.
-dungeons. You get rares and other loot from chests. The rare helmets can be salvaged too. So from the 70 dungeon onwards even story mode gives you one chance for ectos guaranteed. Those dungeons also offer ‘cheap’ rare armour pieces for like 30 tokens. You get 60 per path. that’s 180 tokens per day if you do all 3 paths. 6 shots at ectos. not counting loot. Not counting the coin the bosses drop.
-mystic forge. If you find lvl 70+ green stuff, combine it at the forge and hope for something rare.
-dailies/monthlies do them. You will kill stuff, you will participate in events, you will get loot.
-dragons leave behind chests that drop nice loot. Shatterer is in Blazeridge stepps, Lowland burns waypoint. Tequatls in the sparkfly fen, splintered coast or similar was the name of the waypoint. Claw of Jormag is in frostgorge sound, forgot the name of the waypoint though. They spawn all 3 hours. Check the maps or the online timer apps to see if they are due soon when you are online.
-exploring/map completion doing hearts and stuff will yield you loot. maybe rare stuff? You’ll encounter events. Do them. They don’t take long and you will be rewarded with coin at least. Most often with other loot as well. You get coin and loot for each area completed.
-WvWvW. Kill intruders, loot them.
And while you are playing the game, doing dungeons, map completions etc. You get loot. You will earn money plus find rares who might give you ectos. The game is not killed. You have tons of ways of getting rares which will yield you ectos if you are lucky.
My point was not that it was grindy- it was that it is hard to find a beginning group— lvl 1— for this dungeon. I tried to find a group I used map chat and I used gw2lfg.com. I could not find a group for level 1 fractals- which is where I am because I was out of town while everyone flew through to higher levels. The lowest I have seen is level 3. So I am hopeful if I can get 1 group then maybe it will be easier the next time since I will be a higher level but as it stands for right now getting a group for FOTM LVl 1 is very very difficult.
Also at least for wvw I can join that and work on kills. As it is right now I cannot even attempt FOTM. I will try through out the month but being so behind the curve sucks.
All I am saying is that a dungeon that is already showing problems for even higher level people to find groups should not be on every monthly imo. If I could get a group I would do it. I am not saying I am refusing to do Fotm- I am saying it is hard to find people at level 1 to even attempt it and it has been on the monthly for 2 months now.
1. Ask in your guild
2. Ask people on your friendlist
3. Ask in the overflow of LA that you are in
4. Change overflow/or go to real LA and ask again
5. Go to 3
Last friday I found a lvl 1 group. Well we looked for a lvl 1 or 2 group since we could have done both and found 3 people looking for lvl 1. We went on Team Speak and did two full runs together. We enjoyed our runs and decided to stick together as a fractal team. And that was last friday.
Last months fractals were done with guildies. But they are hardly ever online so we had to look elsewere. If you have friends who play on a different server or are in a different guild you’re even better off than I was. You can ask them to come with you and to ask people from their guilds and their servers to join up. It can’t be that difficult! It’s not like the German Server are THAT different to the English Servers.
You have 4 weeks. If you log in every few days and ask around you’re bound to find a group. And do an entire run (3 fractals). You get to ‘lvl up’ the difficulty. Your chancer are also higher when you look for a group for an even difficulty level (bonus chest).
And if you’re lucky you find 4 other like-minded people who form a fractal team with you and run the 7 fractals if they reappear in the monthly.
I join fractals of the mist or what ever its called hater band! Doing dungeons for monthly is ok. 5 of them is not too hard but now monthly has become complete PVE. Totally and utterly screwing pvp/ wvw players. Some people say 45k karma is not much?!? Go to wvw and tell me how fast u get 45k. Ill give u a hint: It will take forever. I like to do some dungeons but this fractal thing for my gaming experience is just lame. I dont like it, I dont play it, I dont want to be forced to play it! All other monthlys could have been done by pvp/wvw or pve players equally. (few paths of AC and 2 others for dungeon and done for pvp player) Please Anet change the monthly! this is far from equal footing of pvp and pve players.
There is a PvP Monthly! If you don’t want to do the normal one, do the PvP one! As it is now, BOTH Monthlies have PvP elements in it. It’s not the PvP players that are at the disadvantage, but the PvE players! As a PvE Player I can’t even begin to think that I may have a chance of finishing the PvP monthly in my wildest dreams! I already have a hard time with the 50 kills for WvW
“Merry Christmas Players! Our present to you: a disconnect! Wait! There’s more! We’ll throw in a break down of our Login servers too! Enjoy the festivities!”
Yep. That sums up my expectations.
I prefer FotM in the monthly to WvWvW! Especially now that we have a PvP Monthly! If they really want us to kill 50 players in WvWvW they can do it for the Monthly PvP and not the normal Monthly. FotM are at least not a PvP activity! And yes I consider Kill 50 WvWvW intruders a PvP activity since I have to kill players to get it done. I got last months Monthly only because I put my boyfriend in my chair, logged in to my account and had him do it for me. I want my (PvE) Monthly to have exactly the same amount of PvP as the PvP Monthly has PvE content -NONE.
There are other things! What happened to X Exp without dying? X events completed? X salvages? What about Kill at least 1 mob from every enemy type? Kill X mobs? Kill X Veterans? Kill X champs? Defeat all three dragon champions? Gather X amount of resources?
I’d rather run 100 fractals than doing a single PvP related activity -.-
This is stupid how hard is fix this, this is easy problem.
Nothing is as simple as it seems.
Think of coding like playing jenga. If you pull out blocks near the bottom you can easily topple the entire tower. Likewise if you mess with a bit of code over there you can make another part of the game break. This is why new bugs keep coming up because when you fix one thing it can have a negative effect on other things.
If it was an easy fix it would have been done already.
It is easy if its not easy then project is shti. Im IT engineer and I know what Im talking.
AN is too lazy and errors like this has low priority, whats meen gw2 has too meny critic errors. What the hell does maintaining a network have to do with coding a game?
Not a kitten thing. It would seem your basic reasoning has “too meny critic errors.”
An IT Engineer is responsipble for the implementation of soft and hardware in a company. It’s not just networking. But it isn’t coding either. It’s implementation.
this is not code problem only project
THIS is complete bullkitten. No matter how badly a project is planned, the planning does not cause bugs! What causes bugs is the code. Badly planned projects generally mean lots of wasted time and hard to read code. Not bugs.
You might want to read up on Software development and (since you tossed it in the discussion) OOP before you post about such topics again.
If you enjoyed the storyline, videos, dialogues etc. then you should do the story modes of the other dungeons before doing the last quest (Victory or Death). The story modes of the dungeons tell the storyline of Destiny’s Edge and they will be with you during the last quest as the last quest is essentially the story mode of the last dungeon. And doing the other dungeons will give you a feel for doing dungeons with a group of (often unfamilliar) people. And once you have done the story modes you are granted access to the explorer mode of each dungeon, giving you even more to do. You will get tokens that you can exchange for weapons, armour, runes, tonics and so on, gold, maybe equipment that you can use…
There are also the fractals which you can do. Some are fun, some are less fun. Some require jumping skills, some need swimming. 3 are chosen at random, every even difficulty level has an additional fractal with a challenging boss encounter and bonus chest. Chance for rares and exotics to drop. I got my underwater weapons from one chest in the underwater fractal. An exotic trident and a rare harpoon.
Or you can hunt for lore. There are a lot of NPCs that tell you stuff, if you talk to them. Or just stand close to some NPCs and listen to their dialogues. Some are great and funny. And talking to NPCs might gove you the chance to complete your characters way of treating others. Remember, once upon a time you chose between dignity, charm and ferocity.
There is also WvW. Once you joined, check the mab for a blue mark. It’s a commander. People always follow them around. Join up. Running alone in WvW is suicide.
I was running the Ascalon Fractal last week, and when I tried to destroy one of the ballistae in the final courtyard it shot me through the ground into the ocean below. :/
I was able to swim under the entire map, though I could not get back to the surface. Eventually I managed to have my friends pull an enemy mage to drop some AoE, which managed to kill me through the ground so I could respawn and loot the chest.
I also had an experience in the Cliffside Fractal where after the final boss was killed, I was stuck in one of the cages. There was no way for me to get out of it, or kill myself, so I missed out on looting the chest.
Our group had a similar problem when we played that map last saturday. The cage was not attackable and in the end out entire party was stuck in that one cage. We had to give up. I really wished I had the GW1 version of Blood Is Power at that time.
Server: Abaddon’s mouth
Dungeon: Arah
After waiting for days for the events to spawn properly, we managed to get in. After the second boss the entire party was kicked out of Arah. The first thing I saw was a giant Lich-looking guy poking me with a greatsword. That’s when we realized, we were kicked out of Arah because the event outside started. The waypoint was NOT marked as contested. We were able to port to it when we died during the event. We had to complete the event before we were able to go back in and we had to do the ENTIRE dungeon. The progress we made was lost. I just hope it was a bug and not a planned thing to happen, as it was frustrating.
If minions regen out of fight, the only difference will be that they have full life instead of half. They won’t become stronger. They won’t walk out of AoE. They’re still stupid. They still die quickly. It only takes a few hits more.
A ranger can heal his pet in combat. We can’t properly do that. A ranger’s pet will regen after it died. Ours stay dead for good. So giving them OOC regen will never make them stronger than ranger pets. We just have more than one pet if we want to.
While I realize dervishes as they were known in GW1 won’t come back, it would still be interesting to take the ideas/mechanics of the class and repurpose them. A light armor class wielding scythes and having a lot of close-range/melee attacks, with lots of healing abilities/damage mitigation abilities, perhaps? I’m not sure.
elementalists and warriors with scythes?
that way all races could use it, as it wouldn’t be related to the gods, the enchantment and avatar fighting styles could be replaced with elementalists, and the regular scythe moves could be used by warriors.
and while we’re at it we could give necros a scythe, and make them into ritualists :P
And have them summon ghosts? Well, it would at least save A-Net the trouble to fix minion AI…
Largos would be nice. I’m not a fan of Tengus and I have mixed feelings about the Mursaat. They are interesting but my memories of them aren’t too pleasant. I did that one mission with the Seer way too many times -.-
The skritt are cute, but I can’t imagine a skritt talking ‘normally’. And having to listen to skritt-talk in every video? No, thank you. The same with Quaggan.
The lack of male faces was one of the reasons why my main is female. The male faces are either borderline-ugly brute or girl. And I don’t want my male characters look girlier than my females! I want them to be good-looking but not model-like. I want to have an option to add a scar, freckles or other face decoration besides beards. I would also love if the female faces would come without make up and we would be able to give them some in a seperate step. I’m not asking for something like the CAS in Sims.
More like 2-3 different ways of applying lipstick (covering the entire lips, one with lipliner and maybe a crazy shape that doesn’t cover the entire lip or so) and letting us choose the color for it like with the hair/eye/skin color. Same for eyeliner and eyeshadow and blush. just giving us 2 options each with 10-20 colors would allow us to create even more unique characters than before.
In the decorations tab, give us a couple of scars, 2-3 versions of freckles, moles, eyebags, marks etc. and let us choose 1 of them.
So the males have beards & decorations and the females have make-up and decorations.
I can understand that we don’t have a slider to adjust the body shape, since it would affect armour. But giving us more options would be nice. Especially non-perfect shapes. Chubby girls and maybe even an overweight one.
The White Mantle still exists. They’re somewhere in tha Maguuma jungle. They show up in a personal story quests for human characters who don’t know their parents. Maybe they are chaining that poor thing to some wall while we’re all busy hitting dragons. Or they did that a 2 centuries ago and that poor thing still hangs in there.
I don’t think that the gods and the dragons are the same I was just stating that if you’re going to relate them, you should do it properly.
Life -> Dwayna / Corrupted Life -> Zhaitan
Fire -> Balthazar / Corrupted Fire -> Primordius
Beauty -> Lyssa / Corrupted Beauty -> Kralkatorrik
Ice -> Grenth / Corrupted Ice -> Jormag
Magic -> Abaddon / Corrupted Magic -> Bubbles
Nature -> Melandru / Corrupted Nature -> Nr. 6
Bubbles uses magic?
Abaddon would fit Zhaitan in the way that whoever came into touch with Abaddons magic during their Lifetime would end up his servant after death. That’s why Khilbron and Shiro show up in Nightfall as well. Zhaitan’s curse seems to be similar to that. And maybe he wanted Abaddons Items because of that. To power up his curse and corrupting the living so that they rise when they die and become his servants. He doesn’t turn living creatures into zombies. He does it after they died.
The only known descendants of Doric are Jennah and Wade. And since we know of them, we tend to think that one of those two will end up with Magdaer.
Jennah is a queen. She is of royalty, so she seems perfect for the case. But only human toons get to meet her. The other races only hear about her during the dungeon stories. She tries to be friends with the Charr, but she is no fighter. And Logan would never allow her to enter Ascalon City, since it is pretty dangerous, he loves her and she is a queen.
Wade is a fighter and a descendant of Doric. He could defend himself, but only players who join the vigil ever meet him. I only played the whisperers story line. And have never even heard of Wade. He is not prominent enough. And there doesn’t seem a connection between him and Eir, who has Magdaer now.
The only one who seems to be able to handle the danger and has a connection to Eir and is even a descendant of Ascalonians is Logan.
King Adelbern: “You’ve defeated me, but what’ve you gained? Much deadlier things stir beneath us. They’ll consume you all!”
Eir: “Magdaer is shattered, but I know a blacksmith who can mend these pieces.”
Rytlock: “Did you really think that if you got me a sword you’d earn forgiveness?”
Eir: “For you? The sword would be for Logan.”
Rytlock: “What? Why would you risk our lives, MY life, for that coward?”
Eir: “I thought it would heal old wounds. It would remind you—”
Rytlock: “Remind me of what, betrayal? Pah! You’ve become a sentimental old woman.”
Rytlock: “We’re finished here!”
Party leader: “Why does Rytlock hate Logan?”
Eir: “Mistakes from a lifetime ago, best forgotten.”
Eir: “Rytlock’s right. I’ve gotten too sentimental. Too weak.”
This is the end dialoque of AC. Eir intends to give Magdaer to Logan. To me, it looks like Logan will have to solve the ghost problem.
Germany suffers from the same problem: Gem Cards are not sold anymore.
They are sold on some online stores though. That’s how we got ours. German Online stores ^^
Great Axe for Necro? Nah… Give us a scythe. A real one. Not just some weird animation when we have a staff in our hands. It could be medium or close range. Or both, 1-3 close range 4&5 600 range. The auto attack hits everything thats standing around us. Lots of bleed on enemies. 4 or 5 could be a self-bleed skill, that gives allies regen. 1 stack of 5s bleeding per ally (AND minion) for 10s reg for each ally (AND minion). We can take care of a little bleeding. And it would make the necro a better supporter.
I’dlove to see a whip too! For the Elementalist and the Engineer. And maybe Necromancer. But I prefer a scythe over a whip. The Elementalist has something like a whip already. Dagger Main Hand Air Attunement Auto Attack. It looks like a whip.
It could be midrange. 600 or 900. But rather 600. It would make them stand closer but not too close. And the Enginier could go close range, with the ability to immobilies his target, to pull it towards him, to cripple it etc.
We also get some sort of points. Which could be made into a currency to be used at a special shop which sells new dances, skins, town clothes etc.
I don’t like the idea of beeing able to fight in town clothing though. It would either be really stupid, since townclothing doesn’t have stats or would require townclothing to get stats which would essentially make townclothing the same as armour. Instead, players should be changed into townclothing when entering a big town. It would give townclothing a purpose.
Yeah. It would also be really great if the rare crafting mats would get their own storage too! The essences and stuff really clutter up the storage. I can understand temporary items like the candy corn. But having a way to store ectos would be great too. Then we could send them to the bank right away. I always fear to accidentally sell them.
I was at frostgorge for about 45min. I found 2 T6 bones and 1 T6 blood in that time. But about 10 of each T5 of those. I don’t know about the price of the highest dust, but if you farm there long enough you are bound to get a stack of T5 which you can transmute in the MF with skill points.
“without doing the mmo equivalent of shooting an apple on the head of an asura while blind folded while standing on a tippy toe rubbing my tummy while patting my head. It really shouldn’t be that hard.” Well lucky you, you seem to have at least 4 arms!
I’d like to see a craftable santa-costume-like armour.
Maybe the Seer attacked the Mursaat after the ED went back to sleep. I mean the ED woke up 10k BE, the gods arrived much later. It isn’t clear when exactly, but the forgotten were supposed to guard the creation of the gods and that was around 1700 BE, when they appeared. So we have a timeframe of 8k years for the Seer to find the Mursaat and attack them and get nearly extinct.
Further, do we know when the Jotun and dwarves started recording things? Did they start right after the ED went back to sleep? Or years later? This may sound trivial but it can change a lot. If they didn’t start recording until a century or two have passed, it means the information was told from one generation to the next. This may have led to changes in the information. This happens when information is passed on orally.
You can test this for yourself easily by playing a simple game. Get 10 or more people together and have them sit in a circle. One person starts the game by whispering a word or a phrase into the ear of the next person. This person then whispers what he/she heard to the next person and so on. The last person say what he/she heard out loud and then the first person says out loud what he/she started out with. The two things will most likely be vastly different.
The 5 races never had such a strong bond of unity as we have now. Unity can make quite a difference. Especially in fantasy games. Plus the Mursaat fled. I don’t know their populations so I just assume there were about equal. So the Mursaat betrayal ended in a loss of 1/5th of their force. That’s a heavy blow. Plus there is morale to consider. The other 4/5th might have been demoralized because of the betrayal, which further weakened the power of the ancient races. While the Dragons still had all their power and all their minions. The number of soldiers on the side of the ancient races was shrinking, while the Dragons grew in strength. They may have corrupted parts of the ancient races as well. We don’t know. But in the end, there was no other solution but to hide in order to survive.
Abaddon certainly won’t be seen in the near future. because after Zhaitan we’ll probably have to take care of the other elder dragons first. And if they bring back Abaddon, they’ll have to bring back the other Five (and Kormir) back as well. Since they kinda go together. But only 1 race believes in those gods. So wouldn’t the story become too human centred? It already is pretty focused on the human race. Abaddon’s temple, Grenth’s reaper, the last few story missions taking place in Orr, a human kingdom etc.
Also, in one of the last few missions, there was a norn saying something along the lines of ‘Norn help you, because if Zhaitan can be beaten, maybe Jormag is next’. This implies that we will have to fight through all 4, 5 or 6 Elder Dragons.
Aaaand: What if there really are 6 ED and 6 human gods? What if each ED is only compatible with the magic of one of the 6 gods?
Zhaitan – Abaddon (Abaddon had something similar to undead servants)
Primordeus – Balthasar (Fire)
Jormag – Grenth (Ice)
Deep Sea Dragon – Lyssa (Aparently she’s the goddess of water now. It said so in human character creation)
Krakaltorrik – Dwayna (he was able to scorch the ground by merely flying over it. So maybe his corruption spreads through air, which Dwayna patrons over).
Nr 6 – Melandru (plant based god for a plant based ED).
Before the Halloween event started, my BF and I wanted to get gem cards to buy the exclusive stuff. We spent over 2 hours running throughout Zurich (Switzerland) trying to find Gem Cards. We found only 1.
Last week we did the same again for the Black Friday Sale. We did not find a single gem card. The employee of a store told us, that they don’t get them delivered anymore.
We don’t own a credit card. We don’t own a debit card. We don’t have paypal-Accounts. All we have is paySafeCard which isn’t supported. So we had to buy the gem cards online via a third party site that accepted PSC. Problem: The prices were in Euros, the prices were slightly higher than a normal Gem Card, there was a fee and of course, 1 Euro is around 1.2 CHF. So we paid a lot more just to be able to get Gems. The difference between the cost of 1 real gem card in a store here and the online gem card was roughly 10 CHF (10.75$ according to Google). Considering a gem card costs 30 CHF we paid 1/3 more than we would have to if the cards were available in the stores.
Is that only in Switzerland or do other places have a similar problem?
Will Swiss stores be delivered with more Gem Cards anytime soon?
Could you make an option for PSC? Please?
My main, a Necro, has the full set of the Mad King Armour bought mostly from the TP. One part of it, the head I think, was a present from my BF. He also helped out with the gold for the rest. My Necro is the only char that has proper armour, but the other are, except for my Ele, below lvl 20. I tried farming a few times, but it’s too boring and I can’t do it longer than 10 or 20 minutes, which makes it pretty much pointkless to even start with.
Casual players can always do dungeons and fractals. A lot of gold can be made, especially since they introduced those bag of wondrous goods that can contain gold, karma and the dungeon tokens as well. If you are not intrested in the dungeon armour, you can either keep the tokens to get the armour with another char or get the cheapest armour and salvage it for ectos.
Also when pushing crafting disciplines you eventually craft rares. Instead of selling them, you can salvage them to get ectos. When I pushed tailor to 400 on my Necro, I got 10-15 ectos out of the rares I crafted to get to 400. Of course it costs a lot, since the fine mats you need are kitten expensive, but ectos are still worth more than the few coins vendors or TP would give you for the item.
But to be hones, I wouldn’t mind if completing Orr areas, or Frostgorge or other 80 or 70-80 or such areas (except that Karka thing) would reward you with…10 or so ectos. There aren’t THAT many lvl 70+ areas, so they can’t be ‘farmed’. They can be completed multiple times with different characters. But it takes time to get to those areas and it takes time to clear them and it would be nice to have a chance for ectos and not a guaranteed drop. So instead of 40 wood logs you get 10 ectos or so. Maybe.
I don’t play PvP. I don’t even play WvWvW. And when I do I use my ranger alt. So I can’t tell about the strengths and weaknesses of the Necro in PvP, but in PvE I don’t think we are as weak as we are portrayed.
Does a necro really need damage mitigating skills? We have DS, access to regeneration and health siphoning, a great condition removal with Consume Conditions, can buff out hp with forms etc. We can tank! we’re just meatshields when we do, but we can do it. We also can support our group while doing it, since we have a great AoE heal skill in DS when we have the blood Transfusion trait equipped.
If you compare glass canons, I think we do pretty well in suriviability. I run a glass cannon build because I can’t stand the reanimator trait. My BF runs a glass cannon trait as Ele since he likes high numbers on a red back ground. If the two of us are alone, he goes down and I pick him up. Usually. The opposite dies happen every once in a while but mostly it’s me picking him up. So to me, a glass cannon necro surives longer than a glass canon ele.
Apart from DS, a necro has other ‘extra health bars’. Plague and Lich both give extra HP. While you can’t heal while in plague or lich form, you have extra HP sustaining more damage than usual and if it gets critical you can always get out of the form early, use a heal and get into DS.
I don’t know how demanded the food stuff is, that you can craft with 400 skill, but below 400 I haven’t seen prices higher than 2s for any food. And the 1.5 – 2s were mostly on Halloween food. So to me, cooking seems not really profitable. Especially when the costs of raw materials for a piece of food is 5s or more. And 5s is easily reached if yopur recipe requires vanilla or the likes. Some materials cost 5-6s alone.
So unless the 400-food is really demanded and prices are around 4-5s a piece, cooking is unprofitable. Other professions can at least make some money back by selling stuff to players or NPCs or salvaging rare stuff for ectos.
The reason I maxed out cooking on my Mesmer is because of the exp gain and the fact that I am able to make decent buffs for my group members when we enter FotM or dungeons.
But I do hope that ANet eventually does something to make crafting profitable. Or at least more useful than for quick levelling of twinks.
