- Fixed a bug where players would sometimes take damage in PvP.

The whole pips business wouldn’t be so bad if the machmaking and balancing wouldn’t be the failures they are… in the end it comes down to luck, if you get the coveted 2 thief 1 warri combo on your team (which by the way happened mutliple times today) you’re done, there’s absolutely no way you will win. I’ve played 8 hours today and have not progressed at all, it’s infuriating. It is also a shame, ‘cause I was actually looking forward to leagues. Yeah I’m salty af.

I know this is not a gameplay problem per se, but I find the ground effect for the Facets really distracting. The outlines are fine, but why we need the purple-orange pulsing blob under our feet, especially for something that’s potentially used for long periods of time, is beyond me.
With the recent patches to decrease visual clutter, maybe this could be looked at as well?

I keep crashing in AB, DS, everywhere…

This is all fine, now please make Weakness affect condi damage.

Yes please, all of the above

It’s fun vs burn guards, also can get rid of the 7 hours of weakness that’s thrown around constantly.

Devata, I have no idea what wonderland you’re living in, but hop into the game and actually use the skill. What you’re saying simply doesn’t occur. Yeah, you can use another skill to keep track of the cooldown, but saying that’s a reasonable way to do it is 12 types of ludicrous.
This… I’m reading what Devata says and feel like I’m tripping

I agree that focus is in a good place atm, but the fire skills for it still kinda suck, not just Fire Aura but in my opinion Flamewall is objectively worse than the dagger counterpart too (longer cd, less burnstacks, no upfront damage).
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Balancing (or rather nerfing) ele is a hot topic and deservedly so, DD ele is truly overpowered in some game modes/roles. However what I’d like to point out is when it eventually gets nerfed Eles will need something else, and SF Fresh Air could be one of those things, it’s probably the most fun build to play, and has great potential.
To make it really viable though, the weaponset needs to be adjusted in my opinion. I’m not calling for flat damage increase, but there are some absolutely useless skills that really need improvement (looking at you Shatterstone), and others that are just a way worse version of dagger skills (Flamewall and basically all the autoattacks).
So Anet please when you do a balance pass on Eles, take the time to look at the other weapons and not just nerf dagger.

Any kind of out of range indicator would be nice tbh, like the standard red line below the skill icon for example.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
If any upgrade is made to portal it should be timer between entre/exeunt and a range indicator… this has probably been said a million times though

I’m just gonna bump this so devs hopefully see it

It also doesn’t target anything not in front of you… I really hope it’s a bug…

So I’ve faced the same premade 4 times now, while playing solo… this is kinda pointless tbfh.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
So I see a lot of people explaining how to kill turrets first, how they aren’t used in high tier, how you can just outrotate them, etc.
My opinion though, is that high tier premade teams are not representative of pvp. Most people do a couple of matches in soloqueue a day, they don’t have a team nor do they want a team. They want to enjoy pvp. And then you get stuff like 3-4 turret engis in a game, which is just boring, slow, uninteresting gameplay. The problem is not that they are OP (although I do think they should be toned down a bit, turret hp, damage scaling, something), it’s that playing vs them or even with them just doesn’t feel pvp, it’s stationary structures doing stuff. And sure you can ignore the engi and play on the other points, but should a single spec of a single class have such a gamechanging impact? I don’t think so.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I liked most of the stuff we were allowed to see (although it wasn’t much sadly).
What I didn’t like was the hammer on Rev, it feels very slow, long casting times and very static skills. And the #3 skill breaks your camera and movement. I appreciate the innovative skill visuals but if I point the camera somewhere it’s for a reason so please don’t take control from me just to show off the effects.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I think the main problem is that the builds and team comps that work for conquest don’t necessarily work for TDM (and Stronghold will be added too). A lot of the roles are just useless in that gamemode, like thieves with the mobility and low staying power in fights for example, or bunkers.
While you do have some time to adjust your build before the match I don’t think a lot of people want to click through all that and then set the original build up again after the match. If we could save and select builds with one click that would maybe help, also like others said a more focused map would probably be better.

Mods,
Please merg with the “nerf class” thread please. Quick before he has a thread for every class other than necro.
Lich clearly op, nerf necros pls

For a change I’m not gonna whine about the matches and MMR, but instead would like to ask why the NA ladder isn’t updating? Says next update should be at 3:40AM PST but thats already passed.

As a suggestion, what do you think about:
- Ether Feast – Remove two conditions if you have two or more clones.
I like that, maybe could be similar to how it now heals extra for clones, “remove a condition for each active illusion” so it’s more reliable. I would even take reduced healing for this tbh
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
It’s unique to GW2 as you pointed out. I’d suggest learning to use it instead of making stupid statements on the forums Downstate adds a layer of strategy which in my opinion is always a good thing.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
At least in WvW I would say its the Necros mistake if he engage without any lf at all (just killing like 3 white rats running out of spawn should give 50%)
My thoughts exactly, why would you engage with no LF in WvW…

- For resistance specifically, do you think stances like Berserker’s Stance would be better using this boon instead? What about traits like Diamond Skin or Automated Response?
That would be a huge nerf to those abilities and traits…
Boons can be removed unlike these skills, and also these type of skills currently prevent anything from being applied to you, so you negate the entire possible condi duration not just the time the ability lasts.
So if the decision is made to use this boon for everything, these skills/traits will have to be rethinked and compensated in some way.

I don’t have anything to add but these suggestions shouldn’t be on page 4
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I agree with pretty much everything in the OP, great suggestions.
I’d like to add one more thing, better statistics. It would be great to be able to filter wins and losses by map/class/game mode and also by current ladder/lifetime. It would be even better to be able to see similar breakdowns of objectives achieved. So for example I could see that I’m doing a good job on my thief decapping on Legacy but I’m not as effective on Forest. This would help give people some feedback and something to work on.

I proposed anew rune about this very subject to the deva and they did not take me seriously…
Rune of the Oeggs: instantly drop supply crate on crit. If you die yell an explitive in map chat.giving all allies 3 might stacks.
Hahah thanks for this I actually laughed out loud
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
When you make your PvP build you select an amulet – all your stats come from that. The defense comes from armor class (ie light-medium-heavy) as others have pointed out above. PvE stuff is cosmetic only in PvP.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Nice video What I’m thinking though about the weapon swap / might stacking issue – wouldn’t it be better to increase the cooldown on the sigils and/or decrease the might duration? That would achieve the same thing (ie. nerf to cele/might) but would be more specifically targeted at classes that can abuse the sigils with faster swaps.

Also Obsidian Flesh for eles (invulnerability).

My personal favorite is MM Necro. Been running MM since GW1 and I haven’t been disappointed. Check my signature for the full build hope its as fun for you as it is for me. Its is an MM bunker build.
Yes, go MM necro… why play when the AI can do it for you! Or turret engi, if you like to watch tv while standing afk on a point.
(But seriously, please don’t.)

So by “stupid reasons” you mean you died from getting tricked into standing on a glass door?
Or did you die because your team failed to control the hammer? That just creates more strategy to determine how many resources (players) you need to devote. This is no difference from destroying/defending trebuechet.
Were you just outplayed and knocked off the map? Did you have stability? What class were you?
All I see is just a lot of posts of people crying rather than any real concrete justifications of deleting a great map from PvP…
No I wasn’t “tricked” or “outplayed”… I died to the cheese only made possible by the mechanics of the map (ie. the breakable glass that instakills you) combined with some classes ability to pull your character while in stealth. The hammer is fine, the glass is not.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I actually alt-f4’d out today after getting pulled onto the glass the 34934th time by stealthed engis/thieves… It’s stupid, annoying and is not interactive. I don’t mind dying but I do mind dying for stupid reasons.
Please either remove or revamp Skyhammer, it’s incredibly bad and unbalanced the way it is.

Agree with Paavotar, WvW titles (or at least one of them) should work like Gladiator-Mercenary-etc.. works in PVP.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
If there is going to be a golem trap, then it is likely to be some sort of movement paralysis or stun trap rather than actually causing damage to the golems.
The problem with golem attacks is that they can be overwhelmingly swift and thus no defence can be raised in time to protect the capture spot. Something that slows the golems is a fair potential counter to this.
Yeah but the golems are usually ported around not walking anywhere. A golem version of a long duration chill would probably work better to slow them down.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
The advantages of golems are supposed to be balanced by their higher cost… That said, we did a rush with 27 omegas the other day so maybe they are not quite expensive enough

@Kraag,
I think we mostly agree. I’d like to see combat prowess more rewarded as well, I’m just not so sure this proposal would help that. I still think mass rezzing is very punishable as it is, it takes quite a while even with a lot of players and despite the AoE cap a couple of wells, meteornados, hammer stuns or what have you can ruin their day quickly. And if they are rezzing with 30, they might as well just kill you and then rez…
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
@Kraag,
I don’t see WvW as a competitive PvP game mode in the sense you seem to use the term. There are situations where it can be fairly balanced, but even in an 1v1 situation it’s easy to run away, get to some guards or otherwise exploit the maps. WvW is not an arena, if you want that, do sPvP.
Your whole argument revolves around being skilled, but WvW is set up so that not only individual player skill counts but strategy, logistics, organization, sometimes even diplomacy as well. Part of the WvW “skills” is the ability to get together enough allies to wipe the mapblob that just steamrolled you. Or to supply drain them so they can’t actually do much regardless of numbers. Or you could build ACs behind a choke with a couple of friends. There are a lot of possibilities…
I think this adds layers of complexity and gives players choices, both of which I see as good things. Someone can be a great commander, but absolutely suck 1v1 – is he a bad player then?
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I don’t think the downed state or the ability to combat rez (which can easily be punished) is an issue to be honest. And you shouldn’t be able to take on a group of 30 with your 2-man roaming group. Rally mechanics on the other hand can really turn the tides – one uplevel can rez a whole zerg. I think if anything, this should be changed to a one for one ratio.
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Tbh you should have enough awareness in WvW to not follow someone if they clearly have no clue what they are doing… just because they have a tag you are not forced to stick to them. Also you probably have regular commanders, why not have one of them tag up, join squad and let the PVE guy take skillpoints in a golem by himself or something.

- Mostly skill lag, sometimes rubberbanding as well.
- Tarnished Coast
- According to map/guild chat, everyone experiences the same
- See above
- Generally if there is a fight involving more than about 50 people total, lag starts to become noticeable, on large scale 3way fights it’s pretty much unplayable.

I really enjoy playing my Ele (although I almost exclusively play WvW). Sure you can probably find other professions that do various stuff better, but Ele is fun to play. And that’s what we’re all here for I suppose, fun.

Thanks, Tyler!
@Shadowkiller – Burning Retreat doesn’t get you unstuck, it does move you and then you’re rooted in a different place.

Got the same issue on Ele, seems like any skill that teleports you has a chance to get you stuck… big fun while trying to escape a blob in WvW

Same bug, trying to use BLTC. Worked fine this morning…
learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
The way I see this could be balanced is that the AoE cap would be removed and the damage would be changed so that if the attack hits 5 or less people it would deal the same damage as it does now, and if it hits more, the sum of the damage 5 would take would be distributed evenly among everyone that’s hit. This way they could avoid having to entirely redesign half the classes.

@Zord: I guess, by now, everybody know what WvW and the rules are. But 6 months after game release, we still can read same bullkittens about nightcap or time coverage.
VS has this dedication since the beginning, so what? Everybody is still surprised about that. VS doesn’t show it enough week after week since months? So please, give us a break and don’t talk about cheaters to justify anything. VS has been made for WvW by WvW players (pugs and guilds). VS gave itself the tools to reach its goal, took the game more seriously than other servers.
That’s all.
Yeah, I understand how WvW works, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy with it or that it couldn’t be improved. If like you say VS is a hardcore WvW server, I bet they’d get more fun out of the game too if it provided more gameplay related challenge and less coffeine related ones Again, I don’t mind losing, I just mind losing for stupid reasons.
Also just for the record I didn’t accuse anyone of cheating and if anyone is cheating on any side I hope they are swiftly and harshly dealt with.
