Same here. I would be able to play normally between 30 to 60 minutes. Then the 7:11:3:191:101 error would keep popping up, after lots of lagging and rubber-banding. Relogging, restarting, doesn’t help. That error keeps occurring every 5 to 10 minutes. Until I give up and try again the next day.
I’ve tried the clientport 80, deleting the local.dat,… no good. That error code just keeps happening. It only started a couple of days ago, and nothing in my hardware config or software config has changed. I can’t even complete instances now.
How about now? Is it safe to delete all the junk now?
I still have;
Mysterious Soggy bag,
Strange Shell,
Alchemical Potion,
Map of the Southsun Cove,
Map Fragment.
Same here. I wish they’d answer or at least update the item tooltip to let people know they’re not going to reuse it. You really wonder why they couldn’t have just made those NPCs take these junk items the way some heart NPCs.
Blood definitely makes the Necro more tanky, but it’s still the same game – just keep kiting. That’s exactly how you it in PvE ranged with necro – just keep or circling. Or I just take on 1 or 2 mobs at one time and just let my daggers auto-attack when I can’t be bothered to move my mouse.
Did i say i was expecting Cantha? No, don’t be stupid. I was expecting two or maybe three island/explorable areas
Well, there’s 1 PvE map, 1 PvP map, and 1 dungeon… = 3? Or did you want 2-3 PvE, 2-3 PvP and 2-3 dungeons?
Two new jumping puzzles, new achievements, new item skins, new condition, new item rarity, new monster, new lore?
Just a little bit extra content here and there feels good enough for me. But then again, people have different expectations and different speeds of going through content.
You’re kidding right?
You’re kidding right?
About two months after launch and …. what? You’re expecting Cantha?
Content doesn’t just equal new PvE map…
Well, a free gift is just not going to happen, so this request is kinda silly.
But complaining about the one-time thingy is a fair complaint. I don’t see why you guys are putting him down.
Sure, the European timezones are in a good position for players to attend, but you can’t expect 100% of players in those timezones to have the convenience to play. It was a bad idea to begin with – there should’ve been at least 3 time slots to attend – GW2 is a game played globally after all.
I would love an official answer for this as well. They’re taking up valuable inventory space
Agree. GW1 event formula was great. “Don’t fix what’s not broken” is good advice for GW2 “special” events. In GW2, it felt like they were more “exclusive” events than special world events for all the possibility of me attending them.
They were afraid of the loot chest I suppose, but I don’t see how they could not have implemented a once-per-account restriction.
Honestly, I don’t care if ANet gives gear grinds. I’m a casual player but I do love getting something to look for that is not aesthetics. At least, on gear grind, I have a chance of getting them.
What I am really disappointed is giving us something that we don’t have option of doing (like doing a “one time” event 4am in the Monday morning when we need to go to work at 6am). 0% chance. 0, nada, none, null chance of participating.
It’s a good event, I got a glimpse of it, for like 10mins this morning. But I really need to go to work. Some of us are asleep at that hour as well.
So, for crying out loud, be fair next time. Give ALL players a chance, even at 0.001%.
Same here. Whatever happened to the philosophy behind GW1 events. Everyone should be given multiple opportunities of attending a special event.
I hope they’re doing one-time events because they have technical limitations to allowing the event to repeat, and not because it was a conscious design decision to basically say “sorry, too bad” to the players on the other side of the globe.
I kind of mixed feelings over the Lost Shores event. On the one-hand, there’s really good content added. On the other, it’s been a disappointing affair.
This is from someone playing from the other side of the globe. Obviously, due to real-life commitments, it’s not possible to be awake at the start of the next phase unless I want to fail at real-life.
Ups:
I found the Fractals (only did a few runs) to be fun and the environments beautiful. Southsun Cove was also quite unique in its looks and the upped difficulty was challenging, yet not overwhelmingly so. It was a pretty good idea to run an event in conjunction with the addition of new content.
Downs:
The difficulty scale of fractals felt like an exclusivity metric, much like PvP ranks in GW1. Doing one-day only quest chains was disappointing. I skipped the scavenger hunts on phase 1 because I read they were bugged. Turns out on phase 2, only one of them was bugged and the only way I can “play” the other one now is to read the wiki.
Doing a one-time only event was a very bad decision. Especially with valuable reward items thrown in. Halloween was great, almost like a GW1 event – that one-time cutscene I missed is no biggie. But three days of one-time only events? Quite disappointing I’m forced to miss them due to being in the wrong timezone. And because I missed them, I guess the good thing is that I also missed out on all those lag and connectivity issues I’ve seen others complaining about.
I think people would be less pissed if they made the precursor loot as a reward for grinding, say, fractals. It’s a real let down when people find out that there’s a small chance of getting an extremely valuable loot – BUT only if you just so happens to have the time to participate a one-time event.
4 words :
Why wasn’t this tested?
You dont really believe that, do you?
because you cant test it with millions of players worldwide at a time, that maybe why?
I won’t diss ArenaNet for a job poorly done (because there are parts of it that were very well done) but I’d say it was a bit disappointing.
Sure, they couldn’t have done actual stress testing, but it’s not like there wasn’t precedents. Halloween event just ended last month and plus the fact that they’re inviting new players to play test… well, it should’ve been expected.
But of course, it could’ve been beyond their expectations, again. Here’s to hoping that third time’s the charm and their next world event smooths out much more.
(And I’m still hoping they’d stop this absolutely one-time event thing for a game that’s played across the globe. It’s not fun on the other side of the globe.)
f you get CC’d in DS try using fear, get out of DS, use stun breaker
Huh? I didn’t know that fear is a stun breaker. That changes a lot of things.
I’m pretty sure the other guys said “use fear, get out of DS, use stun breaker”, and not “fear is a stun breaker”… You use fear to buy yourself a little time to use a stun breaker.
There’s an update stating they’re aware of the connectivity issues.
Well now… this is interesting… I was selling some stuff to a weaponsmith in LA on an overflow when the queue thingy popped up. I transferred over to the main server out of the overflow and I noticed the weaponsmith had turned from a dark-skinned norn to a fair-skinned norn…. I thought my eyes were playing tricks or that it was caused by the night/day lighting difference.
It’s how much of a completionist you are I guess. Maybe the human starting area is just more prone to being under-levelled. I found my levelling was pretty even – story was too high, cleared bits of the map, story again, next story too high, cleared more of the map, repeat. I always clear daily achievements every play, not skipping harvesting, not ignoring crafting, and getting map completion.
I couldn’t make myself choose it; couldn’t imagine any of my characters would ever want to join a circus
She never had a first name, at least none that GW1 developers put into the game or mentioned it elsewhere. If they did, it would’ve been added to the GW1 wiki long ago. So… just make one up
Strictly speaking the Charr arent Athiests cause they accept the existance of powerful beings called ‘gods’. The human gods have had a very real presence on Tyria in the past and much of their legacy remains. However the Charr refuse to worship gods regardless of their source.
^ this is right.
They’re not atheists. They do acknowledge that there are gods, but they just refuse to accept that they need to depend or rely on the gods. They turned to believing in themselves, and thus their industry and technology were born.
I think it’s pretty weird too. Especially playing as a human with the noble background. Nobody seemed to mind this seemingly popular noble having a predilection for an undead thing following me around. And the dialogue seems out of whack. I just couldn’t get immersed and started again with a street rat background. At least, the dialogue seems to mesh better.
I’ve given up on using minions as well, except underwater, where they serve as fodder and aggro distraction. On land, they’re just not reliable. Considering their cooldown, they don’t tank well enough, if they even choose to be involved in a fight. Or they start pulling aggro from additional foes and refuse to fight the one I’m attacking.
I think they need to implement a mechanism to automatically replace a low-health minion outside of combat.
Hey, nice to see so many people saying they hate it too. I avoid underwater where possible. I find most of the short range skills to be too underpowered for the danger of closing to melee range. The minions are mandatory when underwater, just for the bit of extra aggro distraction and damage.
