Is there any possibility to showcase voxel-like technology to integrate the game?

For example – one of the features if it works in EQ Next, players can decide the changes in the world through environmental destruction, housing, landmarks, etc. and its permanent and according to the director no server will be the same. GW2 has dynamic events, but its more or less cyclic and temporary impact the world and then resets. Even though living story does a good job pacing, rest of the world is very static.

I know the engine can’t be rewritten, but I don’t know if features can be added on (not a programmer) maybe have a possible beta phase of integrating similar EQ Next sandbox features in an instance map east of Kessex Hills and west of Lion’s Arch.

The engineer is not terrible as everyone says so.

I have no problem soloing veteran risen giants in few minutes or participating grenth event. Killing karka takes 8-10 seconds or less. With magnetic shield 5 seconds or less.
Just don’t run a bunker build like I did when I first started. I had great survivability, but terrible damage.

Another tip, don’t just run power alone or crit alone. The damage becomes too linear, if you mix it up, you exponentially increase your dps. I run mix berserkers, soldiers, rampager, etc. in armor and accessories/earrings/amulets.

I’m using runes of the centaur instead of speedy kits. I use the trait the trait adrenal implant instead of invigorating speed. If not, speedy kits with invigorating speed is a must have. Perma swiftness and vigor.

Man just what’s wrong with you? you obviously can play but the it ain’t just pvp and besides we should be rewarded for our efforts no matter the situation, engineers in pvp usually manage around 4 weapons+toolbelt, knowing exactly what they are doing PLUS keeping track of what’s happening around’em… don’t you feel this is a crazy amount of things to do just to be average?

hmm, i guess not. An elementalist has to deal with the same amount of skills by switching attunements.

i believe so, based on what he wrote.

I’m using runes of the centaur instead of speedy kits. I also use the trait adrenal implant instead of invigorating speed.

I tried using invigorating speed and adrenal implant, but I only noticed it was endurance bar was 2 ticks faster.

Some combos that work VERY nice…

1) Rune of Centaur build (with 15% more bleed) plus rifle turret, rifle, toolkit (all of which apply bleeds) and Sigil of Superior Earth… you can stack 10 stacks of bleed in a matter of seconds, and one of them is an AoE bleed that you can re-apply every 7 seconds on kit swap. You can do a similar thing with poison in another build, have not tried that one yet.

2) If you already use the trait that gives you Vigor on Swiftness ( I forget the name), and Elixer R (refills your endurance bar) then take Sigil of Superior Energy, watch how many times you can dodge roll during a fight. You can basically get 5 dodges in a row.

3) With the new buff to the trait giving might upon Elixer use, you’re already doubling the might of any elixer build… just add the sigil that gives 3 stacks of might on weapon swap and add to the top end of that.

Basically, any good build we’ve been able to make so far just got an apple-sized cherry on top.

Sounds nice. I have two sets of armor. One using you mentioned superior runes of centaur, nice aoe swiftness and superior rune of infiltration (I do with 15% extra damage with the runes of infiltration and sigil of force)

I use the 50% faster endurance from traits. I’ll think about using sigil of superior earth

You can’t seriously expect us to play a class that got nothing that actually works, the few things working are outdone by the whole lot of the other classes, you may pvp fine, but what exactly are you goin to do when you face an opponent with your same “so called” level of expertise playing another class? I’d like to know that since half of engineer’s skills are bugged.

Whenever I pvp with my engi I feel like I mastered my class so much I’m doing miracles, but even thought I put so much effort into what I do, the results are VERY poor.

What about this guy whos playing with bugged skills, bugged traits and playing with people with the same skill level. How can you explain a guy who plays so well (with bugged skills/traits and underclassed) has good results?

Based on your description of what happened, you didn’t chase a warrior, you chased some1 that didn’t even want to fight ’coz sparring in WvW is meaningless and brings no real benefits, if you let the guy run, nothing would have changed, besides his pockets due to repairs.

Also I don’t really see how you guys are contributing to the topic by givin us stories and numbers when it’s clear that all we want is fixes and not nerfs (nerfs are just stupid if things aren’t even working).

I was trying to kill one of those sentry and that warrior spots me and that warrior tries to burst me down. He failed and his health down to 1/3, he runs away in circles and I chase. Every 30 seconds or so he tries to snare me and burst me and fails to do so. If I have a video, maybe that would be more convincing.

Logging in over 450 hours on engineer, I don’t feel at all engineer are underclass. I can kill all 7 other professions. Thieves and warriors being the easiest. Mesmer, bunker guardian, and smart shortbow ranger are my toughest challenges.

I agree bugs should be fixed, but that doesn’t mean engineers suck.

So this build is basically a variation on the Tankcat.

Sorry, not trying to sound like a jerk, but it is becoming pretty apparent that the bunker build is the only viable thing left for the engineer. Which pisses me off to no end.

Yeah, this is totally TANKCAT.

Also, anyone confirmed that both sigils work? I saw some posts about only one sigil giving stacks.

Stop doing paper math. This isn’t viable in PvP/WvW. I believe I don’t have to discuss why since there are plenty of other threads where this has been elaborated.

To the OP, there were and are a lot of good (PvP) engineers that do not use the grenade build.

Actually I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that good (PvP) engineers don’t use the grenade build. You occasionally see some throwing them at their feet, but they always keep it as utility and vary it up afterwards (alternatively it is more common to see bomb kits being used).

But then grenades were gaining popularity as a PvE build for leveling and dungeons, especially with the vulnerability stacks. They can still be used for vulnerability support, but they’re no longer intrinsicly better than other mediocre builds; I am finding very little difference in performance between grenade-rifle and a much easier to play (but still mediocre performance) might-stacking juggernaut build, which makes me somewhat sad.

Wow, thanks I must be good since I detest using grenades and I do think I’m good.

I’ve watched teldoo on twitch, hes damn good and he doesn’t use grenades.

Cant you do this, Have two rifles. One rifle has the sigil of strength and once that has the 25 power stacks, switch to other rifle with sigil of force. That 25 stack of power still stays there.

I’m pistil and shield user. sigil of force on pistol and sigil of perception on shield. once 25 precision stacks is built up, i switch to my other shield with sigil of air. the 25 stacks of precision is still there as well as 30% lightning strike. And it does strike

I’m a pistol and shield user. Haven’t noticed pistol nerf from that patch. I still hit 300 and during crit around 600-900.

My 20+ warrior in crappy blues+greens sometimes has lucky 1000+ crits.

300 is nothing. It’s like backpack regenerator heal.

But please continue your “engi is fine” talk.

It is fine because I killed few warriors in wvw yesterday with their lame greatsword and sword/shield/hammer. You think I just auto attack with pistol all day? Oh by the way, if i switched to my rifle my non crit damage is 1100 and crit 2300+ and thats skill 1 autoattack.

Yesterday, I had to chase a Crystal desert warrior running away from me, an engineer. Of course I had to chase him down for 5 minutes as he kept miserably trying to burst me or run away with his warhorn.

But they buffed my tool kit? You’re forgetting other classes have been nerfed as well.

Not like this one not with results like actually denying people who play engineers content because people refuse to group with engineers. There’s a limit and it’s been reached. They fix all the underwater stuff, nerfed us to practically impossible play, meanwhile they ignored everything else. Juse because one is skilled in getting around the nerfs and misses doesn’t mean it’s not wrong of them. And doesn’t mean we shouldn’t unite asking for change.

Okay, but not once was I denied in groups since Dec 14 patch. You sure its the class thats making people not group up?

You can try use HGH and enhance performance trait with the Sigil of Strength and Sigil of Bloodlust (25 stacks), with superior rune of altruism/rune of strength/pack/pirate it might be worthwhile.

2 stacks from HGH, 1 stack with Strength, 250 increase power attribute from bloodlust , 3 stacks of might from altruism, 20% might duration from runes. It’s not bad I would say. With elixir b, its another stack of might. Fire bomb and healing turret combo gets you another 3 stacks of might and if you run pistol and shield, magnetic inversion gets another 3 stacks of might.

Total – 13 stacks of might, 20% might duration (40% might duration with 2 superior runes of strength and 2 superior runes of pirate and 2 superior runes of altruism, 250 power attribute increase. Although its just in theory, it could work

ranger got nerfed that last update patch 10/7 with the shortbow. 9% less damage on skill number 1 because the firing rate of the shortbow number 1 skill increased by 490 milliseconds. That’s just one example. Easier to tell people to search in the forum, rather than me laying it all out.

Why is it that the engineer is required to execute to perfection to compete with virtually every other class?

I’ve been doing fine kill enemies in wvw. I relish stealth/backstab thieves. Warriors and necros are easy kill. Guardians, as long as guardians aren’t bunkers, they’re not difficult to dispatch, same with elementalists. I always have trouble with mesmers, oh well which class doesn’t? short bow rangers are pain in the butt.

I feel in no way, engineer is underclassed or “required to execute to perfection to compete with other class”

You should watch teldoo in twich. He’s an amazing engineer player and probably one of the best on his tourney team.

edit-i know bugs are still there, but its surely, but slowly getting there.

Well, my engineer hasn’t been affected in anyway. I don’t use grenades..boo hoh. When I did use it at a time, I knew it was the dps was going to get nerfed, but they did add damage to flash and freeze grenades. With vulnerability stacks you do even more dps.

Juggernaut was overly strong with infinite stability. 200 toughness and 9 stacks of might and infinite stability… People going pew pew wasn’t surprising.

Elixir gun was FIXED from bug. Super elixir was incorrectly healing from “impact healing” not from pulse healing, so its to be expected they fix that. No one should be QQ over this. Of course the healing is nice when you stack with kit refinement and healing attribute over 1300, ticks over 12500 health in 10 seconds stacked with two super elixirs which doesn’t even include regen boon. I played the bunker build, so I know its pros and cons.

I wouldn’t be surprised if gear shield’s cooldown increases because of the warrior’s shield stance.

I got invited to do hotw, didn’t know that we were taking advantage of glitch/exploit – doing 3 paths in one run.

Group choose the 3rd choice. We go on roofs of ice and skip trash mob and mainly fight underwater against the end bosses. Took less than an hour.

I’m assuming the devs read this and hope this glitch/exploit is patched.

I’ve used this similar type of bunker play style since September – similar to tankcat.

I’ve used this build in wvw, dungeons, pve, and spvp. Consists of Pistol and Shield, Healing Turret or Med Kit, Tool Kit, Bomb Kit, Elixir Gun and Supply Crate.

Super Elixir – tested with sigil of superior life with 25 stacks ticks 6320 health in 10 seconds and with kit refinement ticks another 6320 health. If you stack two super elixirs at same time you’re getting 12640 and with impact heal its 1264 – its over 13904 health in 10 seconds. [Also to note the skill tip on super elixir is either incorrect or bugged] This is awesome healing for dungeons, general pve and pvp.

Healing Turret – Usually heals over 7000 health every 20 seconds or 15 seconds if you pick up. If you detonate the healing turret with water combo, its another 1300 health. In addition with superior rune of the flock heals another 1200 each time you use your healing skill. Combine healing comes around 95000 every 20 seconds. I didn’t even include regeneration boon included by healing turret [10.5 seconds of 3100 healing , which is another 300 per second. In addition you have healing mist, regeneration mist, cleansing burst at your disposal. Burst healing with allies around 2500 with regen boon

Healing Power in engineer stacks very well, not like other professions.

Cleansing Burst – When you’re stacked with many conditions, this is when I tend to use it.

Superior Rune of the Flock – heals 1200 each time you use your healing skill [10 second cool down] and its super cheap in TP. 10% chance to summon bird to that blind foe for 5 seconds.

Gear Shield is amazing – I wouldn’t be surprised if they bump up the recharge and with 3 seconds of block attacks. Great for preventing burst damage or oncoming damage when you’re trying to run back to the tower.

Magnet – Simply awesome when you can pull people from towers or pull them to your big ol bomb or pull when someone is trying to run away.

The most unrated value about engineer – variations of combos and blast finishers. Area stealth, 9-12 stacks of area might, Area Retaliation with big ol bomb and detonating healing turret, supply crate, magnetic inversion

Pro – Great tanking and healing abilities and condition removal, great support player, great at bunking certain spvp nodes, variations of combos and 3 blast finishers, laugh at thieves failing to burst you down. 100% up time of swiftness and vigor.

Con – Lack of overall damage and condition damage, 1 vs 1 usually turns to stalemate , average health, low crit. In spvp, playing as a bunker, you can’t kill stuff.

I haven’t used tank cats build, but I see the differences from watching the video. he has 10 seconds if invulnerability due to elixir s, and his use of superior rune of the doylak, few differences of traits and his use of soldier/knights accessories. I’ve mostly used cleric accessories and weapons. High power with high toughness and healing power.

Also to note, I don’t really play this bunker style as often, I’ve becoming more aligned with balance stats . I still have high survival skills, but not like as bunker. So far I’m having good results, but I’m, able to kill stuff solo in wvw. I still need to transmute other gear from dungeons to get the stats I want, it’ll probably take few weeks.

TLDR – Great support build, but don’t expect to kill stuff.

I’m not a fan of using grenades, so it doesn’t affect me.

I find the tool kit saving my life quite a bit especially in WvWvW and sPVP. Gear Shield is fantastically amazing. Pretty much negates hundred blade spike and heartseeker spam and you can even use it on the move. For example, a thief immobilizes me and I go to stealth due a trait. Either I switch to bomb kit and use smoke bomb or toolkit and use gear shield. It all depends on the situation. You can practically negate the initial spike. Gear shield blocks all the attacks from all sides.
I encountered a hundred blade warrior last night, I got stunned and I saw warrior switch to greatsword and I immediately switched to toolkit and popped gear shield. It blocked all 8 strikes and that’s 8 times you didn’t take that damage. Of course dodging works just as good. My only wish is to make gear shield match the duration of warrior’s shield stance [3 seconds]

Kit Refinement in the tool trait line synergies well with kits, especially with elixir gun.
When you switch to elixir gun, it casts super elixir and you can use that while your stunned or immobilized or w/e and switch back to your other kit or weapon. I use it in WvWvW often, often doubling casting it which heals around 180 from each super elixir. 3600hp in 10 seconds isn’t to bad as well as removing two conditions on impact.

I never was a fan of grenades and turrets, so I can’t say much about them. Underwater with grenades and that trait, its like godmode.

I use flamethrower in pve, it has good damage and utilities.

Mine and the tool belt skill throw mine were my favorite utility until it got nerfed. I do miss my 15 seconds of aoe stealth [smoke bomb], 15 seconds of aoe retaliation [super elixir], and 15 stacks of might which last around 25 seconds [napalm]. Yeah it was overpowered, but I never used it in sPVP. I mostly used it to roam around pve and WvWvW and to avoid mobs /players lol to get skill challenges and nodes. Since mine is kind of trash for me, my current favorite is big ol’ bomb with, love the explosion.

Currently, I’m using pistol and shield with med kit, toolkit, bomb kit, and elixir gun So far, I love it. For me its all around, has good condition removal, damage mitigation, damage and condition damage, snares, and so forth. It’s working out for me, but doesn’t mean it’ll work out for you. Engineer are very versatile, it can be played however you want to play it.
