Kirito, since you mentioned the idea of contacting your attorney (which i think is an empty threat), any reliable attorney is likely going to tell you to stop posting here since that could jeopordize any potential lawsuit. I think a lawsuit over a video game account is waste of legal time and not worth the price, but if you are indeed serious about the idea, I suggest stop posting in the forums and instead contact your attorney. If you weren’t serious, please don’t make such threats.

If you want controlled pvp fights, try structured pvp. WvW is for madness, chaos, ganking, zerging, random small group fights, random 1v1s, etc. It isn’t there for safety during pve activities, as you are finding out.

Well I think the charr are a waste of oxygen, but people like to play them for whatever reason. To each his own. :p

I didn’t mention light/medium/dark as I want all three (for different classes), but now that I think of it I should have mentioned that in my original post.

I keep trying appearances of different helms I loot on my asura guardian and so far all but one (the one I accidentally salvaged) show the ears. I like the hidden ears look, just like I would only play a charr if I could hide that annoying tail.

And I did try to make my asura’s ears small, but I prefer them hidden. I’m hoping for a future barbershop / cosmetic surgery lab where I can get my asuras’ ears removed. lol

Does anyone know the name of a helm that hides asura ears? A simple small round helm that has no ear holes is what I’ve been looking for. I had one ages ago but mistakenly salvaged it, and I haven’t found another since. I still can’t preview helms in the trading post.

If you know of a cheap one that I can buy can you post the name please? ty ty ty

Ok, then I misunderstood. I was basing my comments on your multiple references to commanders in your first paragraph.

You aren’t going to know how well pvp is going to be on your server a few months from now until it IS a few months from now. You can transfer, but I’m sure you are well aware that every transfer is risky. You just don’t know what kind of battles you are going to get, despite people’s claims that such-and-such server is great, or such-and-such server has a massive population with no queues ever (lies), or such-and-such server sucks. And of course it’s going to depend on time zone, other people’s choice of where to play, who transfers where, etc. etc. etc. But you already know all of that.

I am on a last tier server and am absolutely loving the WvW action. I enjoy it much more than I did when we were on a t1/t2 server. But that’s just me.

Transfer if you want. Stay if you want. We can’t tell you what you should do. Only you know that. If it were me I’d stay as I find action on lower pop server to be more intense and more interesting, but I also don’t like large zergs.

So…. we can’t tell you what you should do. We can only speak for ourselves. I hope you are able to figure out what’s best for your play style. Best of luck!

Why are some unable to play without following a commander around? Where I play people are able to run around on their own and in small groups without following a pretty blue icon. If your server has commanders that don’t know how to lead, people shouldn’t be listening to them. Sometimes players are much better off thinking for themselves instead of being told what to do.

They aren’t going to tell you what the cutoff limit is for transactions being flagged as possible RMT. If they said “we allow 50 gold to be transferred but not 51” then the RMT people would sell at 50 and not 51.

I’m not sure how this is going to stop them. All they have to do is wait 72 hours, correct? So instead of getting my occasional “i love you” pm which offers illegitimate gold for sale today, I will get it 3 days from now.

I was a young child when I started playing video games, and I have yet to kill anyone IRL. So I think I turned out ok.

Just pick any server and you will likely be happy. Nobody is going to come here and say that everyone on their server is mean and unhelpful, as those servers don’t exist. Like other games, each server here as a bunch of good apples. Yes a few bad ones exist everywhere, but overall you should be happy wherever you go as long as you pick a server in a world (EU or NA or whatever) that is compatible with your schedule.

I suggest not joining a server based on one single person’s opinion.

What specifically are you looking for that isn’t in the server you are currently on?

I think my map completion, on my level 80 guardian, is around 30%. lol

I don’t think players need a tutorial about where to log out. imo it’s not a big deal to be killed in this game. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve never lost gear or items as a result of being killed, either by npcs or by another player. All it costs me is repair money, and I don’t remember hearing anyone say they couldn’t afford to repair their gear.

Sometimes the best lesson is to actually experience cause and effect. Go afk some place where you can be attacked. Die. Lesson learned, and without a tutorial.

Which zones are empty? On a small-pop server I saw people in intro and lowbie zones, mid-level zones, and in level 80 areas, at non-prime time. And, of course, in pvp.

You do have some good ideas. I’m not sure about making things too random as I can see people complaining that the randomness means they are never able to participate as the random events always seem to occur when they’re not in-game.

I wouldn’t use mounts. I’m always too busy killing, looting, or harvesting. I don’t miss mounts at all, except for WvW when I have to run back from a map point.

Really though, there needs to be a bigger selection of hot virtual males, wearing very little gear, in this game so we ladies have something to look at.

If I am trying to do some pve (or anything at all) in a pvp zone, I expect to be attacked at any moment. It IS a pvp zone, after all. If people want to pve safely, they should stay in pve-only zones.

If I’m foolish enough to go afk in an area where I can be attacked by npcs, regardless of whether they are pulled to me by another player, that is my fault.

I don’t really care about it unless it offers something like extra storage, but I’d rather that extra storage just be added to my vault instead.

lotro, which is the game I previously played, did a pretty bad job with housing, so my view is probably jaded a bit. lol

I haven’t read this thread’s comments, so I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but I would expect that a thread placed in this form would have significantly more pve’ers respond than pvp’ers. Yes pvp’ers read this forum, but those who exclusively or primarily pvp are probably less likely, imo, to read this forum than those who primarily pve.

It would be interesting to see what a similar poll placed in the WvW forum would have in terms of results. But I’m too lazy to do that. lol

I like the idea of being able to group with the opponent as it can be useful for setting up duels. However, I think those who are grouped with an opponent should have a different colored name over their heads so others on the same or opposing side will know something might be up.

As for “spying” and such, I think that is overblown and overrated in this game and other games. I came from a game that had so much paranoia about spying, that if people took that energy and instead focused it on actual pvp, we would’ve had much better fights.

If 2 people on different servers want to “spy” and help each other out, it’s a lot easier to do that using voice than it is in-game, and anyone from any server can talk to any opponent if they set up voice chat ahead of time.

So if you’re worried about spying and such with the grouping abilities, do yourselves a favor and don’t worry. Just go play the game. You’ll be happier.

This is what happens when people insist on playing on high pop servers. The more people trying to get in WvW, the longer the queues.

I switched from a high pop server that often had queues and big zergs to a low pop server that has no queues, has nice people, and great fights. I couldn’t be happier.

I don’t think it’s a bug. It’s really everywhere in Brisban Wildlands and even the asura starting zone :S and I’ve always had this since beta, even if I’ve never complained before.

Just because it’s “everywhere” and has been there a long time doesn’t mean it’s not a bug. I’ve known of server and client bugs (not affiliated with ArenaNet in any way) that existed for years before being fixed. It’s about priority, resource availability, etc.

Seeing as how this thread was moved into the game bugs forum, me thinks this is a bug.

The jumping puzzles help add variety to WvW, and I don’t see them as being a bad thing. If you don’t want people standing around doing something other than obsessing over kills, go kill those players. I’m sure not all of them are going to be on your server. Go kill them and teach them a lesson…. show them that WvW zones are serious business and they need to either pvp or stop going there.

Seriously though, it’s really not a big deal. Just continue with your pvp and ignore the jumpers, or go kill them.

So if the person you kill has to run back from a map point because they couldn’t get revived, would that give you greater satisfaction? If so, this might not be the game for you.

If I kill someone and they get a revive, great for them. They can continue playing the game instead of wasting time running back, and I can continue attacking others around me, including that revived player. I consider it a win-win situation, but to each his own.

I don’t understand what’s “broken” with the current implementation. I see people in higher level areas, mid level areas, and lower level areas while in pve, and I play on one of the lowest pop NA servers (in terms of pvp). I see absolutely nothing wrong with the current implementation.

I initially have the same thoughts, but then I remember all the times in pve where they pulled more aggro than they needed to and died quickly and left me to fend for myself. After that I feel good about killing them.

How does spending 100g on a pretty icon mean one is qualified to bark out orders? It doesn’t.

You might like zerg action, but when I sign on and just see people blindly following a character with an icon over his head, all I can do is sigh.

And, of course, try to find a server with better action.

I currently play on Sanctum of Rall, which has a lot of zerg vs zerg action from what I have seen. In fact, it’s pretty much all I have seen since the introduction of commander icons. (I REALLY HATE those things!!!)

Is there a server that has a sociable, friendly WvW community, where people are actually using /map chat for friendly convos and relaying of info (no barking out orders!), and where small group action is the norm?

I was on Ferguson’s Crossing last night and was surprised at how nice people were, although eventually a commander popped on and started barking out orders. /sigh There was zerging going on, but overall the vast majority of the players were very polite and sociable.

Is there a server that has that AND mostly small group action, or am I asking for too much?

I can fully understand being frustrated and ticked off if banned unfairly, but there really is nothing you can do except continue playing the game. Their bot detection system can’t be 100% foolproof as that’s impossible to determine. There will be false positives on occasion. I choose to accept that and continue playing the game as I have been, because sitting here worrying about whether farming for mats is going to get me a wrongful suspension is going to serve no purpose whatsoever. I’d rather not worry about it and just enjoy my limited game time, but that’s just me. To each his own.

How would ArenaNet know what you are accepting money for? They have said many many many times that the vast majority of transactions where gold is sent from one person to another are fine. If you are buying or selling gold from another player using REAL money then you will probably be caught in time, and banned. If what you are doing is legitimate then just do it and enjoy the game and stop worrying.

You had concerns about farming in the same area. I pointed out that I sometimes farm in the same areas and that it hasn’t been a problem. Therefore one can infer that just because one farms in the same area for hours, that doesn’t mean one is going to get banned.

Even Gaile, an employee, said a logical choice is to farm and not worry about it. Not sure what else can be done to convince you otherwise…

If you are that worried about it, don’t farm in the same areas. Move around. What else is there to do… /shrug

Some bots do indeed move to the exact same spots each time. It depends on how they’re programmed.

ArenaNet isn’t going to divulge how they are revealing their methods of finding bots, nor should they. When I farm for materials, I just do it, sometimes for hours in the same areas, and I don’t worry about any bans. Hasn’t been a problem.

There is, without any doubt whatsoever, going to be some variance in movements when people grind for mats using hand and keyboard. You are not going to be able to move from one position to another, using the exact same positions, time and time again. There is going to be variance. And I suspect that the ones who use bots, who also try to add variance to their movements, are still getting caught.

Anyway, my point is, it is not possible to run the exact same path, circle or square or whatever, repeatedly, for hours on end, if you are controlling your keyboard manually. Ain’t gonna happen.

If you are getting the error code 7 I suggest doing what the first post in that thread suggests. It might help them come up with a fix if they don’t already have one ready.

Regardless of how many PCs they have in their testing arsenal, they aren’t going to catch every bug. But you can help them by giving them the info they are seeking. The more info they have, the sooner they will be able to resolve the problem.

My incentive for reporting them is to get them out of the game so they’re not taking their ill-gotten goods and selling them so they can get more gold to sell to suckers who are stupid enough to buy using RMT. So the botters get banned and the stupid buyers get banned, and I’m happy.
