Just want to add a +1 to all of the people saying that putting different colors of tags behind a 1500g paywall is definitely not the solution we’ve been looking for. That’s a ridiculous price to pay for a little bit easier coordination. Please just unlock all the colors for the 300g price tag!
Additionally, please please please add guild commander tags. Being able to only have your guild see the tag would be such a boon. I’d pay separately for a tag that only my guild could see.
Oh, we can complain. I just don’t really expect anything to come of it.
THIS.
We on Dragonbrand managed to break into gold the week before the tourney started. (Partially because of the fall of SoR, sorry) As a “reward” for this feat, we get 275 tickets, which is 25 short of even a single mistforged weapon!
What gives?
Yep, that’s the problem.
We on Dragonbrand managed to break into gold tier the week before the tournament started. As a “reward” for this feat, we got 275. What a tease! 25 short from a single weapon!
Really disappointed. It’s a low blow.
My struggle is that as a “reward” for finally breaking into gold right before the tournament, we on Dragonbrand got ZERO mistforged weapons instead of 2.
Until today, I was under the understanding that the gift could be purchased with badges of honor. Obviously, I should have done my research better. But c’mon. We break into gold and you tease us with 275 (short only 25!) tickets.
Low blow. I’m pretty disappointed.
My issue is that the last week before the tourney, Dragonbrand made gold.
We barely belonged there. But that’s fine, someone has to be at the bottom. But as a reward for getting gold tier, we got ZERO shiny weapons, instead of the two we probably would have gotten in silver tier. And they teased us with 275 tickets, just 25 shy of our weapon.
That’s a problem.
The new trait system is cool for helping new players discover content.
But for veterans who just want to play WvW? It’s a nightmare.
If it were a little gold and a skill point or two per trait, that would be fine. But at 20 skill points per trait it will break the bank for a long time on new toons. Previously, you could afford to level 100% through WvW (slow but fun), and you didn’t have to touch other content if you didn’t want to. That’s technically still possible, but to unlock all the traits it’s going to cost 300 skill points for just the grandmaster traits.
Even on my main, I don’t have the skill points to unlock the new traits because I am constantly spending them on superior siege and saving up for my legendary. And then I can’t even do the temple events to unlock because apparently those are the new champ train, so they’re never contested.
Please please please lower the unlock cost for traits. Let me play my WvW, don’t force me to farm trait unlocks.
I still can’t believe this change. I didn’t mind them combining the two daily categories. But the total with both is fewer achievements than just the PvE dailies from before? That’s pretty unacceptable. There are some days where I’m in a hurry to complete my dailies, and this makes some days potentially pretty rough. Yesterday there was 3 skill points and 2 world ranks. That’s 2/7 PvE/WvW achieves that are quite time consuming.
Just bump the number back up to 16 or so. No reason not to, people will still log on for their dailies.
I like the new world boss schedule, mostly. But I have two concerns:
The first is the temples. Theoretically, the new system is fine. You go down to Orr, there’s likely one or two of the temples that need taking. But in practice, because of Megaservers, there are too many people in the map. People are actually defending the temples. Which again, is fine in theory.
Until you get to traits. I have multiple grandmaster traits that require me to take a temple (or gates of Arah) to unlock. But people are defending (because there are actually plenty of people around), and so I can’t get my trait unlocked!
So just unlock it with gold and skill points, you might say. But there’s the kicker. 20 skill points per trait??? I never have extra skill points. Between making superior siege and saving up for my legendary, I keep myself very low.
I won’t say I don’t mind the whole “play other content” idea with the new trait unlocks. I don’t like it. But I could live with it if it wasn’t reliant on content which is not readily available.
My $0.02.
At this point I’d much rather have them allow me to stay in the terrace on log-in if the scroll is still in my inventory. Still a pain getting kicked out every time.
I never buy black lion weapons and rarely do the daily activity so I don’t mind the missing NPCs. Just glad they added a trait trainer. =)
Thanks for the sigil replies, everyone! Took my lockdown spec out for the first time tonight — it was pretty rough, have a lot to learn. But I’m excited, I love high skill-cap, it’s why I love mesmer so much!
What kind of sigils do you run with this spread? I struggle with sigil choice, because on the one hand, there are some awesome on-swap and on-crit sigils, but I feel like I’m missing out on a ton of damage if I don’t take a stacking on-kill sigil.
Just wondering if there was a consensus for lockdown mesmer sigils.
(Edit: Wondering specifically for WvW variants. I play much more WvW than sPvP, and recognize that on-kill stacking sigils are useless in sPvP)
(edited by basepi.9768)
Yes, you can teleport to it by double-clicking your pass in any PvE map (can’t do it from WvW, or in dungeons, or anything like that).
It does have a helmsman which will teleport you to any of the major city asuran gates.
The key is that it has all the crafting stations and other useful NPCs (bank, TP, etc) all in a very small area. Pure convenience item.
Meh, they added my trait resetter to the royal terrace, so I’m happy. =)
Just wanted to point out that there’s now a trait reset NPC in the Royal Terrace. Thank you, Devs, for listening to our requests on that! I haven’t been in the airship yet, but I expect there is a trait trainer there as well, and I’m glad that the devs remembered those of us who bought Royal Terrace Passes as well. =)
Yep. Seems to be unusable on the majority of the terrain in EotM :-(
Yeah, that drives me crazy. I don’t even understand how people manage to play in PvP with such reliability… It even looks like a bug-nerf – “Let’s brake it and not fix it because it’s too OP!” Same as Warden (and the fortunately fixed exploding illusions).
At this point I’ve played with it enough I usually know when I’m about to cast it whether I can reasonably expect it to reach its target in a timely manner. I tend to try to save it until I’m on fairly flat ground, but even then it will often bug out. Losing a kill because of this inconsistency is infinitely more frustrating than being outplayed.
+1 for all these
Sword #3 just kills me, it is so broken so as to be virtually unusable in pvp.
Not just PvP, either. The place where it makes me most angry when this doesn’t work is definitely PvP or WvW, but it also often fails in PvE (biggest time it frustrates me is when I try to root the final boss in the underground fractal so we can pour the lava on him).
It’s called Illusionary Leap. And it does not function like a leap. This is the most important mesmer bug to be fixed, in my opinion.
Interesting, so you can’t blast on the latter part of the field? That certainly seems like a bug in the field, then. Guess I’ll try to time it so that I blast in the first second or two of the field — I’ve been timing it such that it’s near the end of the field (our elementalist is only doing a quick “3-2-1” countdown, so I guess I need to start the skill right at the beginning of that count, see what happens).
Off topic, but why do mesmers only have a single blast skill, and a subpar one at that? Very difficult to time, I really wish they would move the blast to the beginning of the skill, or give us another blast skill of some kind. </whine>
I’ve noticed that recently The Prestige (torch 4) went from “sometimes blasting the field” to “never blasting the field”. I have not been able to get that skill to ever trigger a blast combo since the latest update. And yes, I know the blast is on re-appear. We call our static fields in advance to help mesmers time their blasts.
Couldn’t reproduce. Tested, blasted.
I guess I need to do more testing. The only time I even attempt to time my blast is blasting static fields before we move out in WvW. I have whoever’s leading the guild raid call out static fields with a countdown, so that I can start torch 4 before the field goes down (so as to have the blast while the field is still up). I tried on upwards of 30 fields that night, and not once did I get a group swiftness proc.
Perhaps it’s a bug that only shows up with so many blasts on a specific field. I’ll do more testing and report back.
Recently (in the last couple of weeks) I’ve noticed that The Prestige (torch skill 4) has not been blasting fields.
Previously, it was decidedly inconsistent: the blast would detonate while the field was still up and sometimes I would get group swiftness (in the case of static fields), sometimes not. But recently (perhaps since the last patch or two?) I have been unable to blast any field with that skill.
Yes, I know that the blast is on the re-appear part of that skill, and I time it as such.
(That’s a whole different issue, the fact that mesmer doesn’t have an immediate blast skill of any kind. But I digress)
Anyone else having this issue?
Also, I should note that this is a very comprehensive list (love it!), and that my number 1 desired fix is sword 3, with “give us a proper blast skill” coming as a close second.

I love WvW!
Things I love:
1) Random encounters with players of all skill levels and groups of all sizes. Never gets old
2) Variety of objectives — small groups can pull large zergs by taking camps and sentries and often even towers
3) Always something to do
4) I can make a difference — one or two people can defend a tower from a zerg with a couple of superior arrow carts (barring zoom hacking, but we’ll get to that)
I have a really hard time voicing exactly what’s so exciting about WvW, but I love it so much!
Things I would love to see in WvW:
1) Hacker reporting. Hackers have become much more prevalent recently and there’s no official way to report them. Along this same vein, some sort of aspect ratio limit would be awesome as well, so that zoom hacking could be taken care of. It’s a real bummer to siege up a tower only to have one zoom-hacking arrow cart take out everything inside.
2) Larger parties (squads don’t work very well). If you wanted to improve the squad UI that would be fine as well. I would love to have commander-targeting, but that might be overpowered so it’s optional. Commander tags visible only to guild would be amazing (and I think is in the works, from previous dev responses)
3) Tweak loot so that smaller groups or roaming is encouraged over zerging. Zerging is fine, and I don’t have a problem with it, but I would really like to be able to run around with a smaller group and still get a decent amount of world experience and loot. Perhaps make it so that loot scales such that if more people are involved, there’s less loot per bag, and in a 5-on-5 or 1-on-1 situation you get more loot/WXP? Maybe if a 5-man group takes a tower, you get double WXP and Karma? I know none of these are perfect solutions, but it would be nice to make it so zergs were not the fastest way to rank and get karma/loot.
4) WvW rewards to match PvE rewards. Currently, WvW rewards are pretty slim. We get bags, we get karma, we get badges. But all are in small amounts. Takes forever to get ascended mats playing WvW, especially dragonite. The gold rewards in WvW are very slim, and if you’re sieging or buying upgrades, you often will spend more than you make out there. Better rewards in WvW in general, and fewer rewards for zergs (3) would be awesome.
Thanks for such an awesome game mode! Keep up the great work!
Easy enough to make it a separate instance that explores past events (along the lines of fractals). Don’t have to break the story to make it permanent.
And I agree, most interesting/fun world boss fight yet, definitely should be permanent.
This.
It’s one of the biggest things GW2 is missing, is larger-scale content that’s tuned to a specific number of players. I want to be able to take 10 or 20 guildies and go kill something difficult and cool. Marionette is a really cool fight, but the fact that I can’t do it just with my guild is disappointing, randoms have too much power to make the event fail.
Right. What I was saying is that even if you were buying it for a convenience item (never be caught with no food in a WvW fight), the fact that it doesn’t cover your utility nourishment means it’s not even a good convenience item.
More RNG! Woot! </sarcasm>
Food extender might be worth it if it was extended to utility nourishment (oils/stones). As it is, it doesn’t save enough money, and you still have to watch your utility timer. (Gets rid of most of the convenience factor)
Yep, I bought 25 keys for the second time during the Christmas discount period. (Gift one, buy 25 for 40% off) Opened all of them for a few scraps, no tickets. Some other useful things, like transmutation crystals, but I can buy all that I need straight from the gem store for less than the cost of the keys.
I will never buy another key from the gem store. And I will constantly message to my friends that it’s not worth it. Doubt it will make a difference, but the only way to stop money-grabbing RNG bullcrap is to not buy into it.
Don’t forget trait reset!
+1. This and a trait reset NPC would make this place perfect.
Trait reset, +1!
This is a fantastic list.
My one addition would be a friend/guild announce chat channel separate from game messages. I never know when friends or guildies get online, because I have to disable game messages or my chat fills up with endless loot messages! How are loot messages and friend notifications still on the same channel???
Please stop kicking me out on login! Luckily, it kicks you out close enough that there’s no load screen to jump back in, but it’s still a step that shouldn’t be necessary.
That said, my biggest +1 would be for the trait trainer. Festival NPCs and others would be great, but trait trainer is the one thing that I use very regularly that is missing.
Account upgrade would also be great, but is complicated by the fact that some of us bought multiple copies of the pass for alts.
We can have our OWN hilariously ridiculous map chat! Life will be good….
This. +10. I would basically never leave this place if it just had a trainer. =D
Very pleased with my purchase except for the lack of a trainer.
I refuse to do it myself. “Other people are doing it” is not enough reason for me to play unfairly, IMO.
Just was wishing (obviously in vain) for a proper way to report it, or a line of sight nerf.
But while I’m at it, I guess I’ll keep wishing for ways to report siege griefing, proper rewards for defending and refreshing siege, and PvE-level rewards for WvW.
The biggest offender was when someone put an arrow cart flush against the bottom of the cliff north of Bravost. With that arrow cart, they destroyed all 8 arrow carts we had scattered throughout the tower. All the targets were at least two wall heights above the arrow cart in question, and it was hitting almost to the far (south) wall of Bravost. I don’t care how many monitors you have, I don’t think you can get that kind of coverage without a zoom-out hack. Maybe I’m wrong.
I’m sure some are doing it “legitimately” (air quotes!), but I also think some are doing it with an actual zoom-out hack.
I feel like maybe arrow carts need at least a partial line of sight nerf. It would definitely be a nerf overall, but when stuff like this can happen, why even build siege? One zoom-hacked arrow cart can clear a whole tower full of siege, while never being vulnerable to return fire.
Don’t mean to sound whiny, just frustrated that hours of building up superior siege can be obliterated in a minute by one exploiting player, and apparently I can’t even report them.
As usual, lack of a legitimate way to report zoom hackers is frustrating. >.<
Play fair, peeps.
What’s the best way to report a zoom hacker? The “report” dialog doesn’t have any applicable options — I’ve been reporting as “Scamming” for the time being.
I know we don’t want to name and shame in the forums. However, a legitimate way to report exploits such as this (with attached screenshots, etc) would be so helpful.
When you set up an arrow cart flush against the wall and then manage to hit my arrow cart on the other side of the wall in the middle of the tower, you’re definitely not playing fair.
I love centaur runes, particularly in combination with the MoRec heal. You will lose stats, unquestionably- but you will have perma-swiftness which I personally find vastly more important in WvW. 2,620×2 healing on a 10s cooldown isn’t bad, either, especially in PU builds where the main weakness of mantras (casting) is protected by high stealth uptime.
edit: do also consider switching staff for Sword/Pistol. The cripple, immobilize, and stun allow for decent chasing abilities. Staff, while incredible, is a more defensive weapon.
Yes, I plan to get a Sword/Pistol for to replace the Staff when I want to go more offensive. The tweaks for that build are here
I think based on what you guys are saying (and what I continue to read) I am going to go Centaur. Still gives me a decent power boost, and the 100% uptime group swiftness is great. I will still have to decide between Mirror and MoRec — not sure on that one. =\
Loving my newly-80 Mesmer. I suck right now, but I’m getting better, and generally love classes with a high skillcap.
I’m currently running a pretty run-of-the-mill condition build in WvW. (the osicat condition build, to be exact) I mostly play in small groups or roam, so this build is working out great for me so far.
However, I feel super slow. Wondering if most people run Traveler or Centaur runes and sacrifice much of the DPS from runes, or if you are just super patient with running slow? As it stands, I can never chase anyone, because almost everyone has a run speed buff of some sort. How do you cope? I hate to lose the ~180 condition damage and extra confusion application and duration from my perplexity runes…
(The only solution I’ve found so far is to switch out a focus for my torch when I’m running — problem here is that I often forget to switch back to the torch before I engage and lose out on the torch condition clearing and condition application)
I’m sure this topic has been visited before, but the search feature on these forums is pretty much worthless, so I created a new one.
Thanks for your input!

I’m just glad they retarget after stealth — was afraid stealth would fool them permanently or something.
Ah, great news! Thanks for the clarification. I’m happy that it’s all dependant on my skill (even though it will take work to perfect).
Deceptive Evasion was as I expected. But I rely on those to do damage when they’re overwritten, not with their attacks, so it’s fine.
I’m currently running a pretty classic condition mesmer for WvW(staff, scepter+torch, lots of invisibility, etc). I found myself playing against another mesmer, and struggled a little (still learning).
But it did prompt a question: when fighting against a mesmer, will your clones/phantasms tend to stay on the actual mesmer or will they be fooled by the enemy mesmer’s clones? Is my staff phantasm pretty worthless, in this case? I’m guessing they’re fooled, and in an MvM situation I have to rely on the conditions-on-kill from my illusions as well as my direct confusion application and so forth, but wanted to verify. (The fight was too frantic for me to pay attention to what my illusions were attacking)
Also, if the illusions are fooled by the enemy illusions, will they die when the illusions they are targeting die? Or will they actually switch since it’s still technically the same enemy? Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your help!

Could I get an update on #120975?
I haven’t heard anything in 3 days, and I’m missing out on all the BLTC black Friday deals!
I currently cannot purchase gems via credit card or Paypal, and I discovered yesterday that I cannot even redeem gem cards on my account!
Thanks in advance for your help.
The ticket was created on November 29, and last updated on that same day.
