thanks bobby! looking forward to being able to complete the PS on my warrior!
@Bobby – This was NOT fixed with HOT. It’s still bugged for me.
Minions are still lower damage in PvE than simply performing standardized rotations. I definitely expect that this will benefit PvE minionmancers substantially, but that doesn’t mean you suddenly start running one if you plan on moving through content quickly and efficiently.
They add a ton of survivability with the condi transfer and vamp procs, as well as a good deal of toughness when traited. Considering we haven’t seen anything but the easiest of raid bosses as well, there may be call for the extra help they might provide. Anyways, it’s too early to tell yet, of course, but it’s certainly something to be excited about.
This is super exciting! I’d like to see how a Vamp MM would do in high end raids/fractals with these changes.
As my guild wants to raid with each other, but each of us is at different levels of skill, it’s going to be very important for us to receive tools from Anet to review DPS and average healing, damage taken, etc during a raid for each user. It’s incredibly hard to determine who is struggling internally when we don’t have the basic tools to accomplish this. The raids are so fun, and looking forward to more!

Crystal RAID confirms ascended gear to be required for raiding – especially for the difficult wings.
Update: Please note that Isaiah Cartwright has posted on reddit that ascended is only recommended. The downfalls of releasing partial information across multiple platforms.

This event is the least fun I’ve ever had in a gw2 in-game event. To say this event was a let down would undervalue how disappointed I was after the event. I know Anet can do better and I look forward to the lessons the devs will learn from all this.
Can confirm this. Chain at the instance 64.25.38.238:0 has been stuck at the assault phase for the whole day. Presumed issue: Maybri Shadowstalker not present (died and despawned?), no quest objectives active.
Still bugged on this server. Can’t seem to get on another map.
This mission, like others and even generally throughout the game, bugs me with the fact that NPCs won’t help you when they really should. They’re supposed to be your comrades, but they stand there looking stupid. It would be less frustrating if you were alone. In other times, I found myself defeated on the ground with some NPC standing nearby picking his nose. “I’m right here! Res me!! I did it for you!!!”
I can only assume the NPCs are mostly jerks who revel in my anguish. The NPCs on the airship stay in the kittenpit (EDIT for kitten censor: control room where people steer the airship) during the first phase. They’ll help you if any creatures follow you inside, but they won’t venture on to the deck. This was by design due to some pretty specific technical conditions that are unique to this particular story step.
Makes sense, still creates a really lonely experience – especially when playing solo. This was supposed to be the big arc where Destiny’s Edge actually kills a dragon. Instead they all huddle inside and watch me do it by myself. :/ Zojja actually bugged at one point and stood next to me for part and watched as I bled out on the air ship next to the turrets during the final phase.
I’m completely unable to complete the Personal Story on one of my characters since the PS reboot. It simply won’t even let me activate the PS and I have no quest available. I’ve tried activated Season 2 and deactivating – nothing will make it work. I opened a ticket with Support and they told me there was nothing they could do and closed my ticket. Pretty disappointing.
I haven’t done PS in a while. My character has completed the “Forging the Pact” step. I stopped when I learned about the re-do months ago and went on to do Season 2.
Now, I have no button to re-start back on my personal story. I’ve completely quit out of Season 2, and still nothing. Any ideas?
Signet of Undeath: Signet Passive. Gain 1% Life Force whenever you use a skill while in combat. Signet Active. Strike nearby foes for very low damage. For 6 seconds, your Life Force will neither degenerate nor will it be reduced by damage. 60 second cooldown.
Bam. Active defense that uses shroud.
I like that idea, but should it also maybe force you into DS like Unholy Sanctuary so you don’t lose a second of the invuln?
It would be really nice to see dev insight on balance changes in the patch notes. I know some other online pvp games that do this, and think it would really help with transparency and can’t be too difficult to include.
Lots of threads on the Necro sub questioning the change to the Chilling Darkness trait. Would be nice to get some feedback from Anet on why this change was made, as it appears the community is shocked by the nerf.

The “don’t pre-purchase HoT” thread on Reddit is the highest up-voted post in the sub-reddit of all time now. People seem really upset, hope the community and Anet can figure this one out.
I really don’t like this, especially considering Damask is so expensive. I hope that arena-net looks at the cost of Ascended gear for light armor if they are going ahead with these buffs to ascended gear. It’s just unmanageable for me to afford even for my main necro, much less my alts.
Well, I hope we can at least get a dev to give some better details ^^. At least that will put everyone on the right track.
There’s a thread going on Reddit too, with the same questions. It’s just something we need more clarification on, I think. Just hoping a dev will see and get us all a good detailed explanation.
If they were going to do something to grandfather or refund, I expect they would have announced it by now. We had a long thread already with this concern, and it received no ArenaNet attention.
Oh, I couldn’t find it! Well, thanks for the update.
Fair speculation, and likely true. Just hoping for an official answer. Of course, the way to make sure they’ll give a refund or let us keep the traits is for me to go ahead and unlock all the skill challenges on my alts ahead of the change-over
Why? Anet has never been about giving you back gold for stuff you spent it on after changes. You spent it, you used the stuff you bought. You think people who spent all the time farming the traits are going to expect to get their time back too?
As far as the other stuff, You need 65 skill challenges + lvl 80 I think they said to unlock everything. So at least it won’t be too bad.
I suppose we disagree here on the gold refund. I think it would be in good spirit to not remove content we’ve previously unlocked just because the rules were changed. If they are going to remove functionality, the payment I used for it should be refunded as well. They are doing this with skill points to some degree, it’s not a huge step to question at least. I’m certainly not starting a barn-burning over it
And I’ll be dis-agreeing with 65 skill challenges not being bad. It’s terrible for people with many alts. Again, not something I’ll uninstall over, but certainly something that will keep me from making new characters. Skill points are just boring content to me.
I have nowhere near map completion on many of my level 80’s though. I PvP mainly and the last several of my alts were insta-80 with lvl 20 scrolls and the rest tomes of knowledge. I have over 10 level 80 characters and only 1 has map completion. That solution isn’t really good – especially since I’ve spent gold unlocking these traits already.
They said just by hitting 80 you’ll have enough to max out a good deal of the stuff. Keeping in mind pvp gives you everything anyway so unlocking them isn’t required for pvp.
For pve, well you’ll have enough to get a build going. If you want more for pve, you’ll have to pve.
Well – a solution needs to be put in for the gold I’ll have lost as a result of this change then. In any case, it would be nice to have an official detail of this transition beyond the blurbs they’ve already put out. I do agree that this is the reading I’ve gotten based off the available information.

Can we get a direct answer for alts that were leveled with Tomes of Knowledge that we spent gold and skill point scrolls to unlock traits for? Will I lose out on the gold I spent to unlock traits if I haven’t done a lot of skill point challenges on these alts?

It’s so nice seeing these theory crafting posts. Sounds like a cool idea.
I agree, Sinister GS sounds interesting.
Really excited. Thanks for the hard work, Dulfy.
If we go by the trait lines, dagger is situated in blood (our support line), so it is technically supposed to be a support weapon. It would be great if Anet made #2 on dagger heal allies via the Transfusion trait that currently only works in DS. This would go a long way with giving necros some team support.
mmmm “All channeled siphons heal nearby allies” I like that.
Yeah, I’m pretty cold on the idea myself. heh heh.
I love it! It’s cool, it’s necro, it’s scythe, it’s chills, it’s minion shout, mmmmm
We already have lich form as elite, being called lich would be redundant. I like it but I doubt it.
And we already have banshee’s wail. Doesn’t that mean banshee is out of the question too?
I hope so because it’s a silly name for a class.
I might be crazy, but I get a strong mordrem/plant vibe from the picture. The leafy green splotches on the side, the choice of outfit, the orange glow spots on a weapon that has a bit of a mordrem feel to it… Belinda’s fate and the idea that her sister is the creator of the specialization.

All of them can be considerered dragon hunters. Mostly the Vigil in regards in terms of direct confrontation with all dragons and their minions..
All of them came together with one goal: “defeating the elder dragons and their minions”, calling themselves The Pact. The biggest multiracial army modern tyria has ever seen. To protect their people and defeat the dragons.
So yeah. Why do we need a splinter faction again who has the same goal as the biggest army on the continent?
Maybe because The Pact failed, their fleet destroyed and this splinter group believes The Pact can no longer defeat the Elder Dragons or are taking too long to regroup & they have a chance and can do it better.
Or maybe their a group of Pact survivors that witness the fleets destruction and exterminating the Elder Dragons & their corruption has consumed their whole goal for life. Now calling themselves Dragonhunters.
Maybe. Who knows. This is something I would hope I could find out in game or from books. Only Arenanet has the answers.
Exactly! There’s a lot of room for “Dragon Hunter” to be an excellent addition to the game, and people seem to be ignoring those possibilities. It’s clear the name signifies a more radical/ruthless approach to dragon extermination. I’m hopeful it matches the dark tone that HoT seems to set.

I think DragonHunter makes a lot of sense. People seem to be looking at the name for this Specialization from the view of a player character. The argument, “We’re all dragon hunters, hunting Elder Dragons keeps coming up.” Of course the player characters are all hunting dragons, that’s what the game is about. The PC is always an exception to the rule.
In the lore of Tyria, however, the Dragon Hunters will be a splinter group of highly specialized Guardians that have seen the horrors the Dragons and their minions have wrought. This explains the NPC faction and the reason. Not all Mesmers are dedicated to fighting dragons, not all Chronomancers are either.
Dragon Hunters are. It fits perfectly in the lore.
That could be really cool, spoj. Have it as part of the animation, necro smack the ground, causing a slight tremor and a bone minion pops. Blast on the necro.
If a joke about characters running around like fighter planes is causing mental issues for you due to the recent plane crashes, please consider taking a break from online multiplayer. It’s clear you’re dealing with heavy trauma and should refrain from chaotic online experiences until you’ve spoken with a physician and are in a good place spiritually.
While people understand that you may be experiencing pain from this moment, know that this pain is irrational due to your mental state. This April Fool’s joke is not offensive.

I have been really looking forward to new dungeon content and this interview is a real mood killer. Anet – Please rethink!
Enough said,
Death Shroud = adrenalineIf warriors cannot carry their adrenaline to the next battle, then necros should not be able to carry their 100% full Death Shroud to the next battle. Their life force should decay as soon as they exit combat PERIOD.
Warriors also build adrenaline in a couple attacks while necromancers take half a fight to build it up IF they are dedicated to it. Also, the core of the warrior’s defenses are not completely dependent on Adrenaline.
Necros gain life force with most skills used, plus they also have traits that enhance life force while in combat. Their Death Shroud should not carry to the next battle PERIOD!
Haha. No they don’t unless they spec for it.
Yeah the two are only comparable by the fact they are both secondary resources. I suppose Thief Initiative should degen as well by this logic…
The drop rates on certain items appear to have been increased dramatically. I opened 40 and got windcatcher today as well. Previously had opened about 150 and got nothing…
I’m excited about trying this build. Will let you know!
I hope they found someone to voice Zojja on a regular basis so she can come back. ;n;
How do we report people who are abusing this exploit?
I’m feeling the lull, but hope it’s more of a “calm before the storm” moment. ^^
In the meantime, I’ve been finishing my achievements and gearing my alts to take on Mordremoth!
I think this break is also giving the wave of new players time to level and ready themselves for the next Living Story, and is giving our WvW population a chance to focus on the Tourney. Nothing wrong with either of those things.
Can’t wait for a new Dungeon though.
It was mistakenly giving out glory instead of rank points. They’ve likely disabled it to fix it. I’d just wait.
I was thinking a good compromise would be to allow the Legendary skin for the weapon accessible for copying but the aura and effects would not copy over.
In that instance, a person wielding a weapon that was transmuted with the skin of Incinerator would not have the fire arm or footsteps. I believe these auras are an important part of the lore and mystique of the legendary weapon and allowing them to be copied cheaply is a negative idea.
@Nemesis – Is Sigil of Demon Summoning still bugged? Do you still have to re-zone to lose the stacks and re-summon?
