8000 gems for 100usd isn’t a good deal at all as most of things you’ll able to buy in gems store are consumables (shame on 1 use armors skins for 800 gems each…) and useless WatchHowImSoCute things (I consider only expensions as mandatory, maybe boosters for some players).

You have better to just take what you need.

Yes, I feel like the prices are balanced, simply because there is nothing in there that I actually need, and I see it as supporting the game rather than getting cool stuff in most cases (I have bought all the instruments even though I am not very musical for one)

I understand that you want support the game and it’s something honorable. I have no issue in that, I would players like you in my game.

But I have more an economical view on it.
I would by 1 Booster each day for 1.8e if that Booster last longer cause 1.8e / hour is around 10% of what I win per hour while working.
I would by cosmetical stuff like the Flute and other, but 10e / each is a lot. I mean… this is the same price to rename you Character, even a total makeover kit cost less.

When you think like me the prices are not okay to spend money you try to check the Gold to Gems system and and it’s like taking high-kick in the face.

So I just play and spend no money in the game, but as you can see I’m asking to spend money.

that’s my issue. And you also didn’t read my topic… please stop awnser if you read 1 line on 2…

Why I would spend money in so expensive things ? Prices aren’t correctly balanced.
10 hours of EXP Booster is same price as 2 Characters Slots… 150 Kite Fortunes is 3 of them… also 1 full Aetherized Armor skin = 1 Flute… wth ?
And you see no issue ? You really feel that prices are balanced ?

YOU maybe don’t feel screwed by this but me yes. I was used to pay each month for playing MMO, in GW2 I don’t have to do it so I have 10-20e to spend each Month.
But for what ? For my 2 Monthly flutes … ? Come on…

Gems always cost the same with real money. Just be happy that there is a conversion from gold to gems…

Okay I think you didn’t really read the topic.

So I’ll go your way…

800 Gems = 10e

lolFlute = 10e
1 hour EXP Booster = 1.8e / hour = 43e / day
150 Kite Fortune = 30e
1 Character slot = 10e

You see no issue in the price balance ?
They sell 1 bread same price than 1 Car.

My issue isn’t only Gems rate but balance in prices [Gems <> Gold <> Euros].

I would buy 150 Kite Fortune for 5-10e. But it’s 30e so I bought nothing. I would spend 10-20e per Month in this game if only I could get something correct in exchange.

Hi,

some months ago the Gem rate was fair (1g for ~60 Gems) and I was buying Gems.

I left the game for 2 Months and now 1g = 28 Gems.

(watch pictures on buttom)

First look on Boosters… as you can see on the picture, if you want to use Experience Booster it will 5.3g per Hour.
5.3g / Hour for a EXP Boost, do you even realise this is the price of 2 exotics weapons on the TP ? For 5.3g I should have a 1 day booster, not a 1 hour.

Second look on Upgrades…
I feel the price here ok (even if they are a bit expensive). But if we watch better 1 bag expension slot = 3 Experiences Booster.
Where is the balance in prices ?

Last look on the real scam of the system… the “promotions” (make me laugh each time i read that).
So the Flute cost 28.5g… same price for an character slot expension… ? Probably same price for a full exotic gear ?

84s per Kite Fortune ? So if I want my 250 Fortune Scrap I should buy around 150 Kite Fortune ? What 85g? Lol… Okay I go buy my Catchers on the TP for 5g (fire and light) or 10g (wind).

ANet it’s time to stop scam ppls and balance your market.
I already made a topic on this long time ago you awnsered something like: “we don’t choice Gems rate, the system do it”. Stop tell to ppl tou started an engine you cannot control.

Come on, if I finish the race it mean I wasn’t so much afk….

It’s annoying that for 10 races I have 20-25minutes of game and 30-35 minutes of wait where I need to move my character every minutes or being kicked. For some ppls it’s nothings but when your game time is limited this is a lot.

Indeed it’s not gamebreaker it’s just an annoying thing.

Waiting is okay because I can do something else like surf on internet… the thing I’m not okay is you get kicked out very fast. Once you finish the race the kick timer should go over 4-5min so you don’t have to comeback into the game every minute to move a bit.

Cleric or soldier?

Hey,

atm I’m experimenting a mix of Cleric / Soldier.

I know lot of ppl don’t like Healing Power because it’s stacking bad with Guardian skills.

On my last “tanky” (well it’s more a hybrid) build I was on full Soldier and had 200 Healing Power. Now I’m up to 515 with full Cleric armors + Soldier trinkets + Knight weaps.

With Superior Sigil of Energy on each weapons + Vigorous Precision (trait) I have really a lot of dodges.

In battle I can do +10 dodges per minute, for the exemple I take 10/min.

Heal by Dodges:
10 * (129 + 200) = 3290 health regen per minute.
10 * (129 + 515) = 6440 health regen per minute.
6440 – 3290 = 3150 more health regen / minute

Heal by Regeneration:
130 + (0.125 * 200) = 155 / sec, so 9300 / min
130 + (0.125 * 515) = 194 / sec, so 11662 / min
11662 – 9300 = 2362 more health regen / min

It’s only paper math, in the fight, with virtue of resolve, the fact you have not 100% regeneration uptime, if you keep dodging, ect… you’ll able to self-health for around 4000-6000 more per minutes.

Atm I feel pretty good to have sacrifised ~2500 max Health for ~4000-6000 regen / min.

That only work on pve, on pvp you will get good player that will shredd your boons and healing, Vit > armor > healing.

This is for WvW. On sPvP I have no idea.

And btw atm Armor+Big Regen >>>> Vitality. But that is not the question.

Not saying HP is good or not. I just show, instead of choice a +250 VIT bonus, you can choice a better regen mostly on dodges (for wvw again, i know Selfless daring is nerf on sPvP). Atm I feel better stacking a bit of VIT + HP than only VIT.

Crit damage

Hi,

into WvW with lolglasscannon build I managed to do some Whirlol of 8-10k on low armor players (moslty on lowbies…).
With that setup my autoattack did between 3-4.5k on crits if my memory is good enough =)

I pushed all power/critdmg% for awesome dmg but I was one-shotted even by Moa :p

On non-mobs I think +12k is indeed unrealistic (or maybe in a perfect condition with 25 stacks of mights, full vulnerability on the foe, low armor, ect…)

best swiftness buff for world completion?

Try the omnomberry chocolate giving +40% boons duration.
Retreat + Save Yourself + shouts -20% + 20/30pts in Virtue.

You can also use runes of water/monk/pack (for +20% swiftness) for 100% SF uptime.

Without the runes just hand a staff to fill the few secs without swiftness.

here my last build with an extremly dynamic gameplay. This build is a counter for all ppls saying that the Guardians are slow.
This build is adaptable to 1vs1/small/medium/large scale just by switching weaps and some traits.

Question about P/V/T Set for WvW

Just to be clear, I’m definitively not agree at all with Fomby (especially when you speak of cleric set o_O, no offense thought ^^) but I’m right with Amins and DeathPanel.

Im used to run a mix of Knight / Zerk.
But last month I tried a PVT setup.

It’s working really great for survavibility. The VIT boost is small but really lovely if you have high regen.
But, I left this set because of my damages. With PVT set I feel sacrifice 2 damages to get 1 defense. So I decided to use it only in large scale playing (guild run, zerg run, ect…). But on medium/small scale immo the best to survive is to kill your opponent that’s why I love more Knight/Zerk because the balance is better..

My opinion, PVT is good but overrated, their is better setup.

Not, my opinion, just info.

Just to be clear, Omnomberry Ghost/Pie wasn’t only regenerating you of 330 Health but also doing 330 damages to the opponent making a gap of 660 Health between you and him.
If you have an attack critting for 2k, you add 330, it’s a 16.5% boost to you crits damages. For a 6k crit it was still a 5.5% boost.
Was allowing some classes to keep high DPS while speccing defense.

An other exemple. You have regen boon on you, healing you for 150 Health/sec. On a single target if you manage to crit him every 2s, so it’s a boost of 110% to your regen (the condition is to keep attacking ofc). If you crit every 5s, it’s still a boost of 44%.

This food was really efficient for some classes/specs. But this food nerf is pretty much about AoE or Attacks doing multiples damages.

GS + Sword/Focus build w/ JI.

3 Teleports
3 Blinds
1 Pull.

If you can’t stay in Melee distance w/ these, you need to re-evaluate your playstyle…. maybe watch some video’s.

The ONLY time you will have a problem is w/ Hunters….. freaking HUNTERS!!! lol

Now, if you’re trying to chase someone who’s running away. That’s a different story, they’re “running away” and not fighting.

But if they’re staying within 1200 range. No Issue….

If you swap out Scepter – you get ranged + imobil

If you swap out Hammer -> Sword/Focus – you get imobil + warding + MB

If you swap out Mace -> uh… you’re support, /assist your friend.

If it’s still an issue with you: Sigil for chill.

If it’s still an issue for you: Food that grants chilling

If it’s still an issue for you… watch more video’s.

This is the best awnser.

Guardian don’t need cripples, we will overpowered with it.

Indeed Torch is nice Damage 1vs1, maybe 1vs2.

But you’ll realise how you’ll better with a shield or a focus in most situation (in WvW). In small scale situation I do really better with a focus. Not saying Torch isn’t good, just saying you can match more situations with focus/shield.

High Damage is not so useful when you’re dead.

How to Fix zerging in WvWvW

Reduce run speed based on how many people are nearby. So, if you “zerg” with 30+ people, you are essentially doing the walk animation. You are no longer a group, you are an army. And, in an era with trebs and cats, armies walked…slowly.

Small groups can still hit and run. Well, maybe not run, but jog…I mean, you should at least wait for your friends.

I like this idea a lot.

Culling not Fixed

Since the last patch I have heavy culling issue.

Before I had culling only when we were fighting massive number on the map. Now I have culling even on smaller scale, so always.
An other wierd exemple is when I’m on our wvw base, (sometime) allies players load when I’m 600ft to them, then they unload when I go away. That shouldn’t happen for a couple of ppls.

It was really more confortable before the patch. Maybe it fixed the issue of low connections/setup players…

Culling was personnaly a minor issue, now it’s a big one.

It’s the WoW player logic:
Die -> forums -> cry for nerfs
instead of
Die -> L2P -> win

Unfortunally it’s not always a L2P issue, if 2 gladiators fights, 1 with no weapons against 1 with an awesome pistol, the one with no weaps have few chances to win. If you want balance the fight you’ll nerf the guy with the pistol or buff the guy with no weap.

I also think if some ppls crying for nerf, on the other side some ppls crying for no nerf… and if someone cry for no nerf, an other will cry for a nerf… so what, are we all crying ? nerd war ? It’s not about a WoW logic or something else, it’s just human logic: ppls reporting their feeling.

To me the both side (for nerf and against nerf) have good reasons to complaint.

It goes..

1. get killed by a thief
2. alt + f4
3. whine on forums.

I’m not asking a Thief nerf, but you shouldn’t post this when your class allow you to:
lost -> stealth -> run out of combat -> health regen -> come back -> repeat
If I follow your unfair idea I could write:
1. try to kill someone
2. fail, stealth and run away
3. try to find a less skilled player
If ppls are mad whiners, some others are mangy sheep killers.

I don’t think a nerf on Thief is good, a rework would be.

Permanent Swiftness

Go for 20% or 30% boon duration in your trait, use Rune of the Water boon bonus duration to get around ~35-40%. You can add +20% swiftness with an other rune to go +55-60%.
Take the trait to reduce shoots cooldown of 20%.

Then you can use the rotation “Save Yourself !” + “Retreat !” for ~perma swiftness. It’s really less annoying than the staff method.

Fat Heavy Ninja (WvWvW build + vid)

Way of fight:

1. Mobility

All the build work around the high mobility with the blinks and the leap.
You have 3 mains mobility skills: [Flashing Blade], [Judge’s Intervention] and [Leap of the Faith]. With [Retreat !] and [Save Yourself !] you can keep Swiftness on you. [Sav Yourself !] is also your Stun Breaker.
With the trait [Absolute Resolve] your [Virtue of Resolve] cure 3 conditions, it’s very nice to use it when you are snare or root to keep your mobility up.
Abuse of your dodges. Usualy without any endurence regen you can dodge 6 times per minute. With the 2 Sigils of Energy you can go for 12t/min. And with Vigorous Precision you can even recharge more pushing you to ~18 dodges / min when while attacking foes. Any dodge will AoE heal of ~395 health on this build.

2. Main buffs

Your main buffs are Swiftness, Protection, Regeneration & Retaliation.
On this build you have +40% protection duration, which is very good. It’s 14sec from [Save Yourself !], 5 1/2sec from [Virtue of Courage], and 5 1/2sec from your Rune of the Earth proc. With [Renewed Focus] you can renew your [Virtue of Courage] for 5 1/2 extra seconds.
You can easily keep +20sec of Protection on the fight entering then stay under Protection ~50% of the time.
Because you have a low Health pool with this build you need to keep your regeneration up. Your regen tools are 4 1/2 sec with [Virtue of Resolve], 12sec with [Save Yourself !] and 4sec with [Ray of Judgement]. Your health regen is a counter for low damages you taking. [Virtue of Resolve] heal you ~130HP/secn you regen boon ~150HP/sec, so you can have ~300HP/sec and while dodging it’s even more (~400HP/dodge).
It’s always good to use a regen skill before using [Shelter] or [Renewed Focus], it’s giving you 2/3 extra seconds of regen while blocking.
Don’t mind of Retaliation because the buff will pop along the other buffs.

3. Block the bursts !

This build have a lot of blocks to avoid bursts. You bests tools to blocks are [Shelter], [Renewed Focus] (not really block but still invulnerable), [Shield of Wrath] and [Virtue of Courage].
[Shelter] + [Renewed Focus] = virtually unkillable for 5sec (or 7sec if you decide to take [Elite Focus] instead of [AR].
[Shield of Wrath] + [Virtue of Courage] + [Retreat !] = 5 blocks.
Exemple of chain to escape heavy burts: [Shelter] (heal + blocks) -> [Virtue of Couage] (protection + block] -> [Renewed Focus] (unkillable + virtues recharge) -> [Shield of Wrath] (3 blocks) -> [Virtue of Courage] (protection + block) -> [Retreat !] (1 block)
This chain is keeping Protection and other boons on you with 5sec of invulnerability and ~6 blocks.

4. Ninja escape

While targetting a mob or a player you can do a great escape.
[Flashing Blade] = 600ft insta teleport
[Judge’s Intervention] = 1200ft insta teleport
[Leap of Fait] = 600ft jump (reduced to 300ft if snare or 0ft if root, always cleanse you with [Virtue of Resolve] if need)
So if you chain the 3 skills here you can almost insta teleport you to 2400ft, there is no class who can catch you from a so heavy teleport (or an other Fat Heavy Ninja maybe ? ^^).

5. Switching for large scale

The build is very versatile, if you switch the traits: [Meditation Mastery] for [Purity] and [Vengeful] for [Master of Consecrations] then you switch you [Judge’s Intervention] for [Wall of Reflection]… you’re ready for large scale ! This is only an exemple.

I hope you’ll enjoy trying this build ! I’m waiting for you feedback, advices, questions, ect… (and if someone can fix all my typo :P).

Showing in this thread a very funny build for WvWvW.
It’s a build who suit very well with my gameplay so you will need to adapt it to your own gameplay !

I really trust the key of tanking in this game is mobility + avoidance. So this build focus on mobility (swiftness / insta-teleports / conditions removal), avoidance (blocks / invulnerability / dodges) and DPS.

The Fat Heavy Ninja is very good for small/medimum scale fights, especially when you’re outnumbered. With your tanking power you can run and dance in ennemy backline, take aggro during your friends are killing stuff. The Burned Heads will like play the Fat Heavy Ninja

/!\ Be aware this build wont work in sPvP, it’s only for WvW.

Build details:

GEAR / WEAPONS TYPE

Berserker + Knight Mix in gear, jewels and weapons.
Try to balance high armor with good DPS. Get around 3k armor then go for crits damages.

TRAITS
0/0/30/20/20 – Mediation Master, Retributive Armor, Altrustic Heal, Superior Aria, Empowering Might, Vengeful, Absolute Resolution
This build focus more on condition removal because of AR.

0/0/30/30/10 – Mediation Master, Retributive Armor, Altrustic Heal, Superior Aria, Empowering Might, Vengeful, Two Hander Mastery
This build focus more on offense with 2hM.

My advice is the first build, AR can remove easily your snares and roots.

SKILLS / WEAPONS

Greatsword / Sword + Focus
Shelter / Save Yourself ! / Retreat ! / Judge’s Intervention / Renewed Focus

BUFFS

To deal 1vs1 against Thief I stay very aggressive, if the guy see you can kill him or if he is scared for his life he will just flee. If the guy see he can kill you he will stick.

Guanglai Kangyi advices are nice.

any1 hand sword builds that do decent damage?

So my problem is i find 1 hand sword, lacking in everything i know its supposed to be for control but it sounds good on paper but in application its… meh i mean i love 1 hand swords and shields, now im willing to risk losing the shield for a build but all the builds that i like seem to gravitate to greatsword, (im a wvw>pve/pvp, meaning wvw is my focus and pve pvp are equal grounds)

I wanna be a tanking damage dealer with a hint of added support, which i know i can do, one of the reason i decided to get rid of my warrrior /thief main that i put so much time into because i like being in the frontlines using melee in wvw zergs (epic)

So tankiness IS wanted, just not specced full tank, ide really like to use sword/shield and then either sceptor or probably staff for that xtra support.

Hello here,

I’m playing only Guardian and a lot of WvW. Reading youn it’s also your focus.

The Sword + Shield/Focus is good in WvW but it’s more a tool for me. The DPS is nice only on single target.
Your tools to tank with Sword are the blind and the projectile blocks on 3, with the focus you gain survavibility. I do small scale a lot and Sword+Focus is on my set 90% of the time.

I recommand you to not stacking traits in Radiance because the crit you’ll gain will not help so much in most situations.

You can do DPS while speccing tanky, but you cannot be tanky while speccing DPS.

In WvW, your second set need to have AoE damage like the Greatsword or Hammer. It depend of your gameplay, I always run GS but I take Hammer when we need funnel or on kitten heavy fights. I will meet more fights with multiple opponent than 1vs1, you want DPS, you need AoE and AoE controls.

Now you want be tanky ? You need some tricky combos:
– equip 1 superior sigil of energy per weapon set and take the trait “Vigorous Precision”, this way you’ll regen endurence as hell allowing you to dodge a lot Normal regen is 6 dodges/min, while keeping swaping weapon set you can go to 12 dodges/min, and with the trait you can easily up to 18 dodges/mins when you keep hitting. Dodge = 0 dmg it’s better than 4k of toughness.
– stack things that block (focus / shelter / renewal focus). blocks also = 0 dmg, it’s a way to counter any burst.
– 6 rune of the earth helping stacking protection and give you 5s on projectile immunity on emergency. I personnaly using “Save Yourself !” + my Virtue + Rune of Earth proc and that keep me under protection a lot (-33% reduc dmg).
– stack health regen as counter for low damages (the combo AH + EM can heal a lot)
– stack condition removal
– ~3k armor help a lot.

But keep in mind you’ll never really tank because there is no really class able to tank in the game, all is about mobility. There is only class who can decay the death :p

2nd time in 2 days I meet a guy like this.

What happen if 1 or 2 in a zerg do it ? Noone will notice them but it will give to the zerg/grp a huge advantage.

In all PvP games I saw and played, healing was just destroying the game because skilled/organised peoples learn to make unkillable teams with them.

The Time To Kill is atm good enough and everybody is killable so it’s good without pure healing.

You can’t nerf the stealth of a Thief more than it is now or else you destroy the entire mechanic of the class.

It’s not a nerf Thief need but a balance in the mecanic. How can a Thief keep invis more than 10s ? You fight invisible guys 95% of the fight time.

Stealth shouldn’t exceed 5s.

And for the warrior’s 100b, just dodge, really not hard.

Do you need to be the Flavor of the Month (FOTM) build to have fun? If so, you’ll always be scared of the nerf bat.

Honestly, find a class that has a playstyle you like and work your way to perfecting it.

Haha I love the QQ on thief forum. I actually loled when I tried out dancing dagger. Asked a mesmer on the opposite team in tourns to be a test dummy (glasscannon). 1.7k crit fantastic. Time to reroll guys or play with skill.

I think Thiefs abused of it, it was indeed an imba skill (my opinion ofc), but I can only agree the nerf is a bit to huge.

EDIT: NVM I take what I said back. Amins pointed out Orb of Light isn’t the scepter auto. GG. >_>;

Well, it’s a nerf again to me when you look all the other class buffs (except maybe the thief nerf).
All classes got bug fix, not us and we still have unusable trait.

I need to try Selfless Daring in WvW cause the patchnote isn’t clear.

You really should check the other class forums before you say stuff like this, because as someone who has 7 characters, one of them being a Guardian…..ALL of my classes got nerfed or only minor bug fixes at most. None of them got anything even resembling a buff.

I admit I was to fast writing that. We got major buff on range weapon atm which is cool (even if I don’t use range weap most of the time, staff on mass scale).
I readed more carefully the patchnote about other classes and played a lot tonight on WvW and I feel really more powerful than before against some classes.

Scepter buff is nice because the orbs velocity was stupidly low. The selfless daring nerf in spvp is okay for me, with 2 sigil of energy + the vigor on crit it was unbalanced making this almost mandatory. Now in WvW, after the elem healing nerf, we are probably the best healing class is we aim for this.

I’m agree with the post upper, I feel a nerf on us on next patch.

Tried Selfless Daring on WvW and still work as before.

Tried also Orb of light and indeed the skill is now really cool.

Empower is not bugged, it show 7sec but the cast time is ~3s and the tick reset until the end of the cast, so it’s 10s.

I’m curious to know if it nerfed the WvW altruistic healing build also? ie. empower and virtues could apply to 20+ allies and thus heal yourself for tons.

It’s not nerfed because AH has (if I’m not wrong) already a limitation up to 5 players (else we would be absolutely invincible in wvw, imagine with 20 players around you each hit you gain 1.5k heal ?).

Hi !

I’m playing a lot in WvWvW and the number of players who rage quit (logout) on downed state is increasing a lot.

When you logout you insta disappear from the game.

It’s very unfair for the players who won the fight.

Today it’s only some solo players doing this, but tomorrow small groups ?

My suggestion is a timer on logout (10 seconds or so).

Please keep this topic up if you’re agree with that.

Hey I’m from AG !

What I know is Drakkar made us upset and lots of commanders decided to focus on you to down your score. We have actually few focus on UW because they moslty sticking there own map so they aren’t really dangerous on other battlefields.

From my PoV I saw and participate into epic fights between DL vs UW (it was like a 3vWvW :p). So GG and keep fighting but UW guys you really should try to leave a bit your map (it will even more rewarding for you), I know AG map is hard atm but you can manage stuff in DL (and you did it tonight by taking some keeps).

If you don’t want to read all the bla-bla and go straight to see how 3-4 players killed around 20-30 guys just go to the 2nd video at 2:00.

Me (Clockwizz) and a friend (Phantasmal Crafter) discovered a new in-game sport: the Nuub-Pull. The game is to pull a maximum of players in our own camp. Yes, on the paper it’s not so impressive but in-game it’s extremly fun when you pull dozen of players :p

We discovered this game on the first video, it was a good pull but was not enough. So we tried with more on the second video !

The challenge is on, try to do better :p

This guy have common stat for me, if you can’t reach good stat as him it’s maybe because you’re build is stat broken.
