Finally beat it after like 10+ times of wiping out. We tried a multitude of strategies but all of them failed but one. In the end, I was on full support duty (level 80 Guardian) for Grast. It wasn’t really support for my team, it was mainly just for Grast, lol.
-Healing: Used staff to heal Grast (both 2 and 4 skill), and the Healing Breeze to heal him as well, and “Save Yourselves” for the regen + team support
-Stability: Hallowed Ground utility skill, “Stand your Ground” shout before the rocks fall.
Even with this build, it took a couple of tries. My other teammates were mostly just doing damage.
We barely won with only 2 people remaining at the end.

Although we still beat the boss, I think there needs to be changes to Grast. I believe the boss mechanics are fine as long as Grast is reasonably reliable.
Suggestions:
1. Grast doesn’t go Leeroy Jenkins towards the CR as soon as he is revived. It was quite annoying that after every time we wiped, he started at 50% health as opposed to 100%.
2. Giving Grast only one move. The protection shield. Too many times is he “charging” up his normal attack right before Rocks fall, giving him no time to put the shield up. CR seems to have less health anyways, so extra damage from Grast is unnecessary. Either get rid of his normal attacks or give him a faster attack that doesn’t “charge.”

So, if you have a really trash idea, an idea that you think is the greatest ever, but subconsiouly know is probably not great, you can make so no one can respond. Then your trash idea disappears in the blink of an eye because so many new threads are posted so often that without the bump of responses who can keep up?

While in the current system if your amazing idea is extra special trash, and you’re still willing to defend it, your idea can stay on the first page for ages because of all the bumps of people responding with criticism.

I’m honestly no sure if that is endorsement or criticism, but I will say I don’t like this idea and think it should not happen.

Why must we have a caste system in WvW? Commanders are being treated like gods in WvW simply because of their tag.

One of the many goals of WvW should be to allow a few average players to work together to accomplish something; whether it be defending, attacking, upgrading, or whatever. However, the trend seems to be that most new players and many of the old players are reluctant to commit to anything without a commander telling them what to do. This is a bad idea for many reasons, but primarily because it diminishes the enjoyment of the average player.

We all come from different backgrounds and we all choose to play this game in our own way. Admittedly, some people like to lead and some people like to follow, but that choice should never be forced on anyone. Commanders are currently a status symbol in the game that allows them to spam team/map chat and give orders without opposition. These actions often drown out the average player. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone tell an average player to stop using team chat so the commander can speak, it’s insulting and disrespectful. We both paid our 60 dollars for this game and we both have a right to play.

The bottom line is that commanders should not be in the game in their current form. The original goal of ArenaNet may have been for commanders to be a mobile rally point and a squad creator but what has been implemented is nothing close to that. Only a few commanders actually take the time to form squads and instead spam team chat, and the function of the rally point has simply been reduced to the barbaric rhetoric “EVERYONE ON MY TAG NOW!!”.

We are tired of being reduced to a pawn in a child’s toy army. ArenaNet, I beg you to address this and give us a system that treats everyone as equals.

Few idea’s I feel are very much needed:

1) Guild halls. Self explanatory, a place for the guild to hang out.
2) Guild arena. Simple again, a place where you can setup duels within your own guild, and dictate the numbers. 1v1, 2v2, 10v10 and so on.
3) Guilds having the ability to see the last time someone was online/representing the guild.
4) Guild commanders. A commander icon only guild members can see.
5) Guild logo’s with more customization.

That’s just a few idea’s that IMO are sorely needed in this game.

Missing the two important hints.

Mesmer Feedback on last boss not only prevents knockdown but does a 30k burst of dps.

Most importantly, the one thing that reduces more time then anything… how to grab Ferrah by keeping one person in the video until you talk to her allows you to bring her to the door at max run speed which also causes Magg to spawn on you. You shave off ~20 seconds by doing this or almost 30 seconds using memser portals instead of waiting for them to slowly walk up.

Reforging Orr with WvW mechanics.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Shriketalon.1937

Shriketalon.1937

Note: this is a tad long. For the TL:DR, consult the uploaded infographics designed for your convenience.

Orr has problems. Between the past horde of bots mindlessly shuffling about slaying mindless shufflers, the severe annoyance of trying to walk any distance without every necrotic abomination within three leagues trying to chew your ankles off, and the absurd competition between players over getting loot tags, there’s nothing remotely resembling a proper war on the entire continent. Orr is lifeless, and despite the poetic irony, that isn’t particularly fitting for this game. I would thus like to discuss a way to add the spark of life to this husk of a continent, and reanimate it into the spectacular warzone it deserves to be.

Fortunately, all the mechanics already exist in WvW. All Orr needs is a little bit of loving from the mechanisms used in WvW design: destructible fortifications, spontaneous and sustained events, and flexibile AI. Reforging Orr with these systems will allow it to become something unique, a Player Versus Environment persistent warzone. This will require a few basic principles.

All Orrian zones should be level 80. All of them should be proactive, player-driven attack/defend warzones. All of them will require time, coordination, and teamwork to accomplish anything significant, although some content for the lone player will still exist in the form of out-of-the-way delves. The majority of Orr should be essentially empty (none of this undead-every-five-feet tediousness), allowing players to move freely, but the battlezones themselves should be up to our ears in undead foes fighting masses of players, along with all manner of siege equipment for both sides. It will also have world bosses and a way to escalate conflict to break stalemates, thus ensuring that the content should remain fresh. With these principles, Orr can become a truly unique zone, unlike any other area in the game.

This will require four things: revising the map, rethinking siege events, reworking player-led assaults, and redistributing the loot.

The Map

Orr is actually well structured and lovingly rendered, when you aren’t being knawed upon every five feet and have the time to enjoy the view. With a handful of tweaks, the maps can become an excellent warzone. The primary change will be turning current camps and structures into destructible terrain. Rather than have camps with functional gates that get “captured” by undead just shuffling in, these zones can be redone so that the walls and gates can be destroyed, just like in WvW. This will allow the undead to actually lay siege to certain areas.

In turn, the undead controlled areas can get structures of their own. Bone walls and guard towers are already in the game, and it wouldn’t be difficult to allow the undead to claim terrain via their insidious architecture. The goal here is to take existing features of the map (pact bases, major trouble spots, and the temples) and turn them into WvW style objectives. For your convenience, I’ve cobbled together a set of map examples. They’re a tad crude, but hopefully they convey the overall idea.

The Straits of Devastation forms a very simple, intuitive map. Each of the three landings presents a clear chain of conquest, with each area being contested like a MOBA lane. Malchor’s Leap will be a little stranger due to its structure, but should form a decent attack/defend setup. Players must defend the eastern sections in order to launch attacks across the canyon and seize the two temples. Finally, Cursed Shore will form a decent twin pairing, with the north and eastern side of the map independent from the south and west.

Learn better communication skills and use them. The mechanics of the fractals are not that difficult to grasp… but the mechanics of teamplay seems to be far out of the realm of many players capabilities… and those failings mostly revolve in the arena of poor communication and worse execution.

GW2 needs Bacon

As there are pig / boar types of animals, I don’t see why we can’t have pork products in the Chef crafting discipline. There are Slabs of Red Meat and Slabs of Poultry Meat, so why not Slabs of Pork Meat?

Examples:
(1) Slab of Pork Meat + (3) Packets of Salt = (1) Slab of Bacon.
(1) Slab of Bacon + (1) Slab of Red Meat + (1) Loaf of Bread + (1) Cheese Wedge = (2) Bacon Cheeseburgers.
(1) Slab of Bacon + (1) Head of Lettuce + (1) Tomato + (1) Loaf of bread = (2) BLT Sandwiches.

I’m sure people could come up with other recipes up to 400 (Bacon Wrapped Steak?). By now you’re wondering why GW2 needs bacon – what would be the point? Someone is probably reading this and thinking to themselves, you need another reason to add bacon? Yes, let’s play Devil’s Advocate for a second – what effect would bacon based consumables bestow?

Agony Resistance.

Seems kind a obvious when you think about it. What other food product could be added that would be the opposite of Agony?

Server Transfer Queue System

in Suggestions

Here’s a slight suggestion to answer one of Gaile’s questions:

When you want to transfer to a full sever, inform the player that their transfer will not be immediate and they will be placed in a queue. When they’re in the queue the ‘transfer’ button in the WT screen becomes a “leave queue” button and to the left or right of the button (or on the button) state how many people are in front of you.

If you’re online and playing in game, have an alert pop up whenever there are 5, 4, 3, 2 then 1 person in front of you in the queue.

When it’s your turn to go, you get a 1 hour grace period to delay the transfer in order for you to be able to finish whatever you’re doing. Just simply open a prompt like the leaving the overflow server prompt with the options: “Log out and transfer”, “Leave queue for transfer” and “Minimize window to top of screen”

During the 1hr period, just have an extra icon appear at the top of the screen that glows (maybe an arrow or something) to re-open the prompt to transfer as well as a giant red or green arrow that points at the new icon for a couple seconds to let you know it’s there.

However, if you’re offline then when it’s your turn, you automatically get transferred to the new server.

To deal with the unwillingness of wanting to transfer at that moment, clearly warn the player that once they’ve entered the queue that they should be ready to transfer and that if they’re offline when it’s their turn, they will be transferred automatically.

Also, one last point to deal with the gems: treat the gem wallet like a credit card account: only allow the person to queue for a server transfer if they have the required amount of gems (at the time of queuing for the transfer) required to transfer to the said server. However, don’t actually remove the gems from the account until the transfer is complete. That way if someone leaves the queue or forfeits their position they don’t lose gems and nothing has to be refunded, but if their account drops under the gems required to transfer, they drop out of the queue.

EDIT:
I think one of the main concerns with everyone is the lack of time that free transfers will be available. On a personal level I transferred to a German speaking server to practice my German speaking abilities thinking that it would still be a while before guesting came about. However, now that the announcement of guesting and the removal of free transfers came out most of the US servers are either completely full or have a very high population (at the time of writing only 3 servers have a population of “high”).

For this I have a suggestion as well: Allow one free transfer per account per year (or 6 months or some specified time period; even simply allowing all existing accounts one free transfer period would be good) after the introduction of guesting. It would calm down some of the “I MUST get to the server I want to be on by the 28th!” rush, as well as allow players to play instead of constantly opening and closing the client or world selection menu to try to transfer and enjoy their playtime.

TL;DR: Give 1 hr grace period for transfers if you’re in game. Alternative option – give all existing accounts one free server transfer after guesting is introduced to slow the server transfer rush.

Only problem is that team chat disappears once you leave the team, no matter what the reason. Typically, people don’t have real reason to save the chat logs until after they are booted and can no longer see them.

Badges should not be given out from the JP- they should be earned.

You should get a badge for each completed event in wvw as well as randomly from kills that you contribute to, so say one badge for each successful gold defence as well as one for each successful gold attack, so encouraging people to help defend as well as attack. At the moment there is not enough incentive to defend things which results in karma trains of commanders and zergs going around endlessly recapping and then running off.

How about X number of badges for every 100 supplies used to repair (not to build siege though, that could be abused badly), X number for every 100 bessies escorted, etc – could easily be tied in o the current tiers for wvw achievements.

Make badges a part of the reward for participating in wvw and remove them from JP- or better yet remove JP from wvw entirely.

Imagine bringing back Underworld and Fissure of Woe from Guild Wars 1, but not as dungeons but as true zones. Elite hardcore zones made for exploration and high level farming. Where most mobs are veteran level status. Where dynamic events reveal chests like in GW1 for the rarest crafting materials in the game.

Ideally it would be nice to see all realms of the 6 gods, but these 2 zones have a lot of history and nostalgia behind them.

In other words a zone like Mad King’s Labyrinth? Of course harder and more complex, but it should be doable. Of course having it as a “public” zone without restrictions would cause a lot of issues, lag most notably, but if they limited the amount of players and create overflows for it just like what happened in Mad King’s Labyrinth it could work as a mix between open world and dungeon

Today i was doing WvW again, because i only need more Badges and some Skillpoints to finally craft my Legendary.
At the beginning i thought, i’ll only do WvW and Dailys to get my Karma and Badges.
I was right with the Karma, and now, i got even about 300k Karma left but i haven’t got my 500 Badges.

After 3 Hours today, i got 5 (!!!) more Badges, i got kill credit for at least 73 people (could be more if i overlooked some numbers) and from those, i finished 27 (QZ on Pet swap is great for that, lol)

I know i wouldn’t get them thrown at me, but really? only 5 Badges?
I didn’t count how many i got from real players, but i’m sure at least 2 are from Lords.

If we can’t get a higher drop rate on them, why not at least guranteed badges for finishing enemys?
I can understand if someone would say “You did just a little scratch on that enemy, you don’t deserve a badge of honor”
But at least for finishing we should get one (maybe even 2 with a chance of 33% or so)

I know that there are a lot of people who don’t really care about them and who just do WvW for fun. Sometimes it is fun for me too, but still i wish i’d get some more for all the time i’m there.

And just to clarify, no, i’m not complaining because i don’t have my Legendary yet, i never wanted it as fast as possible but i feel like i’m not really rewarded for spending that long time and killing that much enemys

I don’t attract, I don’t repel. That’s kinda odd

Everyone talks about the end content and even if A-Net has stated that the whole game is an end game, there are people asking for things that only high levels can enjoy without limiting this to dungeons, farming or leveling alts

My idea is this:

There are a LOT of NPCs in the game all around Tyria, both in explorable and in cities which are just “fill up” things

How about transforming 40 % of them in “traditional quest givers” ?

These NPCs will have a mark over their head similar to a “round chat bubble” meaning that “this NPC has something to say”
These “chat bubbles” will be seen ONLY by level 80 characters (one possible condition could be the storyline end completed?!)

The quests given by these NPCs will send the players in different parts of the world, some closer, some far but NEVER inside dungeons, only in explorable.

To expand this idea, some of the quests could be repeatable daily, others can be one time quests and others can have multiple levels.
Getting rewards from these quests will depend on the quest mechanic:
- If the quest requires to collect some things, this means the player needs to return to the NPC.,
- If the quest requires to kill a certain foe the reward can come from mail, but if the NPC needs something in return from it, then the player needs to return
etc.

You can only see it from the inventory panel.

True, you can simply push the “I” key to bring up your inventory… but there is more than enough space (to simply tack on how much gold you are carrying currently) to add it in somewhere.

The bank interface opens a pseudo inventory panel anyway…. so why not add the money carried to said panel?

Also, a deposit all/deposit max button would be really nice!

Color blind gamer: Issues seeing red circles

in Suggestions

Posted by: TimeBomb.3427

TimeBomb.3427

Hi. I’d like to have a discussion in regards to the issue of red circles, the ones made on the ground by enemies right before an AoE hits, and the issues that I, and surely others, have due to being color blind.

If I recall correctly, I’m red/green color blind. I haven’t done a ton of dungeons, though usually when I do them, I played ranged. As a ranged player, I often have less enemy’s closely surrounding me, which allowed me to more easily see/notice the red circles on the ground. When I play melee anything, it often becomes quite a bit more difficult for me to see/notice the red circles.
Also note that it’s slightly easier for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is light, and it is very difficult for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is dark.

I consider myself a good player overall. I am quite competent when it comes to any kind of combat in GW2. I’ve done well in general PvE of course, as well as SPvP and some dungeons. Often the harder it is for me to see the red circles on the ground (and the more necessary it is to see them, i.e. with certain bosses), the worse I do.

I opened this thread for two reasons. To see if any other color blind gamers out there are ever having similar issues, and to discuss what possible solutions we can apply to this problem.

My goal here isn’t to make it easier for everyone to see the red circles as to lower the necessary skill level, my goal is to allow color blind gamers such as myself to be on par with non-color blind gamers.
Offering alternative colors could be a solution, or perhaps just a gray color. Making the circles brighter would probably help as well.

Make sure to press the +1 button on the right of this post if you agree. If you can’t see the upvote button, you can just go to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Color-blind-gamer-Issues-seeing-red-circles/768500/upvote to +1 it. Thanks!
