Anyone know of simple UI mods out there?
I went into screenshot mode and it made playing PVE surprisingly more enjoyable and fresh

All I want:
Transparent skill timers in some corner
HP indicator somewhere
Inventory
Maybe chat

I don’t need any monster names, kitten ed personal story arrow, event info, daily info, special event info, skill bar, mini map, etc.

I’m so sick of having to trash and/or merch all the junk in my bags.
I barely have enough slots as it is, so it gets really irritating when every other item I loot is a worthless minor rune or spike or prickly godkitten spider’s leg.

Can we please have an option to NOT pick up a certain item, of a certain rarity?

Thieves and mesmers... again

in WvW

eye floater.7140

So duh, this topic has been erm… discussed before.

Thieves and perma stealth.
What in the world is the justification for perma stealth? It’s their class mechanic, but it’s just total, 100% bullkitten, and it hasn’t changed since the game’s inception. Two minutes ago a thief attacked be, and for 2-3 seconds AFTER I was hit, I still COULD NOT SEE THEM. What is this? What reason could there be for insane mobility AND perma stealth? It’s just ridiculous.

Mesmers and clones.
I wouldn’t give a kitten if three was the limit, but what is with 5+ clones running at you at one time from one godkitten mesmer?

I’m so tired of this kitten. This is why I never play pvp, because the classes are so godkitten lopsided.

Aside from the rant, my questions are:
How come the thief was cloaked after he hit me? I couldn’t even see their name.
When did mesmers acquire the ability to produce more than 3 clones at a time?

Video about Level 80 Boost

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

So now a new player can join the game, use this boost and get instantly to level 80.
On top of that, it also gives you a complete set of soldiers armor, weapons, trinkets, food items, utility items, and unlocks certain waypoints in every level 80 map?
This is just… what?!
Don’t get me wrong, I like the new shared slot, but what’s the point of even playing the game if you’re instantly given everything you need? Doesn’t that just inherently defeat the purpose of playing the maps and lower-level content?

Is Anet that desperate for new players? Please help me understand, because I’m so lost on this one.

I know there’s another topic above, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to say… what the kitten?
I rarely play PvP so I’m admittedly not very good up against players who have only played PvP since day one. That being said, I had four matches tonight, and ALL of them were against different guild teams. What is this? Why can this happen? It’s totally ridiculous. And since when is it just an AoE fest on the CP’s? That’s all that I saw. It wasn’t varied, and wasn’t much fun. I got stunned literally 20 times in a row over the course of 15 seconds due to their coordinated builds. You can’t coordinate builds with RANDOM PLAYERS.

What is this?! Totally turned me off from PvP.

Eye floater, because you aren’t familiar with this forum, you’re missing that the post I was responding to was unquestionably trolling. This happens extremely frequently on this forum.

His post doesn’t even have anything to do with your post; he just picked a random thread and talked about druids being OP. And clearly he succeeded since this thread is now wildly off topic. And apparently I succeeded in calling him on it because he left.

This has nothing to do with your topic or even you. You were the victim of a drive-by ranger hate post.

Thanks. But how is what Fluff said productive for the forums?

“Um, you’re not fooling anyone with this ridiculous post. Go whine about how OP druids are on reddit or something, not the ranger forum.”
“The ranger forum has a constant flood of people who play other professions coming here posing as rangers and posting utter nonsense like this. “Oh ranger is so easy, I mean I love it since I’m a ranger but I don’t think I should be able to solo 4 other players at once.”

“These types of posts are just people who play necro or something and got killed by a ranger, and it’s absolutely infuriating to see this kind of crap spammed in every 5th thread. REALLY annoying and really brings down the whole forum when people do this and mods let it go.”

I told him I saw no one whining on the forums, he just told me to stop flaming.
How is disproving his claim flaming? This whole thing is ridiculous.

Flullball.8307, please delete your negative, unhelpful posts.

I think fluff’s post is very accurate, which is fine. This is obviously a troll thread designed to infuriate people, right? I mean, there is no Meta Condi faceroll Druid build on MetaBattle. Non of the meta builds that uses SoS are condi in any way.

Some of us will run the Druid version of the old SW/T A/D build (for nostalgic reasons) using the new amulets, but it is weak in many ways and is not on MetaBattle for good reason. So, yeah, this is a troll thread.

Edit:
I mean it should be obvious a reaper, burn guard, shatter mesmer, would eat you up and spit you out. You only have one decent condi removal ability and relatively low HP pool.

I looked through the first two pages of the ranger forum, and I do not see any posts about ranger being OP, or people whining; I’m not sure how you can call his post accurate.

Why would this be a troll thread? All I wanted to do was find out why I don’t see this build in PVE more often, and to a lesser extent, WvW and PvP.
Then Fluffball lambasts it for being stupid and full of rage, which he clearly brought with his replies.
Is everyone that on edge in the forums?

As for the WvW viability, I don’t run the build that is posted above; mine is actually a little different. I don’t use any glyphs, and I run the GM trait that makes survival skills remove conditions, so condition removal is actually not bad.

I meant you. You’re the one getting upset. I just looked at the ranger forums, and I don’t see what you’re talking about at all; you’re exaggerating.
I have one of every class, and I’ve played all of them quite a bit. I don’t pvp or WvW often, so my comments are not really directed that way (though as I wrote, I did have surprising results in WvW with the build in those two instances).

Why is this build not the meta?

in short, the meta builds are used for contents that people actually play. so even if a build is effective in certain situations, it will not be the meta as long as majority of players do not care about the situation.

  • pve: not many people are interested in solo champ or anything tiresome which can be done by a group.
  • wvw: majority of players prefer to play with a group and they run group oriented build in general. not many people are interested in playing ranger or dueling.
  • pvp: there is no longer condi/heal amulet.

it is not a bad build. majority of players just do not care about the situations where you feel the build is op. when you face an experienced player who run a group oriented build in wvw, he will most likely ignore you once he realize you run a cheesy build because he knows it is waste of time to care about those players.

Explain this to me, please. What exactly about this build is cheesy, and why would it be a waste of time to engage me in WvW?

Aha, I see. Looks like we have almost the exact same build.

The damage is limited to a few skills, but if they’re well-placed and well-timed, it’s an awesome addition to a group. Yeah, it doesn’t have the same aoe spam as other classes, but it makes up for that with it’s survivability and healing power. I really want to try the same kind of build with rev and mace, but the survivability is just so much lower.
I haven’t seen any other build from any class that can rival this one in terms of damage output and survivability. I kinda wish there was though, cause it makes all the other classes seem like kitten for soloing HoT.

I reworked my ranger a few weeks ago after getting tired of zerker stats. I mixed up toughness, healing power, and condition damage gear, and it’s insane! I know this type of build has been around for a while, but I never hear anything about it.
Running staff (for mobility mostly) and axe + torch, I haven’t found a champ in HoT I can’t solo. I was able to solo the HP champ in Auric Basin near the entrance to TD, the champ (group event) chak in TD, the giant mushroom HP near the entrance to AB, and pretty much everything else. All three of those usually take at least 3 people to complete.

21k hp, 1500 condi damage while wielding axe/torch, and 1200 healing power with staff, plus 3k toughness. The healing is crazy, as is the sustain and condi damage. It has great damage too, with burning and bleeding ticks of 7k and 1k, respectively, while playing solo.
I never play WvW, and yesterday I 1v1’d a warrior and a thief, separately, and they both ran away. They were both generals, too.
But it’s not me! The build just has a lot going for it, and it outperforms every other class I have at pretty much everything. Even my guardian is dwarfed by it.

Why is this build not the meta?

I recently started playing GW1 again, after 1200 hours in GW2. I got tired and bored with the style of GW2, and the third time I started GW again, I loved it. I’m playing with my girlfriend, and we’re having a great time. I thought I’d get bored of the whole thing again, having spent close to 4k hours in it, but so far it’s been feeling really fresh and new (helped by quite a few skill updates and upgrades).

So if you’re tired of GW2, come back to GW1 and try it out again! It’s nice to have skill variety and flexibility again.

PVE and PVP skills have to be split

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eye floater.7140

eye floater.7140

They just have to be. PVE enemies die quickly and don’t have anything in common with player movement/skill use. Mainly I see the problem with conditions; the skills that apply them are way too slow along with the condition output.
A few examples:

Flamestrike (ele scepter auto attack) – applies burning with a 1 & 1/2s cast time. Make it 1/2 s and it would be so much more useful.

Stone Shards (ele scepter auto attack) – same cast time, applies bleeding much too slowly on top of a sluggish cast.

I think just simply reducing the cast time for some of these condition skills would make them more viable in PVE, even with the broken condition system that’s in place now.
Same goes for power-based skills in PVE, some are much too slow/ineffective and are almost never used.

I know Anet has stated they don’t want to split skills, but it’s just impossible not to without making certain ones next to useless in PVE.

Ideas/thoughts for improvement? Go!

PVE spectate & master of damage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eye floater.7140

eye floater.7140

Two things I’d REALLY love to see implemented that would be extremely helpful to the players: Being able to spectate other party members while you’re dead (or even alive) and a master of damage like in GW1, where you could see how much damage you do per second and over time.

Both of these would be super helpful, and I can’t think of any drawbacks.

For spectate, just have a box checked that would allow or disallow people to spectate you. This would be very helpful for people learning runs or builds in any aspect of the game.

For the master of damage, I think everyone would love this to determine which build does the most dps.

Power Necro (how do you build it?)

Siphoning is underrated.

For PVE, I use this –
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQRBIhdu1IHNt0WTjjNc4o4YQk6zkvWFZgEU+cIA-TBCBwAG3f4sSQsK/k8AAwp+DgTCQe9DMOCAkBIfDA-e

The 2 points in Death Magic can be switched to whatever you like; I usually switch it to get quicker well respawn in Blood Magic.
Every hit you gain ~45hp from siphoning, and close to 100 every critical hit (~55 from crit trait). Given the quick autoattack on dagger, it’s extremely useful. Add in Locust Swarm, and you’ve got probably over 200hp per second. Dagger skill #2 heals for close to 3700, depending on your crit chance. Axe #2 heals for quite a lot and does pretty good single-target damage at the same time. If you had higher crit chance, well, it would be even better and you’d heal even more, but I have no ascended armor…
The other reason I like this build is I can trait into spectral skills really quickly, just by changing two traits. Hasn’t failed me yet, and the damage from dagger auto attack is actually really kittening good. Add the damage from the wells and you can deal some serious dps, as well as survive like a champ with DS.

As far as runes go, you don’t really need the ones I have on, but I like the extra fury and duration. Use DS every 6 seconds and you’ve got perma fury from the trait. I love it.

You don’t need siphoning for pve at all, in fact in sucks in all areas of game as far as I am concerned every point you put in death magic or blood magic in pve is pointless useless silly ridiculous downright ludicrous. It’s not underated it’s a dps loss….. if your just having fun do whatever you want but there is a reason why the elite pvers just go pure dps. In a decent party you should have fury all the time anyway.

Uhm, I’m sorry, what? Elite PVE’ers? Is that a joke?

Siphoning is not needed with 90% of PVE, but with the other 10% it’s actually very nice. It could totally be improved, but it’s definitely not garbage; I don’t know what you guys have been playing to call it that.

And yes, I prefer a little more survivability than your average zerk drone; I still output amazing damage for having the build I do, and I’ll be here when you pure “elite” PVE’ers are waypointing back.

Adding a consumable or "use" slot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eye floater.7140

eye floater.7140

I think it would be nice to have a slot (or slots) somewhere on the screen you could put a consumable in.
Say for example you have a couple Sylvari Healing Seed Pods in your inventory; as it is now, to use one during combat you have to have your inventory open and double-click it.
If there was an extra slot you could bind to a key and put an item in, it would make for very fluid use of said item.
As it is now we have lots of random items like that sold by vendors, but their use is super limited due to them being stored in our inventory. It would also open up new combat possibilities, at least in PVE.

I think that people miss a lot of the content by being able to instantly travel to their destination- if everyone was forced to run, think of all the content that would be brought back to life! Think of the possibilities that would open up! Silverwastes is kind of an example of that, and it seems to be working out just fine.

But people have to go through and experience the content to open up the waypoints in the first place. If you choose to, you can certainly do it again. But being forced to do it over and over after you’ve already done it once is recipe for disaster. Everything in the game is optional, even the first time. But after you’ve done it once, even more so. You completed say all dungeon paths and story on AC. Now unless you want specific rewards (tokens, gold, etc.) there is no reason you ever have to do it again.

Now lets say, in order to do anything in Plains of Ashford, you HAVE to go through AC first. How many people would be in Plains of Ashford? Would it be worthwhile to have to find a group, run a dungeon, just to be able to be get into the zone? I don’t think so.

While this is a hypothetical situation, the principle is the same. No one should be forced to do certain content repeatedly just to be able to do a boss, an event, or explore.

It’s just… A little more running.

So maybe it’s just me, but I realized a few moments ago that the abundance of waypoints in every map makes the experience feel less authentic.

I don’t think it’s just you, but I also believe that people like you should play a different game. Most of us aren’t in this game for an “authentic” experience. I mean, if the experience was truly authentic, your character would be forced to eat three meals a day, sleep six hours per night, take bathroom breaks from time to time, and a myriad of other mundane chores to stay functional. I drive an hour and a half each day getting to/from work, and I don’t need a virtual commute in-game on top of that. If you don’t want to waypoint then don’t. Please don’t ask ArenaNet to make the game less fun for everyone else just so that it can be authentic to you.

You know when you begin a game? It’s new, it’s beautiful, you’ve never done any of it before.
Well that feeling of excitement and wonder wears off pretty quickly for most people, I think- after that, it’s all about getting money (for many people). The game loses it’s grandeur, and you never (yes) stop and smell the roses. Not that everyone wants to of course, but I think that something like swapping wp’s for res shrines would strengthen that part of the world… it would re-immerse the veteran players in the content they now take for granted.

No one has patience anymore.

If you’ve read the responses:

Some people do not have the TIME to run across the map. Some people to get the most out of their limited play time have to use waypoints.

And what about when the waypoint goes contested? Evenly spaced means nothing if the closest one goes contested.

And what about maps like those in Orr?

Sorry, but your idea does not work for this game.

It’s not a patience thing. It’s a make the most of the time given to play issue. If I’m not in a hurry and I’m not several maps away, I’ll likely run to the event. Provided it’s not a world boss about to spawn and it’s not do events in this map day and it’s a low level one.

Your idea also punishes new players who are more apt to die. Now, not only do they have to try again to do what they were doing, but now they have to run through a larger area to do so. Possibly through enemies that they had died against before and just barely defeated.

Do not force your playstyle onto others when you do not know the reasoning behind their playstyle. Stop assuming it’s impatience that drives the usage of WP’s. Not all players care about immersion and without the waypoints to get them from point a to point b quickly would quickly get bored and stop playing the game. Not all players have the time to run from point a to point b, and would stop playing the game if most of their time in game was spent running and not playing.

That’s the beauty of having many WP’s. Those that don’t want to use them don’t have to. Those that wish to use them, can use them. Win/win for both groups of people. I honestly don’t see why you’re trying to turn the situation into a win/lose. Where the only people who win are those with the time and enjoy immersion (or whatever reason you wish for not using the WP) and everyone else loses.

I’m sorry if anything I said offended you, I surely didn’t mean to.

But you can’t keep those who disagree with your position from participating in the thread. Please at least acknowledge that there are downsides to your idea and try to find ways to counteract that.

Oh, and no mounts. That’s what waypoints are for. You want realism and people to stop and smell the roses, right? Mounts would stop that. Mounts aren’t in the lore so it would be against immersion and against the lore of the game. So sorry, based on your reasoning for removing waypoints, adding mounts would not be a valid compromise to the lack of time/don’t care for immersion crowd.

Waypoints fit the lore. And those that want to be immersed in the game, can forgo the usage of them.

Yeah, I was kidding about the mounts- I don’t want them either.
Of course there are flaws with this, lots of them, but there are flaws with every idea; talking about it and discussing it with other people raises new ideas and options, and that’s why I posted this.

“Oh no, I died and now I have to run all the way back there”
Deal with it. Convenience is overrated.
I wanted to talk about this idea, and that’s what’s happening- the least you can do is contribute without acting like an kitten.
Can you do that?

Seera said nothing rude nor implied any hostility.

You’re awful at reading people.

Eye Floater, Seera isn’t being rude at all. I sense no hostility in his/her words. They are contributing to the discussion and providing legit reasons for why missing WPs would be detrimental to certain play styles.

Seera is not using any offensive language at all. Don’t get offended so easily. :\

You don’t notice the arrogant undertones? I know people like that, they’re elitist know-it-all’s who never laugh. Don’t be fooled!

No.

If you don’t want to use them and have the time to run across the map, write down what 2-3 WP’s are acceptable and only use them.

Not everyone has the time to run across the entire map. Not everyone finds immersion important. Don’t force your playstyle onto others.

You’re sure hostile… it’s just a discussion.

It’s not about choosing not to use them, it’s about where the players are, what they’re doing, and why..
People don’t give a kitten about dying in this game because they can res at a WP 15 seconds from where they fell.
Anyone play GW1? Yes, it is almost an entirely different game, but imagine how it would have been with WP’s everywhere… awful.
I’m not saying take away ALL of them, I’m saying take away most; even if there were 2 in every map, it wouldn’t be more than a 2 minute run to where you died, assuming they were placed evenly.

So maybe it’s just me, but I realized a few moments ago that the abundance of waypoints in every map makes the experience feel less authentic.
Maps don’t feel like wilderness anymore- if you can port to 17 different places on a single map at your will, it doesn’t feel epic or grand. Nowhere is remote. I get that people don’t want to run so much, but it’s partly the journey that makes an area worth getting to.

So I propose swapping 90% of wp’s for res shrines.

Now I bet that this would kitten some people off, but just take a second to think about what it would be like without such easy access to EVERY area in every map.
I think it would tremendously help the game and the overall feel.
Thoughts?

edit- Okay, why do people continue to lambaste me for “forcing my playstyle on others”?
THIS IS DISCUSSION. IDEAS. WAYS TO WORK AROUND THE RUNNING ISSUE. PLEASE.

Yeah, heroes make everything easy but personally, I like having a party of people.
I’ll be heading to NF sometimes today or tomorrow when I get that high.

I want to play a kitten healer!
There have been a couple posts about the playability of GW1 in it’s current state, basically due to lack of players.
There are still some people in the towns and cities, but obviously far less than there use to be.
So, if we can get some people a little tired of GW2 to come back to GW1 for a while, we could revitalize it! At least for a time. You know, relive the old days; Dungeon SC’s, VS farming, UW, FoW, DoA, the whole bit.
I’m planning on just doing the story line first, but it would be awesome if there were others to play along side me. It’s possible it will get boring, but I really don’t feel that way at the moment about it!
If you would like to, add me in GW, and we can complete the campaign socially, doing all the missions ’n kitten.

Name: Eye Floater
Starting campaign: Prophecies
Profession: Monk (So no worries!)
I have over 4.5k hours in the game, but I deleted all my characters so I figured I’d start fresh.

Les’ do it.

EDIT: It’s really fun actually, feels brand new almost.

Please change hammer auto-attack!

This has bugged me since release. I’d like to use hammer more in PVE, but the 3rd attack in the chain is just so stupidly slow I find myself switching to other weps.
Simple fix, just make the last attack follow with the rest and only allow the symbol to be put down if the chain completes, or something like that. I dunno, but as it is now, I find it very dull to auto-attack with.
Anyone else agree?

Guardian Leveling Weapons?

Just use whatever you like… greatsword is the default main wep for most guardians in PVE.

Explain swiftness acquisition to me?

I’ve been playing since launch but haven’t really bothered to try and figure this out.
I’m running with a zerg in EOTM, and 4+ people lay down Temporal Curtain; I get the first one’s swiftness boost, but the next ones don’t give me any.
Same thing for my own – if I have like, 5 seconds of swiftness left that someone else gave me and a I lay down a curtain, I don’t get the swiftness from my own spell.

Can anyone enlighten me?

I’m more confused about why this change concerns LVL 80 players…. This is an area of the game that has been LACKING for 2 years and when they try to improve it (not saying the improvements are good or bad), the player base wants to complain?

Gotta love the Dev hate this forum thrives on….

True, most of the changes announced so far for this feature patch are based on player’s criticism on the early game experience.

You have to understand two things about this forum.

1.) the population consists of people working a desk job that use it for entertainment, and then people that have either a genuine concern, dissatisfaction with the game that stems from their attitude, and trolls.

2.) The people with the desk jobs are (hopefully) more focused on their work.

The people that actually enjoy the game will either have very little to say, or actually be in game playing if possible, so expect to see very little more than dissatisfaction and anger bordering on spoiled selfishness.

You can usually tell when someone has a point and when someone is just complaining because (insert something about them) sucks, so don’t get displeased by the overwhelming anger you’re seeing. Many people here will poke holes in their argument very quickly.

Now now, lets not derail this (so far) peaceful thread! I had an opinion, I wanted to discuss it, that’s exactly what these forums are for.

It’s not Dev hate.
I just don’t understand why they bother with some of these change for new players instead of fixing existing problems for veterans.
