Can I lvl up a friends char (his account) ?

It is a gray area in the ToA.

Technically the TOA under 9(b) states:

Each Account may only be used by one person. If a minor has been allowed access to an Account under Section 9© below, only that minor may use the Account thereafter. Except as provided in Section 9© below, You may not make any assignment or transfer of rights, obligations or liabilities related to this agreement and any attempt by You to do so is null and void.

Now the first sentence is the gray part. What NCSoft intended for that to mean is up for interpretation.
Does it mean you can’t share an account between 2 people, IE you both play the account, therefore circumventing the need to buy 2 boxes?

Or does it mean you can’t share an account with anyone, ie the scenario of the OP?

Honestly, my interpretation is that NCSoft wants to make money, and therefore they do not want people to circumvent the having to buy the initial account.

I highly doubt NCSoft really cares about the OP’s question.

The only time they would care is if the account becomes compromised, and when you share your credentials you always open yourself up to this.

GW2 has made 373,805 million WON in about 2 years 4 months… 339,149,538 million dollars.

Q3+Q4 12 – 164,854 million WON or ~44% of the total
2013 – 123,317 million WON or ~ 33% of the total
2014 – 85,634 million WON or ~ 23% of the total

Now Q3 and Q4 of 12 were majority box sales… and Q1 and Q2 of 13 still had a large portion of box sales.

So 2014 made 23% of the total money GW2 has made, and you could guess that most of that came from Cash Shop sales.

GW2 is highly profitable in that regard.

When HOT hits, imagine the cash shop plus the box sales…

D/F is the way to level if you want to learn what to do as you level and get better once you get to high level…

Fire > Burning Speed > Flame Wall > Earth > Magnetic Wave > Arcane Brilliance > Obsidian Flesh(if needed) > Air > LW until Flame off cooldown

If you have to go a second set go to Water after burning speed and use burst and comet.

Once you get the traits you can change things around, however by then you have got the attuenment swapping down pretty good.

Complaining about dodge? Really….

Dodge is an integral part of the game… it is in almost every aspect of combat. To complain about having to do it is just pure ignorance.

For a easy time… find a mob with an AE attack that last for a few seconds ( ie poison field, flame fields) and just roll through it. Latency does not even effect that.

Complaining about crafting is just as bad…. 10 ingots or planks or cloth made = crafting done. No grinding needed…. Just take cooking and buy your mats off the vendor….

All the current achievements are just normal activities IF YOU PLAY THE GAME.

MAJOR power/damage bug since last patch.

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: fractal.7039

fractal.7039

Ok two things.

If you are level 1 with level 1 gear and then level to 7 with level 1 gear you will do less damage then when you did at level 1. This is due to the fact that you receive less benefit the higher in level you go. Example, 25 crit at level one may be 10%… that same 25 crit at level 7 is 6%.. those are just to show the example.

Now the 2nd part. Taking what you learned above… you are level 7 with level 1 gear and you downlevel to 6. Your stats get adjusted down by a factor. This causes the stats at level 7 to be less then what they would of been had you been level 6 because the bonus you receive did not drop…. your still level 7.

Example, 25 crit at level one may be 10%… that same 25 crit at level is 6%.. those are just to show the example. That 25 crit gets down ranked to 20 crit when you downlevel to 6 and causes your number to drop to 5% thus it makes you crit less.

That is how I understand the system works, as you level you need more and more of a stat to make it matter.

I’d rather see a movie made about GW Prophecies. That story is complete and was wonderful. GW2’s story is still ongoing and any liberties taken with the movie (and knowing Hollywood there’d be a lot) would skew the canon.

Prophecies story was not great.. it was decent.

People get all rose colored glasses around it.

The best part was the charr invasion and the escape from ascalon. The Kryta part had no real tie in to were the story started… and the crystal desert took it in a whole different direction. It was like 3 little stories in 1 game that just happened to center around your char.

The future of the Ascended grade/tier ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: fractal.7039

fractal.7039

There are currently two possible paths to Ascended eq.
The Casual path will eventually lead to all ascended eq either being removed, their stats reduced to exotic level, or easily and relatively cheaply accessible. In such situation getting ascended eq currently is sensible only if you want an advantage now, because it will get cheaper later on.
On the second path – Progressive – the cost of ascended eq will remain the same. Even if new options (like WvW tokens) will go in, the price will be extremely high. On that path getting ascended eq from fractals is sensible only if you want the advantage now – because soon there will be a new tier and even better eq.

Which option will win is currently unknown.

You have no proof that there will be a new tier.

They will be adding more ascended items yes, but no one said anything about a new tier. Quote the Dev all you like, they still said in many other posts/blogs, Ascended was to fill the gap between exotic and legendary…. I don’t see how you get a new teir out of that.

Guild Wars IS an MMO

fractal.7039

I am going to sum it all up for everyone.

Guild Wars 1 is not a MMO. It is a CORPG, due to the limited players in the majority of the game areas, and the non-persistant nature of those same areas.

Guild Wars 2 is a MMO. To be more specific Guild Wars 2 is a class based MMO. It has defined classes and you can’t choose bits and pieces of skills you want.

Try to think of one “class based” MMO that did not have gear progression in it. You can’t all “class based” MMO’s have gear progression as one of their functions.

Examples of “Class based” MMO’s:

EQ, EQ2, DaoC, WAR, WoW, AoC, Lineage I and II, FFXI, TOR, GW2, etc

We had a gear progression prior to the patch and we have gear progression after the patch…. Why worry about it now.

GW2 is an MMO…. 90% of the world is persistant.

Yup, By their logic, red dead redemptions online sandbox mode was an MMO as well.

Funny thing is, it’s closer to being an MMO than GW1 is. But alas still not an MMO.

Just curios: where you guys see the border between MMO and no-MMO originating from instanced/non-instanced content btw. persistent/non-persistent world? 10% instanced world is persistent so the game is MMO. 90% intanced world is not persistent so the game is not MMO. What about 80%? 70%? 60%? 50%? Persistent? Not persistent? And… why?

10% = Not an MMO
90% = MMO

I have not played diablo, but does diablo have explorable lobbies? With interactive events?

Maybe in some ways diablo is an mmo, from what I vaguely understand it has it’s own economy and you play with other people, it’s all online based. That checks a lot of boxes.

What I would agree with that gw1 does not fit @neatly" into the typical conception of an MMO, but really it is still an MMO.

But since I have written MMO for the hundredth time in 2 posts, I have become disiullusioned. Call it what bloody want, call diablo a point and click MMO, call GW1 a cooprpg, I mean it was basically the same as fable or some modded oblivion or something right?

MMO is a broad genre that encompasses many things, GW was built in the image of an MMO. Debating the tag seems pointless, GW had many MMO aspects, more than any other genre I know about.

Genres are not templates, they are ideas, concepts. You are correct when you say gw1 was not a typical/normal MMO, or even that it did not have a lot of things MMOs usually would be expected to have, but it was still an MMO.

I see you were not around at the creation of the genre…

There was no term MMO prior to AOL Neverwinter Nights and The Realm Online….. These were the first MMO’s, and they set what the definition of an MMO was… Online persistent worlds with thousands of players playing.

Diablo was not an MMO… it was a game that could be played online with 4 people at one time. You meet and chatted in lobbies, formed your groups and went and played.

That was the standard for CORPG. To meet in a lobby and set out on adventures….

Fast forward to GW1…. same premise as Diablo… meet in town (lobby) .. form a group … go out into an instance with 2-8 people…

The irony in all of this is the original Anet team who designed GW:Prophecies was the people who designed the lobby system for Diablo, which was called B.net. The innovation they did was take the lobby portion of diablo and make it graphical…

I love how people STILL try and convince themselves guild wars 1 was not an MMO LMAO.

Guys, seriously.. it was an online based game, with a massive amount of players interacting with each other constantly.

Does a game not count as an FPS if it isn’t based around corridors and shooting middle easterners/Russians?

Does a game not count as RPG unless you get to choose different story arcs based on player choices?

Genres are VERY BROAD, many overlap with each other. The only purpose of them is to give customers and designers a GENERAL idea about the format of the game.

I have no idea what people are trying to prove by trying to say that massive online game, guild wars 1, was not an MMO.

Yes gw1 was different, it’s world was MOSTLY (not entirely) instanced, which I think led to a much better game (but thats my opinion and different topic). Just because it had a different set up to what you may assume from an MMO, by no means invalidates it as an MMO.

(Is guild wars 2 even a fantasy game? I mean there are no elves anywhere!)

WoW set up a successful format of MMOs, it did NOT define what an MMO should be.

this kinda thought pattern is WHY game developers for mainstream games have such a hard time pushing anything new/innovative, because YOU GUYS can’t seem to contemplate something being different, GW1 did not create a new genre, maybe it created a sub genre, but was still an MMO.

:)

How was GW1 different in the way it handled instances from the way Diablo was done?

They were the same, except GW1 was graphic lobbies vs text lobbies. Would you consider Diablo a MMO?

You did ‘not’ have that name since release. Fractal.

Are you a brand new player? Or did you ‘change’ your display name some how post launch of fractals?

Edit: I see you have a post from 2 months ago? Did you ‘know’ they were going to make something called a fractal, or it’s just coincidence?

Sorry, I’m a bit ‘rabid’ about this, because if you got them to change your name, I’m about to go ape kitty on them, as I’ve been hounding on this for months!

No Fractal has been my handle for many games….

I use the name Fractal because fractal means a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. ( I am a math nerd)

I think of my characters as fractals of myself…. and my character names tend to follow famous mathmatical fractals…

Menger – The Menger Sponge

What part of massive multiplayer and online does either GW1 or GW2 not have? Because both are massive multiplayer and online. This by definition is what MMO is.

Sorry this is not the ENTIRE definition of an MMO. By this singular definition… ANY ONLINE GAME that has a LARGE number of players playing it would be considered an MMO. Call Of Duty is not a MMO. Farmville is not a MMO.

A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet, and feature a persistent world.

A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits it, and to whose state user-made changes are to some extent permanent.

If every single person opinion mattered, nothing would get done in this world.

People over exaggerate so much….

I literally hit three button in solo PVE vs one mob…. GS – 2, 4….. Shatter
2 mobs can be a couple more but usually it is still GS – 2, 4… dodge…shatter… 2, 4….2 Shatter

If I get 3 or 4 ranged mobs… Feedback and laugh…

Should max stat gear be easy to be obtained?

No. Max set gear should be a goal to achieve. It should be based on the amount of work one is willing to put in….

Even the phrasing is wrong here, as a game shouldn’t ever be considered work. I wouldn’t care if better gear had an effect on PvE only, especially instances. But it also gives an advantage to people in WvW, not because they’re better, but because they have more time. This punishes people for having a job, a family and so on.

WvWvW will never EVER be balanced. It is a zerg fest… and if you think a minor stat increase will effect that you are wrong. 50 people hitting you is still 50 people hitting you…. your dead no matter what.

I have a full time job, school part time, kids and their hobbies… I still have time to play.. and I am not complaining about the recent changes. So how is it unfair to me?

I loved Epics in EQ… I worked hard to get my Singing Short Sword. I felt proud after I got it. I can still tell stories to this day about friends I made and things I did while working on it.

I understand that I am not entitled to anymore then what I, as a player, can do with my own two hands. I know that I may not be the best most UBER player. However, I also know that I will never give up, and I will do MY best even if I fail. And no one can take that from me…

I concur… This is the best game on the market. The recent changes have done nothing to derail this.

I love GW2

I have been a long time GW1 player and Anet fan….
