isn’t that just complicating a simpler solution? I love the fact that we can play at night and 24/7 but realistically the night coverage isn’t filling 3 BLs and EB on most servers.

A long time ago, there might have been huge night coverage on quite a few servers, but even then they could have flagged some servers as 24/7 (all BLs open) and another league without the night capping if there are enough players for 24/7 ones; and give everyone a free transfer period to play where they want.
Rough idea, but I always thought we’d have some epic battles just before BL battle closed for the day. But then again the PvD karma train might not be so happy.
P.S. The Orbs where awesome. Could’ve just fixed prollems. (no its double L)

Actually, you should totally advise your friend to get bright and happy colors for her sylvari necro. Death is really just the celebration of making room for new life! I recommend Lemon Ice and Jalapeno Dye with Royal Rose accents.
Having the prettiest necro around just makes it more impactful when she shrouds.

My FPS issues are fixed, WvW is playable again.
There are some minor glitches though, new to me at least and don’t know if they’re old or reported; I just never got them till now. Occasionally, skill icons, buffs or even character portraits on the selection screen start flickering.
Also, I way-pointed to a map (sparkly fen) and the screen just glitched and got stuck with the loading screen picture still in view and mob names leaving a trail across the screen. I opened the map and used another way-point, it happened again, but got fixed on the next WP and didn’t happen again for now. Forgot to SS.
Any similar reports or is my GW2 just hexed?

I installed bootcamp just cuz I had the time and for the heck of it, and went straight to zerg vs zerg in EOTM. It’s no issue on the windows version. On OSX I fall to ~4FPS and it’s frustrating even just to stand in one spot and turn the camera in those same fights.
I used the windows installer, stopped it when it started updating the game, then copied the 17GB or so file from my OSX partition; saved me the download.
P.S. It’s a working copy till OSX version is better. I just can’t stand the reversed mouse wheel direction on zoom in, zoom out :P

haven’t been in WvW fights since last week, and short term memory said it might not be as bad as I think; now i feel like breaking everything in my room.
I die in 5secs flat during a slide show.
Maybe necro doesn’t get much love, but when greater marks + staff mastery got bugged with a patch, pretty much game breaking bug, they DID hot fix it within 24hrs or so.
Just saying
WvW is unplayable at 4 FPS with more than 5-10 ppl around.
Someone reported his GPU overheating after last patch (PC i assumed); should that be of any concern to Macs too, is there a way to check, and if so, has anyone monitored?

I don’t know if you are asking about the basics/fundamentals of WvW, but if you start there, you will understand what’s going on much quicker. Like someone ‘kinda’ mentioned, what server you are on will be a factor in the long run, if it generally matches how you like to play or not. (whether they play mainly for points, aggressively ‘patriotic’, how well they respond to enemy attacks, etc, etc,etc and all that.)
Basically, learn the map layout and the purpose of capture points, and you’ll start to understand your teams objectives, where you’re needed, as well as enemy activity and movement. If there is a commander, you’re listening on voice comm, or reading chat reports you’ll know what’s going on better. As in, besides following possible orders, you’ll get a general idea of your team’s, or enemy’s, objectives.
In a nutshell, Capture points are Camps (Supply Camps), Tower, Keeps and Sentries.
Camps provide players with supplies (to the team that owns them); players use that supply to build siege and do repairs when towers or keeps are attacked/damaged.
Camps also send supplies to towers and keeps, via a Dolyak (actually 2), which travels along a Supply Route. Not every camp supplies every tower/keep on the map. Figure out which Camps supply which towers or keeps (simply open the map and see the layout).
Towers and Keeps are vaguely the same workings. Keeps are bigger, have 2 sets of gates and walls, can house a waypoint (as an upgrade), etc, but both need those supplies to upgrade and make them stronger, and both are captured when the Lord is killed, and a ring is up, like sPvP points.
I don’t know if that’s too basic for what you are asking, but you’ll get used to what’s going on from there, including tactics, decoys, etc.
Just do what others have suggested and don’t try most things on your own, pretty much everything is a team effort or at least requires a small group, and you might do your team more harm then good in some cases, especially where upgrades and supplies are involved.
There’s a lot more to it, it’s a jungle out there, but you’ll be fine. HF

I’m curious, hoW Do yOu kNow how the guy plays? Are you friends with him? Because you could have told him that in-game and not post it here; or are you a necromancer irl and sensed it?
On subject @ rest, I haven’t seen the stream yet, don’t run condition builds and don’t know how much of a nerf it is, but if it’s proc’ed with life blast, won’t it make dhuumfire more viable with dire sets vs rabid, less need for precision, more survivability; in WvW at least? (I mean, not in a good way with what dhuumfire did to the rest of the skills, and I’m actually asking for clarification from anyone more familiar than me)

I tried it once in WvW after the nerf, extremely hard to cast without being interrupted when you need it most, but I think the passive is the worst thing about it. Very low LF gain and, like regen and healing, doesn’t work while in DS.
It’s a nice colour though, matches the other signets.

If you took away the rewards how would those of us who only wvw ever get ascended gear? There are enough problems getting dragonite ore as it is.

I always thought they should have everything, or most things, available at a vendor using badges as currency in WvW. And it’s like two birds with one stone.
For one thing, gold doesn’t come as easy as in PvE, and buying gear with badges still requires gold, around 6g for a set (?), armour only, (which could’ve gone to something else if not for siege and upgrades). Compare dungeon runs, you get free sets with tokens, salvageable for ectos unlike WvW sets, and by the time you get enough tokens, you’ll have quite some gold on top. So when something like this comes out (new gear or w/e gold sink), I see a lot less upgrades and siege, and a bit more tower flip flop, (understandable to some extent).
So I wish they would remove the drops from tower lords for instance, and make that chest buyable with badges, adjust badge gain maybe; i.e lord drops badges, defend/assault events reward some badges, ordering upgrades/ running dollies maybe?
All in all, I mean, make life easier for WvW players, but also reward snipers, defence response groups as much as the other guys. Not to mention, the few guys that might hold the gate for incoming, while your team kills the lords and takes the tower. You know how it is atm.

Sadly no, it doesn’t. That used to be the case (for the datamined version), but that got removed. It only heals when you are hit, not steal health.

I’d prefer something like an exact replica of Consume, but consumes the conditions as LF.
i.e base heal as Consume + idk 2% LF /condi.
I have tried going with quickening thirst, but it’s just not that good, unless maybe for hybrids, but I don’t know and not sure as I don’t run a hybrid. Dagger main is more to power side, and dagger offhand is more to conditions side. A sad tale, since dual incinerators would look good. There is no law against it, it’s just that you’ll find you are better off with a different setup.
The build looks like you are playing safe and want the best of both worlds, understandable until you refine, but most likely you will end up with locust or travellers runes anyway with this build. I’m saying, bite the bullet and get the runes, nothing ventured nothing gained. Maybe not just yet. Save up while refining.
I don’t have the runes and not using the signet, I have a spectral/ds build and between warhorn and spectral walk that’s almost perm swiftness, but tempted to get the runes now that you mentioned it since all the bonuses are good for my build and can’t believe I overlooked them.
Anyway, if it were me, I would lose the staff, go dagger/focus and axe/warhorn, and lose the wells for small scale. The invul on focus really helps dagger main hand damage, and you will have a boon strip. Axe you will need, to get some range over the dagger’s melee range, believe you me. Quickening thirst is not worth it for 1 dagger imo, and main hand dagger doesn’t really need the cooldown; since you will more likely have them up after a rotation, and with 30 in SR, might as well focus on Death Shroud. (Dark Path -> dagger -> axe). So I can move 10 points from blood to elsewhere.
For larger encounters, staff instead of the dagger/focus; axe 3 -> plague would be better. You can switch to wells, but I’d stick to consume conditions. The well has no cleanse, and more often then not, you don’t get the full heals, longer cooldown.
Sounds more like darkmoon, unless I misunderstood and you are going to be smiting evil with 60+ other sunbros at any given time.

I saw this title and thought bad idea, but I see the OP’s point. It would help if the dominating team has all t3 + waypoints on your BL; so if 2 strong teams are fighting over your land, at least you’ll see some downgrades, and better chance to capture something yourself.
Still I don’t think it’s that easy even if anet were willing; besides, fix the game design and even out population; but like someone mentioned about server pride, so do most other players (you won’t go, they won’t come), unless returnees, blob refugees, etc figure it out.

Necro just happen to also have the worst stun break in the game. Have you seen their skill recharge? None is faster than a thief’s 45 sec of stealing.

You can use DS while feared, but your fear won’t end unless you traited for that.
What are you referring to exactly? Foot in the grave? or removal?
N.B. on the plus side for necro, we can CB them out of dagger storm. I dont think any other class can disable that. Tho storm is not around every corner these days it seems.

OP, i think the stolen fear length is the biggest joke on necros in any case. I think between the two guys that designed the necro, 1 plays thief, and the other hates necros. They also helped design the thief.
Anyway here’s something very minor I only noticed and started planning on testing if anyone wants to get into/improve/see if it’s actually functional, or if its been tried already. (considering stun breakers and all on cd; last line of defence).
I’m not sure if getting skull feared is the same, but during some stuns/disables I’m able to weapon swap and thought of getting a Sigil of hydromancy (the best I can think of). Vague idea atm, and had actually forgot about it till now, but was hoping to test if it can buy some time or save me a hit or two in general. Again, I’m not sure if we can swap during fear at this point.
I am 99% WvW and do a few dungeons from time to time but I think the issue is that we stand in the back casting spells that are subtle. Our damage and condition removal/transfer goes largely unseen as our damamge piles up little by little.
Only someone who has played a Necro understands how all those little things add up in a big way. It isn’t as obvious as a huge sword weilding warrior spinning 1000 rpm in front of everyone, so the 12 yr olds come to the conclusion that we aren’t effective.
I think a lot of people (that don’t know the necro, but not limited) would assume the conditions on them just wear off when you transfer. If someone doesn’t know the warrior, I think they’ll still know by now what just happened when they hear a “Shake it off” for instance.

lol, that’s the spirit. I’d join but you sound too dungeon pro next to me (dungeon noob), and I’ve done something a bit crazy atm. (had 880+ish hours on necro – less than 8hrs in dungeons i think -, full maps, 6 or 7 exotic sets, weapons,etc . the works excluding dungeon sets, obviously….and… i deleted it to go from human to norn haha. better culturals and tattoos :P. Hit 80 couple of nights ago, rare weapons and 1 cleric set so far)
I’d hope for something simpler myself than CoF CoE, and leave that to you guys for now (kitten OP fire xD)
Ah yeah, now that you mention it I remember hearing about some site (must be that). Anyway, I’m not good at organizing and anything getting things rolling, I just mentioned to see if people were/are interesting in something like this enough to get a trend going and I’d go along.
Depends on what people think for me.
P.S. I mean if it remains an issue/problem with pugs, why not go a different route?. Personally, i’ll stick to occasional runs/people I know because its not that big of a deal (for runs) atm. But it might be an alternative, I’m just not sure how a 5 necro party would work, if it would at all.

Man, come on people. With all due respect, these replies are kinda old issues and I completely agree with you all, but the fact remains (in line with the OP’s question) that there is a sense that you have to justify your presence, prove yourself or prove them wrong sorta thing; unless you run with people you know.
I don’t know if I explained that right, but at least i think most would know that there IS an issue of some sort somewhere for whatever reasons, and i don’t know about you, but I feel like you are allowed fewer mistakes with all this. I don’t do dungeons that much or as much as I’d like because I only have a half finished warrior alt and on that I can join a pug half asleep (like most of them too) and still somewhat enjoy it whether its smooth or next to hopeless. We get wiped, big deal. On a necro, I’ll go if I’m fresh and sharp. I agree with Thresher’s post alot and alot of people run dungeons like their life depends on it to make it worse.
Anyway, my point is, why not start doing LFG threads here, hook up and go 5x necro runs? Would that work/be fun etc?

they are good and hard, but I dont fight 1v1 much in WvW, specially peek-a-boo thieves+culling issues, so i’m not saying you’ll win, but @ shadow refuge, you open with staff#3, then #4. chill+poison, plus it’s a combo field, #4 a finisher (area weakness may be not that good, but u get in the habit of using it in groups for retal or regen – guardian/ele/etc).
I hardly ever use focus, because the cast times are too long, or BiP because it makes me anxious and sloppy trying to get hits in.
dagger #4 gives u an extra tranfer, plus blind. #5 not that good.

I go nowhere without Locust, even before it was bumped to 25%, and with MH dagger, it’s easier to stay in their face as much as possible.

I don’t care what the fairies wanted with this etc, but wondering and never had issue with it.
Anyhow, the first day this was up, some idiot in out flats was working downstairs and I got a powercut. I was going out anyway, then 6 hours later i came back, logged on and was face down biting dust in cursed shore with broken gear. At the time of the powercut, i was just with 1 ally capping our godsword with no invader in sight, just npcs. oh well; and thought nothing of it.
Today, I was going for dinner, tyvm, when an enemy zerg came along and I stuck around for one last siege since we were only about 3-4 defenders by then. Anyway, they broke in, I ran to the lords before I bailed, jumped down and out and headed towards our keep with no one after me (from anza to overlook through the water). Just got hit a little at the lords, then by the door guards since the flip and kept running till I broke combat mode and logged off very calmly underwater.
Then I logged on and was face down biting dust in cursed shore with broken gear. Again I thought nothing of it; but later thought could it be the last guy/s that tagged me are getting free loot now?
No biggy, just laughing my * off at this thingy and wondering.

For PvE, my first 80s set was full berzerker armor, dual daggers and necklace. With rampager’s rings/earrings, which have highest precision if i recall. And a rampager’s staff. Runes of Divinity, Sigil of Rage and S.Sigil of Perception (+10 precision per kill) and 30/30/0/10/0 for around 67% crit chance with food (i think 72 with the staff).
Close to Death and Chilling Darkness, then anything else. Oh, and Fleshy for an interrupt.
Thing is, Well of darkness goes really well with glass cannons in PvE, (and blind in general, like dagger 4) simply because mobs have rather slow attack rates, so you can have them pretty much blind the whole fight/hits, considering your kill speed. It’s not so good in PvP/WvW, running glass cannon and relying on Well of Darkness that is. (take a warrior with greatword #2, will miss just 1 hit and land most of the rest).
I haven’t been so gutsy to do dungeons with this setup like excio said, especially if dredge are involved (immune to blind), but I guess changing just the traits might work.
Just don’t forget to change gear when you jump to WvW. :P big ‘oops’.

I think you’re over-theorizing in vain, there WAS issues with necro and drop rate already mentioned/reported a while ago, irrelevant of lag, bag spotting etc.
You can see the same thing in cursed shore (in parties), where only DS4 can match my warriors all-round drop rate. Make a test guardian or warrior and go WvW, you’ll most likely need to constantly empty your inventory, unlike the necro, even with enough bag slots borrowed from your main.

During 1 particular matchup a few weeks ago, there was what seemed like some guy running bots on our server, then killing them/camping/farming medals from the other. idk, maybe friends set it up or w/e

Overall, fine by me, except for lack of stability, but I’m still waiting for Reanimator to get scraped. This is not just useless, especially if you don’t use minions at all, and useless I could live with, but it causes a serious issue I don’t know if it’s been listed before, and some may be aware. (no info from me to non-nec
). Besides, the guardian for instance, doesn’t have a minor that affects spirit weapons, which he/she may or may not use.
And a fix to drop rate on loot would be cool.
OP, don’t take notice of these heroes, your absolutely right, and what they’re on about is irrelevant since they’re on a different server, different situation and all that.
All servers, matchups are different right now, but so is the time of day you’re playing. If you are up against a world that are dominating greatly, have most of the map, have more numbers, and quite easily 3 orbs, you won’t see much money coming in, if any, and a lot going out on repairs if you actually try and make an effort on suicide missions. And people will gradually leave on a night like that simply because of repair cost punishing their efforts.
On the other hand, yes it is absolutely no issue when the worlds are balanced, or your side is dominating, or hiding amongst a zerg, or playing at peak hours, etc, etc, etc, and you’ll make alot more money than you need for repairs. Upgrade costs isn’t the topic here, and what people are on about is essentially different situations.
It’s a bigger issue when you’re still sorting out your gear and all.
The only story mission that spiced things up for me was the one you do with the Sylvari Reavers and Tegwen (?), or whatever their name was. Those guys kicked major a** its unbelievable . 2 Giants down before they had a chance to say “what the ..” dead.!
Too bad it wasn’t longer.
Anyway, as to OP, maybe Asura change is more noticable than other races? (Haven’t played charr)
