I want to know the mmr whenever I get queued with 4 guys from one division beneath mine against 5 guys of my division (spoiler: I get wiped over and over again and rage quit). Anet still sucks at match making.

Just kidding. Playing PvP could help you, but most of the WvW builds won’t work in PvP because of the bufffood and so on.

If you are playing dragonhunter something like this could help you: http://tinyurl.com/gm9qennw or something with “Rune of Speed”. The build seems to be rather easy but it takes a lot of reaction time and skill to get the most out of it. I’ve used it to wreck other players after I’ve played it for 15 min + but you should be somewhat of a guardian pro if you want to do this (it’s easy to counter).
WvW small scale fights are nothing but composition and training, training, training, training. If you would like to take all the time needed: go for it! Otherwise: just stop it!

To improve: just run into 1on1s and give your best. You’ll improve with every fight. Make the best out of it and enjoy it.

For me WvW and GW2 is dead, so I will head over to another game, but those are the best tips I could give you for any class. Just do it and learn something new with every fight.

Actually no, win or loose I enjoy open field, offensive, and defensive fights in WvW. However I think you can agree that GvG and WvW are 2 seperate things. I think a lot of the changes such as the tactivators, and the boarderlands are lots of fun. A dragon banner has no place in GvG however since it unbalances the fights. WvW isn’t supposed to be balanced. I also like the most recent upcoming changes (for the most part) that were recently discussed. If I were to make any major changes it would be to to reduce the size and a lot of the vertical aspects of the borderlands.

I’m not one to cry that some defender has too many arrow carts, or that some attacker has an advantage due to siege or a banner. If zergs want to zerg good for them, if roamers want to roam more power to them. But GvG is organized for balance and skilled combat, it is not WvW.

The GvG scene was build from WvW guilds and I can’t think of a GvG guild which doesn’t have regular WvW raids but it’s true: WvW and GvG is not the same but it still needs some place to happen. Unfortunately Anet doesn’t care about this topic so we have to use the WvW-, EotM maps or OS. GvGers would appreciate their own maps/system/whatever.

BTW Nope. Guild arenas are not an option. They kitten kittens. It was almost implemented with something in mind like “Awww…they think, they can use it for GvGs! kittenolol!”. -.-

I fully agree with the OP. Nerfed stabi + even more buffed hard CC with HoT is in my opinion very wrong direction. I loved strong melee position in large scale battles. It made the fights more dynamic and interesting. But obviously the devs think different – they want to buff backline casters with tons of AoE and CC who just stand and spam all the skills.

Actually I truly don’t think they understand the consequences of the change to stability even now.

Why not have a 30% HP buff, unblockable on all F1 skills and why not baseline fasthands – I bet the class would rise from garbage to pretty good really quick with these changes – and they’re not even skill balance changes( you don’t ruin other modes) or mechanics changes ( you don’t risk making the class worse).

Fast hands is the one trait which has to get baseline without any discussion. Looking at the warrior from a roamer’s point of view: it would still change nothing. You are still locked in two trait lines (+ berserker)…revamp the kitten class as a whole.

After all those stupid changes, I wish we could get back golem rush week! Give everyone a stack of omegas for free and let’s start the madness! Hell yeah!

GvG needs to replace PvP not WvW…

GvG brackets should be Added to the game, it should not replace anything.

I think that’s a fantastic idea … it would certainly add legitimacy and esport wvw. There is already (or was) an audience for it.

I think almost nobody wants to make it esport, although it would work better than the stuff they have right now. They want to have drama? I guess they’ve never read the WvW community forum. They want to have something which even a casual player can watch? GvGs are easier to watch than the crap we’ve got right now.

All we want is somekind of legitimacy and a platform to fight each other. Right now you can go to your guild hall, which is a pain in the kitten . You have to invite the whole other guild, you have to get everyone into one instance of the map, the arena is to small and you can’t watch it because all you see are red names everywhere so you start to build a trap around the waypoint or make a jp out of boredom.
If you are on different colored teams you can join eotm to GvG but there are cannons spawning at the most stupid times, randoms disturbing the fight – most of the time you just kill randoms in the enemy zerg – or even map blobs trying to roll over your GvG.

The best thing that could happen is when you are on the same MU so you can use OS. It’s still the best place to fight and watch a GvG.

I was invited but didn’t know until the last few hours. It took quite a while to download the game client – so I hadn’t had a lot of time to look around. Also the map was pretty empty. I couldn’t actually test combat but what I wrote on the forums was: “Map too big, too much PvE” (tried to be constructive).

Same here. The beta test was almost over two hours after it started. The only thing left, was a green zerg ktraining and some try hard cheese build roamers, who tried to kill everyone exploring the map.
The map was already dead during the beta test. I’ve never seen something like this.

It’s the fact, that you are forced to use two certain trait lines. There are so many traits which should be baseline, but we are not mesmers – kitten so much traits became baseline.

People are dumb. Yes, it is the sad truth but if you are serious about commanding your communication with various types of players will go a long way. You have people that are with you that may/will tunnel vision. This is where Say chat comes into play; if people physically see instructions pop up on screen in front of them they are more inclined to follow said command.

An addition to this tip: even if some players are dumb, don’t complain about it the whole day. At some point everybody will get fed up about it and you are going to command yourself. True story. I have seen it today.

It easy to find zerg fights in t1 but what about the roamers/small group fights in the lower tiers? What about the solo player entering wvw for the first time? The new desert bl have a larger travel time, so find fights or objective takes a larger amount of time. The rewards you get in Wvw are lower than any pve event (unless you are constantly wiping zergs). In the lower tiers it is easier to see the issues in wvw.

The daily life on a lower tier server in WvW: at least one server is going to dominate everything for the whole week and they will most likely also spam banners like they get them for free, at least one server will lose almost 90% of the zerg fights because of the massive difference in numbers for the whole week and roaming is a pure cancer gank squad fest like in the higher tiers. Conclusion: if you want to have more time for PvP, running fractals or raids, join a low tier server! You will never regret it. xD

Nope. You may call it AvA (alliance vs. alliance) which is kinda like the RvR system teso uses right now. This could be a system for the future – because server pride is hopefully dead by now – but it will end up in stacking alliances instead of servers.

Give us some real GvG mode like in GW1 or two modes: the GW1 like mode and a mode like the current selfmade GvGs in GW2. Rank lists. Leagues. Tourneys. I would love to see it happen and I would forget about WvW as soon as it hits the servers!…but it will never ever happen in GW2…

Everyone is correct. WvW today is about playing cancer builds and classes. Prior to hot, wvw was more fun and better. The inbalance today is crazy.

The inbalance started with the changes to the trait system. At this point roaming pretty much died but most players didn’t care, because you can just stack more defensive stats for zerging.
HoT have changed only one thing: now everybody in WvW is affected. There should have been a bigger uproar but whenever someone is complaining about balance, the “learn to adapt or die”-white knights appear and everything is fine.

That’s true but the combat system won’t save WvW. There is only one reason why haven’t quit GW2 up to now: there are no WvW or GvG mmos I would enjoy so the combat system is enough to keep me playing – more or less.

Dragon banners are super fun! You can spawncamp a whole server with about 15 guys + dragonbanner while your main zerg goes wild on EB. You can win every three-way blob fight as long as you are the only one with access to dragon banner – and probably the other nasty stuff.

Lol. I hit even higher in PvE. xD It is a kitten lord…a kitten champ…the damage numbers are out of control all the time. I wouldn’t even try to recalculate it as long it is not a player you hit. If you ever want to get an answer from anet, you have to open a post in somekind of PvE sub section. The damage on champs is ridiculous. Go play some fractals and you will realize it.

It is quite simple: back in GW1 there was a PvE and a PvP version of a skill if they needed to balance it. In GW2 this idea is almost gone (stealth is still different in WvW, PvP and PvE) so they don’t balance skills according to WvW. They’ve also stated, that they are not going to balance skills based on the outcome of the PvP proleague so nobody knows what they are doing.

It is not. The damage for the elixier gun should be normal (considering the screenshot). The screenshot for the bomb damage shows two different skills and it should be possible to hit this hard in the case of a lord with vulnerablity + depleted defiance bar…although I don’t understand why anyone still plays cele engi.

BTW we also don’t know how many might stacks were involved, so if we should speculate seriously about those numbers, we would need vulnerabilty stacks + might stacks + defiance bar depleted yes or no.

Defiance bar…the damage goes through the roof! I don’t know the exact numbers but I’m able hit for 40k+ damage with a single hundred blades in this case.

Edit: When the defiance bar depletes you get an additional 50% damage bonus.

The banner is is just op no matter how many enemies you are fighting. In my curren MU they are using it to spawn camp while outnumbering. Some of our enemies are also using it for “roaming” (5+ guys with one dragon banner)…so they can kill single enemies even easier.

BTT the whole proof of heroics stuff kittens kittens but I’ve learned how to get my specializations within 1 hour of PvE “grinding”. I understand that players are upset about this.

Actually Anet loves warriors! They are so kittening kitten in PvE!

If their WvW team is too small for such changes, then 2016 will be a really bad year for Anet. There are so many mmos out there waiting for RvR players. Eternal Crusade will hopefully make a big step forward and start some kind of beta, Camelot Unchained will propably do the same and there is also Crowfall. A kitten sci fi mmo RvR shooter, a more classic hardcore fantasy RvR mmo and a somewhat fresh RvR mmo…there is something for everyone!

They should wake up or they are going to lose almost the whole current and former WvW players. It’s a shame. WvW was always promoted as a part of the game and as something special but it gets ignored since release.

Have fun roaming on your thief in WvW. There are a lot of classes/builds which will just melt you. That’s okay for me but actually every class will just faceroll you if they are on the same skill level as you. The only balanced fights I find are against other thieves or warriors.

BTW you are an expert in running away as fast as lightning on an daredevil spec but good revenants will still catch up and kill you 90% of the time. It’s so broken, it’s almost fun! Can’t wait for the balance patch…or the release of some other mmos…

You also can’t use “Name Change Contract”. Everytime you fullfill all requirements for picking a name, you get an error message after several seconds: “Character name” contains words or letter combinations that are not permitted.

So I guess someone has messed up some kind of name check mechanism. That’s why you probably can’t create characters.

There is something going on at A-Net, where devs are talking, or going to talk to actual WVW commanders, we were on TS3 when our commander got contacted, so something IS in the works, but what when etc. no idea. They might post something based on results of what comes out of that once they make any decisions and commit to a course of action, but not before.

They also had a “adopt a dev” program going on for WvW guilds and the only thing they did afterwards was nerfing stability – probably because they wrecked poor public blobs with their WvW guild with ease.
So talking with actual WvW commanders isn’t a good sign at all. They should bring up their kitten ideas on the forums, where we can discuss about it. There are no mystic forge recipe to change the stats of an ascended aquabreather like for all other parts of the armor – and also weapons. Idk if this is intended or if someone forgot about it.

There are so many statements about “specializations being part of horizontal progression”: they introduce masteries as horizontal progression. We don’t need specialization as a part of it. WvW players got shafted again. We paid for what? Specializations. Probably also for guild arenas but I don’t think, they are big enough for serious GvGs.
I don’t now how other WvW players think about grinding hp but I have other tasks to do after the release, like: learning the new map and all the shortcuts, new tactics, siege deployment, the new siege weapon, claiming/buffing objectives and so on. There is enough “horizontal progression” for WvWers without even farming hp or leveling masteries.

Few weeks ago many thought we would have to grind PVE to get the points.. Now we have the option to grind them in WvW if we want.. Not really shafted if you ask me..

Think about how many rank ups you have to get to unlock one specialization. Then think about unlocking it for every class…and then cry about those guys who have more than 8 characters.

Hell, at 24 characters pretty much everything will feel like a ‘grind’.

There are player with even more characters (just lvl them with tomes and/or crafting). I could live with the decision that I have to grind through this whole stuff once per class but this is ridiculous…up to now everything was pretty well designed. Hit lvl 80 and you are ready to WvW all day long but now you have to grind PvE stuff over and over again or grind EotM.

BTW Nope. While doing normal WvW you won’t be able to unlock everything at a reasonable pace…as a roamer it is even worse.
