there is non incentive, this game died for me when i realised theres no purpose of RVR and the maps are far too small, they still havent put in a WARHAMMER like warband feature either?
Hi all. Quit this game a while ago when i lost the will to live at lvl 80, was just kitten about on the interweb before I goto bed for a awful early start tommorow or just kill myself instead when i came accross what looked to be a real nightfall website, the guild from WARHAMMER ONLINE. saw posts from the old usual RVR monsters on the site from just before the game came out. They looked to have picked Gunnars Hold but the only nightfall i can see on there is Nightfall Rising which seems to be a US guild and different people.
Can anybodyshed some light on weather the real Nightfall are still in this game somehwere? Would prolly make a comeback if they were as RVR with those guys is epic.
No Real Reason to WvW? Try “Because it’s fun.” That’s the same reason play most games in the universe.
Lack of Community Building? I don’t see it. I server hopped for a while. Even at just a glance I noticed great, budding communities on many servers.
Too Hard to Kill People? I kill people all the time, both in group fights and solo. Sometimes the loser escapes death. Sometimes they don’t. The balance here is just right.
As for your concluding minor issues, they are either differences in taste or problems that will be resolved.
I also find it quite ironic that you complain about there being too much deception coming from a game where there were entire packs of people who were permanently invisible.
And please please please please no realm ranks. For the love of all that is beautiful in the universe, please not this. I will cut off my toe and mail it to Arena.net if that’s what it takes to avoid this kind of garbage in GW2.
Fun = only choice being to follow the zerg with your face on the keyboard? gets dull quickly mate. You cant roam as the maps too small so u cant avoid zergs, you cant solo as u will get zerged you have no choice atm but to find your relams zerg then tag along for the ride until you run into a just as unorganised zerg but with larger numbers and get wiped, and the pop cap for the rvr areas must be tiny.
Ive yet to see more than about 2 warbands worth of ppl on screen at any one time. I dread to think what a DAOC relic raid force would do to this games RVR lakes lol. the GW2 engine seems stable and able to cope with the numbers ive seen so far so let us try an old school DAOC RR zerg plz Never forgot those days of everyone putting on a black cloak to help with framerates and relic raid forces being so big the zone would crash hehe

I agree with Tarnin – DAoC is too complicated for people who jump into the game today. However, the more complicated something is, generally the deeper you can delve into it, which is kind of the whole point of an MMORPG.
I’m not saying the progression mechanic has to “break the game” and make people who farm stuff overpowered (which btw, has been fixed in WoW, so unless you can come up with another example…). But it absolutely needs more of an incentive. Even if it was to be competitive 8v8, 5v5, 3v3, or whatever fights with ranked ladder matches. To this day, I have not found a game that gives the unique experience of running with 1-7 people as a group hunting other groups.

EVE online is the prime example of complicated and deep. Still going strong, you could play it for a year and still be a “noob” and its about the only proper MMO still going imo. Thats a MANS MMO that is
as a daoc player from the beta till about 2007 i totally agree on everything you put mate. Only WARHAMMER had the potential to match the glory of DAOC and its RVR. WAR always felt like daoc lite tho. but still had some truely epic moments in RVR once i started running with the Nightfall Alliance Warbands on Azgal.
Kinda hoping GW2s “WvW” will start properly once servers start to get organised groups running around. ATM it seems most ppl are not even 80 yet so just join the zerg and play semi-afk following zerg etc.. Im hoping this is only temporay or WvW will get stale VERY quick. the grind to get the karma is all well and good but the games only been out a month and ive not really been playing properly hardcore and im 80 and 400/400 in 2 crafts as well as having an exotic bow + on my way to full exotic armour set.
Game defo needs some decent rewards for RvR such as realm ranks and perhaps abilities, the RVR Lakes are too few and the queues are silly at times (far shiverpeaks)
simply having WvW there as something to do will not hold the playerbase very long. Crying shame as this game has so much potential, still cant get over how easy it is to level up. Theres no achievement or even a buzz when u ding, hell i didnt even notice dinging 80 as i was running around in RvR. I can still remember to this day the moment and hour before I hit top level in DAOC and the sense of pride wearing the epic armour for the story completion
dont send multiple tickets. poor ppl are prolly wincing at their screens at the amount of tickets they are getting. They will get to yours eventually. At least update your original ticket or sit back and wait. Starting a new one only creates confusion on their end. Im not defending Anet here btw. I have issues with them as well but as a HR and customer services person I understand the hell they must be going thru. Still no excuse for poor service! EVER!

you need to goto a game website such as gamespot of cvg or kotaku, many many people seem to have been hit by this unjust ban. Wouldent be too bad if they warned ppl that they considered ppl using an INGAME ABILITY as botting then at least you would know it was wrong. They have your money and they can and will do what they want it seems. I think Blizzards new MMO will get a lot more players when its launched as GW2 was supposed to be where the cool kids hang out, as it is most of the cool ppl will be banned by then and the game turned into goldspam wars or WvW will turn into zergwars
Yes they have a flood of tickets still. All the hacked accounts didnt help either. Took them a week to response to my initial ticket regarding why I was banned. Of course I think a lot of us re receiving copy/paste responses. Ive put in a refund request and dont expect to hear anything until this time next week/ish. Bide your time
My server isnt too bad as far as gold spam, yeh everytime i login i get about 5 spam mails and the /m has the odd seller spam but the bots are ALWAYS online. in the same places too but nothing is ever done. Seens Anet are more concered with other things atm such as banning innocent players.
The goldspam is nowhere near as bad as diablo3 tho. That got quite amusing at times.
defo contact them mate and get them to delete it since your information is still on their database so if they ever got hacked your info would still be there.
also how did you go about getting the refund? is there a quicker way than the support tickets? or via the cc company? I have just received pretty much the worst peice of customer service in history which I can only assume is an auto response as not only is it talking from the past but it completly ignores my ticket question lol
Commander literally gives 3 things, 1 person a blue marker, 1 person the ability to mark the map, and anyone the ability to click and join the chat channel.
Our guild pooled our money because we wanted to be able to group as a GUILD. We were envisioning more raid group less chat channel with map markers. We also didn’t realize that there would be no way to keep people out of the group. What we get is a steady stream of zerglings joining the squad which in turn means that the chat channel just becomes the new team chat. We literally had zerglings in our squad arguing with our officers… Glad we wasted the 100g.
What they should do:
-Refund all Commanders books and add in Captain Training which costs say 20g.
-This will allow a person to create an actual group of 20 people.
-This would be a group where people need to be invited and can be kicked without a “vote”.
-The Captain would be allowed to assign 2 other people to the role of assistant. These people could edit map markers and invite people or kick people.
-The channel would show like party (blue) and the leader could use the same map markers they have for the commander which would show up just for the group.
-Like parties you would be able to see anyone who was in the party anywhere on the map.
-There would be no marker over the persons head to the rest of the world which would eliminate the issue of random zerglings trying to attach to you from across the map/the easy spying potential.
defo needs a warband option. 24 man each and all show up on the entire map. Nothing more annoying that losing ur mates in rvr. Atm its pretty much PUG WARS and either getting zerged while u try to find your zerg on the map or u eventually find ur own zerg then watch it take a keep then run off in 5 diff directions while you pray to the gods that the ppl you have followed are going somewhere decent. WARHAMMER Online for all its faults did this beautifully. just copy what worked from there
In the meantime, we should tell all journals about what’s going on. This is a scandal, I never tire of repeating this.
totally agree mate, im glad someone is keeping sshots of the forums since they seem to like deleting various topics, My topic asking why id been banned for bad language when there is zero proof or any contact from anet in the first place saying “you said xxxx” “therefore you will now get a 72hr ban” if id got that email just as the ban started Id be fine, I sereiously doubt they have anything and really doubt they have the time for actual people to go thru logs checking for bad language when theres thousands of ppl locked out coz of various other means.

belive me mate. Retail stores get away with it too. I work for a certain very large one who shall remain nameless but they lost my passport, threatened to suspend me as they no longer had “proof of my right to work in the UK” (I was born in england and lived her my whole life) When i kick up a stink about it including a complaint to the Independant Commissioners Office they basically lied to the ICO about where the manager has gone and that it was an isolated incident (6 others had similar things go missing)

dam thats really nasty mate. I hope your bank as put the money straight back in as is obviously fraud. As a gesture of goodwill youd think someone from Anet would ring up folks such as yourself who have had real life bank accounts compromised due to Anets mistakes/inept security measures. Being in customer services in one way or another for over 19 years I would be embarressed by most of the stuff thats happend to innocent customers such as yourself due to Anet/Ncsoft if I was an employee. Perhaps we all shouldve learnt from the Diablo3 fiasco and not used real life auction houses/TPs until well into the games life so any security concerns can be dealt with by the devs over time. I know the next MMO i buy will not be Ncsoft/Anet, will not be anywhere near launch day and will be on a totally seperate email address and any cc details input totally removed after initial purchase. oh yeh and ill makesure not to talk in the /1 channel at all incase someone gets offended.

LOL i got that e-mail too, thought at last ive got some proof of what i was actually banned for but no, just them wanting more money off me which I will refuse to ever do from now on since they could randomly ban me “in my opinion” for nothing without proof at anytime in the future, perhaps even a permaban! sounds like theyve been on the banning frenzy, funny thing is when we log into this forum at the bottom of that screen we see “bad language” listed as one of the peices of content in the game yet they seem to be banning ppl for using it in game.
I expect im in the same category as you mate as in they will look into my suspension but by the time they do itll be over (72hrs) and im demanding proof from any logs they have to jusitfy this ban. Gonna be planying on tneterhooks from now on, dare I even say the s word just incase some GM finds it offensive and bans me for 2 months. Well, then, you’re not hacked or permanently banned, are you? If you were suspended for two weeks, then you had more than one infraction. The first suspension is only 72 hours, but it scales up for the second — and I mean incident, not two reports of the same incident.
how is he to know what he did wrong if you do not send a log of what was said or done.
I have not once abused anybody in game but have directly and been victim of it MANY times yet these people have been online everyday since launch. I want the log sent to my email. The support ticket is useless when the suspension will be over about a week before theyve even read the ticket. I have stated the TRUTH and said what many others on this forum have said. Who have I insulted on this forum? and Anet ARE proven to show incompetence, look at this forum for proof! Yeah half the people may be botters are are just venting but all those poor souls with hacked accounts and various others banned/suspended without justification like myself are the ones being kept out of the game. Im only too happy for them to post on here “as was said before” what this inappropriate language actually is. Ill be the first to apologise if Ive offended anybody in game by an off the wall remark, Id like to see what it was so me and my friends can learn from it and not do whatever it is again in /m. I find it incredible that people who blatanly shout and abuse people in /m on WvW are still playing when Im and many others are locked out thru no fault of their own.
Whats more increidble are the people who stick up for this behavour, this whole ticket situation is a disgrace and my small situation pales in comparison to whats happend to people wit hacked accounts and cc details. They have spent since day 1 giving priority to those who had their account stolen while others have had tickets rotting with not even a simple acknowledgement that they are even looking at it.
I just think it is time that the other tickets get some priority as we have waited more than enough time to get support especially when the issue is about something that you purchased in game with real $$$. I am not making any charge-back threats like the ton of other topics created, I just want support for something I had paid for. I do not think I am asking for a lot here.
While i can see how you feel here, this is simply not true, and i am a perfect example of that myself. My account got banned for some mysterious reason.
I made a ticket explained everything from my point of view what had happened and that i will not take it to get banned for something i did not do, and i explained that this must be a case of a bug or a huge misstake.
It took a while but i did get a reply, and i did get my account back.
So they DO look into other stuff than just people who got hacked.
Not to forget is that a high volume of people saying they got hacked, are actually people who cheated and got banned, you can’t close your eyes for this fact either.
Sadly, this kind of thing may very well affect serious players too, and that is unfortunate.
Like i said, a good customer service is to treat all along the same line.
I personally don’t like the priority thing, and think they should take the tickets as they come in, or at least speak up and give some sort of ETA.
In the end, i hope you get to play soon aswell, because it’s really frustrating to wait, i know that feeling..
out of curiosity what did they ban/suspend you for mate? I myslef got suspended for 72hrs for bad language, something im pretty certain is inaccurate or just them being total chat nazis. Glad to hear they did reactivate your account.
bit harsh on the hacked account people but I see your point. I dont think anyone is being moved to the back of their ticket system they just seem swamped and do not have anything in place to help them or us. Seems half their problems are their own fault tho such as all the random bans for no apparant reason then the inevitable swarm of appeals. Perhaps they shouldve targetted the bots and goldpspammers after they have sorted out their actual customers instead of pissing off a lot of ppl in the process
Be careful they may lock your thread as they just did to mine asking about getting a refund. they dont like the “tone” of what we say now. Ironic since I was suspended for “inappropriate langauge” which I STILL WOULD LIKE YOU KNOW what was said so 1/ I can warn friends what might get them banned and 2/ SO I dont do it again in the future. the auto log off didnt seem to work in the first week as i remember going afk for at least an hour and still being online when i returned to the computer. Since I have to go afk quite a lot I often see the timeout kick happening these days tho you still see the countdown when u logback in hehe. Im not using any 3rd party programs altho im not sure if going on auto run bypasses the autologout?
It dont matter anyway as they banned me for bad language and still wont show me proof so im getting a refund. Dont need a company like this running a game im playing no matter how good it is.
Hi guys, How would I go about getting a refund direct from Anet since they are STILL to provide me with any kind of response on why they suspended me for 72hrs. All I want is PROOF from whatever logs they looked at to decide on a bad language suspension. THERES A PROFANITY FILTER IN THE SODDING GAME YOU IDIOTS!
Anyway. Since chargeback is not good for either side altho I will go that route if need be how do I ask for a refund? Its clear the support Ticket system is woefully understaffed with ppl waiting over 9 days for a copy/paste response which solves nothing. totally with you on this dude, report them to BBB if you are not satisifed as well. Im giving them till monday to unban me or proove what was said in game. Lucky a friend of mine is very high up in HSBC and has already assured me the chargeback and kittentore that follows will hit Anet even something about Anet getting charges of like 20quid after the games price being refunded. call your cc and get the refund from them mate. then report anet to the bbb. I too have been suspended without proof or reason for 72 hours. I want proof before the 72hrs is up and an apology
View it like this GW2 is F2P therefore they have your money and sicne were not paying monthly they dont really care if you stay and wait or move on they have your 60$ ether we have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for a pitty response and a poor response or buy a new copy just throwing more money into thier pocket. i guess you get what you pay for.

OR contact your bank to dispute the charge and file grievance with the better business Bureau. Both of which are free. (well the dispute may cost at your bank but free with my bank) Which is what ill be doing for both of my collectors editions once my 72 hrs is up. (I’m giving them the benefit of 72hours after the automated response not my submission)

Ok, now I assume the ban was 72 hours but when I tried to log in I see the 71 hour message as well as verbal abuse message. Now i am 100% sure I have not verablly abused anybody, in the contrary I have witnessed lots of abuse from others in WvW and PvE you know the usual lot cussing “noobs” for asking or even talking in /map or the ranting in WvW when a zerg steamrolls another one.
I have been reporting Goldspammers and trolls I GET BANNED? No warning, no reasoning NO PROOF! I have submitted a ticket appeal and expect my account re enabled by the time I get in from work tommorow afternoon. I will be calling my cc company to get a charge back since not only have you taken drastic action with no proof or warning but still have an unfinished game with the TP constnatly up/down/ login server issues etc.. Im pretty confident the charge back refund WILL happen. I am disgusted at Anet for this especially after reading the numerous problems ppl have had on these forums.

I am in the same boat as you are! I have been waiting here checking my email like every min and reading what others have said and posted and re-reading the rules and conducts. Yet, I have never received any email or in game notification what I had done . What is going on? There are no definite answers any where!
think the best we can do is get our cc companys onto it and get our money back. I certainly will not be playing if I have no reply before monday. This is unfair and a rip off.
Ok. I just woke up this morning and wanted to play Guild Wars, tried to log on to my account and realized i have been given a >2 WEEK< ban for saying a racial slur?? i said ONE offensive word and got banned for 14 days. I think that was extremely ridiculous. i can understand banning people for a few hours. but 2. entire. weeks. i’m pretty sure this game has a language filter? why ban players for swearing if you have a filter to protect people that dont want to hear it.
Ive been banned for 71 hours for no reason at all. I have demanded proof from their logs on anything they think i may have said. I suggest you go thru your cc company and get a chargeback refunded and report Anet to BBB if you feel their are in error AS I WILL BE BY MONDAY MORNING

You will need to do this through the credit card company you purchased the game with. I just started the process about 15 minutes ago with mine as I am also tired of waiting. Its fairly simple, some can be done over the phone immediately, some you might have to fill out a small amount of paperwork.

I hope you understand the ramifications of charge backs. I haven’t yet seen what ANet plans to do with all of these people threatening charge backs, but it’s likely to be similar to other video game companies. For example, Valve will ban your entire Steam account and you will lose access to all of your games that you’ve purchased licenses over the occurrence of a single charge back. Companies this day and age don’t play around. Be warned.
but i doubt many of us have any other game with Anet so charge back will just send them a message to improve their customer support. I got mine off their website so will be going thru cc, kinda wish i purchased the retail version from my local so i could just take it back to the shop (i know the boss)
I am right with everyone here. I will probably be contacting my bank and getting a charge back. I just went through this on a different purchase for my mom, helping her get her money back from a very unprofessional company with no customer service just like this one…..I have submitted a ticket and updated it multiple times and it has been 6 days without a reply. absolute garbage. I was able to change my password my account is just banned…I provided all my purchased information as well.
Just tired of game companies thinking they are some “class” above the consumer….just done with it and will be taking whatever legal matters I can with refund and telling everyone I know about the poor service………as if they dont have a firestorm of bad pr everywhere now.

I suspect they would be a bit better had they had a monthly fee but as is they are utterly unnacceptable with their attidude and terrible support. Ill be going thru my cc company on monday as I know there will be zero response from my ticket
I am also going thru my cc company to demand a refund as Anet have just this minute suspended me without warning or reason. The last thing i remember in game was 4 ppl on /m giving someone who asked a genuine question abuse and getting a goldspam msg. and I GET BANNED!? totally unnacceptable. Have submitted an appeal but from readon these forums its clear by the time they respond with an undoubtably auto reply the suspension will be up. I refuse to play a game where such actions can happen for such a long time with such poor customer support. I thought i got away from such poor support when i stopped playing D3 hehe
Never forgot those days of everyone putting on a black cloak to help with framerates and relic raid forces being so big the zone would crash hehe
