well I’m already running a variation MF build and was running 4 medi’s when I was testing littany.
I prolly should have said that at the start man sorry.
but my experience with it still stands. if it was instant the you could pop it and burst and no one would see it comming and it would be sick. at the mo it can work really well but it does have thr major flaw of cast time telegraphing its use.
I use traveller runes in my build so no dire need for swiftness, if that helps.
I tested littany for a few days in spvp and pve and found it to under perform compared to to shelter.
on paper the numbers look good especially in a MF build, but the 1 second cast on littany is the problem.
it telegraphs the skills use and allows players to counter it very easily negating and damage healing that could have been done. it will get u killed against decent players a lot.
pve its fine unless mobs knockback then u might have some problems because it is only 4 seconds then by the time you’re back to target its down again.
shelter is still better simply because the 2 seconds of blocking can be a life saver in most situations, as most people already know.
imo, until litany is instant then it will always be a subpar heal.
I use travellers on my roaming build simply because they are better all round stats than any other set and the 25% movement boost allows me to use greatsword hammer instead of limiting myself to staff which I only use when running with zerg or guild.
stacking vitality is ok but having 80+ critdamage is much better when I already have 18k hp to sirvive heavy bursts.
it is a metter of preference, I did save for a while to get them but its money well spent imo.
if guardian was balanced then we would be as strong as warrior, and we aren’t anywhere close….
but that why i love my guardian, i feel like an underdog in every situation and when i win (which isnt that often) it feels much better than steamrolling someone with my warrior that is just so easy.

Seriously? Underdog? Look at Engi, that’s what an underdog looks like.
Warriors are only massivly overpowered, that’s all. Guardian is doing excellent. Of course I wouldn’t mind some minor fixes and a second sharp look on already discussed problems but for all I have seen Guardians can pull of some nice work (compared to any other close-to-well-balanced-class).
that the point, warrior aren’t over powered, they are perfectly crafted because they have options to play different stiles which guardians lack.
i can beat some warriors in wvw even on my engy who i LOVE btw most run away, i consider it a win samee as most thieves who run don’t come back to get served again.
the reason i use warriors as an example is because they aren’t required to stack vitality gear in order to survive more than 5 seconds unlike a guardian. and yes i have seen full zerker guardians wtfpwning people in vids, i do wonder how many times those same guards when down to 1 or 2 heart seeker crits that weren’t included in the movies.
if guardians where to receive a hp boost, even only 2 or 3k then that would free us up in gear and traits to try out more dps or support roles, because currently i do think we are pigeonholed into 1 or 2 roles.

I honestly do think we need a hp buff, not much but we do need it.
I would say the same for elementalists as well.
we have to sacrifice too much of our utilities and heals when we have to compensate for the crutch of very low hp pool to begin with, imo.
now I’m not saying guardians should have everything, but i do think, with recent warrior changes our hp should be looked at.
I find it a bit backward that we are supposed to have the best healing/utility in the game (to compensate for having plop hp pool) yet are outdone by warriors at nearly every turn, damage, survivability, mobility, and group utility.
i still think guardians biggest failing is their lack of hp, its too crippling to allow variations of specs to be used.
warriors have everything in 1 shape or another and allows for crazy variations of specs to be used at any given time, regen bunker, bunker, dps, dps regen hybrid, condi, condi regen, condi bunker, shouts, banner builds i could keep going easily… not only do warriors have options they are viable play stiles, none of which are crippled by a minuscule hp pool.
Guardians have maybe 3-4 viable specs if that, and 2 of them are bunker variations.
guardians are stuck with the hp crutch, as soon as we consider going anything but a bunker build we can potentially be insta gibbed because we have such low hp and toughness doesn’t help as much as anyone would think.
warrior can have better regen abilities, better group support, better dps, larger health, better mobility, better condi condi removal (spec dependant)

Axes are brutal.
Guardians are noble and magic based.I think a axe wouldn´t be a “good” weapon for us.
Polearms or Naginata´s are better choices for us i think.

and a mace isn’t brutal? its probably more brutal in the melee weapon kitten nal than anything short of a shark tooth sword imo.
OP: the axe idea is nice, but I’m thinking a duel wieldable weapon would also be good, since our shield skills suck rear, and focus torch is a bit meh imo
any idea’s for offhand axe skills?
honestly the stats aren’t half as impressive as i’d hoped, so the ascended gear is almost a waste of time.
if you wanna do it that’s fine but I wouldn’t burn money on it because they are very very minor improvements over exotic and for the effort involved. personally its something I will do as and when I can be bothered and have spare materials lieing around.
I’m not gonna waste too much time for a stat increase that doesn’t make any overall difference to my current build.
not only are the stats a bit plop but the skins look stinking on asura
i think that’s why they hotfixed this, they realized engineer’s wouldn’t need to grind the crafting to obtain an ascended item damage to get the same damage equivalent.
you will probably find in 2-3 weeks when the crafting of ascended weapons becomes more common and everyone is running around with them then they will increase the damage again.
the problem is if they don’t hard code kits to scale with equipped weapons then this will continue to have every time there are item upgrades available.

i like the char character generally, decent combat/idle anims, nice voice acting etc but some things nip my head:
the hoverhead-hobo-packs and the running on all fours all look stupid to me.
I figured if i stayed in kits it wouldn’t bother me but when the kit sits so high on her back it looks kittened.
if u can change sex then race change should also be available, and free for char engineers! due to very buggy kits and shields.
or fix the graphics bugs then make us pay for it, but since the buggy graphics have been ignored since release, race change will do
You consider race changes, that could actually change your build depending on racial skills, as crap, but you complain about legendaries, which are just skins and nothing else, and tells us that pure cosmetics ruined the game for you…
I think it’s time you might move to a new game where you can explore a new world.
I never said race changing was crap, I said it was never going to happen. The choice of race has too much impact on too many aspects of the game, and is too much a fundamental of the core design to be changed now. But a simple cosmetic oversight like this….if Arena Net actually cared this could be knocked out in a single Living Story patch. Less than two weeks effort by the team. Just whip up two are three new skins and spend a few hours hammering out the code. Ship it off to testing while you work on re-skinning the content and rewriting the same quest text that you use and reuse for every Living Story update.

i would definitely pay for a race change, i play char female engy and the hobo packs are even more hideous on them than they are all the other races, not only do they float (elixir gun)above the character but because of the char slouch the pack is sitting on the back of her head!
either fix the kitten packs or give us something, anything to change our race, jeebus i would buy potions to not look at my headpack anymore.
And no, ghost tonics don’t cut it because i cant use siege with those on.
why lore has anything to do with it is beyond me, why would anyone who cares about lore even notice? are you that much into your roleplaying you cant turn a blind eye to this? what about all the gender hopping? apparently swapping bewbs for balls and vice versa is well within explainable lore…
been playing a 4 kit engy and cant help but hate how poor the kit refinement trait is, then i had a look at my other toons ranger, warrior, thief, ele… all have signets with half decent passive effects.
why cant kit refinement do something like signets? depending on what kit is equipped u gain a passive buff.
I’m just brainstorming here but it was thinking something along the lines of
medkit : first responder = 25% movement increase
toolkit: hardened = toughness boost
elixir kit: chemical expert = remove a condition every 10 seconds with an internal cooldown of 10 seconds
haven’t thought of any for grenades and bomb kits yet and these are just off the top of my head, but even if this was broken into 2 tier traits 3 kits for 1 trait 3 kits for another for balance.
it seems unfair we are the only class that doesn’t have any passive buffs all other classes have.
thought anyone?

It is always funny to read some of the advices, how to handle stullcrack:
- “Skullcrack is short range!”:
A good warrior will shieldbash you first as a preparation for skullcrack.
- “Dodge it! It’s readable!” :
The skullcrack animation looks just like the autoattack animation.
- “Use stunbreaks, learn to play!”
Most stunbreaks have a long cooldown, a longer cooldown than skullcrack.Warriors need a nerf.
warrior can hardly get near my ranger if I’m paying attention and even if they do I have evade x2 block knockback stealth another knockback 6 seconds invulnerability…another 4 if I have the right elite equipped… that isn’t mentioning the pets run, usually wolf spider so fear and knockdown… the root is pretty useless but still.
If u let them get close u deserve to die.
I have plenty of tools to keep me alive all as a glass cannon ranger with no regen.
learn from mistakes u make, try different things next time untill they work the way u want.
unfortunatly the mobility and signet is only a problem if warriors where the only class that could easily disengage a fight and regen but they aren’t.
we all know thief can easily, but certain rangers can get similar regen strengths with the same disengage capabilities, then there is D/D ele’s engineers to a lesser extent with rocket boots and jump shot…
the whinging is only because they aren’t used to warriors having and using these abilities and refuse to adapt to the new warrior playstile.
let them kitten and moan, they have all the stuff available needed to counter warriors but are refusing to use them. hopefully anet see’s this and does nothing about warrior.

noticed this on my engineer, my normal hobopack sits fine against my back, switch to elixir gun the back not only floats about a heads width from my toons back but it is also right above her head, I’ll include pics at some point coz it looks kittenedly daft.
I kill them all the time with a berserker build, 30 30 5 5 0.
I have Npc names and off player names on, that helps spot them if they already popped clones.
the extra range on LB helps if u see them first. Pets usually return to attacking the Mesmer after they de-stealth as long as u don’t attack another target/clone
interrupt after they used some abilities because chances are they gonna try n re-stealth and channel #2 LB as much as possible because this will destroy them in or out of stealth.
Dodge incoming clones and if the fight goes pair shaped, or he is shatter bombing switch to GS turn run with sword #4 blocking hits, Escape then #3 to swoop 1200 units away, return for round 2 if u feel like it.

Two competitors are in the horizon with The Elder Scrolls Online and Camelot Unchained. Some of their early development videos talk specifically about their engines and the ability to keep the FPS up via large player battles. It’s almost as if they are responding to the major player base gripes of GW2, hehe.
both of those game will have subscription fee’s… this one doesnt.
you have to remember that when talking about MMO’s with laggy pvp, even daoc had terrible lag in big battles and that was going strong till wow appeared on the scene.
the fact u get all of the content and pretty kitten good pvp wvw for 1 price is crazy good value for money, it might take longer for fixes because of this but i would rather not spend and extra 120+ quid a year on the chance of quicker fixes.
because lets face it bugs in subscription mmo’s aren’t fixed particularly quickly either.
so 3 days and no word on what this is or how to fix this?

since mid June I have been getting this error after roughly 2 hours of play regardless of zone or character. After i get the disconnect this error follows and i cant log in for near 10+ minutes because i get past character select and the error continues to pop up.
I would do a check the damage on the dummies in lion’s arch, it might just be a case of tool tip not updating.
has happened before so wouldn’t surprise me, does the same for grenades radius.
if the engy is runing bomb tools and nades then they have no stunbreaker or serious condi removal themselves, not sure if that helps or not but it may sway your playstile if it is available to you to pile on the conditions
i’m assuming the dude was using condi damage + duration food?

I took the burn on crits from bomber line too, but didnt take the kick for the burn took it for the knockback since it works when KD’d i boost out from under those pesky hammertime warriors
but the kick + burn + discharge isnt too shabby close up

a full crit thief with a condi/regen/bunker in wvw?
I began my engy a long time ago and have tried a lot of different specs and now settled on pistol shield bunker type build.
I usually run with medkit or turret toolkit rocket boots and elixir gun, its a decent support setup for zergy action and i thought i was tough enough to handle most thing until today.
I’m usually on about 1750 toughness with about 21k hp 600 ish condi damage and roughly 400 healing but today a thief hit me with a backstab for 6.5k and then proceeded to beat me down very quickly regardless of my knock backs (x2) blocks(x2) or evades.
so my question is, how do we beat them? is it even possible to compete with that kind of damage with more toughness or healing?
not whining or crying for nurfs i just wanna know how i can improve my toon to be able to do better
any tips would be appreciated
are the retaliation hits considered hits to proc vampiric traits?
would be interesting if they did, might test it tomorrow if no one knows

I’m trying to use this build but i cant seem to get my crit higher than 26% without dropping a lot of hit points
i considered moving points into radiance but the first minor talent would be detrimental to having a lot of retaliation procs, misses = no returned damage so I’m kinda stumped.
any advice would be extremely helpful coz i been over this a lot over the last few days and just cant seem to suss it out

I was using this spec last night in wvw, the pet was having a ball, i on the other hand was standing about watching and giggling a bit. I do think the guard getting inside keeps is gonna get fixed though, coz it is pretty OP’d with this setup. Totally hilarious but still I think its considered an exploit.

I would like to see 50% aoe reduction and evade on 3rd strike from auto attack just like the great sword, this would help loads with survivability in dungeons.
also the F2 abilities not rooting the pet to face one direction, and a fix on the pets range when using F2. instead of the pet running in and getting gibbed before it finishes firing the skill if the skill has range on it then the pet should use it at the range is has, drake comes to mind especially when I’m talking about this.
