Have you given up yet on new rewards?

Yup I’ve given up. I’m grateful we got some dev love, but it feels like it missed the mark. Wvw is the only real game mode I still play in gw2. It was nice to see multiple map Qs in wood league. shininess is already wearing off tho. The grind to cap tickets weekly was too high imo. I was ok with the timegate for the rewards, but I don’t have the drive to play wvw 20+ hrs a week anymore.

Its a 24/7 game mode. You can’t expect it to be fair and balanced, especially in lower tiers. Communities used to be able to recruit to fill weak coverage, but with so many communities dying allot of the “off hours” players are migrating to higher tiers. At this point why do you even care about the score? There’s no rewards for wining, there’s no epic shiny wvw loot. If you are so bothered by the score move to servers/tiers that support that, or enjoy your smaller fights in lower tiers.

Its time to abandon your closed door policy on development and engage your wvw community. Many of us waited for the blog post this year hoping you would shine some light on the changes you had in mind. Only to have the quick fixes mentioned in December parroted back at us.

Its pretty unreasonable for you to expect us to hang around till the 4th quarter of 2016 playing a broken game mode. Without even an inkling of whats to come. I understand you don’t like to make promises and you shouldn’t. There needs to be a bit of back and forth tho, or you can continue pouring development into more features/changes that the bulk of the wvw player base don’t want.

You should show us your cards now. Tell us the changes you want to make now and let us react to it. Give our feedback before you’ve spent the better part of the year putting time and resources into it. Slapping the word “Beta” on a couple of week ends we get access to almost 2 years worth of development before you ship it anyway, is PR BS that wont fly anymore.

I don’t really think its possible for the Devs to be as clueless as you would need to be to let wvw fall into the state its currently in. It just screams kittene management to me. We have the famous quote of “If you’re into to wvw you’re really into pve” coming from management. I prefer to think most of the devs that wvw have their hands tied. I mean so many great ideas to improve wvw have been posted here. Some really kittene ones too, but they can’t of missed them all.

If you’re metric show that I’m regularly farming pve its to pay for my wvw habbit not because I enjoy it.

I’m pretty sure they have been working on some form of the leak we saw not too long ago. Even if they have a good concept for the alliance, and the balance is good Im not sure it will come in time. Maybe if it had come a year ago. Most of the wvw focused guilds have moved on. Right now wvw is a pvx paradise because they are they only ones that can keep up with the grind.

They had something that really could have been something. Sadly they neglected it for too long. Many I talked to were looking for HoT to be the great revival and now that’s clearly not happening have moved on for good.

Honestly at this point I don’t think anything anet can or will do will revive wvw. We had some good times, and good fights

We told you the new bl was bad, you pushed it anyway.

We had concerns about auto upgrades, you pushed it anyway.

We told you we wanted less pve in wvw, you gave us more.

We told you we wanted more incentive to defend, you gave us ridiculously expensive guild upgrades and tactics. That require us to grind pve…

Please anet explain to me why you think I should wait 6+ months for this big update when you wont even talk to us about it. WvW is kittening garbage right now I can’t even bring myself to log on. The combat system and my server community, were the last two things keeping me playing. The current meta with banners is trash. I wanted to test my guilds skills against other guilds not see who grinds carebear land harder. Hopefully I’ll see some of you in Crowfall or CU because its become apparent the WvW most of us were looking for wont be happening.

lol all these nerds that still think ppt matters. Nightcapping doesn’t exist! If your server has coverage gaps its on your community to recruit, and fill those gaps. If your server isn’t organized enough to do so, move to one that is. Tiers 1-3 are pretty much locked in place. What place you finish the week in hardly matters. There’s no rewards for wining, and who cares about bragging rights after months of the same stale match ups. This is a non issue.

A plea to the devs- Get rid of auto upgrades

The upgrades don’t need to be automatic to prevent trolling. Right now they’re tiered, there’s no reason they can’t stay that way.

So you flip a tower, head to the npc start the upgrade. You are only given the option of T1 upgrade. So we lose the choice of rushing wp over gate/walls, but it can’t be trolled.

Right now upgrades are on a timer I’d like to see it change to upgrade requires x number dollies. Supply is left separate doesn’t affect the upgrade.

So you can flip your keep tower whatever pop the upgrades and move on to the camps to secure that supply. In and around camps are where most of the BL roaming took place. This would ensure there’s people there to kill.

This would also somewhat prevent home BL from being fully upgraded during weak time zones. Enemy group can still pop upgrades but if they don’t hang around to secure supply the process will stall.

They changed it from the old system because they were demanded to do so by posters here. Before, it could be trolled by supply trolls.

I am not certain why so many posters are in favor of a system that was heavily trolled.

Why were you not championing the cause when we had multiple threads spammed with demands to change the system to prevent those game breaking trolls?

Keep the upgrade tiers like they are now. Keep the no cost to kick it off, but make sure it has to be done manually. That way it can’t be trolled. It removes some of the control but I think its a good middle ground. Make supply mater again. It was nice to split it so you could use the supply without hampering the up grade. I think that each tier of upgrades should require X number of yaks, while still leaving supply for use. That way you have supply to build/repair, and yaks and supply lines become important again. Couple of small changes that would go a long way to bring back the feeling of contribution that my small havok/scouting guild lost with this update.

I can agree that the old yaks were a pain to try and defend with thieves poppin up and 2 shotting them. The new yaks are much tankier. The whole point was you needed to keep your supply lines to keep your stuff. You can say its melodramatic but its happening. Why bother rushing to defend garri’s waypoint when all you need to do is flip it back and boom waypoint. At least this is what I’m seeing on my server.

Seeing lots of negative feedback about the new map. While I don’t particularly enjoy it, I feel the auto upgrades, and no supply required changes have hurt the BLs worse. EBG has always been pug life and the BLs were always more guild focused but I’m not seeing any guild activity outside of the K-train guilds. I don’t think the pve is new and shiny explanation holds up anymore. Am I alone on this? What do you folks think?

Honestly Id be willing to give the new bl a shot if they reverted the auto upgrade no supply required, and removed the gimmicks. No one wants to defend our bl, and why would they. When you can just cap stuff back after the RI wears off and boom waypoint restored. No work involved in upgrades means no one values them. The cost removal was awesome I just wish they had stopped there.

I really feel that their design philosophy of not sharing anything with us until its so far along in the development doesn’t work for wvw. Those of you that think you were actually beta testing on those beta weekends are delusional. They were promotional weekends to build hype. Sure maybe some minor things were able to be tweaked from feedback, but it was way too late in the development process to make any meaningful changes for HoT.

I’ve spent a little time in the desert now. Enough to notice some things I like, and some things I don’t. Now this is coming from the perspective of someone who does a little of everything. I have a small guild that in the past would look after home bl kick off upgrades chase down enemy camp flippers and call out to any active group when we saw numbers we weren’t able to deal with. I’m also part of a guild that’s mostly about the fights. I have done some gvg in the past and hoping to do more with the new guild arenas!

Things I like:

The map size! I know this isn’t a popular opinion but hear me out. The Alpine BL always felt a little small to me. I didn’t really like that all you needed to do was chuck a couple siege disables to stall for the grp you called to rush from a waypointed garri. BL defense will require more organization and I think that’s a good thing. I think right now they also feel bigger due to not being populated. Hoping next reset changes this.

The new map is also gorgeous I think the artists did a really nice job with!!

No cost upgrades!! This was amazing a much needed change thank you so much!!

The new keep and tower designs. At first I thought they were a bit big, but starting looking at them with larger fights in mind. With the new size there’s more room to maneuver and gives more options than stacking the top of the stairs.

The things I don’t like:

Automatic Upgrades I was leery when I first heard about this, and after seeing it in action I’m not a fan. First off Its taken away allot of the impact my small havok/scouting had or at least the feeling of impact. I know scouting will still be required I just feel less people will be inclined to rally to the defense if its just going to upgrade it’s self again. I can see them just hopping back to flip it after its paper. Also I play in T3 so its not a ghost town of a server but there are still coverage gaps between the server here. Before If you wanted to waypoint and enemy keep it took some effort now its all done for you. Coming back from a weak coverage time slot to find your bl isn’t very encouraging.

The lessened importance of supply on up grades. I don’t like this at all!! I like the idea of being able to grab supply and not have to worry about the current upgrade but this was too much. Would have like to see each upgrade tier require X number of yaks to complete and still had the supply available for repairs/siege. Seeing stuff fully upgrade just because there is no one to flip it back is silly.

The center event. Its just too much for small groups to deal with the amount of gate repairs needed is just a pain. It’s a great way to troll. Also its boring as sin to complete.

Could we get a small delay before gyros becomes self destructible. I’m finding that they are exploding as I pull them out. Before someone calls me out for spamming skills, that’s not whats happening here. I use the side buttons on my naga hex for utility/elite skills even if I’m super careful activating them they explode most of the time. I don’t have this issue with overcharging turrets. Also loving the hammer!!

I think this is a big part of what puts me off the Tempest. Allot of our weapon skills are watered down because we have access to 4 sets. Having to sit in attunements so long with 3/4 of the auto attacks being pretty worthless and our 2-5 skills being weaker and or on longer cd than other classes kits. On top of that even If I’m not cc’d during the overload, have I really gained anything that I couldn’t have done better attunement dancing on vanilla ele?

You can blame eotm devolving into a giant ktrain mess on the player base, but ktraining provides all the shinies. There is still no incentive to defend and winning the match get you nothing. Its the whole path of least resistance thing.

Some people like to roam, some people like to defend, some people like to fight zergs. I myself like to do all 3. Why can’t we have it all? I’m all for making it harder for zergs to be effective. Does this mean we can’t have some open field on the new map for those that like to fight open field? Maybe there is plenty of open field, all the video footage we’ve seen so far has been pretty focused on the objectives. Honestly wish Anet would just give us a proper tour of the map.

I don’t think that is a fair or accurate statement to make. They are trying new things here, not all of them are going to work. Also these things take time I get that. We gamers aren’t known for our patience either. Now having said that it doesn’t mean I’m not frustrated. WvW is my favored game type and I would love to see it get all the things, but I’m also realistic and know Anet has to pay the bills.

I think it would be good for Anet to clear the air and let us know where they would like to take wvw or not take it. I don’t want dates but It would be nice to know whether or not any changes may be coming down the pipe.

I love wvw! I think it has amazing potential. I would really like to know how the devs themselves feel about it and what they would like to see it develop into.

well letting all your structures get taken means you have no ppt anyway. It would lessen the run away points spread some. If your the weaker server in the match up it gives incentive for the 2 stronger servers to fight each other. Rather than stomping the weaker server.

Keep everything that it already has. Players with outnumbered no longer drop loot bags for opposing players. On maps when you have the outnumbered your structures and worth 1/2 their original ppt. So your bl or your servers corner of EB

Would we not have been better off with with the skins and maybe ascended weapons/armor being added to wvw without the season? They don’t need to make them easy to get could lock them behind min wxp ranks. All this has done is stack the servers harder making competition more unbalanced.

I like the idea of being forced to take a tower to be able to move further in a map. Imagine Cliffside was build over the z ramp and you had to go through it to get up there. It would make running the zerg past defended targets to hit softer ones harder.

Again simple make the vision and lesser vision crystals trade able. Anet keeps their time gate. People that would rather profit off the timegate material can do so. All trade skills can craft a full set in the same time frame.

An easy way to fix this would be to remove the time gate on the leather/metal/cloth and replace it with a 4-5 day CD on the vision and lesser vision crystal.

Also try playing a warrior with the weapon sets you struggle against. Play around in the mist, do a cpl hot joins. Once you get used to what the warrior is working with makes it allot easier to anticipate what hes likely to throw at you.

wvw staff ele is in a good place this is true as long as you stay with the herd. My main issue is that the devs have been using comparisons like mine to justify shuffling our traits around. I’m just wondering how they can then justify a stronger trait being in a lower tier for a different class.

I play both warrior an ele in most aspects of the game and I can’t help but notice the warrior seems to be in a better position. For a mere 15 points they get access to Dogged March, Adrenal Health, and Healing Signet. This gives them very good passive healing I might even go as far as say its better than ele’s active healing because they can keep the pressure on. Now why does a class with the highest hp/armor warrant healing as good or better than the ele? While still having 55 trait points to spend how they please. To be able to keep up I’m forced to take Healing Ripple, Elemental Attunement, and Evasive Arcana taking up 45 of my 70 trait points.

Honestly I don’t even think more defensive traits in fire, air,or earth will make much difference. Attunement dancing are class skill offers little to no defense outside of Arcane and water.

I have to be honest here I not really seeing anything that would pull me from water/arcane. Any time I try a build without Healing ripple, Elemental Attunement, or Evasive Arcana I find there’s no sustain. Diamond skin looks gimmicky and wont do anything to stop power/crit builds from wrecking us. Fire still looks bad outside of pve.

We don’t have the mobility or the defenses that other classes do. No stealth, no clones, no death shroud. Our defense mechanic is healing without those 3 traits we have very little access to it.

I see it now thanks for pointing it out. Never really paid much attention to dailies they have a tendency to complete themselves. First time I got burned by it I guess.

I’m stuck at 13/14 for the meta achieve but everything is completed. I was having the 23/24 shard problem till after this last build. Wondering if that may have been the cause?
