There’s always stupid elitists who clear the most long term goals in days. As far as casuals go, indeed this game is aimed at casuals. Check the manifesto…

Why would we check that? As far as I have seen everything in it is a flat out lie to sell more boxes

Just checked, the Inquest in that area are on a shorter respawn timer (30-60s) but there’s nothing that respawns in 10s. I checked all of the troll spawns in Hezran Outcrops, and they’re using the 95-120s respawn timer, so my above comment applies. (Could another player have run through and killed them before you got there, so they respawned after you go there? Could trolls in a different area have been killed, so when they respawned and randomly picked a new position, they ended up appearing near you?) I couldn’t find anything that respawns in 10-30s, and nothing forces them to respawn.

It’s not other players. The mob you just killed will respawn on that exact spot before the corpse even hits the ground. If your timers in teh DB are set to 95-120 then there is something wrong with the code using those timers.

Edit to add that I do not agree that speccing into a more hybrid build over DPS hurts the group. If you have others that are more focused on DPS you will need someone to off set that to make the activity you are trying to complete go a little smoother. I think that can be the difference in doing a dungeon run and killing the boss with rez spamming over killing the boss with tactics and not dying over and over agian.

True, but there is a point in both directions that will make you a detriment to your team. Either by doing so little DPS the boss takes forever to kill or destroys the party outright, or by having so little survivabilty that you are downed often making people spend less time doing DPS and more time keeping you alive. The longer the fights take the more chance one of their kitten 1 shot abilities will land on at least one member, due to either running out of dodges or a miss timed evade by someone.

My point was that ALL players need to balance this. A single character over speccing in heal/support to make up for glass cannon builds, will NOT keep them alive in group content. IS there a pretty wide range in the middle? sure. But all players MUST be in the middle in one way or another.

so sick of people threatening users with " troll posts will be reported" as for the most part thats opinionated…I might make a legitimate response with satire included according to my personality that others might deem a “troll post” seriously if u have a question ask, its whats the forums are for, but get over yourself when it comes to adding in the last part…

On subject, it is most likely timed, Anet is trying to punish bots and reward casuals a bit more…It seems they want you to grind less and enjoy other parts of the game. Also the longer it takes you to complete a task, the longer they can keep you around. I dont see the DR being edited anytime soon, my best suggestion would be to take a break.

Anything the fanbois don’t agree with is a troll post.
Satire, Fact, opinion or otherwise….

It harms normal players more than bots. Bots don’t get bored, and it doesn’t matter if it takes them 1 hour 1 day or 1 month to get the drops. As long as they are the primary source they still control the market. And they are, because like i said, DR hurts us more than them. we humans get bored, frustrated, and either log or go to the TP with our measley 4-5 gold it tooks us days to get and buy what we can.

I don’t get any loot worth a kitten and I never stay inthe same spot farming. I hop zones, run through and move on. I do dungeons/dragons and get blues if I’m lucky. Been that way since I started.

Holy Trinity Contradiction

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

kendokken.3257

The trinity isn’t there, no matter what you believe.

All they really did was remove the option to even play Trinity roles and not give us anythign else to use in it’s place. Instead they simply implemented a single role and we all fulfill only that one role. DPS.
Don’t get me wrong, all classes have some utilites, but they are used on top of your dps. Hence why they are usually also damage abilities with the utility tacked on top.

There is no way to tank in this game. I don’t care how you build or what class you are or even if you think you are a tank for your team. Bunker builds can take some damage, but even the AI will ignore them most of the time. Without aggro management tools there will never be a tank in this game.

The healing is abysmal in this game. Again I don’t care how you build you will never be a healer (as defined by Trinity style games) that can keep your team going through hell and back. You can spec to HELP your team, but if they are built full on DPS you aren’t saving them<period>

Also Overspeccing a character in either defense or support will actually be a detriment to your teams survival, YOU HAVE TO BUILD HYBRID for any of the group content. To me it’s a bad design, and I’m no fan of the trinity. But 1 option(hybrid) is certainly not better than than 4(trinity +hybrid) in other games.

People play games to be entertained. But they will, as any previous MMO has tought us, do the most kitten and boring things for the best gear, even if they hate doing it. (and just FYI that is bad game design because players eventually get sick of being forced to do crap that they hate just to get the best in slot gear)

Sadly Orr zones have neither of these. It’s the complete opposite of fun and the rewards are total crap on top of that. In point of fact this can be said about any champ fight, dragons and most of the rest of the game except fractals, which still are not fun but at least have the loot still (until Anet nerfs that too)

Terribly sorry to hear your guild failed. Maybe you should join an active one?

Mine is doing great. 60-100 people logged on at any given time, generally up to 250 people a day (btw, you can check the daily logins under the transaction tab on the guild pane)

We run dungeons, do some WvW, lots of events, and people working on their legendaries. I can’t hardly keep up with gchat these days.

The game is still young. As it continues to add MORE FREE CONTENT and MORE FEATURES each and every month FOR FREE, it’s going to be (as Angry Joe said) the nail in the coffin for paid subscription models.

no it’s not, this game offers nothing that monthly fee mmos offer.

What do you mean?

What do I get extra with monthly fee MMOs (like WoW)? End game Raids and grinding for gear? Is that it? Feeling like you have to log on every day to do Dailies to get your $15 worth?

GW2 has the same (or better) leveling, crafting, questing/hearts, events, exploration, guilds, trading post/AH, etc, etc. that WoW (or other monthly sub MMOs have).

So, what do you mean?

Cheers.

read the op, why do you think his 30 guild mates quit and went back to other games? why have so many others reported guilds losing majority of members back to other games?

Because all those thigns actually work in the other MMOs. GW2 may have all (or most)of that but 90% of it is bugged or completely broken.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kendokken.3257

kendokken.3257

There is a option you have to change for tab to target “closest” enemy, I have auto targeting turned off because it does randomly like to target a mob for odd reasons (like changing attunements on elemental)

My biggest issue atm, is for some odd reason right clicking targets npcs/players/mobs…other players havent said they shared this problem, but my mouse doesnt have this issue outside of game or in other games…This issue is annoying when turning the camera in both pve/pvp

IT’s not your mouse. It happens to me all the time on Right clicking. Even mousing over something with right mouse held down while moving the camera around will randomly switch targets sometimes.

Camera controls should have never been attached to targeting. That’s was just plain idiocy.

Trinity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

kendokken.3257

Removing the Trinity wasn’t a bad move on Anets part.
Not replacing it with anything however was.
It’s like saying “We want to be different so bad, that we are going to remove the ability for players to hit mobs. So now you can all just stand around and look intensely at them and hope for the best”
snap!! I’m going to make an MMO based on Men Who Stare at Goats now.

Random aggro and subpar healing just makes for a big cluster-F during fights. Which also means no fight is ever going to be truly challenging. They will just add another million HPs so the fight takes another 10 minutes of boring gameplay.

Autotargeting is frustrating.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kendokken.3257

kendokken.3257

TAB-targeting is just as bad. Hit TAB expecting to target the mob right in front of you, the one that’s beating on you with its sword, and – NO! – you target the opponent at max range that was ignoring you and add another opponent to the fight.

In my opinion, this game is still in BETA… Maybe that’s what happens with a non-subscription business model.

Sad part is, I changed my tab target hotkey to Target Nearest and it STILL targets kitten off my screen and/or at max range. I’d say it even feels more like Alpha than Beta at times.

Queues for WvW in primetime.

Overflow in Lions Arch during holiday event? :O Praise Balthazar.

Overflow everyday in Lion’s Arch. Holiday or not. Been that way for MONTHS

Your “the game is dead” posts would be better served on the forums of another game….one that has a subscription and hundreds of dead servers maybe?

Of course LA is always in Overflow. That’s where everyone is standing around waiting for a group to run fractals.
For a company that claims to want to be different they did the one thing to ensure they weren’t. I.E. They put an instanced dungeon grind in the busiest city possible and nerfed the hell out of the open world to ensure no one ever leaves that city other than to enter their instance.

The usual what is known for ages now:
Thief class, culling, nightcapping, lack of rewards, small maps, no variety, lack of ladders etc etc…..oh most important: the developer thinks we dont exist atall.

Plus: the 1million and 1 bugs (which admittedly effect more than WvW), and, The zergfest PvDoor setup of it.

It’s not fun, it’s not rewarding, basically it’s just another boring kitten grind in a game taht was touted as having no grind (ROFLMAO that we all fell for that one)

Skipping getting out of hand

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

kendokken.3257

The only way they are going to fix it is to put some decent loot/drop rates on mobs .

Considering Anet does nothing but nerf loot/drop rates I don’t see that happening anytime in the near (or far off for that matter) future.

This is a symptom not the underlying problem.
People skip everything they can for a reason. That reason is, they are tired of doing boring gameplay (dumb-as-rocks mobs with kittentons of HP) for pretty much no reward. Which is not limited to just dungeons btw.

This is ridiculous.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

kendokken.3257

The story modes suck. I did AC and SE on 1 of my 5chars that are level 80 and haven’t touched another story mode in any dungeon since.

Explorables are the only ones worth doing and they get repetative and boring well before you get the complete gear set from them.

Just go to LA and browse the vendors, preview the items and see which ones you need to run explorables on.
Until Anet does something to make dungeons more interesting than jsut killing the same mob with crap AI but a billion HPs (because everyone knows that makes fights difficult) there’s no point to be in there other than the gear tokens anyway.

Hell my Ele has never done any dungeons, because all her gear has the beginner armor skins transmuted onto them anyway.

Your preferred drop rates

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kendokken.3257

kendokken.3257

IMO the drop rate for <80 mats should be ALOT higher. I never understood the reasoning behind making players speed throughthe 1-80 levels and REDUCING the drop rates to near 0. Players should be gathering enoughmats to at least make their own gear in 1 craft profession possibly even both of your chosen professions. There is no reason for the crafted gear to be cheaper to buy than the mats to make it. Now at level 80 (or whatever the current cap is) that changes because you are not out leveling the gear anymore. In GW2 it’s compounded by the fact that crafting the gear will sometimes make you outlevel the gear you just crafted before even setting foot outside of town to use it.

Also I despise RNG, and in GW2 even more so because this game seems to have a 1:100000 chance of actually getting a useable drop. (FYI devs, blues and an occasional green are not even close to useable drops at 80, hell even rares are only good for salvage at 80 most of the time)

I won’t even bother killing champs/dragons let alone normal mobs in this game unless they are tied to an event because I have a better chance of winning the super lotto.

And I certainly wouldn’t spend a dime on the GemStore (other than char slots), with everything being RNG. Only a fool would give them money for an RNG box.

In short, the drop rate for getting something useful should be approx. equal to the amount of time it takes to gather karma/tokens to buy a useable item. Right now it is at least 100x faster to get the tokens to buy a piece than to ever see one from a drop. in fact the only exotics I’ve ever gotten (on 5 level 80s) outside of zone completion rewarsd is from karma/tokens. I’ve seen very few rares drop from mobs but not a single exotic, useful or otherwise.

I don't like Champions that One-hit kill you

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kendokken.3257

kendokken.3257

Please make Champions worth doing at all. Why bother with them when there’s so many other ways to get crappy drops and XP and Karma?

I’ll second this. With these stupid mechanics combined with the worthless rewards, they simply aren’t worth the time it takes to down them, let alone the repair and respawn costs.

And to all the people saying just to dodge it. It can’t always be dodged, even the ones you see coming and press your dodge key still hit you 50% of the time because dodge is bugged and won’t always move you.

But bugs they will never fix )because they are too busy ‘fixing’ crap that doesn’t need fixed or figuring out more ways to get people to spend money on the gem store) aside, these stupid mechanics only detract from the games entertainment value anyway so shouldn’t be there.

Healing in GW2: How to.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kendokken.3257

kendokken.3257

People don’t say it because there are no classes with healing abilites.
They say it because your healing for roughly 2k and being hit for 15-20k in the same amount of time.
Sure it helps survivability while leveling, and sometimes in some of the minor fights in dungeons. But most of the longer fights (the ones where healing should actually matter) it doesn’t come anywhere near keeping up with the damage output.

So you just pray that your buggy dodge doesn’t fail or that you don’t get a root/charge/mega bomb combo to your face while your 30+sec cooldown cond removal is on cooldown because of condition spamming mobs. Or that the mobs don’t have some lame 10+ second flame thrower ability that can’t be dodged. Or some Lame knockdown spam they have that says you block but you still end up on your kitten for 5-10secs….. or any of the other hundred mechanics they gave bosses that seem to be immune to every ability we have.

Tank and heal without the trinity

in Suggestions

Posted by: kendokken.3257

kendokken.3257

Guardian is tank and healer…?

Umm… no

No class can tank in this game because it’s impossible to force a mob to attack you and only you.

The only way to play this game is for EVERYONE to realize they can’t stack pure damage stats because eventually they will get the mobs attention and in Dungeons or Champ fights that usually means dying in 1 hit when your dodge ineveitably fails Either because of the bug that dodges but doesn’t actually move you and wastes your energy, or the (i’m assuming bug) that lets these bosses hit you in mid dodge roll or knock you down even when it says you blocked.

I don’t mind so much the lack of trinity what bugs me is the fact that anyone can actually die in just 1 hit, mobs with 2 million+ HPs and immune to damn near anything but straight up damage that take forever to whittle down, and the CC on every damn thing you fight. It doesn’t add any real ‘challenge’ to the game it just makes fights long and boring.

Overall the combat in this game is more annoying than fun most of the time. And to top it off the loot sucks for pretty much everything you do now. Well done Anet. I hope the few people left playing will pump all kinds of money into that RNG kittenhole of a cashshop you created.

The areas become contested again almost as fast as you clear them. The general respawn rate, combined with the constant CC from every single mob in these zones, is utterly ridiculous . The loot just flat out sucks for the time invested, and I have almost zero use for Karma because every karma vendor I check has worthless and ugly garbage on it, so no stats and not even a decent skin.

I’m really not into bashing my head into a wall just for entertainments sake, despite what you may have heard.

Conclusion: there is just no point in wasting my gaming time in those zones.

Yeah, I’d say Guild Wars 2 is nothing like Diablo. Diablo falls into the old Gauntlet style games, where up to four players run through rooms, killing hordes of enemies and collecting loot.

Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG.

sorry, you’re right. That 5th player in the room makes all the difference…

GW2 does have a little better ‘lobby’ than Diablo though I’ll give them that. (hint: their open world, or in the case of level 80 Lions Arch outside the door to Fractals)

There is still absolutley NO Role Playing in this Game though so RPG doesn’t apply. I would also love to see companies quit using the name RPG just to sell titles.

FYI Diablo wasn’t even an RPG no matter how hard they try to sell it as one.

It’s basically the same as me slapping mercedes/porsche/ferrari/etc… tags on some Hondas and selling all these lemmings a brand new Mercedes!!

Skimpier? – Some of the outfits already border on nudity. It looks silly in a warzone to see people dressed like this

I’m glad that asura and charr females wear their male counterparts clothing. Tends to come with better protection against stabbing, burning, corrosives, shooting explosions…

I disagree. it looks silly to watch people in warzones get shot by guns, canons and fireballs and walk away with barely a scratch.
But given that is the case, wearing a full covering shirt of CLOTH or even leather certainly isn’t helping your odds of survival when getting shot but any of those. Even full plate wouldn’t stand up to most of that and even be a liability against things like fire and electric attacks.
Hence the reason our soldiers don’t wear them today. Their basic uniforms are made to protect them mostly from the environment. And unless we can get balistic ceramic/kevlar armor in game your point is null and void. And even that is only put ovver the vital areas.
Also, the greeks and Romans seemed to do fine wearing little armor. They even managed to take over most of the known world at their time.

I did the socializing thing ALOT when i was younger, and I learned one thing. The human race isn’t worth socializing with. 99% of them are kitten that I wouldn’t waste a second thought on. After many MANY years I have a VERY few close friends that I trust with my life. And I no longer have the need, or patience, to weed through the rest to find any more.

Also, your cause and effect doesn’t hold water. First video games are no where near softcore porn.
Second I could just as easily say if the world had less stupid people in it it might get more gamers out from behind their monitors. (and probably be more accurate than your assertation)

I think there are and will be plenty of options both ways.

ha, i bought the duelist exotic chest and legs and Transmuted to a brand new thief.

Before you say anything else, please say at the top of your post if you like Dungeons better or the open world better in GW2 (well, do what you want but I hope you at least consider answering this before you give your opinions/comments/explanations thanks!)

I’d have to say I like open world in GW2 better than the dungeons. Not exclusively because of dynamic events- which I do like- but just the overall experience of exploring and running around the big world of Tyria.

My enjoyment of the open world has taken a hit with some of the recent changes, but I still love the world and the music and the way everything looks.

Dungeons are fun, especially when I do them with friends. For me, they aren’t as fun as the open world + exploration etc.

I think I explained it best to a friend a while back… no matter what plans I have or how much I want to complete a zone 100% that particular day, I can still just get swept away and run off into a neighboring zone and go explore and find a bunch of fun things. I enjoy being a leaf carried by wherever the Tyrian winds take me :P

oh and, Skrittsburg caught me totally off guard I loved discovering that place (and a lot of other places too).

Typically dungeons in most MMOs. But hte dungeons in this game are just flat out boring. Even the first time through, so na way i’m running them ad-naseum to get tokens like most games require.

Exactly this.
And I’m convinced that everything they are doing now is to not only sell more copies, but to try to get all the people that already bought to stop playing so they can reduce their bandwidth expenses.

Seriously they made their money off of you all now go away!!

I believe this because that’s the only reason I can think of for changing the basis of the entire game (horizontal to vertical progression). They know dam well that it’s 2 different demographics. The only explanation is that they don’t give 2 kittens about their origianl demographic because there are no sub fees, and now they can sell another few million box copies to a new demographic.

And the Gem store doesn’t make up for it. Hell I won’t even buy anything (other than char slots with gems from gold) because everydamn thing in there is a lotto RNG piece of kitten grab bag and you can’t even buy what you want. Just kitten up the cash and pray you get what you want from the RNG. For real money? HELL NO!!!

I think you are proving the OP’s point. That is just how a party of glass cannon warriors fight bosses. People that know better will be done in 5.

No his point was about warriors face planting constantly. I rarely do. But in PUGs I see a constant stream of Thiefs, mesmers, warlocks, eles, etc.. running back from the waypoints 3-4 times per boss beacuase they can’t take even 1 hit from the ridiculous bosses. 20k+ damage and 2 million+ HP is just a kitten way to design Boss “fights”.

I’d rather have reasonably tuff bosses that require some tactics and thought, but if you failed you were done for the day, than the completely laughable ‘content’ these are.
In most MMOs I love running dungeons and do even the older ones just for fun. In this game I’ll run exactly the ones i need for the armor skins I want and never set foot in them again. There is simply nothing remotely challenging or fun about them.

5 signet/zerker warriors everywhere

Most of my items are zerker, a few toughness/vitality. I run 4 signets+great justice. I don’t have much problems with dying constantly. Although it does happen when dodge fails (50%) and I get 1 shot by the boss.

I’ve tried other builds, but the cooldowns on condition removers are way to long for me to give up a passive signet. Especially when the mobs spam those conditions (including stun, knockdown, etc..). When i did use the other skills this is how the fights went.
Stun: use break
knockback —> SOL
start getting up, get hit with a daze

Get some bleeds and a poison on you
Shake it off (by the way the signet removes ALL conditions so it’s better anyway)
.0005 secs later get another stack of bleeds on you, and probably knocked down again just for giggles)

It’s just not worth it.

With Dodge and most other movement abilities (charges, jump backs, etc..) being broken and not firing off, or leaving you standing in the same spot after, none of that other crap matters anyway.
Besides Anets concept of ‘fun’ combat is waypoint zerging the bosses continuously until you wear through their stupid amounts of HP 15 minutes later.

Anet just needs to fix their dam game before there’s no one left to optimize the builds anyway.

Signet can not be used as a stun breaker therefor your argument for it is failing considering you mention knock down a lot which the signet does not help you with. The signet removes all conditions once every 40secs. Shake it off removes 1 condition and 1 stun breaker every 20secs. So by your arguement about daze and knockdown “shake it off” is the better option. I run Signet of Regen, banner of tactics (full traited), “Shake it Off”, “For Great Justice”, and Signet of Rage. My armour is Power/Toughness/Vit, with my accessories being Healing/Power/Toughness.

I battle in WvW on the side of Stormbluff and i am one tough warrior. I am one of the warriors that charge into large groups of enemies and able to live through it. I use a Sword/Shield, Axe/Shield, Hammer, and rifle (I switch out the sword, axe, Hammer based on the situation i am going to be facing).

My point was I QUIT using Shake it off and went back to the signet because the cooldown took longer than the stun/CC spam. So I’f i’m going to get CC’d constantly anyway (mostly because dodge is broke) I might as well remove all OTHER conditions instead of just 1 at a time.

Personally I can’t stand CC in games. Removing control of your character adds nothing to the game and only frustrates players.
I can’t believe some idiot dev actually put it on EVERY single mob in this game and topped it off by letting the mobs spam it. Actually I can belive some idiot dev had that idea, but I can’t believe it got approved to be added as ‘gameplay’.

Why so many Guardians/Warriors? :O

Even with a very defensive set-up, my guard has better kill-speed than my ranger.

And nothing can match a warrior for kill-speed.

Both are strong professions, and heavy armor looks pretty good. A common misconception is that armor value is a lot more for heavy. Unlike most fantasy games, here the diff between tiers is about 10%.

My ele will outdamage my war any day of the week. So that is completely false. And in most cases will out survive teh warrior as well.
That said it was ALOT harder to master playing the Ele than the Warrior.

Wars and Guards are just easy to pick up and play with. Both are good classes but I think alot of peopel are butt-hurt over them for some reason and like to reguritate some nonsense they heard on the internet about them being OP.

If Anet would get off their kitten and fix the mountain of bugs that plague this game, many other classes would be alot more powerful than either of those without having to buff anything about them.

I laugh at any attempt to make GW2 GotY! The game is nowhere near the hype. The story is a joke written by a school child and the voice acting is the worst I have ever seen in a game.
I was watching one of those text to speech videos on YTube the other day and I swear it sounded just like my human warrior!
It seems to me the whole thing feels rushed and poorly executed in so many areas. But they had YEARS to make it.

Not to mention bug ridden.

dodge roll

I’d be happy if they just fixed it so it worked 100% of the time. Right now it fails to do anything 50% of the time. And most of the time even when you do roll the enemies attack just follows you and hits you mid roll anyway.

Charge and teleport type skills are broken the same way. the animations go off but you are left standing right where you started half the time.

An option to disable right click targeting

Yes, I wholeheartedly have been wanting this since I started playing in the beta weekend events.

It still aggravates me that my targeting, etc. is screwed up very easily by me using right-click to move the camera … it’s how I turn, etc.

It’s how EVERYBODY turns. I can’t believe it was ever designed this way to be honest. You’d have to be legally brain dead to even consider binding targetting to the right mouse button in a game that uses the right mouse button to steer your character. even more so given the amount of movement they require during combat in this game.
