stick with 7. Or even better, make the move to Linux.
Why do I have to hit login every time I come to the forums?
Basically what I’m saying as a new player is that I don’t know the old system so this one now is just fine.
As a new player I can speak for other new players. We have no idea what you’re talking about.
A zombie Jesus, world boss would be awesome!
I’m not going re-type the same FPS drop info everyone else has already stated.
However I want to chime in with the following. Im running a dual screen setup adn often run Firefox with gazzillion tabs open and stream video on the side screen. Before the patches I was doing this with out a glitch and a steady FPS. Now if I run a youtube clip on the side the FPS will take major dive. Closin FF will affect FPS in big (positive) way. This is not a performance issue on my rig and only started happening afte the latest set of patches.
Makes me wonder why running a web browser now would cause these FPS issues?
I actually just tested this and closing down FF with 5 tabs open (no video content) caused a 30 FPS rise.
Opening a site like Dulfy with Flash content (ads, banners etc) will cause a immediate 25-30 FPS drop. (Oh btw, running game in windowed mode)
Just feels like a darn too good of a accident to not be flash related. (wasn’t there a flash update just last week?) Sharing issues or crossing wires with anything you guys might be using?
They don’t use Flash in the game. Actually no one uses flash anymore. Unsecure and outdated.
Not totally true, several softwares and websites still use Flash. Anyway, even though the game doesn’t use Flash, any other application using it opened along with the game can cause FPS drop. I also have noted Firefox eating up some RAM and it surely affects FPS too, then I have always not ran both at the same time. I don’t mean that this is the issue everyone else is having, but it’s sure and truly that other softwares, either they have Flash or not, can yes affect game’s FPS.
If a site still uses Flash, their web designer is horrible. No need for flash anymore.
Then you are misinformed and this way you offend several web designers out there (for your information, even some of the ads used by Google and others are Flash based). There still a plenty of things that cannot be done without Flash, HTML 5 hasn’t evolved that far to completely trash out Flash. Anyway, I won’t go further on this to not derail this thread.
What are ads?
You can just copy and paste the folder.

Patch notes say it’s fixed now.

Pops in, I see that this topic is now number 20ish after all the other new bugs… I see that they still have not given an update or eta, I see that all the little fan boys are in here sticking up for the screw up.
Goes back to playing other games, and states that anet best hope one of them doesn’t catch his fancy more then gw2 before they come up with a fix.
They stayed they are working on it. Nothing more can they do other than work on it.
First off they made that statement a week ago, maybe an update? Maybe a yes we are still aware and working on the problem? Are we mushrooms? Because that is how we are being treated. ie kept in the dark and fed some poop.
So why not let me post what I want to post and mind your own business fan boy.
All you did was kitten, kitten boy. What else do you want them to say? You’re kittening does no good.

Hard to say how ‘big’ it is. Since it seems to involve AMD cards, it might just be a missing library.
It effects all cards. I have an Intel.
Jeez just go run around for a little bit and get back to 30
I wonder if ANET’s UI technology mainly destroys the FPS of AMD cards. Even though there are some Nvidia affected.

I’ve noticed fps is better, maybe even normal, if you just bump it down one resolution. Seems that native resolution is giving the drops. (makes it playable at least for me)
That’s because lowering the resolution decreases the amount of work the GPU has to do (less pixels to render). It seems the UI is weighing heavily on the GPU at the moment, so anywhere else you can decrease the load will help out.
I know this, I was just saying that it’s a lot better just dropping it down one resolution setting.

Because there are tons of bugs introduced with the patch a few days ago.
Hey guys, have you tried to repair the game client with the -repair argument? I had the FPS issue, and after the repairing, it seems that the game works fine now. Maybe I was just lucky, I don’t know
Yes, did nothing for me.
Please fix this fps issue asap.
See above.
i don’t have this issue so i can’t test it .. is someone can check if disabling hardware acceleration in Flash Player can fix it ? i believe the UI /menu is made with flash ..
other thing may interfere .. like having a youtube video playing on a second screen . or having a web browser opened .. AERO desktop … etc etc ..
You have no idea what you’re talking about.
If you’re logged they will be greyed out when read.
It’s a know bug, it’s all over the forums, and supposedly they are working on it. Turn UI off and it goes back to normal, so it’s a UI problem.
Could have been lies just to shut us up.

Thank you again for your assistance. When I try to do as suggested, I get an error msg
The name “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”-windowed specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and the file name are correct.
put a space after the last "
yeah time to hunt for a new MMO if this keeps up.
I’m sure it will be fixed. But you’d think that this would be their priority. Or maybe it’s a hard fix?
Same for me and also very low ping.
Huh? I assume you mean low fps. Low ping is good.
You guys all have AMD or happens with Nvidia too?
Happens with AMD, Nvidia, and Intel.
why the hell do I see ppl keeping crying about anet this company kittening rocks
Just because you didn’t have any bugs doesn’t mean others didn’t.
Dev team has not acknowledged it but if you look around on the forums, tons of people are effected by it. I haven’t been able to play since the patch because of it.
The biggest bug of all, the fps UI problem, still hasn’t been fixed.
Ho do you even turn, move while casting, etc. have you ever play an mmorpg with a mouse? Do you play first person shooters with a touchpad also?
Once again, it’s a UI bug introduced with the patch that is causing low fps for a lot of people. Even on decent computers.
Question is, how do you play with a touch pad? A mouse would be so much more responsive and easier.
Apparantly, we need to re-dowload + re-instal the game, then FPS problem should be fixed. I’m gonna try it tonight,
Already tried that. Does no good.
Reading through the bug forum, I’m honestly starting to wonder how many of you are playing with rigs that are at/below the minimum standard for the game.
The in-game bugs are all on A-net. Missing textures, broken voice prompts, and broken chat definitions are all behind the scenes things.
Having a less than 1GB download take 20 hours plus? That’s entirely on your internet package and ISP.
Having the game not start when the patch has been implemented? That screams bad file structure – which implies something changed your directory structure – ie: sweetfx of some such thing.
BSOD – that one is entirely on you. Generally (90% + of the time) it would be a hardware problem. Do you have a bad RAM module? Do you even know how to check? Is your videocard/CPU bleeding heat properly? Again, do you even know how to check? Have you overclocked beyond the hardware’s ability to cope? Is the inside of your PC clean enough to lose the excess heat?
Seriously – there are a slew of software bugs, but a large chunk of what is currently in the bug forum is nothing but PEBKAC.
You couldn’t be any more wrong.
You do know your on an unsupported OS? End of Life for XP was almost a year ago.
Is this offer still available? Just started playing about a week ago but haven’t been able to the last few days due to the fps drop bug brought on by the new patch.
I have a kittenty computer also. was getting about 25 fps. was playable. now as of yesterday, with the new patch, i barely get 5. It’s a known problem. Look around on the forums and you will see a lot of people with the same problem.
I looked and it seems like it’s an EU problem and not NA. If I recall correctly, they run on different patches.
Umm I am NA. So your statement makes no sense.
When I had OEM 2-$400 laptops before my build I done the following
- Turn the eye candy off. (classic version)
- Disable everything including firewall (useless if you’re just gaming)
- Turn the mouse pointer to standard large
- run windows updates
- Try to run updates for sound/graphics ect from vendors before using windows version
- Run the game in window mode
- Turn off shadows/view … play with the settings sometimes can have some high settings
- Turn your power setting to Performance
- If you don’t have a stand place something under the top lip to lift it up some so the heat can escape better then just having it flat on the desk ( make sure what ever it is it’s not covering the vents.
Google up some searches for your OEM branded pc/bios and find some tweaks to get some lockable performance unlocked.
None of that makes any difference when the game is bugged.

You will be good. I play with an i3 processor and kittenty Intel HD graphics. Most everything on low.
UI on: 3-5 fps, UI off, 25-30 fps.
Same here along with thousands of others I’m sure. Worst. Patch. Ever.
No fix with the new build.
Go to your friends list, top left corner, go invisible, then online again. supposed to work. got a message in game how to fix it. I guess it was from a GM? Lord something.
Yeah this is horrible.
