Guild Wars 2

How many of the original guilds still exist on DR (those from launch)? Which ones are most active (more than 5 on at any given point)? I don’t care about guilds with 500 members…..I want to know actual online numbers for any given battle (active members)….not “fluff” members that never log in or are rarely around.

Started on DR at launch…left when DR was climbing the first time before all these changes. Got called out on it by the same guilds that bandwagon’d to other servers shortly thereafter. Looking to maybe get away from “big” server WvW and return to my “home” server…..as long as there’s numbers when you need them to be around and activity.

Reasons not to join Maguuma:

1. You’re afraid to die in a video game…

We used to be a force to be reckoned with on WvW maps but as all things in life many of our members have left the game or moved onto other ventures. EOH would like to rebuild its ranks on the Maguuma server for a WvW and EOTM focus.

New players, old players, or whatever players are welcome to join us. We will later on upon rebuilt status venture into some PvX, but at this time we’re looking for WvWers. We are not a “hardcore” guild and will not “require” you to be online for long hours at a time. We are however wanting active people.

Just because you have a commander icon and you have a 50 man zerg following you, just mean you’re a good commander with “followers”. WvW is setup the way it is so that people that don’t want the endless quest grind have alternatives to level up. YOU may not like it that way, but you continue to play so therefore you’ve already accepted it as being okay. Plus, sPVP is the “lvl 80” pvp in the game anyways, hence when you’re automatically lvl 80 in there…period.

If you want extra slots for WvW, ask Anet to move JP’s outta WvW and make them their own “maps”. I guarantee you, that by removing those JP’s you’ll free up all the extra slots for WvW you’ll ever want or need. Bad players are bad players regardless of their level.

in all honesty. I don’t see kain holding onto second place this week. not that they don’t have the talent or coverage. I just believe that yaks bend is in their prime right now and ready to pounce on the demoralized kaineng. don’t forget what happened last weekend. we were all in the bottom looking up at a huge deficit to kain. yaks closed that gap down to ~3.5k. this weeks predictions is mag 1st, yaks 2nd, kain 3rd. with yaks beating kain by ~7k. good luck to all servers and I hope everybody can pull out another fun interesting week. procarts and all.

So you are now an oracle ? Is that a new WvW XP trait at rank 150 ? Amazing that we just started out the week and you are already talking down to both YB and Kaineng. Why can’t YB be 1st ? Regarding talent on Kaineng, kindly note that we have more T2 experience. You are right thou that Kaineng does not have the coverage.

You know that if YB focuses on you in NA times and Kaineng focuses on you in Oceanic times, it will be enough coverage to knock Magumma from 1st spot.

I’m sorry, but Kaineng is a T8 bandwagon server that is being carried 100% by a couple T2+ guilds. Let’s not pretend being in T2 gives you any sort of valuable WvW knowledge.

I second this. But, not only to commanders as I think you’ve kinda stated here. Give commanders the full abilities of their “squads” and a larger number for which they can have grouped up. Give others the ability to form their own groups as well (like “raids” from other MMOs). This will give those without voice comms or other means of communication to give “commands” in a chat that only that group sees….creating “tactical” groups.

DR wasn’t a winning server until it was “bandwagoned”, but yes T8 days were nice when they were balanced.

I read somewhere a while back that they’re worth 2 points.

Throwing the matchup or not is irrelevant. There are many many Maguumans and others that are “tired” from WvW and not putting as much heart into it as they once did and others that are leveling up alts just to keep the game “interesting” until some of these next massive updates come along. Just saying.

I saw some complaints about Mag defending up things further back in this thread. Are our enemies really just all about zergs and zerging…is that what WvW is to you? Sorry if we have caused you to actually have to drag your entire zerg to take one location and make you work for it….I mean isn’t that the purpose of spending all that time, gold, and running back and forth from supply camps…or am I thinking of some other game? I’m pretty sure you’ll get plenty of PvD overnights though.

Sounds fine to me. Most of us have known for weeks that the rating system has not be appropriately matching servers together just merely due to their increased population or “losing” and still “winning” the tier because of their current rating. It’s all great and lovely that certain servers have “battle hardended victories” and that they should be “rewarded” for that be being up top, but this is a versed game and as such it should have a dynamic aptitude applied.

Yes it looks like this next week’s matchup will be interesting indeed as there will be T1 servers dropping to T5 and lower and T8 servers going up to T5 and up, and everyone else in the middle will still pretty much be in the middle. However, we all know that those servers getting bounced up and down will be up or down dependant on their time invested anyways and if they want T1 back, they’ll work for it again.

It’s about time a game didn’t “give” away the objectives and made people appreciate it more.

Only a WvW Player is happy when they make a profit on killing other players (make more gold then you spend on siege).

I don’t know what all this hub bub of Kaineng is about. They’ve run into no resistance as they are moving up in ranks from their “bandwagoners” xfer’d in. Kaineng’s “gear check” will be in T4 when they face servers that have previously overcome Maguuma’s residents in battle. Just like Maguuma’s “gear check” will be this next matchup to see who’s staying and who’s moving on once we face equal numbers (which I’m hoping for personally so I don’t have to take a good portion of time away from WvW again). While leveling alts is a great time passer and getting more and more into sPVP is nice, I still prefer WvW in this game to many of its other aspects and like when we’re on a more even playing field.

Let Kaineng speak for itself when or if it gets up to our bracket, whatever bracket that may be. We all know that there has been a lot of talk about WM and how they were “THE” guild in GW1, but GW2 and WvW doesn’t rely on only “ONE” guild. This is a team effort and the moment we rely on one guild to “do it for us” then when that guild leaves or moves on, the server gets “devistated” and everyone feels like they’re failsauce, even when they know they aren’t as individuals.

So like many I’ll welcome the challenge if it presents itself, but if it doesn’t then that’ll be fine too. Let us see what’s in the weeks to come rather than speculate on what could be because of a computer and a rating system that is failsauce.

And to correct your mistake, sPVP is available to all servers at once. Your answer should have been that it “seems” that Anvil Rock has the “most” sPVPers out of all the servers. But, that would even be incorrect, because I have been matched with some of Anvil Rock’s finest on many of my toons by chance and honestly I don’t see the stigma associated with your comment (I’ve killed many and been near top or top in pts most matches). Now my next conquest will be tPVP when I get dedicated people to form a team within our guild. Don’t believe me….ask Keyba about my days in sPVP.

Plus, we’re not talking about sPVP here anyways….this was about WvW anyways.

It’s been several in “your” alliance, actually. And, many more asking several of EOH members what server they moved to because they’d liked several of our guildmates’ company when out doing things.

EOH came to Mag about 4 weeks ago. Officially the majority of our guild is in it’s 3rd full matchup, but we shifted over from Anvil Rock in the middle of a matchup and didn’t present ourselves until the start of the following matchup, save for our rep that was already on Maguuma for what could have been our 1st (or 4th back). Of course, we’re not leaving (1 complete move is enough). For better or for worse, we’re going to stick with Mag because we like it here and we have members that are natural Maguuman’s now anyways.

why would anyone pay 5 dollars to transfer to a dead server. also i doubt it will be $50 because thats as much as the game itself….might aswell buy a new account at that point.

I don’t specifically remember where I saw the gem transfer rate (google it and you may find it), but to go up to a “high” tier server it was going to be 4000 gems. At current 4000 gems is 50 bucks US. The conversion rate from gold to gems right now is about 1G = 43 gems(ish). In in game currency at current you’d be looking at about 93 gold to grind up in order to move up to higher population servers. However, when I found said data, to go down to “dead” or lower pop servers it stated as low as the equivalent of 5 US dollars which is about 400 gems (give or take) or about 9G in game currency at present.

Don’t shoot the messenger, but it’s in some data that was pulled from information from some Anet thread somewhere or info that was up on the GW2 site that was just transferred onto one of the “unofficial official GW2 gaming sites”.

To the OP. EOH may be a new home for you. We’ve expanded into other areas from our initial WvW base and are now considered a PvX guild. We’re mostly active in the evening hours and have our hands into a lot of things. We’re a small guild at present (less than 50 in our roster as we’ve recently moved to Maguuma about 4 weeks ago).

We use TS3 and have a FB group.

Guild contacts in game are, Gifany, Zarri, Tirnwold, and of course myself Xandria Wolfkin.

Good luck with finding a new guild on Maguuma.

Because apparently it doesn’t like my computer….but who really knows. I’m personally tired of uninstalling and reinstalling and have people that can get on the mumble anyways for transferrance of information.

The answer is sorry, I’ve been on Maguuma for about 4 weeks now as has the rest of my guild that transferred here. We’re not moving again and at the time we came we were more than welcomed here by many. Many of us may not use the server mumble (because who wants to uninstall and reinstall mumble 50 times to just get on there), but we are present nonetheless in many regards. We’re small, and may never get to that “large” guild status that many have here, but I assure you we won’t be leaving.

I offer my extension to particular players in that particular guild because despite our leaving that server many weeks ago (6 weeks after it went online, or thereabouts), there are some that we still have a respectful relationship with. I’ve seen all the “anti-recruitment” threads for Maguuma, but in all honesty though many of them are very serious as to not wanting people here on Maguuma….it’s drawing people here for the trollery that those threads are.

I’d imagine a few people are getting close to particular titles with whatever their playstyle is in WvW. I’m know I’m pretty close to the one with creating siege.

The serious answer is really simple:

The rating system ate our homework.

The even more serious answer is: The rating system bumped us down because Ebay got two servers that didn’t give them a fight and allowed them to double or triple their “rating” to move back up into a higher superior position with half the work applied.

So who’s leaving Mag before the 28th comes up and paid transfers are initiated?

Number one already exists, just not implemented yet. It’s based around gems. By tranferring to a higher tier (more populated) server you’re in essence supposed to be paying the equivalent of $50 to move there. But, to go downwards into lesser tier (less populated) servers it could cost as little as $5 equivalent. When it gets to this point, we’ll see some people not moving around so much. Right now though it’s a good standard until people find the place they want to be, no matter how much kittening about these free transfers have been going on.

Number 2 should be removed totally. Give an icon to let you know you’re outmanned, but no buffs. This would go back to the same problem with the orbs and we know what happened to those.

Don’t have an opinion on 3, as I never plan on getting a legendary under the current system (unless one drops, and yes it’s possible).

4 – Agree. Remove JP’s from WvW and put them out with the rest of the PvE content or make a map specifically designed for WvW JP’s with it’s own seperate queue that doesn’t effect the normal WvW maps. Anet has already stated that WvW is actually an enhanced PvE area. Also take into consideration that when you complete your “Victory or Death” storyline quest, you are given 1k guild influence and WvW blueprints. If they are available in standard PvE in this manner, it wouldn’t be hard to code a specific WvW JP PVE area.

6 – Disagree. And only because, most guilds don’t transfer to the same tier (like this whole BP/Mag mess going on right now). Guild lose all of their upgrades when they transfer servers and essentially have to start over. Also, there are players that feel a loyalty to the server that they got recruited on and may wish to continue the guild on that server (different chapters) such as a few of my former server guildmates have.

Remove them from WvW maps. Put them in PvE maps with same rewards. Problem solved. WvW is a PvE content area according to Anet a few months ago….if this is the case, then JP’s in WvW should be moved to a PvE area and help free up slots for serious WvWers.

The problem that I always saw on DR was that everytime someone “offered” them a server wide comm system….every other week the person offering it would yank it out from under them because of their difference of opinions with the server or whatever lame excuses were the cause. DR needs a non-partisan party to host a server wide comm system for them (someone not on their server or that doesn’t affiliate with WvW) that won’t rip it out from under them everytime they turn around. Maybe this isn’t the case now, but I suspect it still is somewhat. The fact that we have peeps here on Mag that are willing to “help” out without prejudice, someone over there should take that offer up or ask people that you know are from DR originally for their opinions and talk shop (as far as I’m aware there’s a lot of former DR players on Mag).

While I’m new here to Mag (3 weeks in), I totally enjoy the “whole server guild” thing over the “we’re going to force you to play in our alliance or blacklist you” thing, like other servers have problems with. It’s a very nice change of scenery to have so many guilds working with each other, even if some are more trollery than others. The expressions viewed on these forums are not always the same in game nor during WvW matches. To each their own.

And as a reminder….EVERY SERVER has a ZERG. There isn’t one server in this game right now that doesn’t have WvW population problems (low or high). There are many guilds that have transferred to other servers during the same matchup or other tiers and many of the guilds accusing other guilds of being traitorious in this thread have members that have server hopped themselves, so knock it off. It may not be YOU personally, but you have members that have I’m sure. It’s a learning experience to understand other servers and their tactics and to decide if this is where you’re going to stay or move on to next.

Well personally I’m a ranger and I’m a commander. I don’t overuse the icon, but often forget it’s “on”.

The key thing with being a commander is communication. Whether you’re using a voice system or not, you still have to be vocal on your /T chat (plus that red makes people read it more often). Once they fix /T however, you might want to use /M again. Anyways, the next big thing a commander has to have is mettle. You can’t turn that thing on and then 5 mins later decide you’ve had enough. Whether commander’s realize it or not, your team expects you to run them around a map in either a zerg or a coordinated attack group for longer than a kid with ADD. Next up, responsibility. You’re going to have to take a lot of heat for failed attempts of taking things. Kind of like the captain going down with the ship, it’s your fault (or not) as to what happens with your zerg or attack group. Not everyone is going to like you, but some will love you.

I’d recommend putting an investment into siege as well. Carry no less than the amount of siege on you that you plan on taking objectives with. If you’re planning on taking 5 towers that night, make sure you have no less than 10 rams, 5 carts, 2 balista, 4 catapults. If you’re planning on commanding for several hours expect to spend no less than 5g a night on siege or the equivalent in badges for siege. And always, always, make sure you and your now friendly zerg group have supplies. Camps before objectives, etc and so forth.

I was making a crack at BP’s official line from 4 weeks ago about “never” receiving xfers to their server and that all that new huge surplus of population was from PvE only. A few posts after that crack post, I did say we had several xfers to Maguuma.

And as someone else stated above and something for which you can research yourself if you took the time, Maguuma has been a fairly “stable” server in regards to where it sits in the brackets. It isn’t our fault that sometimes we like PvE a tad more than WvW and take time to enjoy the benefits of the game like holiday events and stuff.

Anvil Rock, unless I’m mistaken. Or was it GoM?

EOH was founded on Anvil Rock and we still have “supporters” there in another guild: Black Legion. That’s where most of whom did not transfer with the rest of us ended up within.

However, I, and 8 others are originally from Devona’s Rest, formerly within the guild of GASM.

Maps are full because of the flaw that is human….we can make great toys for people to play on, but we haven’t quite figured out how to make computer systems that can keep up with the amount of people that can play on a blade server.

AKA, computers are limited to hardware and imaginations have no limits.
