Wait do we want a populated WvW or not?
I’m confused.
When WvW was considered to be at it’s peak, we had queues everywhere every day and literally had to be on a border 1-2 hours ahead of scheduled raiding times or it was just to forget about getting everyone in for the evening.
But now it’s apparently a joke instead.
Only when it’s convenient for ME
The hype will go away and so will many people. Just be patient and give it time.
Well to be honest Tonics do not have any good place in wvw it wouldn’t kill anything if they were completely disabled in the wvw maps, besides a few trolls and people trying a little too hard to win.
Honestly tonics have little good use anywhere. Following this logic tonics should be disabled everywhere.

+1 we need more beards and tats for human and norn. I would consider making a human if they added more of either in the mix and would love new options for my norn
Pretty much all norn and char armor/outfits
It’s ok. I would read a couple reviews and probably not do my business with you either.
Alright veterans need to suck it up already. So what the expansion costs $50 and you have to pay another $10 to play all the content….
Or delete a character you may have invested years in by this point…….
Just spend that in game gold you’ve been saving.
Stop feeling all entitled after all Hasn’t many of the new changes have been geared toward new pla……
At least they fixed thos pesky bugs persisting since Lau….
Besides the point anyway, they get a $40 free gift, you get the happiness knowing you supported the company and had a good time doing it. You don’t deserve equal consideration. Stop feeling entitled.

So if you buy a t-shirt today at Target for $20, then 2 years later, random person A buys the same T-shirt that is on sale for $10, then Target is being unfair? They are not getting more value than you, you’ve been playing this game sans subscription fee for x number of years. In that time you have managed to accumulate more in-game resource than they have. Experienced content that have now been permanently removed that they can’t experience as a new player. Given the chance to obtain skins that are now no longer obtainable. Received the LS2 updates for free, while they would have to pay around $20 to unlock all of that.
Your arguments don’t even make any sense anymore, that T-Shirt at Target would never be ‘free’ 2 years later, it would still cost something, the core game now evidently does not cost anything for new players if they buy the expansion, and yes they do get more value then me, they will ALSO get to play the game subscription free for years to come, seriously your entire argument is “You got to play for longer, that is your reward” which makes NO sense whatsoever, if -you- are happy with that as your reward for being a loyal customer and supporter of the game then fine? Good for you?
One look over the forums suggests that the majority of said customers are not, so we being the majority and you being the minority, please explain how ‘everyone’ is wrong and only you and a few select individuals are ‘correct’.
If you don’t actually enjoy playing the game, then why are you even here?
Wow…really, I mean it really is not that often I find someone either this horrendous at logic or just lacking the ability to read before posting.
Not once did I say I do not enjoy playing the game, not once did I mention anything in relation to my enjoyment of the actual game, only about this whole expansion, free core game and price situation…seriously, I’m starting to think you are just trying troll now.
ok let me give you a better example. If you buy a car for $20k today, then two years later a new version of the same car (the base game) is being sold for $15k, but this new model comes with better seats, improved headlights/braking whatever (the expansion). Were you ripped off? No you were not, you have used that car for two years as a mode of transport. You got to use that car to go to some one-off festival last year that will never happen ever again. You got to use your car to go on a road trip with some friends, if you didn’t have that car you would’ve had to rent a car or go hitchhiking instead etc. In the same way the game has given you x years of enjoyment. It allowed you to enjoy content that is one-off and will never come back. You have got your money’s worth in the form of experience.
It’s more along the lines of you pay 30k for a car 3 years ago. 3 years later a new road is built but you need to upgrade your car to drive on it. Hey it will cost you 20k in upgrades to make your car eligible for this new road. But wait! if your new we will give you a free car (30k value) if you buy just the 20k upgrade. If you have an old car? Sorry the new car goes back to the lot.

Gw1 On release
Prophecies $50
Factions $50
Nightfall $50
Gw:EN $40
All but GW:EN stand alone campaigns.
Each campaign added to an existing account adds 2 character slots.
This is why I am upset
The only issue I could see would be interfering with the Ktrain, which one could argue as being against the intended use of the map as well.
Not against intended use of the map at all. It’s an WvW zone, therefore you should be on your guard at all times. Anyone that tried to argue against fighting on a WvW map would be laughed at by everyone.
I was referring to Ktrains not the fights
Like the idea and interested to see how it plays out.
What exactly is your concern with this? There is no match to be manipulated as there is no benefit to winning vs losing. The only issue I could see would be interfering with the Ktrain, which one could argue as being against the intended use of the map as well.
Time isn’t the issue
Blue Falcon.
…
What’s so hard about being at 1500+ (you can easily spam 1 from 1700-1800) range from the battle? There is nothing easier than not being in the battle in the first place.
(Large scale) Because 30% of your dmg will die soon as it rushes in. Plus if you are fighting anyone competent you will never have a safe place to sit and spam 1. Besides you have very little aoe at that distance so if that’s the preferred style you might as well run a ele/necro/engi that will be able to contribute damage, cc, support boons, and healing.
(Small scale) you won’t be at that range for long.
Easiest? Don’t go ranger. Yes they can be good in the right hands but they are best in small group setting (pvp/wvw). large groups (zergs/20+) in wvw they tend to get squished rather fast. Sure you can stand back and pew pew but your pet will die very fast eliminating 30% of your damage in seconds. There is a reason you don’t see many of them in wvw.
-(WvW) So if you like small group roaming or 1v1 ranger is great but has a real skill curve. -If you tag along with the large groups they are just inefficient and ineffective compared to what other classes offer. Easiest in this situation is guardian and warrior by a mile.
General pve anything works and easily.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on ranger but it’s not an “easy class” compared to guardian and ranger if you want to be effective.
Even if they increased reward for killing players, and people exploited it, it would still be slower/less profitable than pve. So that argument is pretty invalid.
Loot stacks
-gain a stack for every x players killed.
-higher stacks mean YOU drop better loot when killed
-Remove on down.
Amazed they haven’t kicked this thread to the slums yet
First people cried for more match deviation. They introduced it and people cried that there was too much match deviation. Now there is less deviation and people are crying for more again.
Face it, Because of population imbalances you have 2 options:
1) blow out matches
-or-
2) stagnation between the closest competitive servers.
As for the fixing those issues there are many many threads discussing that.
There is a lot of blame that goes to Anet but at the end of the day it’s the players fault. Most people want to win, they don’t want balance or competition. Regardless of the walls you put up people will tend to stack where they have the highest chance of winning the best rewards or most prestige. Even before there was any reward whatsoever players stacked. In short, players generally believe Anet should convince/incentivize players to act counter to their nature.
The most likely classes to come into play would be the ones that already existed in gw1(Paragon/ritualist/dervish). However some have been incorporated into current classes like paragon/guardian.
None of those would fill a unique slot. Some are even nearly identical to what already exists.
Limited ways to chill someone. Other runes increase dps more. Best for some type of balance gear on a elementalist.
Hammer guardian. Can be traited for chill on critical hits.
Every 30s
RP an exodus to a lower tier.
Why? Why should the RPers be made to suffer? We’ve built a wonderful community and server. Hell Tarnished Coast is consistently also one of the best WvW servers as well.
Because you can’t have your cake and eat it too. The more successful you are the more people you will draw, it’s the nature of the game. You have to deal with the issues that come with the success of your community, or find an alternative.
RP an exodus to a lower tier.
Your pretty safe on any server in T2 for those
Removing the time gate on some items, exotic gear for instance.
You really can’t go wrong with any of those weapon choices. Staff is typically a mainstay for any Zerg fights. 1v1 it all comes down to what your best with and what your trying to achieve with your specific build.
Skill+optimal gear > skill
Depends what role your going to take in wvw honestly.
Mesmers and warriors had those in Gw1 as well, just a different flavor.
One build does not a class make
Your not a ranger if-
You cannot cc yourself by auto attacking
Back in the golden days of this game me, Crank King, Gae Ko, Templanos (Oozo) would ‘deep strike’ into enemy lines. It was a kittening rush appearing in the middle of a group 2-3 times your size then having 2-3 more guardians appear near you dropping rings as well. We followed that up with others AOE and big water fields making a water park for the guardians to hammer around in.
This was about a year ago, lol. I still don’t see hammer trains do this, they just walk in with hammer warriors and guardians in tow. It would be twice as effective if they had deep strike guardians going in first with blinds on VoJ it would be crazy effective.
I’ve seen this done a lot. Problem is any good guild group will have coordinated stability making the technique irrelevant. It is hilarious on pug zergs though.
You should look up the meditation builds. Sorry I don’t have any available at the moment or I would post or link for you.
Your really asking for two separate things. I have seen builds that will give near 4k armor 2k power 20-25k hp. It does great at surviving but that’s about it. Most “unkillable” builds on guardian will lack the pressure and burst you are asking for.
“Youre NOT a ranger if ….”
You don’t have a ranger
OP should never assume everyone knows a the skills of a different game when giving reference.
So for the rest of you
Frozen soil: Nature Ritual. Creates a level 1…8…10 spirit. (30…78…90 second lifespan). Creatures in range cannot activate resurrection skills. Does not affect spirits.
This spirit prevents creatures in its range from using resurrection skills, not resurrection itself.
A creature outside the range of the spirit can resurrect a character inside its range, while a character inside its range cannot resurrect a character outside its range.
Edge if Extinction: Nature Ritual. Creates a level 1…8…10 spirit (30…126…150 second lifespan). Deals 14…43…50 damage to creatures in its range whenever a creature of the same type dies. Does not affect spirits. No damage to creatures above 90% Health.
The gem store armor highlights a big problem for me. I DO NOT want to permanently overwrite an armor set I’ve spent a lot of time and gold making. The armor and build system is inflexible as it is because the investment required to change a build. GW1 had a separate slot you could place costume skins on and remove at will, they also acted like the achievement armor; you could get them multiple times if you wished.
I get this system probably makes them more money. The inconvenience rigidity of the system however keeps them from getting mine, and others, money.
Personally I am fine with hard rez, if a group of people stop to rez mid fight they have to make the choice to sit there at eat any damage directed at them. There is risk vs reward there. The rally mechanic however, (more times than not) favors numbers and has no risk attached to it.
Rally should be more in line to help the smaller groups. An example would be if xx number of people are in xxx radius you receive a debuff/removal of the rally feature.(with the exception of keeps/towers) This would remove a large safety net from large groups. Anyone running a small tactical group vs much larger numbers knows that you rarely have time to stomp before the sheer damage kills you, you can never stand still that long. And it’s very discouraging to see half a Zerg rallying by picking off 1 of your people. ( I would

Would agree with maguuma as one of the lowest among their own guilds. It was one of my favorite to visit for sure. Most of the to drama is projected outward with a have fun and troll the serious ppt’ers on the other servers
There are problems and for the most part the wvw community has been largely ignored. I’ve also been wvw centric since beta (yet to finish a personal story), and I have seen many many guilds and players leave the game because of what the powers that be stated was only a small population in the game(recently stating how surprised they are how big it has become). So yes I share in the frustration, but resorting to anything other than constructive feedback is likely to get ignored.
Too many ideas in this thread could be good if discussed and fleshed out, but instead they say I hate this, fix this now, or x needs to be needed because it killed me. They are in for a wakeup when wild star comes out, however that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to make this the best game possible while we are actually playing it.
Simple fix: put a marker on the map that will follow the movement of any group over xx size.(similar to crossed swords). Now large groups are easy to avoid, easy to track, and easier to counter.
I can relate to lower pop servers. I still remember SBI’s free fall from the top, to rank 15. Getting stomped every week by Mag or SoS for a few months, and being able to compete with CD for 2nd, til they started to spank us as well. But, what you are asking for will take effect on every server, and thus would negatively effect higher pop servers.
Good point. Maybe if it was tied into the outmanned buff, that would very rarely affect the top tier servers while providing an extra tool for the underdog.
Nice post. I agree wvw can be a lot of fun when you get the right mindset on it. There are still issues that need resolved but progress is being made and only the constructive feedback from the community can help that. Otherwise enjoy it for what it is, a game.

lets put a marker on the map for small groups, so they can be attacked, and squished.
Seriously, if you get killed by the zerg, you get killed.
Plenty of times there is a group of 3 to 5 that will kill one person who is running by. Should we put a marker on the map and show them so people could avoid them?
I can sympathize where you coming from with play how you want and don’t punish people for it. However, in many situations the population imbalance is literally killing the wvw populations for many lower servers. My solution doesn’t offer a debuff or anything that hinders people in any way. What it does do is offer a chance for servers that can’t field 60 people to just roam another tool to compete competitively, and a risk to commanders trying to use brute force.
