Me and a friend want to try doing dungeon runs, with only the two of us. I run zerk thief and he is a guardian a little on the DPS side, but not total zerk. Which dungeons and paths would be easiest for us?
This is what I use in group settings in WvW, but it may not match your preferred playing style. I have made some small changes, I use the Signet of agility over the Assassins signet to give me condition cleanse and pain response in the acrobatics tree over quick recovery. You wont be able to kill people one v one like you do now, it is more of a group damage/survivability build.
Necros are a problem, I will admit that. If you get feared, you probably are dead. Minion necros are a bit of a toss up because they have so many targets you can heal on aoe. I have been testing out pain response in the acrobatics tree and it seems to work well against the builds that try to stack fast conditions on you.
An auto attack with the short bow will heal between 280-350 health, and a cluster bomb/detonate cluster hit will heal about 800-1200 health. You obviously heal more the more targets you can hit per attack.
I have been playing thief since the beginning because I hate cooldowns and usually play rogue classes in games. I am also a build hipster and because of that, I dont play D/D backstab builds. I play PvE and WvW most and have a lifesteal build I run, with SB and S/P as my weapons. The trait build is 2/6/0/6/0. Their are two things that make the build work. The first is the healing skill of Signet of Malice. The second is the last trait in the critical strikes tree, Invigorating Precision. I use zerker gear for the damage and precision with a couple valk trinkets for vit. I like this build because I still do damage while not being a squishy thief. As for skills it is really preference, but I use Dagger Storm ultimate. Dagger storm damage procs the life steal while the damage of thieves guild does not. It is fun to run into a zerg and use dagger storm and lifesteal through all the incoming damage while tagging a bunch of people with bleeds. This is a thief build that can engage the enemy zerg on the front lines, cut through them with dagger storm, then move to the back lines or flanking positions and short bow people down. Remember though, if you are not doing damage you are dying.
You could probably move around the 8 trait points not in the critical strikes tree if you have tankier gear, are comfortable with a smaller life pool or have some pet traits you really like. But I like the little extra burst of heals in the acrobatics trait line with Assassins Reward and the extra 3k health.
The main weapon of the build is short bow. The ricochets of the auto-attack to other targets and AOE of cluster bomb help proc heals while doing alright damage. I use sword/pistol for single target melee damage, but you could use your preferred single target weapon set.
This is more of a sustained damage/heal build then the spike damage/heal builds I have seen posted before. Comment if you want.
when we fight “bubbles” we will meet more largos is my guess. So in like 6 years?
expect the champ train in queensdale to be nerfed in about 2 hours after the patch goes live.
DragonBall is a little fun but not only getting 1 chest or 1 candy fun. Will only do it when I need the achievements to get my wings.
You should also know a thief holds the tear of grenth differently then they hold other daggers so some attack animations look a little awkward and off.
haha, just checked on the wiki and the title is reached at 1 000 000 dolyak kills. That seems a bit exessive. If you want to get the title in lets say 2 years you would have to kill 1369 convoys a day. How about 8 years which is how long guildwars 1 has been out. That would be about 342 convoys killed a day. That 1 000 000 cant be right.
1000 dolyak kills to earn the title? Try that number squared! 1000 is only the 2nd tier…
Well it looks like I am going to be at it for a while. I am averaging about 20-30 dolyak convoys killed a night in the last few days since I have started doing it casually.
I recently decided to go for the ulitmate interceptor title which involves, i am guessing, killing 1000 doylak caravans. I enjoy the guerrilla warfare like strategy of being far behind enemy lines and striking fast at the dolyak convoys. But I was a little disapointed with the rewards. I get about 50 copper and 85 karma for taking out a caravan. I find the experience I get is fine though. My biggest beef is the 85 karma reward. I find it is too low for the risk involved in being so far behind enemy lines to really disrupt supply.
When I see people running around in orr without the map completion icon but do have a legendary I look down on them. Like when I see people in wvw with food boosts, I automatically think they are bad. I really shouldnt think like that but I do.
My 77 clovers costed about 750k of karma. I only used the single clover recipe.
As of latest patch the thief still holds the tear of grenth the wrong way. I am kinda OCD about this because the animations dont really match up when you use abilities. I currently have a tear of grenth in my inventory not being used because of this.
I would like a /speak emote, but from what I understand arenanet for some reason doesnt like it.
I wanted to have a pair of tears of grenth but the thief holds them different then their other daggers so the animations seem a little off. So I have one in my bank just chilling because I am ocd and cant stand the dagger being held wrong.
From what I understand, magic find doesnt increase the chance of loot you get. It increases your rate of getting rares and exotics. If a mob has a %30 chance to drop loot, and a %.25 chance of dropping a rare from that %30 chance, and you have 100 magic find that will go to %.5 from %.25. I may be wrong but this is how I understood how magic find works.
I havent finished my last mission either after a friend of mine said it was boring and not worth it. I wonder what percentage of 80’s never finished the story?
If they added an internal timer to DE’s that upped the reward the more time that went by since it has last been done would help incentivize players to explore more DE’s in out of the way places and help people levelling up in sparsely populated maps since doing DE’s by yourself takes longer then with other people.
I spent about 40$ on keys during the halloween event on got the unlimited bank access which I am very happy with. I didnt get any weapon skins though in that $40 of keys though so it is a gamble.
I am stuck on the lion arch splash screen. Tried closing gw2 and opening it again once already. I will try again.
You should be fine depending on the amount of gold moving hands. If he is sending you 5g nothing will happen, but if he sends 500g, it would probably be flagged and they would look into where the gold came from.
I was wondering if the dragons are all primal hunger and chaos in their heads, or can they made intelligent decisions. Or do the dragon’s champions do the bulk of the thinking. Does it change between the dragons, which some think more the others?
He is farming the vials of powerful blood which are used in glass cannon gear and thus tend to be the most expensive.
I make a bit of money crafting daggers, which people then toss into the mystic forge, or I salvage them for ecto, which considering the price of ecto keeps rising makes is better sense financially.
I politly ask for from toymaster tixx to spin my tear of grenth around so my thief holds it like other daggers. Also an incinerator would be just dandy, it would fit in my mailbox great since it doesnt take up much space.
unless arenanet ups the drop rate and loot on the other zones in the game, the 80’s will stay in the dungeons, fractals and cursed shore. There is no reason for them to go to other zones in the game.
I can see why you nerfed dancing dagger, because you didnt want d/d to have the ability to kite, although I dont like it. I used it in pve and wvw against minion necros, mesmers with clones and rangers to great effect. Now it is just an overcosted cripple.
The biggest issue I have right now is as been stated many times already. When targeted with a channeled ability, going stealth does not drop target from the abilities viewpoint and you are still hit with it. If going stealth did drop targeting of channeled abilities it would promote more strategic/defensive stealth mid fight.
As stealth is right now, it is either used at the beginning of a fight to get a backstab spike combo off, or at the end of fights to run away and heal.
Also I find signet of shadows odd. The passive is a speed boost, but the active ability is a blind. I would of thought the active was a 3 sec swiftness or something like that considering the passive. Or maybe a passive of immunity to blind with the active of the blind.
Also as long as haste is an ability, there will always be spike problems with the thief in pvp. It would be best to get rid of the ability and replace it with new ability.

I run on low setting to help when I am running wvw. And the dagger animations are designed with the daggers to be a certain direction. Some animations like the 3rd part of the dagger auto attack, lotus strike is a downward stab. When the daggers are backwards like tear of grenth, it turns into a pommel strike instead of a stab.
When a thief holds the tear of grenth which is a dagger, it is held the way other classes hold it, as if it is a kitchen knife. It is not held the way other daggers are held by the thief, so looks awkward when I run d/d. Is this a bug?
I do have it planned for actual voice work have a couple people in mind, but they want to see it before they record. It just looks weird when characters just stare at eachother when talking.
I have one planned but I am not going to start until a /talk emote is added because any conversations between characters looks dumb as it is right now.
There is a place where you can kinda glitch the puzzle and make a jump you shouldnt and skip like half the puzzle. I was showing people in blackgate where it was for about 1h today.
get ready to be 2v1’d and the jumping puzzles getting camped.
blackgate went from middle tier to high tier when a couple of euro guilds joined to help with night capping and defending.
I have never worn magic find gear in any game I have played on principal. I find it a bad game mechanic. It ends up screwing up the economy and drop rates. The people who max the stat out bugger the numbers for people who are not wearing it and there comes a point where drop rates are nerfed because of people with magic find sets.
Arenanet must of seen some metric in the back end that shows that a large portion of the community once they hit 80 and got their exotic set stopped logging in. This seems like it is an attempt to stop that from happening once the more casual people hit that point. I have 4 irl friends who stopped playing a little after they hit 80 and went back to other games because they said whats the point after I get to 80? This seems like a move to try to get those players back.
Just to be clear, I dont think that way and am disappointed with this new tier of gear. I always end up quitting games that have any gear grind because it makes any previous work almost irrelevant. I want any work that I put into getting any items to have a sense of permanence, which gear grind shatters.
You can do the new content with exotics.
That is not how the dungeons work.
It is true you can enter the new content with exotics. The problem comes from as you progress through the dungeon you will hit a wall no matter how good you are because you dont have ascended gear because of the new condition that enemies will cast on players. You cannot get far in the dungeon no matter how good you are without having grinding out gear ahead of time.
Does anyone know if arenanet have made any comments about adding more emotes into the game?
I agree with the removal of haste, it will always cause problems and I am a thief. Replace it with a condition removal + x ability (add whatever you want here, damage, condition, heal or boon).
I have a mechinima in my head I want to make, but unable to. Whenever I try to make it the lack of a generic talk animation makes it look very awkward when characters are talking to each other. Characters just stare at each other and gesture wildly when I try to make a conversation with the given emotes. Also more camera options would be much appreciated.
Increase scorpion wire range to 1200 to get annoying ranged classes off of walls or off choke points in the jumping puzzles, so thiefs can fight them. Also please add 1 pistol ability with 1200 range, maybe headshot or bodyshot (unload would be too good at 1200 range). Other then that I am having fun with my d/d p/p thief.
I came accross 1 blinding thief in WvW in the jumping puzzle. They won the fight because they got the jump on me and I wasnt expecting it, but it still was a close fight with lots of running around and stealthing from both of us.
The humilation would prevent others from buying gold. Maybe it is a little harsh for the icon to always be on the name if you are guilty of buying gold. If you give the gold back or arenanet takes it they can take the icon off your name. Then you would not do it in the future.
If it was a legitimate gold transaction from guild member to guild member or friend to friend it would be easy for arenanet to find out and take the icon off, maybe the icon goes away while the ticket is being processed.
How about whenever a player receives a large infusion of cash to their account from mail over a certain period of time, say more then 20 gold over an hour (because gold sellers could spread out the transactions over multiple mails), a special icon is put beside their character name. This icon would let other players know that there is a good chance this player has bought gold from a gold seller. This would create a bad view of the player in other players eyes and would make the game less fun for the offending party.
The icon would go away if the player bought a commander compendium, because these are mostly bought with guildies giving money to the guild leader. Or the player could put in a ticket to get it removed and an investigation would take place to see where the gold came from. If it came from an account flagged as a spammer, bot or gold seller, the gold in the account would be taken out from players account. If the gold is no longer there, they would be put in a negative amount of gold, and the icon would not be removed.
I have been loving the comics. Looking forward to more in the future.
I wouldnt plan on that lasting long. Anet will probably up the event timers to to get people from farming specific de’s or make it extremely boring.
If they widened the range that de’s show up on your map you would have less de camping, and more people running around. Although it would probably turn into a zerg that goes from one end of the map to the other from de to de.
I found that when I was doing the jumping puzzles back to back for a couple hours to get the acheivments, I started getting motion sickness. The constant camera panning back and forth and quick zoom-ins when near walls when you move the camera didnt go over well with me. Dont know if this was because of fps issues, I was moving the camera too fast or what, but I never got this sensation with other games before.
