Hello… another fellow thief here. I’m just wondering why we keep having a trait that doesn’t save our life while fighting and we have to die because of it. We’re not asking for a buff or anything else… even get 20hp when you have 25% hp is better than this… really. Can you please consider to fix it somehow?

First of all you should stop thinking that the s/d kitten meta is the only thing viable for thief.
2. If you guys don’t know how to face a warrior with d/d because you never used it in your entire life it’s not the skillset/build being weak.
3. Answering to the guy up there saying you take all the damage while using daggerstorm: learn to press esc and use daggestorm only when needed. I use it mainly for stability.
4. I have faced a lot of hambow warriors and let me say they are all the same kitten. I fear more a build with gs/ axe+shield than an hambow warrior.
Against an Hambow warrior use their steal when they start using the shortbow or dagger/storm and if you’re d/d it’s easy to kill them. Just be ready to dodge when they switch to hammer and blind them.
Keep the skale venom because it is ridicolously op in a small group. If your team is good enough to focus a target with that vuln on the enemy would be down in less than 2secs.
1. D/D unicorn build is not really viable anymore and whoever plays condi uses p/d because is cheesy.
2. Let’s count the fact that the 99% of people running d/d is zerk and doesn’t care a lot about those stacks of bleeding.
3. I’m not saying that death blossom would be nice with vulnerability but I don’t get why you said vuln is useless on a thief… meh.
The only thing I would change about Dancing Dagger is the duration of cripple applied. 3s was fine when GW2 came out years ago. But now it’s way to short with all those cripple reduction traits + foods available. Duration should be increased to 4s.
If I would change something about D/D it’s Death Blossom. Increase evade duration to 1/2s + change 3x bleed to 3x vulnerability.
But vulnerability is useless on a thief, everybody knows that.
Since when vulnerability is useless on a class like thief… ?
!. Don’t forget that we have Dagger Storm as stability skill.
2. The problem with this one is that it’s low compared to Shadow Rejuvenation in Shadow Arts. If I have to choose between a trait that heals 300hp each second while in stealth and this one I obviously choose the first as everyone here.
3. It should give stability when you’re in stealth for 2seconds and it will be fine? Why? You’re going to sacrifice another trait line where you have such things like Hidden Kille r, Sleight Of Hand or Shadow’s Rejuvenation to use this GRANDMASTER trait.
Anet made some tweeks needed. There are still a lot of fixes that we need to our class but I think this upcoming patch will not nerf our class. The point everyone is forgetting here is that engi and ranger will get buffed with those 6s revealed and we didn’t get any real counter to hit. Oh well…
Keep the runes, use Executioner, put Mug and you’re fine. If you want more vitality use 2rings zerk+valk. Anyways it seems good

Actually the only real problem with D/P is the abuse of stealth with SA trait line. If you don’t know how to counter a blind then it’s your fault.
I think as said before to change Black Power to Dak field with 5ini instead of 6 and change the 4th skill of Pistol giving it something like 2x shots instead of 1 with half sec and it would be fine. This will make p/p viable and d/p still good.It’s hard to counter blinds when they are so easily applied. Yes, if I realize that the thief popped a bp in the middle of my CnD, if I react fast enough, I can in theory sheathe my daggers to cancel the CnD, but this is anything but easy to do. I can dodge the shot from bp, only to have the thief reappear and plop another one down. It’s not blind we’re talking about here, it’s d/p’s ability to apply more blinds than one can deal with at times. It provides a much more forgiving play style. I can tell an immediate difference from when I play d/p instead of d/d, I don’t have to worry about anything really. And as I said before, I still feel like getting rid of d/p’s ability to stealth is too much. The whole purpose of dagger mainhand is for backstab, so that would completely defeat the purpose of the set and make it basically useless.
Use Dancing Dagger like I do to take out the blind or switch on sb to keep pressure on him with poison and cluster bomb. I never let thieves play in their funny combo field without doing nothing. Also I don’t think D/p would die as main set if BP becomes a dark field because it can combo with Dagger Storm/3rd skill to heal yourself. This will let people to stay alive and keep the blind pressure active.
Anyways I think if he’s using Signets of Power with Infiltrator’s Signet, Assassin’s Signet, Strength Runes and 10% increase dmg while moving he can easily hit you with that damage.

Well you can try to run a 02606 with signets of power trait and use the Assassin’s signet if you need some finishing blows. Or just the utility iitself
No. I don’t think this is really viable. It’s better if you do 6/6/2/0/0 with runes of pack or something like that if you wanna go full zerk.

Do you seriously think we have our shadowstep ready just to counter those Goggles? Really? what about the cc, the elite skills and all the kittening combo an engi has. GG anet. Thanks for destroying a class because noobs don’t know how to counter a stealth.
Actually the highest difference between this 2 classes is : if you do 1 mistake with a thief you’re dead; if you some mistakes with your warrior who cares… you can still live. Actually I noticed also that a lot of people is making warriors and I see a lot of parties made by only warriors. It’s the easiest class in the game… lel.
If you’re condi you can run Krait Runes and caltrops which are a good combo and you can reach 25stacks of bleeding by yourself. As sigils Malice/Bursting and Corruption
So uhh why are pvp thieves better than WvW ones??
Also what tier are you kitten measuring fellas from?
We’re just pointing out that PvP thieves should stop thinking they’re anywhere better than wvw thieves because it is not the truth.
Just roam with some friends like I do. No need to create a new guild ^o^

In the PvP build I would use Ogre runes instead of Pirate for that 4% dmg.
In the WvW build I would change Furious Retaliation with Signets of Power and use Infiltrator’s Signet instead of Blinding Powder as coverdale said.
Hide in Shadows over Withdraw in this build and mmh… not sure but I don’t really like the food you’re using. Try 8% dmg while moving since it’s a backstab build.
I tried a lot of runes for my condi thief and let me say that Krait runes are better since against enemies running -40% condition duration those runes do their work. If you run Balthazar you won’t be so happy. Ye they are fun but I personally think they don’t adapt on every situation like Krait runes do. Also I run 2/0/6/0/6 to increase my condition duration and have another easy access on poison and might with venomous strength
After a lot of builds I made and tried. I came up that one similar to Nightblade one is the best one. Actually I’m running a version more tankier

I prefer 2 one with travelers but I’m not sure about Signet Use… I’d prefer Side Strike or Practiced Tolerance in that build
It could go with master of deception which seems for me the best choice. These 2 traits combined could be good. But then which could be the mini-trait?

Thief class needs a fix. Right now this class is playing with 4skills since Dancing Dagger is simply useless. The 4th skills when you have pistol as secondary weapon is also useless. I don’t see anyone using them because they’re not worth neither a click.
So I was doing a personal story quest ‘The Steel Tide’ and while attacking a foe I used the 3rd skill of my thief (Shadow Strike) and I fall into the ground. Here you can see the screenshots:
