I was doing Dredge fractal last night with some friends and I encountered a pretty wild bug that I’ve never encountered before. We had the bomb running part. Three bombs had already been placed, and I was about to place the fourth. I was standing by the console area where you place them, and I pressed my F button, but it didn’t go through. I moved a little closer to it, and spammed my F button. All of a sudden, it placed the remaining 6 bombs at once in the console. My other party members were nowhere near me, so there was no way that they could’ve just finished it up. I’m not sure if I was lagging or what exactly the issue was, but if recreated I imagine that people could attempt to take advantage of this and move the fractal along faster. Unfortunately I did not take any screenshots at the time, as I was so confused by what had just happened. I tend to run multiple fractals every day, so if for some reason it happens again, I’ll try to get a screenshot.

An npc I have never talked to and probably will never talk to, is the best addition? Not trying to rain on your parade but I really don’t see the big deal.

ANet didn’t confirm that mesmers are a “fabulous” profession (whatever that even means?). It is well-known that mesmers are very good at altering their appearances! There are lots of dialogue options in the open world that mention this. :~)
And if Jennah and Anise do so happen to be trans, why does it matter what goes on under their clothes? Why are you thinking about their genitalia? The “implications” are not unpleasant. Trans people are awesome and deserve to be represented :~)

Hi. I’m looking for a guild.
Here’s what I like to do:
I like to PvP. I am rank 80 in PvP and I mainly play guardian. I consider myself fairly skilled and would prefer to PvP with other skilled players.
I like to do dungeons. This includes fractals. I run the meta and would prefer to do dungeons with people who also run the meta. I wouldn’t consider myself a top speed clearer, but efficiency is my top priority. I have done every dungeon path and I consider myself fluent in nearly every path. I’m at max fractal level and I run a lvl 50 fractal just about every day.
Occasionally, I like to farm Silverwastes.

I would not consider myself a casual player. I’m not the type of person who would freak out on a guildie for making a mistake and I’d hope that they wouldn’t do the same for me. I do not want to join a MASSIVE guild; I want to feel like I’m part of a group, and not just a number or a drone. Small to medium, maybe the smaller end of large, but very active. I can almost always be present for guild missions.
I am a veteran player and the main reason why I want to join a guild is that I’m really, really bored. I want to be in a friendly environment without being forced to play with an overwhelming number of players who run nonmeta builds or who don’t really care about whether or not they’re “good” at the game.

In regards to transferring, I would prefer that I don’t have to transfer. I have transferred many times (6 times!) and I’m happy where I am. However, if I absolutely fell in love with a guild that was based outside of my server and wanted to participate more actively in WvW with them, I would very heavily consider transferring.

I don’t rep any guilds and I get a lot of whispers from strangers who think I’m a brand new player trying to poach me to their guild without caring whether or not I will be a good fit for them, or whether or not they will be a good fit for me. I have lots of room to improve in every aspect of the game, but I want to play with other like-minded individuals. Oh, and I would also prefer if this guild was more on the mature side, like 17+/18+.

Only fear i have is…if you add a special mode with seperate maps and maybe a Megaserver lfg or que tool WvW could suffer a lot.
There are enough GvG guilds out there which are roeming the borderlands searching for fights or waiting for the enemy. On smaller servers they make all the difference and on larger server they are often highly invested in organizing guilds, commanders and coverage.
If they have less incentive to go onto the WvW maps because they can instead have one fight after another in GvG this could be really bad for WvW.This is my only concern and it is only of concern depending how they would implement such a mode. Like i said in general i would love to see such a mode.
After hearing about this thread from some friends I figured I’d come check it out. Granted I am no longer in the GvG/skill group scene any longer and I was never a major contributor to it to begin with, but I don’t think this statement is true at all. I will also preface this by saying that I can’t speak for guilds on lower tier servers who GvG.
Most GvG guilds/skill group guilds don’t PPT. So when they run around in the BLs looking for fights or scrimming other guilds, they aren’t contributing much to WvW score. They’re just taking up map space that could be occupied by people who want to PPT, or defend, or scout, or whatever. Personally I have a lot of respect for GvG guilds/skill groups because they’re shafted so hard, so you’ll never hear me complaining about them not PPTing, but a lot of people DO complain. If two guilds are scrimming above south camp or at the windmill, you’re pretty likely to see someone say, “go to OS” in chat, and pretty much any time you see people at south camp or windmill, it’s because OS is already being occupied. Those people are also some of the same people who will grief the scrim and intentionally get killed to rally people on the other team, or just generally be an annoyance to the two guilds trying to fight. Giving them an instanced area, or some sort of GvG mode specifically for them will take them out of the BLs and give more space for people who actually want to do things that will contribute to WvW score. As someone who’s on Fort Aspenwood where the queues are forever long, I think this would be really beneficial. At least if we have long queues, it’s because the people in the map want to do WvW stuff, not because they’re skill group/GvG guilds who have nowhere else to go and are forced to make the best of the situation they’re given. WvW and GvG are separate entities that seek to accomplish different things, so to me, it makes sense that they should have separate places to do what they want to do.

currently sitting on 8k relics and 100+ pristine (i know, not a huge amount but they’re still eating away at my wallet/bank) with nothing to do with them. i’m hoping HoT offers some more uses for them..
TIL pristine relic merchant detects my pristine relics even if they are not in my bag, but in my bank… so why does that even occupy a slot :[
As for spending them… im curious what skill points will turn into, cuz you can buy 1SP/35fractal relic. Might be a good way spending them.
i learned that relatively recently too! what a colossal waste of bank space. i only have two bank tabs as it is so i’m already in pretty short supply.
most people convert their karma to gold nowadays. so karma is being moved around pretty well i think.

yeah. i am super bored at the moment.
i hate this argument to “go play other games” while we wait for HoT. i like THIS game. if i wanted to play other games, i’d already be playing them. i want SAB; when it first came out i was still a relatively new player and i was very inexperienced and unskilled. SAB was really difficult for me so i didn’t enjoy it. but i’ve improved a lot since then and i want to give it another go! crown pavilion was my absolute favorite thing to do in-game last year & the year before. i wish it would come back. dragon bash was another event i was too inexperienced for so i never really got to enjoy it, i’d like to experience it again.
i think not having some “filler” stuff planned for the interim while we wait for HoT may have been a bit of an oversight, but i know that anet isn’t as large of a team as other game companies, and that they might not have the same budgets. but it’s hard, logging in every day and not finding something exciting to do.
I suspect a lot of people would be happy if we got some more uses for the pristine relics ( many suggested armor/weapon boxes, skins, tonic). Personally I’d say skins should still be RNG ( as skin selectable boxes above 30). tonic can stay uber rare – its pure cosmetic anyway. As someone who still has ~3 alts ( 5 including the engi and necro I don’t use in pve) to gear, i wouldn’t mind being able to buy armor/weapon boxes with a substantial number of pristines.
Since fractals is asc gear gated, it’d be nice to be able to make tangible progression toward it with fractal currency.
The same can be said for guild commendations. The currency needs some fresh new uses.
Maybe HoT will have some nice surprises for us ( doubt it..).

i think that many different designs for 19 weapons is a little aggressive.
but i think a new tier of fractal weapons would be super cool. they should glow like the backpiece, imo. the center of the fully upgraded backpiece has a spinny cube thing (i am the queen of description) and that’s where the glow originates from. each of the weapons has a spinny cube thing, maybe the glow on each weapon could emanate from there?
(also pls update the mist-trail effect on the staff, it’s one of my favorite fractal weapons and so subtle)
…But People insta 80 the original classes now and have no idea how to play them so it’s not a good argument.
to be fair, it’s kind of difficult to learn a class inside and out when you have next to nothing in terms of trait and utility options. at 80 you have access to everything (once you purchase all of your trait books and skills, of course…) and it becomes a LOT easier to experiment with builds and skills to find what you like best. much harder when you’ve got empty trait slots and not enough skill points to unlock a utility.
3. after a sure amount of times X item not dropping, the drop is guaranteed for the next Y amount.
to explain this, precursors are extremely rare so they could drop 1:1.000.000 exotics, when it still doesn’t drop within the lines, it will drop within the next 500 exotic drops.
something more simple like a black lion key could have a drop scale of 1:40.000 black lion chests, if it still doesn’t drop within the lines it will drop within the next 50 black lion chests.so in the end, the rarity is still there but after a while the game will take over the drop rate to a much more aggressive degree.
disclaimer: all drop rate examples are not a suggestion, it’s only to point out how the system works
Yeah, I thought a declining odds system would be neat. If the odds start at 1:1000 then each time you do something that COULD drop the item but doesn’t, they subtract one from your odds for the next roll. Next loot is 1:999 chance, then 1:998 chance, then 1:997 etc. Once you get a drop the odds reset back to the original 1:1000 and start declining again until you get the next one.
That way the system retains the RNG characteristics of the possibility for lucky drops and the anticipation of not knowing exactly which time will be the one that gives you your drop, but at the same time it becomes more deterministic the longer you go without winning the RNG game. After 995 “losses” to the RNG, your odds would be up to 1:5, 1:4, 1:3, 1:2, and finally 1:1 making 1,000 attempts the absolute worst case scenario for event the most horribly RNG cursed player.
Kinda a hybrid where RNG rules at first but then moves steadily toward a deterministic guarantee near the end.

granted i know kittenall about game development but do you REALLY think it requires a grandiose amount of resources to implement something in the gem store that has ALREADY been there once before? especially when there have been items in the past that were implemented into the gem store & then re-implemented again at a later date? we’re not asking for a brand new item, or a re-design, or something that would likely require a team to sit down and design it. we’re asking for something that already exists.
marjory’s axe & dagger, braham’s mace & shield, kasmeer’s staff, rox’s shortbow & quiver… those are all skins that have been implemented in the gem store MULTIPLE times. where were you with your pitchfork and torch when those got re-added?

Just had a few matches on Guardian, I have to go thru least 3-4 uses of Smite to (safely) destroy the Rocket Turret, with auto attacks in between. That’s a total of 25-30secs hitting an inanimate AI just so it’s safe for my teammates to not get #esport-rocketed. Until of course the odd Turrets in midair and you can’t destroy them at all with AoE….so much for easy counter.
I….are you wearing a bloody condi amulet? Ill be honest I have to call you out on this. ONE RAPID FIRE and MAYBE a couple auto attacks afterwords can destroy a rocket turret from a ranger.
Smite hits harder than rapid fire against stationary targets last I checked.

1. turret engi has a lot of counters. instead of whining about how OP it is, why not learn to counter it? metabattle has the full turret engi build + the counters for it. everyone complains about how no-skill engi is, but no one wants to increase their own personal skill level to beat them? sounds more like you just want an easy win.
2. have turrets last for TWENTY SECONDS? then they’re literally useless. might as well delete them from the game at that point. all other summons last longer than 20 seconds, save for like, mesmer clones.say turret engi gets nerfed. okay, fine, whatever. then another build will most likely get buffed in its place — not just for engi, ANY class. then that other build is OP, then the mob will come crying for a nerf, then it gets nerfed and something else gets buffed… do you see what i’m getting at? it’s a never-ending cycle.
You do know there are other classes in the game besides turret engi right? A person can’t spec specifically for turret engi.
i never said spec specifically for turret engi. i said learn the counters. if you can use parts of your build as an advantage against them, then great. if not, then coordinate with your team for the potential situation and chances are you’ll have the upper hand.
Turret engi has a lot of counters ? The only way to counter turrent engi is aoe damage to take down its turrets fast or heavy condition damage or you can go outnumber him and by outnumbering him you leave other nodes defenceless so it is more benefitial to other team. And as you can see at the first post, engis can use their turrets at mid air or some other awkward places which makes no sense !!! Also i suggest you to take a look at the pvp leaderboard. MOST of the top rank players are turret engis. People are farming,increasing their rank by playing turret engi and last night i did like 5-6 matches. and faced with at least 2 turret engis every single match.
any smart necro, mesmer, elementalist, or ranger can very easily take down a turret engi. virtually any other engi build can too. if your teammates have good rotations & map awareness then sending an extra person to a point should only be a minor inconvenience. and if you’re sending two people who aren’t going to fare well against a turret engi in the first place, then it’s just a wasted effort.

That would be nice Evan because some of us care about our win/loss ratio too, not just points/spot on the leaderboard. I don’t think a loss when you only have 4 people (as a solo player) should show up in your loss column when realistically you had no chance of winning.

the revelation came too late to prevent the Pact air fleet from invading. had it come earlier, the attack could have maybe been stopped and a new strategy could’ve been coordinated or the Pact could’ve relocated. this is pretty obviously implied.

i’m honestly at the point where i doubt that we’ll ever see the bunny ears. i see them being requested left and right on the forums and in-game but clearly no one is listening.
So far I’m liking this new MMR system. Please don’t change this. I think you are paired with teammates with a high W-L ratio. Before, you were “punished” for doing good. Before you will be paired with people with a lower win percentage. I don’t know what was the intention of arenanet with that, but the ones who are benefiting from it are not newbies that need nursing, it’s the point farmers who are abusing the old MMR.
i still personally feel like i get punished for doing well. two days ago my friends and i were on one hell of a win streak, probably taking 2-4 wins for every loss. the problem with the win streak was that we were winning against teams that we probably should not have been up against. we just steamrolled them, whether the enemy team was inexperienced or they had a ragequit/disconnect and we ended up going 5v4.
yesterday and today have been much different. we keep going up against teams that steamroll US, and if we aren’t in a full party we get pugs who are pretty much brand new to the game and don’t have the same level of experience as we do. we’ve been matched up against the same (very small, as in the same team of 3-5 players from the same guild) pool of players who we know are very very very very very skilled and well-coordinated.
i realize that this post may make me sound arrogant and i’m really not trying to come across that way. i don’t expect to win every match, nor do i want to. pvp would become insanely boring very fast. but i can say it is extremely frustrating to go up against the same. team. for nearly every match for like two days straight. it just makes me really wonder about the matchmaking system if we either get teams that we roll right over or the same premade team with extremely high levels of coordination?

-the revenant was fun. it was a small glimpse of the class and even then it felt expansive and diverse. i’m excited for the other legends’ release, and i’m excited to see their skills.
i must say that the sound effects heard in the background of the revenant character creation and also the sounds heard when swapping legends and using the elite skills are INCREDIBLE. honestly. such a great touch. my jaw honestly dropped when i heard them the first time.
-i also experienced an issue with the mushroom bouncing even when mastery points were invested into it. i imagine that this is actually intended, and that anet doesn’t want us to access some of those areas yet. but that’s pure speculation on my part.
-the mastery UI is… not good. it’s quite clunky imo. i don’t like how it covers half of my screen. i don’t like how i can’t adjust and resize the box. i really hope that gets improved down the line. i don’t care much for clicking the experience bar below, and i think that the mastery system would fit well into the hero’s panel UI.
-i had fun gliding around, and i’m excited to see the improvements made to the gliding system. i agree that a tutorial might be a nice way to introduce it.
-the wyvern fight has been eased up a bit for the demo/beta, so for the people saying that it was too easy — just wait it out. i believe it’s also been said that there will be multiple wyvern fights and they will all be different? that will be exciting. even with it eased up, i still think it will be a challenging encounter. the mechanics are interesting and unique, and definitely far improved from the current world bosses. i love the idea of being kicked off of the platform and needing to use a glider to get back up.
-the new break bar system is great. sooooo much better than the current defiance system.
-i had big FPS drops/lag when i first loaded in, but this is to be expected since it’s a stress test. i’m one of the many people who is worried about how my computer will run HoT when it’s released, as purchasing a new computer simply is not in the cards for me at all. after i began to run it for a while the client seemed to stabilize.
sorry if this is a bit disorganized. if i come up with anything new during the second round of testing i’ll either add onto this post or make another post in this thread. HoT hype!

YES. I have been having this issue for months. I actually just made a post about it because I honestly haven’t seen anyone else make posts with the same issue.
Okay, this is ridiculous. Does anyone pay attention to the Mac client at all? Nearly every single time I open my trading post, my client crashes.
Actually, to be more specific, it does this. It displays an endless loading screen, and then eventually my entire screen tints to a weird dark yellow/orange color. Then, if I try to go to my settings and hit ‘exit to desktop’ the entire client freezes to the point where I can’t even alt+tab and close the process, I have to restart my entire computer using the power button. This has been bugged for MONTHS. The only """"fix""""" I have is to put my client into windowed mode and then go to my activity monitor and quit the GW2 process and then restart.
It’s been like this forever. It’ll start working for a little while and then it’ll go right back to doing the same kitten. This is so irritating. If I’m in a dungeon or fractal and need to buy consumables I can’t because chances are the second I open my trading post, the entire client is just going to go to kitten.

i commented on another thread about this, but cosign. i hate the green downed bar.
it’s especially horrible for warriors and thieves (and i suppose guards and mesmers but not quite as much) in things like pvp and wvw and fractals, as these are generally the classes that perform a lot of resing using their stealth skills/res traits or in a warrior’s case, warbanner. it’s harder to see who is downed, and my party members are reaching full dead because my eye simply doesn’t jump to the green bar the way it did the red one.
i don’t like the charr. can we get rid of them because i don’t like them?

human or norn female because i’m unoriginal and i like it that way.
the green downstate bar is AWFUL. if i don’t see a teammate going down on my screen, then i’m DEFINITELY not gonna see it in my party UI now. i roll warrior in high-level fractals and i’ve had party members full die because i was unable to warbanner them because i didn’t even know they had gone down. please change it back to red
i don’t think it’s fair to dictate what people can/can’t or should/shouldn’t be offended or upset by. something that is offensive to the people here who are saying “toughen up” may not be offensive to someone else, and it wouldn’t be fair of them to tell you to “toughen up” over it. just as it isn’t really fair for you to tell OP to “toughen up.” saying that just doesn’t solve anything.
sorry that the character dialogue upset you, OP. and sorry that you were forced to reroll a character race that you didn’t want to play initially. guild wars 2 is generally pretty awesome at inclusion and representation. but unfortunately, the game is run by people, and people are inherently flawed and as a result, the game isn’t perfect. there is no option to turn off character voices in the open world at the moment, but one day maybe there will be. if you want to continue playing your asura, you could turn off game sounds (which is not a perfect solution, i know, because it does not eliminate the usage of derogatory words).
The wings also seems to disappear when my ghastly shield is stowed
i’m pretty sure all back items disappear when you have a shield stowed.
