I find it incredible, this old syndrome of looking for ways to punish newbies. Newbies usually have only 1 pip because of the level, if they get lucky, plus 3 by the position of the server. In outnumbered maps, its a wasteland, so the few that are there do not even make a difference.

The only thing I agree with is imposing limitations on free-accounts. A limitation to use siege based on WvW level, which would only be removed if the player has Heart of Thorns or get some WvW level. Usually legitimate newbies ignore siege and this will not hurt them.

This isnt about punishing newbies, this is about ensuring that the game is about wvw and not “how to get as many pips as possible”

Pips are the rewards for playing the game, not afking and ignoring the actual mode of the game.
There are too many people at present playing this mode only for pips and not for the actual game mode itself and these are the people we need to remove from wvw.

Why should someone who simply joins the game and every 10 mins repairs a wall get the same amount of pips who play the game properly?

This is not about how many pips each person gets per tick, but how to stop those that dont care off the maps

I agree that 1 pip per tick is far too low for a lot of people and this is something that needs to be looked at. New players should not have to wait until level 150 before they start getting a pip, this should be given as 1 pip regardless and then +1 per x amount of levels.

There are a few simple things that can be done such as +1 pip if you join a commanders squad. This would encourage people to join the comm squad.

I’ve always liked the idea of siege priority, so if someone has a higher mastery they can kick them off the siege, rather than just the person who placed the siege. Alternatively when someone is on the siege then there is an icon above their head that shows what level mastery they have…

A few ideas about how to improve the state of wvw:

Walls and Siege – No longer give participation and xp

The reason behind this is to prevent the current influx of peope that are there only to farm pips for rewards. These people stand around afk until a wall is broken and then repair them to get xp etc. These are also the same people that randomly throw down siege in stupid places and build them for xp.

Free Accounts

At present free accounts can enter WvW at level 60 and dont have full skills, traits etc so already provide an easy kill for level 80 players. These player also are made with the intention of being active on an enemy server to waste supplies etc. These account should not be allowed to enter WvW when in free and should only be allowed once they have purchased the full game. They should however be allowed to enter and play eotm as this would let them have a taster of wvw environment without actually affecting the gameplay.

Server Linkings

If a high placed server is linked to a low placed server then the low placed server transfer cost should be the same as the high placed server to prevent server stacking for that matchup. The same applies if the high server is showing as full then the lower server should also temporarily be placed as full until next linkings.

Outnumbered

Reduce the pips to 3 as 5 is currently to many and if you enter the map with less than 5 mins remaining then you cannot score pips until the next full 5 mins.

Map Hopping

To prevent players moving from map to map in order to get the outnumbered buff benefits the participation level should be reduced back to 0 when you change map. Now I know sometimes you have to jump maps to defend structures, however it is easy to get to level 3 anyways and at the most your only gonna miss 1 lot of rewards.

AFK at Spawn

Now we have all seen people afk at spawn waiting for their pips to run down and taking up space that another player could enter and use or waiting at spawn until they need to go and flip a camp in order to keep their participation level up.

When players are at spawn they have the determined icon placed on them. When this icon is placed on player then they cannot recieve pips. This prevents players afking at spawn. Now those that afk in a structure we cant really prevent, however if that structure is flipped they will be killed and after 5 mins will be ported to spawn anyways at which point the determined kicks in and no pips recieved.

Logging off Pips

Ok, so you decide to call it a day and you can probably squeeze out another 15 mins worth of pips but doing so prevents others from joining, why not simply have an option to consume all and provide pips based on this.

Improvement to the Pip-System

In my opinion, the pip system right now is making it to attractive for people to go AFK on an outnumbered map. Also you just have to keep up your Participation.

This could be a solution:

1.) Increase the needed pips for single chests by ~20% to compensate for 2.)

2.) Put an additional Tab at the WvW window for extra pip aquisitions like:

- each 20 Playerkills -> 1 pip
- Capture Stonemist Castle -> 3 pips
- Capture a keep -> 2 pips
- Capture a tower -> 1 pip
- Revive 10 players -> 1 pip

And to compensate the outnumbered farm:

Remove the outnumbered +5 pips per tick. Instead, outnumbered players gain double pips by the extra quests named in 2.)
This will cause people to be active on outnumbered maps, whilst still getting more rewards/pips

This adds a little tournamentish tone to WvW. The additional tab could be made similar to the achievements, with filling bars. Once you filled the bar you get the pips.

There is far too many threads like this that suggest gaining pips for capturing towers etc. This will never work as this would just promote constant flipping of objectives like sm. Why would you want to defend an upgraded sm for 0 pips, when you can flip it for 3 pips? This will just turn wvw into eotm where blobs avoid each other purely for pips.

I’m not here suggesting the current method is working, which it isnt but this is not the solution.

The veteran got thousands of ticket in the past three WvW Tournaments. They can rush for the new rewards faster than anybody. It is pretty unfair to the new WvW players. My suggestion is anet should launch another three WvW tournament for us. I will be awsome.

See the dozens of responses on tournaments.

It permanently damaged the population in WvW.

And it’s not unfair that the reasons WvW vets had those tickets is because they played the game.

If you don’t have the tickets it’s because of one of at least 2 reasons:
You chose NOT to play GW2, as in you didn’t own it OR

Those that chose not to partake in the tourny is only the fault of themselves seems a bit strange that the complaints are onlyhappening now becoz wvw FINALLY got some rewards after going through years of nothing while PVE and PVP seem to have gotten everything…

I think raids, fotm, new pve maps, living story, sab, events, etc were not part of the game price too. They are new added content. Does it mean that anet can delete them.

The reason why there wont be any more tournaments is because they were not a success that that current format. What happend was that this caused people to stack servers in order to win, thats all the tounry achieved. Why would you bring back a tourny in the smae format that caused so much mess? Wvw is still trying to recover from this now.

If an alternative tourny could be created that didnt cause server stacking etc and provided people with skirmish tickets rewards then yeah i’m sure people would like this, however not in the previous format…

Weird K/D spikes FSP/Gandara/Deso matchup

I think these are numbers are possible and not necessarily sign of botting or glitch.

FSP used to be proud to be the best open field fighting server in EU, but in recent match ups, I have seen them fight only
1) if they have a significant number advantage e.g. 50 FSP vs 30 others
2) if they have a position advantage e.g. fight near sieged fully upgraded structure owned by them and of course using all possible siege on enemy.

Gandara+ is acting in similar ways. I am NOT blaming anyone, I also use siege. This is all legal and so called smart fighting. But it will inflate K/D numbers as long as there is an enemy server which keeps feeding them deaths.

PS. Before somebody flames me, I know there are still a few brave players on FSP, but I was talking general. And yes, Gandara also still has some gankers and many prime time guilds, but mostly I see a big blob.

What I always find amusing about these kind of quotes is that we could easily say the same about other servers for example. Over the past few weeks figthing them all I have seen is servers running into towers etc and building min 5 superior ac’s and then trying to bait us into fighting under them so they can score some easy kills and again the only time they seem to come out and fight is when the outnumber us 5 to 1 etc. In this kind of scenario its just easier to turn around and let them sit there firing their ac’s and we go fight someone that wants to fight.

Rather than come on here and spread these kind of excuses be aware that all servers these days are choosing simply to fight under ac fire and hide in towers unless they have superior numbers.

What needs to happen from Anet is to reduce the impact arrow carts as the amount of times we have seen server blobs run back into these towers / keeps etc and hide behind them has become a joke. No server should really be resorting to this kind of fight.

The total time add-up is incorrect because it doesn’t factor the number of chests per reward tier. So, for example, while the Wood tier does take 25 pips per chest, there are 4 chests for a total of 100 pips before you can move on to Bronze. Because of that, it takes significantly more time than what you’ve got listed.

A lot of people have asked about how long does it take if I am getting x amount of pips per tick, therefore I have attached the below as a guide:

The left column shows the number of pips per tick (min 1, max 17 every 5 mins) – this based on (Rank, Commander, Loyalty, Skirmish Position and Outnumbered Buff)

The top row is the chest and how many pips are required to complete each one.

The middle values represent the time taken for each stage.

The total time on the right side gives and estimate for how long the whole rewards will take to complete.

So I asked in another topic about Pips and how the reset works. According to one player’s response they reset every week meaning if I get two chests… I have no way to get to the rest of the chest unless I devote more time etc….

Is this true Mr. / Ms. / Mrs. ANET? I see nothing in the update notes about Pips resetting so clarify by any chance? Is progression of Pip chests interrupted weekly or continue on like PvP.

Pips are earned every tick and are awarded based on the following:

Your world’s position during the skirmish (first, second, or third).
Your WvW rank.
Commanding a squad containing at least five people.
Playing on the same world for at least three weeks.
Playing on a map in which you are outnumbered.

Pips cannot be earned if you have recently transferred or if you do not have enough participation.

You must play on a world for an entire match in order to be eligible for earning pips.

You can earn a maximum of 175 skirmish tokens per matchup, this is done by gaining pips every 5 mins depending on multiple factors (wvw level etc)

At the end of the matchup the whole thing resets and you start from the beginning again meaning if you only unlocked the wooden chests for example in the matchup, once the reset kicks in you have to start again at the wooden chests, therefore to get all 175 you need to complete all chest up to and including diamond.

If you do manage to get all the way to diamond and complete and within the same matchup then the last chests are repeatable, however you do not get any further skirmish rewards.

tbh the queues have become a joke and those that are regular wvwers are now suffering as a result of the pvers going to wvw.

Queues over 150 now, managed to make my tea and eat it and im still not even in yet… Zzz

Anet need to implement a system that those that were regular wvwers can instead jump the queue over pvers.

Hi All

Came accross this thread and thought wow, goes to show how nice this community is compared to a lot of others.

I’ve always had a love of fire and when I first started this game and saw the fused skins I thought wow, however i’ve never been able to afford the one i really want…

Is this a bug or intentional?

So approx 30 people attacking our keep, I ran into the keep, noticed that the 30 opposition were coming towards me, so I thought run away and live to fight another day and run out of the portal, however as they were right next to me by that time the small earth walls popped and blocked my route out.

If this is designed to block those attacking the keep why does it also block those whose keep this is? Surely this is wrong? I mean how does this benefit the defender?

The Lunar new year fireworks that sit in your inventory dont count

spread through out the pavilion and in wvw (prob other locations also) are firecrackers that you need to find and interact with (these count)

That isn’t true, the npc asks for ram tokens so you can buy more envelopes.
So why are we not getting those?

Probably as per khani.4786’s post thats why, most ppl in map chat seem to think no rewards are given and the only way to get them is every 10 wins per the achivements panel

Each 10 wins (repeatable) provides you with the following:

1 token of hr dragon ball champion, 5 lucky little envelopes and rare gear +1 achievement point

How do you expect ppl to play this game when it takes 30 secs to cast a spell and healing is nigh on impossible??

When ur fighting 80 vs 20 you have no chance when the lag decides nothing is going to work…

Idiots Guide to EOTM

I’m sure many people will agree with the below helpful guide for EOTM

- Ensure you follow a commander that has no idea where they are going

- Only wear zerker, so that when you attack a boss u die fast and then cry for a res

- When fighting the red keep boss, make sure you stand in the fire and burn to death, then cry for a res

- Watch as the commander refuses to use scorps as he has no idea what they are for and instead would rather PVD the door

- Shout INC when you see 1 opposition and watch as your entire zerg runs / ports away back to spawn afraid to fight 1 person for fear that it is a zerg

- When above the workshop ensure that you jump down to your death rather than jump onto the ledges provided.

- When at the top of observatory, make sure you jump all the way down to your death then cry for res because you cant jump down the ledges

- Make sure that you are running no supply so when the commander places a ram you have none to build with

- When a mesmer provides a portal into the keep, make sure you avoid this and instead stand there and try and pvd the door by urself.

- When a commander places a ram, make sure if you are not a master you get on it first, I mean you want to take this as slowly as possible right?

- Make sure when you are fighting a boss you use knockback to slow down the fight and ensure that the warriors waste their big skills and have to move to fight again

And last but not least – when in EOTM, spam the chat asking what EOTM is…

The biggest problem is that they add you to their block list then whisper you meaning you cannot even reply to them..

Block them back. And report if they whisper something reportable (which they often do). It’s a good chance at least some of those people will get suspended, which may improve their behaviour.

Yeah I do block them, but only they have whispered me first and thrown abuse…

Plus its always funny to see what people say…

Then you report them for the message they have sent you, when its is abusive…

Was on my ranger and a thief attacked me, so I fought back and killed him, he then sends me a whisper calling me a noob amongst other things…. defo a l2p issue, not my fault the thief thought I was easy bait, but didn’t realise I was running condi ranger at that time and bled him dry…

Thieves though are defo by far the worst at this, as they think they can stealth upto you, kill you and stomp you safely using shadow refuge, however as soon as you get them out of stealth or fill them full of condis, most get confused and simply die…

This was their reply -

The unique name muerte.3842 has only ever been used on GW nowhere else

The password used for GW was never used on any other game or site

How could this possibly therefore have been used on other sites or games when the combination of unique name and password have only ever been used on GW?

Also my email address associated with this account doesnt show on this forum or within the game so how did one get my email address from unique GW name??

I sent ticket to anet support with email address that this actually came from using the headers and the IP address and anet’s response was simply to fob me off and not investigate… then send me a link asking how they did? erm… they didnt help at all…

Did you get a precursor or something worth a lot of gold drop just before this email?

I got a precursor dropped and within 20 mins i got the exact same email, sent ticket to anet and they told me my account details we used on some other site or game and thats how they got it, however all my names etc on gw are unique therefore could only have come from GW, but anet declined to even check my fake email even though I gave them both the correct email address this fake email came from as well as the IP it came from…

that’s kind of like what we had in season 1. people complained that all the matches were blowouts because you had servers at the top of the league matched up against servers at the bottom.

look at servers 7 8 and 9. after the first week (which is pretty even), they all get to experience 3 weeks of getting utterly crushed.

at least the swiss style matchups put the winners together with the winners (which means servers at the top and bottom of the league can expect to see each other repeatedly).

I understand what you are saying, however “unique” means just that… not “the same”..

What we need more than anything is server balance, rather than letting everyone stack on the top team in each league just so they can walk over all the other teams and get max rewards for doing as little as possible, while those that fight on smaller servers get nothing for actually putting up a good fight but losing due to coverage…

This is where the real problem lies…

With the tourny over 4 weeks and each team playing each other once then this will always happen, this is just the way the tourny is…

the problem with this is small servers vs larger servers, meaning small servers will always lose as this is simply coverage wars…

SFR will win this tounry without any effort due to the fact that they can simply gain 20k plus every night when most other eu servers dont have that coverage at that time..

they might as well simply dish out the rewards for the full tourny now and been done with it…

FSP had 2 warriors, 1 mesmer and 1 ele on the outer wall of SM last night and then they went to the same spot and appeared at inner… This happened last night on more than one occasion.

They ran to the guards dragged them to the corner spot and then appeared on the top of the wall at inner…

and before ppl come on here and say they were ported by a mesmer, they were not… i was standing right at that spot where they glithced too at that time as i wasnt aware of this exploit…

im not here to whine, just to make a point that ppl like this should not be able to easily get away with this…

doesnt look like they have any queues atm coz he comes straight back into EB… so he gets away with it time and time again…

I know name shaming is forbidden, but this guy has done it 3 times now going to heart of the mists to avoid dying so something needs to be done… i dont care if he killed me but taking the cowards way out is pathetic.. sorry but really…

You getting an infraction because he is a coward won’t make him any braver.

Best to edit your post to remove the name and just send a PM or submit a ticket instead.

i’ve removed however this is just really sad… ive sent him in game whisper anyways calling him a coward and to be a man and just die… he he ;-) jokes

the thing that annoys me most though is that he is doing this simply to contest the keep and avoid ppl using the wp… and he gets away with doing this by simply mapping to somewhere else to avoid dying…

Just fought an SFR guardian on EB who tagged our keep… downed him and was just about to stomp when he ALT + F4’d to avoid… and then he comes back and again does the same….

To me this is a really pathetic and cowards way to avoid dying and those that do this should be punished more..

Due to this coward taking the easy way out i do not get any loot or xp from this even though i fair and square killed him…

FSP are a really good server and have given a good account of themselves this week and im not doubting that many of them are very nice people who spent a lot of time doing what they did to give us a good fight, however when hackers like the one this morning open all the gates for a zerg to come walking in kinda spoilt the fight.

A lot of Gandarans logged off WvW because they knew the fight was over the minute the FSP zerg walked into our keep after the invisi golem had opened it for them.

Lets hope the next fight goes just as well but without the hackers spoiling the fun.

Are you saying that we won this week because of hackers? How dare you stain our victory like that! I was up all night thursday night, as was several others! I dont think I’ve ever seen that many online on a thursday night / friday morning!

I can understand that you’re, rightfully, angry about the hacker, but that gives you no right to stain a hardfought victory. I’ve never before seen my server, FSP, work this hard for a victory. Every commander, every guild, worked their kitten off these past few days, to beat Gandara, despite gandara being the crown-prince of silver league eu!
I do not condone hacking, but I still think you should see this (attached).

Week after week after week throughout the whole tournament FSP hackers have taken the entire borderlands for both Gandara and other servers by using an invisible golem, the FSP zerg then follows straight in behind and caps, time and time again. Now to say that they listen to TS, yeah fine could be, but explain why then weeks ago on this forum when it first kicked off people from FSP stated “we do not cap anything when we know the hackers have opened”, to then stand and watch the hacker do this, then cap?

Yes you started off the week really well and gained a lot of points on us, which we then fought back to 2 thousand only for the FSP zerg and hackers to take everything again this morning just so you could win.

Now a fair fight with you guys is really fun, however this mornings action just to simply beat us makes this whole contest a shambles.

I know there are hackers on all servers and it’s down to anet to do something about this, but people coming on the forums from FSP stating “we dont not take advantage” when there is photo and video proof is simply ridiculous.

the problem is though, you dont have 1 hacker, you have more than 1 hacker and every week so far in this tournament FSP have taken advantage of these hacks to gain points.

The invisi golem that takes down the gates, for the zerg to run in and cap
The ele who spams aoe down on your for unknown hits….
the ranger, the necro and the thief all doing the same thing…

Unknown hit after unknown hit.. we all have the screenshots and videos to prove these…

many a time have we stood and watched the gates/ walls being taken down and then a full FSP zerg run in and cap, was done just earlier on EB as Gandara was almost level on points then a hacker comes along in EB, opens the gates and the FSP zerg take our stuff just to get more points to win this week..

Now im up for a fair fight and i know a lot of ppl on FSP prefer a fair fight but when you guys cheat to win this leaves an unfair taste in may ppl’s mouths.

If FSP had of won fair and square this week then fair do and good play, but all week and all tournament FSP have hacked their way through and Gandara is not the only server to notice this…

I love the comment “It’s pugs occasionally abusing it, we try to avoid taking advantage of this, it’s not easy you know.”

So explain to everyone why the FSP is following the invisi hackers and capping once he has removed the gates??? we all have screenshots of this happening, so no point denying it..

I’m not saying everyone FSP does it but there are so many FSP ppl that simply feel the need to cheat to win…. Look at EB atm, FSP have hacked their way into keeps, towers etc just so they can beat us this week…. so sad, but true….
