Hey, I’m dusting off my mesmer, since I kinda miss playing her. I’m looking for a build that is working for open world content, events, tagging and solo content like living story. I have full chrono trait line unlocked, so that won’t be an issue. I know that Mesmer is probably not the best choice for events and tagging, but I’m looking for a fun and relaxed play style. I just have no idea what kind of build would be suitable today. Any suggestions on this?
After last patch I’m missing the first skill Dragon’s Wing every time I’m trying do the mini game. I tried on different characters, etc. Did they change something with the patch or is it a bug? Either way it’s extremely annoying and I’m hoping for a solution to this.
Edit: I added a screen shot

Would you say there’s a good reason to go Vipers over Zerker in higher level fractals or both work just as well?
Hello,
I’m currently playing Sinister (exotic) Necro in open world, but I want to use it more, especially in high level fractals. So since I’m gonna craft ascended armor, I was thinking mainly Viper’s since it’s used in Raids. I wonder if it’s used in Fractals also or if should go Sinister? How is necro in high level fractals in general? Any condi build suggestions that is used in Fractals?
I think you have to buy the 2nd box for Karma from vendo anyways cus you get the crafting item for your precusor.. And you need two of them.
I had the same issues with Kudzu tier 1.. I learned it on my Artificer.. Recipe says it can be used for all weapon crafting profession! So either missleading or a bug. I\ll try buy new recipe for Karma
My SSD was full, it works now. Can close this topic.
This problem suddenly occured today. I have restarted my PC and client, but I can’t get rid of this message. What do I do?
I didn’t read full thread, but I have question for those who tried the druid.. Would some sort of LB+Staff build for open world/PvE content?
After 2 years I decided to roll a warrior and I’m enjoying it a lot. I’m currenly crafting my ascended gear for WvW. Im going for 2/0/6/0/6 build with melandru runes a/sh + gs. With full zerker ascended armor, dolyak signet and traits that will put me at 3016 armor. However, I wonder if I should throw in one or two Knight pieces just to get the armor up abit.. In case I have to pop the signet and end below 90% hp, my armor will go down. Would it rather be better to have 3000 base armor without the dolay signet/thick skin? And at what point would there be just too much armor?
I tried running this build in pvp with knight trinket, which puts me at 3500 armor.. But with more than 1 burst classes targetting you, you can still die in a few seconds.. So idk.. What would you recommend..? I’m planing to use this both in zerg and solo, btw,
what about the miniatur collector achievments? so u wont be able to get them now that u no longer can put pets into collectors tab? great
“New achievements will also now be available for completing Wardrobe account unlocks for the series 1, 2, and 3 minis.”
They old ones will probably just morph into these new ones and the old ones will go away. As they are essentially the same thing.
so instead of, like now, i can buy all pets and re sell, i’ll probably have to dump 100x more gold and then destroy all the pets just to get achievment. Great, Anet….
what about the miniatur collector achievments? so u wont be able to get them now that u no longer can put pets into collectors tab? great
It’s fixed!! Ty Anet!
Let’s see if it will be fixed with this upcoming patch today. If not, well.. it’s a shame you can’t fix such fundamental things like a story quest…. I was going level through story, but hey I’m level 80 since over a week back.
bis = best in stats
best in slot*
So frustrating Pls don’t let us wait a month before it’s fixed..
Which one is the best, in your opinion, in terms of loot? Assuming you not doing them for a particular gear set.
why stop at forging the pact? Noticed it’s lvl 62 story…
I’m leveling a new char and I’d like to do my personal story in one go.. Although leveling is fairly easy, I’d like to reach a certain level and then finish the remaining levels through personal story. But I have no idea how many levels it would give doing story from start to the end (or at least ‘til the kill zhaitan part). Of course I’ll get some additional exp from events and dailys too… So, does anyone have an estimation of when I should start with my personal story for this purpose?
From WvW perspective, whats your opinion on wearing full celestial gear with a staff build? I don’t mind celestial with S/x or d/x, but I just never understood the point of using it with staff. What are your thoughts on that?
Building around grenade kit with celestial gear would be the best choice, imho.
Oh.. =/ I thought it was one full tier (any of the 3). oh well, that makes it easier I guess.
I guess I must have misunderstood the description of this achievement…
“Win 1 third tier matches with an active gambit”. I finished whole tier 1 with a gambit (but different ones) and didn’t get any achievement. I assumed 1/3 is one tier (since there are 3 total).
I like your 3kit celestial build. Thinking of running it with zergs (with minor alternations maybe). Whats your thought on that?
thx..
14555654 chars
then i tried it in zerg v zerg annd you know
(Greater Marks) so i want to share that build to you guys.
How did it work out for you?
that’s not a necro build :P
Which is current meta build for tpvp? Ignoring minion master build…
Don’t take this the wrong way but posts like this are annoying. This is team game. No one can really quantify how much of that is you and how much of it is the other players on your team.
Shouldn’t you then apply the same logic even if guardians got a damage boost?
Sigil of force was mandatory when sigils shared their CD, now its not really good ^^
What would you take instead?
If you are talking about PvE, pretty much everything is just meeh, cause it’s already easy as it is. Also Ele has one of the top dps in game, so idk why you would consider it to be less efficient than other classes.
Why change what isn’t broken?
I think op just wishes to have each attunements to be niched into a certain purpose, rather than have to use all attunements all the time.
Hi, I’m new GW2 player, what is this 0/0/2/6/6 build I heard here for PVE ?
I usually see a lot of Fire focused builds.
Thanks.
There’s no such meta build for PvE. For WvW/PvP however…
I play d/f celestial build in pvp 2/0/2/4/6 with SoR and I find that it has tons of CC and damage mitigation. Overall the build is strong. You have tons of healing with this set up and traits, permanent regeneration/passive healing… Water also provides 2 chills with relatively low CD and a daze. Invulnerability in earth with 50 sec cd is way better than mist form and more what any other class gets on their regular weapon sets (blurred frenzy might be a strong evade, but it will root you and you can’t do anything else). You have 2 interrupts and an additional stun. 1 reflect + projectile destroyer…. One immobilize in earth… You have plenty, and that not even mentioning any utilities!
Most importantly, you should be able to win 1v1 against any class. You should also be able to out last small scale fights. Put it in such context, there is really no issue there. The issue lies rather within lack of build diversity and having to sacrifice one thing for an other. E.g. dagger off hand gives more damage and mobility, while focus is more defensive and used more as a utility. Or all you looking to win solo against 3-5 players on your own? In such case, that should never be a criterion for class balancing. What I can agree upon is that Ele is somewhat harder to play than other classes, but it’s not because they lack the tools… It’s just harder to learn. And you also have to accept the fact that you can’t just face-tank unlimited amount of damage… something it seems ppl tend to forget.

k. One of the new build is d/f with rune of strength and celestial amulate with cantrips and signet of restoration.
The biggest change however is the fact that they significantly buffed the Celestial Amulet which open a lot of doors for a few other builds to shield.
I like the build you are talking about. I’ve wondered how it would translate for WvW (zerging). With some alternations if needed, of course. Any opinion on that?
(1): +25 Vitality
(2): +10% Chill Duration
(3): +50 Vitality
(4): 25% chance when struck to cause an ice nova. (Cooldown: 30s)
(5): +100 Vitality
(6): +20% chill duration; +7% damage against chilled foes.
I tried it at the different class NPCs in mist just to see what the ice nova actually does. Let them beat on me, but it didn’t proc even once. Anyone knows if it’s bugged?
I’m running Dire build in WvW with following trait distribution:
2 – III
0
6 – IV / VI / XI
2 – VI
4 – III / X
Full dire armor and krait runes. However, I can’t decide if I should take 2 points from either DA or Acrobatics and go 6 points in Trickery for XIII. That would also give additional 100 condi damage. But I love both traits in DA and Acro, though I’m leaning more towards taking points from Acro. Suppose it’s just a matter of preference, but what would you do?
And then one more thing about the utilities. I run Blinding Power, shadowstep and Skale Venom. So pretty much what everyone else run. My question is though why do ppl pick Skale venom over Spider Venom? Since Spider venom stack 5 times and Skale only 3. Is it only cus Spider venom simply increase in duration rather than stacks per tick?
I remember condition trapper rangers and how fun they used to be…. Now I see more ppl playing it again. So I wonder if there’s some new build ppl started using again? Or might be it’s some spirit/trapper-hybrid build, I’m not sure..
@ Paleeshi
It seems you didnt get what we were talking about.
Dutchiez was saying that knight or cavalier was best to keep survivabily while not lower the dps too much.
sorry, missed that.
and no, soldier is best, since you max out power, which is by far the stat to maximise.
=> http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1li5q3/breakeven_points_of_power_vs_precision_mathtable)
Lol, berserker and soldiers gear have the same amount of power. Also, that thread was about Power vs Precision (berserker vs assassins gear).
Am I missing something here? Can anyone point me to videos of this type of build in action, possibly with some explanation of how it is used in pvp? Or is there a different build that would be better suited to the playstyle I described above?
Didn’t read all the answers in this thread, but….
This is exactly the build I run. I picked it up after I watching some engineer in spvp. Only difference is that I run elixir gun instead of elixir S. Didn’t know it was one of the top builds out there, since I haven’t played engineer in a while.. Either way, I disagree with you. I love this build and it MELTS targets, literally.. Especially 1v1. On several occasions I’ve killed 1v2 thieves. It may be a little squishy, that’s my only concern, but it has enough sustain and you shouldn’t die 1v1.. =/ Also don’t forget to use the rifle (something I usually forget cus of the kit swapping and cus I’m used to P/S).. You can do really high burst damage with it duo to celestial trinket and might stacks.
Well, the ascended version of this in WvW would have a slight increase to all stats compared to PvP version. But for WvW you have the freedom to adjust the stats in a particular direction, if you like. I guess my question would be if full celestial is good for this kind of build in WvW or if I need more of some other stat to make it viable (and by that I mean being able to survive and kill stuff).
Hi guys, I recently started running this build in PvP and I really enjoy it more than any other build I’ve played so far; http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQFAUlUUpErtbxkLseNCbBNqxI6N2xq85DEgkC-TJxCwAAuAAXeAAu2fIbZAA
It’s pretty standard I guess, but I enjoy it so much that I’d like to make a WvW variation of this build. I’m asking cus I want to craft ascended gear, so whats your opinion on this and what would you change? Would you go full celestial or pick a few rabid trinkets instead?
Oh and btw, it’s for roaming and small scale, but I’d also like it to be viable in larger groups.
I started leveling my thief again. Note that I’m not going to use her for PvE. In PvP I run s/d build and in WvW I’ll be going p/d.. Mostly roaming and some group. But I wonder if anyone have a viable WvW p/p build. I LOVE p/p but I know it’s mediocre to every other weapon set. If anyone in is running P/P in WvW (solo or group), mind sharing your build and experience with it. I’d like something somewhat tanky, but be able do do decent damage as well..
My point is though, almost everyone is running some sort of cheesy build right now in WvW, don’t see why I couldn’t run p/d then.. because I will still run P/D as well as D/D. :P
I completely agree with you on this one. Honestly, people should play what ever they enjoy the most, whether it’s considered cheesy or not. Either way, a lot of people consider thief being cheesy already, so it doesn’t even matter what kind of build you play as long as you play a thief, you are cheesy! :P
Rudy: I was actually thinking S/F (idk why I put dagger in off hand). It got a bit more condi cleans, plus with stability in earth, u are allowed to channel heal w/o interrupts. Either way though, you are probably right – it still not enough for condi cleans. I might tweak with a d/d build after all.. Just find ranged is easier to play and like the burst better.

I was thinking something like this maybe; http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArIhMMKZ25wnZAHAb8HYFEDFHBCAdwSXBA-TVSGABA8AAAZ/hiUG8o6PUpEMhTAQUK9ITLQZ6AIFQEDjA-w
Maybe a bit off topic… But what kind of traits/utilities/weapon are you running with celestial armor? I’m looking to make a celestial build for WvW. I’d prefer a S/D build, but I’m not sure if it’s optimal with celestial gear and a fresh air build (wouldn’t imagine using S/D without fresh air), so maybe time to switch to d/d?
