Only one thing to say to this. Skills weren’t balanced around tiers. They may or may not be working towards it but it wasn’t originally intended.
It was a needed change to bring it on par with thief/mesmer downed abilities
Then wouldn’t it be better to remove every class but 1? Not every class needs to be perfectly equal in every possible way. A slightly more durable downed state can be balanced by dealing less damage. I haven’t really played something else then an elementalist so I don’t know were other professions stand on terms of downed state but it like the elementalist’s downed state got reverted to the state it was in in the first months after release.
I don’t mind the change..at least it no longer counts as another knockdown when it expires like it use to.
I saw it as a trade-off. You “re-entered” downed state, resetting health to the next tier but also gaining an extra downed penalty point in the process.
In beta there were no tiers in skills, thus saying that they should be more powerful is silly.As this would reduce the amount of skill customisation even further. Whether or not it was a good choice isn’t the core of the problem here. A net wanted to avoid creating a game were a certain class has to be a certain race because of the racial skills. They circumvented this problem by making the racial skills sub par to comparable professions skills. The fact that elites are lacklustre in general (in my opinion) is once again a different matter.
If anyone else is wondering, clips horribly with the shoulders. You can barely see the back piece.
What do you think of the nerf on vapor form?
I think that it was uncalled for, for me it is a huge step backwards.

Will a visible back piece like the fractal capacitor (some or al tiers of it) have clipping issues with the Sylvari male t3 cultural armour? Both of them are a big investment and I would like to know in advance if they could be combined. Thanks in advance!

Many good suggestions in this thread which would really improve the system in my opinion. No general PvE or WvWvW vertical progression. Tone down ascended gear to exotic or give it an extra slot next to infusion so it isn’t useless for non-fractal content.

Is it just me or are there at this time too many unknown variables concerning the future vision of Anet on gear? I love working towards getting my character the best amount and combination of stats. But at this point I’m actually not sure how to proceed. I have too many questions. What is going to happen with infusion, will it become worth something outside of FotM? Is sacrificing the upgradeslot for an infusion worth it? Which items are BiS and will stay like that for a substantial amount of time? Do I need to prepare for a nearing gear treadmill?
Maybe it would be nice to have some sort of elite signet, that works with charges like some sigils do. Cooldown and damage/ utility of the skill scale up with the amount of charges you let it gather. Think like the charging mechanic but more passive and on the background.
If gw2 is like gw1, I think it would be very hard. If I’m not mistaking, there is 1 “head slot”. Normally hair fills this slot, but when you wear a real hat, not just a mask, it replaces the hair to prevent clipping issues.
