Go away. I’m trying to enjoy the Steam sale going on and I don’t need no stinkin’ AR shenanigans keeping me from living the dream of playing Skyrim as the Incredible Hulk and driving around in a convertible as I face-smash puny dragons.
some people drink to ease the pain… but whatever works for you
Last time the kind folks over on AR got a bit unruly, I ended up making a certain fireworks video.

Linked servers and shared scoring is a great idea that’s been pitched numerous times by different people but never seemed to pick up steam. I’m hoping they’ll be a bit more open-minded to community ideas given the lackluster inaugural season.
So after all these weeks of anticipating a GoM/HoD rematch, we finally get one… but there’s no Zombieland for you to fight or PAXA for us to fight.
VLK is now a role play guild. That is all.
I thought you guys always were a RP guild. Normal WvW guilds don’t have poetry contests. :P
Of course I’d like to see GoM win it, but I think it’s too early to call us the favorite. Every team in bronze has talented squads that can terrorize any potential matchup. Once activity picks up for leagues and the herds of achievement hunters are unleashed, it’s really anyone’s game.
As long as everyone is fighting their kittens off, I’m happy wherever we place. Bronze league is best league.
On another note, what’s up with GOM today?
Dunno. Things looked pretty good while I was online today. >:D

Any decent roamers on GoM? If so NSP is waiting their turn. Also Hi HoD I’m waiting as well.

For destroying unorganized zergs: two support guards, two zerker well necros, with lich form, and an aura sharing ele. We don’t run it that often, but when we do we consistently wipe groups 4 – 6 times our size. Proof is in the sig.
All I see is a bunch of SPCA meanies preventing some poor, helpless SF PvErs from getting the grub’s loot chest. My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy. Killing people in a pvp zone is just rude.
The new Bandito thief tutorial video is now up, featuring 1v1s against several IoJ/SF/DR players from the past couple of weeks. No stealth, no thieves guild, no lame stuff… just good fights and gunslingin’ action.
The obligatory TL;DR gif version is attached below.
better be good man…i turned off the can’t hug every cat video for this.
Not only will it literally change your life, you will name your future children after Mexican food in my honor.
YOOO VS
You need to get better at your stack and smack
Because BS just wiped you with half your numbers
:)
What lol? You think you wiped us with half numbers? Kid, you need to learn how to count rofl. You are a bunch of players running with Bunker, healing, small man builds. We had just as many as you. You wiped our pugs, the 3 we had rallying any of you that went down. When we get any of you below half, you haul kitten and heal. Yea, you did wipe us in that like 10v10? and it was about 8 VS there at that. We all run Zerg busting builds, stakitten , hammers etc while you guys run these burst weapons. If you feel proud beating us in a 10v10, then you have so kitten low priorities. Get 25 players and do a GvG, then see how it works out.
As you see in this picture, just from my utilities and weapon, we’re not running any sort of roaming builds. We fight zergs, not a bunch of roamers. It’s WvW, not Spvp.
I took the liberty of updating your build for maximum zerging potential!
All I freaking wanted was to fight Taquito, ASSDF?FGHH. Is that too much to ask? I rarely get to fight different builds, almost everyone is the same. need moar 1v1. Need to skill up for when warriors get nerfed, because it will happen…. Plus I haven’t even eaten lunch today so I’m in a very foul mood.
Well, where were you? I was around for a couple of hours this evening picking on some poor unsuspecting DH players that wandered too far from their herd. Gotta practice that new meta to get ready for leagues, you know!
Just another proof positive, that if you whine enough ANET will nerf it.
.Youtube videos never help in this matter… Like that dumb player sharing a link of him fighting with fireworks in his hand thinking it’s funny,…. enjoy your future nerf pal.
This is no laughing matter, sir.
Even though I use them, I am OUTRAGED that fireworks somehow made it past the balancing team and into live gameplay. Fireworks are single-handedly powerful enough to be its own build regardless of profession and can easily lock down just about any other build in the game, besides another fireworks build, of course. I highly suggest you get your own fireworks and try them out so you can see for yourself how broken they really are.
#NerfFireworks2013 >:/
Yay GoM! I missed you. If DR comes down it’s gonna be a hell of a fight… I’m shakin in my boots at the thought of fighting ADQQSty (No sarcasm intended).
Can’t wait.
I’m pretty stoked about seeing Splt, XOXO, SPCA, and tM again. Adding ADQQSty to the mix is going to be kitten fantastic.
You guys are being waaaay too nice to each other.
Bronze league is supposed to be the place for outcasts and outlaws, exiles and rejects, and players otherwise too stubborn to join the ranks of the 1-spamming masses in seeking silly reward chests. By nature, we’re filled with enough kitten and vinegar necessary to survive on wasteland servers, and I expect nothing short of glorious spite and vitriol in every matchup going forward.
To start, here’s some video of how fan-favorite Henge of Denravi prepares for a tough opponent.
Let the games begin!
It’s common sense. If you break out to a comfortable lead, you should be expecting the double-team. There’s no spoken alliance between GoM and HoD. If HoD is disrupting DH’s holdings and it benefits us to allow them to do so, we’ll simply leave them be. Once the points gap narrows, then all bets are off. But until then, if we’re not targeting DH, then we’d be playing for 2nd place. And that’s just silly.
The fact that it makes some DH players mad is just icing on the cake.
Sup, folks. I haven’t really posted here much, but when I do visit, I always see lots of topics from newer players asking about the viability of P/P builds. Usually those are accompanied by plenty of responses suggesting to steer clear of that weapon-set completely. While it’s certainly not optimal due to its identity crisis between trying to be both a power set AND a condition set at the same time, it’s still plenty capable of holding its own if you work at it and understand your weaknesses. Plus, it’s way more fun to play as a gunslinger than as an assassin. :P
So, now that I’ve got a computer I can run editing software on again, I plan on occasionally posting up some videos of my P/P thief in action. I spend most of my time in WvW, usually in a small group or out roaming, so I’ve built for extreme mobility and a “twitch” style of gameplay (just for kicks, I also avoid using stealth unless I happen to steal it off of an enemy thief).
Here’s the first one: http://youtu.be/2Ag3VwuWPS4
If you dig it, the build is linked in the video description.
Anybody else out there having a blast playing P/P? Please post your videos here. WvW, PvP, PvE, whatever. Let’s give people interested in playing dual pistols something other than the usual “pick a different weapon-set” advice.
HoD and NSP: Just transfer on over to GoM. You know you want to. We’ll send your old servers a big batch of PvErs. They’re really good at dungeons, fractals, and dragons, but really bad at opening karma temples despite keeping us marked as “Very High” population. I do all my karma shopping over at JQ and TC. :/
I will take 12 high fives now taquito ^^
I’m going to need to see some photographic or videographic evidence, good sir. These internet high fives don’t come cheap.
Dedicating tonight’s scoreboard to our AR friends
(edited by TeamBattleAxe.3901)
Anyone choosing P/P is in store for a tough road ahead. With dual pistols, you’ll have to work much harder than other players to achieve the same results, any mistake you make will probably get you killed, and even playing flawlessly against other classes or builds may not be enough to get a win if your opponent is worth his salt.
That said, it is an incredibly fun and rewarding weapon set to use if you’re the type of player who enjoys playing games on hard mode. I’ve got four level 80 characters with multiple gear sets for different builds and NOTHING comes close to how much fun I have playing my gunslinger.

Sorry, this is how I was taught to siege by my Norn father. Is it wrong? I mean, he was drunk at the time… but he’s always drunk.
Also I just saw that there’s a guild on GoM named For Grape Justice. I SALUTE YOU!
There’s a Ferg player with Cat on Fire [BRB] as his guildname. We crack up every time we see him running around.
I haven’t seen too much GoM this time around as I have in the past match-ups. I think they have been spending more time on their Borderlands and EB; however, definitely lots of AR members to go around.
Yeah, for the most part we’ve been pretty much leaving you guys alone. AR is a big target and we enjoy wrecking their house. We just don’t have the numbers to hang on to anything we take, so it’s been a big smash’n’grab all week.
Looking forward to seeing some GoM vs ET on Friday!
I started a new alt so I can learn guardian. This new trait unlock system is complete garbage, especially while leveling in WvW.
Pistol Mastery should add Piercing also.
Just saying…
But ricotched is way better than piercing.
Depends on who you are fighting and who they are hiding behind. Honestly, for as lackluster as Pistol main-hand is, we should have the option for both.
Chance to pierce (%50) + chance to Ricochet.
Sounds fun, but it might be to much RNG dependent then.
How so? Pierce might give you the second chance to hit someone (behind your target) that Ricochet might not have given you.
It also helps in that (with Pierce) now you don’t have to worry so much about your positioning around pets, clones, etc. or accepting a reduced chance to hit your intended target (that is behind them).
Wait, I thought with Ricotched the Projectiles work like the Shortbows aa, which would mean that it would hit the nearest enemy as long as he is in range, no matter
where he stands.Setup…
Mesmer clone/phantasm is directly in front of you.
Fruity Mesmer player is creeping behind clone/phantasm.Situation 1: No Ricochet
You shoot Mesmer clone; Mesmer clone takes damage; Mesmer player is safe.Situation 2: I haz Ricochet! (Pistol shots have a 50% chance to bounce to an additional target.)
You shoot Mesmer clone; Mesmer clone takes damage; 50% chance Mesmer player takes damage from a Ricochet.Situation 3: I haz Ricochet! (and if Pistol Master had 50% chance to Pierce)
You shoot Mesmer clone; Mesmer clone takes damage; 50% chance Mesmer player takes damage from a Ricochet or a Pierce.Maybe the bullet did not Ricochet, but it could Pierce. Or vice versa. Or RNG could hate you and just stop at the Mesmer clone.
That means a 50% chance for either a Ricochet or Pierce off the Mesmer clone, not a 100% chance guaranteed that it will be one of those two.
Or at least that’s how I am imagining it. In a perfect world, I want both. :p
But neither of those have an internal cooldown, so theoretically each shot that pierces would have a chance to ricochet to up to 3 additional targets per target hit by the initial shot AND the pierced shots (don’t forget that piercing can hit up to 5 targets). In turn, these ricochet’d shots would ALSO pierce since they inherit the original attack’s attributes and abilities, and create new chances for even more ricochets and more piercing since each bullet is a new element in the chain (sort of like how each individual meteor in a meteor shower can separately hit up to 5 targets).
Now apply this to something like headshot + perplexity runes. You can already interrupt multiple targets from your ricochet’d headshots. If you added piercing, one person could feasibly cripple an entire zerg simply by spamming headshot.

There’s some neat ideas in there, but many of those seem like they’d be broken as all kitten.
All I’ve ever really wanted was a trait that lets me remove a condition or two per dodge roll. Fleet of Foot is a joke.
Just curious, but MOS has Kaineng at rank 16 after this matchup. That leaves them in silver league as the 8th spot there I believe. 1-8 is Gold, 9-16 is Silver, and 17-24 Bronze, correct?
I know MOS is not official, but thought it was as close as it can get.
Oh, this is going to be so good.
They even deleted my suggestion of selling publicity on keep doors, like a coca-cola door to increase revenu to make it worth it for them to have a team dedicated to WvW only
– goes to show their faith in WvW.
I’d proudly stick a few Natty Light logos on our keep gates. Maybe add a Papa John’s logo on our dolyaks and little pizza boxes on their backs.
We’re very classy over here on GoM.
edit: gif’s dont like me, so i dont like them either
It’s funny watching your revisions in progress.
Seriously, just take the file you’re trying to upload and change the “.gif” to a “.jpg” on the file name. Your computer will probably throw out some big warnings about “blah blah blah file will become unstable if you change the extension,” but click yes anyways because you’re way higher up on the food chain and don’t need to take orders from a stupid machine.
Then edit your post and upload your new “.jpg” file. It’ll still be animated because the forums just don’t know any better.
Just tossing it out there, but why would someone solo roam in WvW when you can just queue up SPVP and get a very similar play style but without all the running? Is there something I’m missing?
That’s a sincerely good question, and one we tend to get quite often.
Here’s my reasons:
1) Much more flexibility in gear selection. With armor slots, accessories, and weapons, we have tons of room to experiment with different stat combinations and fine-tune our builds instead of being restricted to a single amulet for our stats.
2) We’re not confined to a game mode. We don’t have to stand in circles unless we want to, nor do we have to wait as a match resets every few minutes. We can do as we please without wrecking the game for other (allied) players.
3) The chaos and randomness that can occur is what makes things thrilling for me. I could engage in a 1v1, then suddenly get zerged by 30 players right around the corner. Or perhaps I might run around for 5 minutes without seeing anyone, then instantly run into a 1v3 situation and have to play my kitten off just to stay alive. Constantly having to look over my shoulder and never feeling safe is why I consider roaming tons of fun and dueling extremely boring.
That said, the last several patches have been gradually killing the fun of roaming for me. Gear has been introduced with stat combinations that I feel shouldn’t exist because it allows some builds to gain full survivability and damage output without having to make any sacrifices at all. AI skills have also been buffed and auto-pilot builds are becoming much more common, so that takes away some of the fun mind games involved in fighting a skilled opponent out in the wild. And finally, seasons suck for roaming. Almost everyone you run into is running some form of zerg-role build, so there’s very little challenge in taking them down if you catch them running around solo.
Well, for me, I used to go to WvW on GoM and try it….AND could never find many people to play with. Hard to learn that way. So I’d stay for a little while and then log off.
I thought about transferring to another server before the league began, but I really like the GoM community, so I decided to be loyal even if looked like WvW wasn’t going to be a big thing on GoM. Wow—was I and lots of other people ever wrong.
SO…for me, I can now log on and play with lots of people and finally learn WvW. It’s fun and I like it and I hope GoM can keep up the enthusiasm!
Awesome! If you haven’t already done so, ask around in /map chat for info about the GoM website and community-wide Teamspeak server. It’s not just restrictive to WvW players. We’ve got forums and chat channels set up for other things like dungeon raids and guilds.
This thread was so much better when it was just about ARM.
Please, don’t ever leave GoM.
Yeah, EB is a silly, silly place and no one should ever go there.
On a completely unrelated note, thanks to all the folks who came to troll us while I was streaming. Special shoutouts to Moobs for trying to stream-snipe us on a 3-minute delay and to [Yarr] for the awesome GvGs.
If I’m not stuck at work on Thursday night, I’ll do a stream without a delay so that you guys can get some maximum trolling in against us while we’re running around.
(edited by TeamBattleAxe.3901)
All, look at it this way. There is a big gap right now between what the ANET dev team thinks and what people on this forum think. If the league turns out to be as unbalanced as everyone in the forums think, then you have every right to criticize the ideas of the dev team going forward. Until we see the rules though, maybe there is something ANET isn’t telling us with the league set up/scoring.
The damage is already done and the masses have already stampeded to servers with the best chance of winning with minimal effort. This renders the WvW experience in lower tier servers as practically “unplayable” within the context of what the game mode was advertised to be.
Sure, those of us who remain still get our kicks by ignoring the scoreboard and roaming/dueling/gvging/etc instead, but that type of behavior has been actively discouraged through forum posts by devs and patches that further expand the gap between zerging and skilled play.
In case you’re wondering what I want for Valentine’s Day: I like lists, break-downs, and bullet points.
Everyone loves a good breakdown, here’s a band full of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf9vAq0PJEI
I like you.
Five characters leveled all the way to 80 solely in WvW, working on my 6th. If all you do is zerg, then it’s easy and fairly quick. Unfortunately, the latest patch turned the trait system into complete garbage, so your viability outside of a zerg is even more handicapped than it used to be. If you’re the type of player that prefers roaming and small group play, I’d recommend finding your levels elsewhere.
yeh yeh really funny if a t3 goes against t7.
the t7 is gonna rage quit and WvW lose more ppls VERY GOOD IDEA!
(leave the game not just WvW)
Ah but this would be a mistake. A server at a vast rating disadvantage (to use your example, a 10 Seed versus a 20 Seed, it makes little sense to use tiers now that there is match-to-match mobility) can come out ahead in rating even if it scores less than 0.5 of the points against the higher rated server. That is, there is also pressure on the 10 Seeded server to dominate the match; if the 20 Seeded server is able to put up enough of a struggle (gaining valuable experience against a better team, as well) it might be able to move up a spot—19th Seed. This is the motor behind rank mobility with the newer system.
This guy gets it.
Lower seeded servers could still gain rating even while getting blown out. The math would then re-adjust the following week with higher probability of finding accurate matches in the newly-adjusted rating spread.
Essentially, this should fix glicko’s tendency to only absorb rating points from within your own tier and lead to much more volatility in the positions.
In practice, most players quit playing a particular match for the week when it becomes evident they have no hope of winning. Despite the good points of this system, rankings will remain inaccurate as losing servers fail to field players. Fighting your way up is all well and good in concept, but most players have no comprehension of how rankings work right now, and morale will be low when every fight is a roflstomp.
In the long term, this may be a good change. Right now, it’s going to suck for everyone who likes a fair fight.
Unfortunately, math can’t fix morale. That’s up to each server to figure out.
But what the system WILL do is reward the servers that keep fighting in a blow out rather than quit. If the lower server fights their butts off all week, they might jump up a few places. If the higher server tries to coast through the week, they might drop in ranking even while winning by 200k.
I think the end result will be more accurate rankings for all of the servers. And once that stabilizes a bit, the deviation variable should keep things fresh since you have increasingly less chance of facing an opponent that’s either way too strong or weak for you. WvW has never been about fair fights, but at least the lines between tiers have been blurred a good bit.
WvW update: HoD is eating everything, I hope they have room for tea later. Missing out on tea is like committing a sin.
I’m sorry, I thought we were on american servers.
Nothing quite says “America” like T-Rexes eating bacon.
SF has been outnumbered in 90% of every fight I’ve been in.
Screens or it didn’t happen! All kidding aside, I highly doubt that you have been outnumbered 10% of the time. Our 20 -30 man groups just outplay your 20-30-40+man groups.
That’s whats really going on.
I’m SF, which means I have been outnumbered 90% of the time. I used to be a roamer, but hod has such HUGE numbers on all bls and eb I’m zerging up now..
I guess my statement was above your comprehension level.
I will simplify it, Write it in Crayon
1. If you’re roaming you shouldn’t run into 20+ man groups
2. If you’re SF and in a group their is no way in hell that you have been outnumbered at anytime, Well maybe about 10% of the time.
3. SF clearly outnumbers HOD number wise, skill wise that may vary
Any server in Bronze that’s faced us both, will tell you SF has more numbers than HODin WvW.
From the GoM side of the fence, SF AND HoD are walking zergfests. Both of your mamas are so fat that they fell in love and it broke. o_O
I think the proper way to handle things would be to make individual rewards tied solely to participation (achievements) while giving the winning servers some form of in-game prestige. Maybe a statue or plaque in Lion’s Arch (or whatever the hub city is now) that displays a list of season champions, or add those server names to the lore/game dialogue… basically, something that places emphasis on server pride and encourages players to be emotionally invested in their chosen homes as the game evolves.
Right now, it’s just a mad dash of transfers in search of shineys. Or a cash grab, depending on your point of view.
Just a reminder, folks:
We’re doing another GoM pvdoor livestream tonight, featuring [RH] and whoever else ends up jumping into our voice chat. I’m turning off the delay for this broadcast, so feel free to drop by and stream-snipe the hell out of us, ambush us, troll us in chat, etc… In return, we’ll cow-spike you on camera and probably say bad things about your mother._
How about I follow you around with a giant ASH kite?
I don’t know what Anet’s plans are for the scoring system but if SF could win by such a big margin, for such a long time and still need a nudge up to get out, I guess we may all be in this matchup for quite some time, especially when you consider how close the scores are.
I love this idea, it’s a fair match and three fairly even servers. I hope the three of us stay in this matchup all year long.
Just don’t enjoy the match-up TOO much. In our experience, that’s when someone comes along and moves you out of it. We need to keep ANet from realizing we’re having fun here… maybe get a thread or two locked just to throw them off the trail.
