Not a big fan of WP, but this is all I could get for now (instance part starts at around 11min mark in the video):
I like this patch for one main reason – it gives us a confirmation that Scarlet isn’t crazy for the sake of it; something/someone is consuming her mentally. She isn’t at the top of the chain in this chaos after all. I also think Marionette is a way of Scarlet (sub-consciously) showing Tyria what she is – a puppet of destruction. Puppet for who remains to be seen however.

I don’t think they are doing it because it’s hot (although I won’t deny Kasmeer is sold as the very sexual side kick to Marjory, had Marjory been male that would likely have been a major drama, then again, Marjory’s voice actor comes off as sensual/seductive in that noir style) but because one of the writers has a bias towards writing those characters. This particular gender pairing might be underrepresented in general fiction, to see it not only equally represented (when in reality it is far less) and arguable more represented when you consider prominence (it’s like arguing that 50% of a company’s employees are female and thus there is no gender discrimination but conveniently ignoring that only one of their ten board members is female – context matters), that’s a writer’s bias in story choices imo.
I thought Caithe and Faolain were a good way to explore love and the concept of a life partner as it is perceived by the sylvari (Destiny’s Edge are iconic – almost caricatures – of their respective races and are used to define the races). I still don’t know if it traditionally falls into the definition of a lesbian relationship, but it’s certainly the same territory.
Jennah and Logan’s relationship is relevant to explore in Tyria because they are both prominent public figures, their relationship has had demonstrated consequences for Desinty’s Edge and possible consequences as far as the royal line goes. When the story spends time with them, I don’t mind because it’s not some writer’s Mary Sue romance going on or a token attempt to represent a minority in a story, it’s another dimension to Tyrian politics.
Marjory and Kasmeer? I am wary of why this relationship is so prominent in the Living Story. It’s more prominent than Mhenlo and Cynn ever were (that was primarily a side joke, used sparingly for comic effect) but probably less prominent than Gwen and Thackeray (I personally consider their relationship one of the lowest points for GW:Beyond, it was painful and boring to play through and took Gwen from being a great character to being an annoying one).
I don’t think the gender of their coupling matters in this relationship beyond the cynicism that a writer has a bias and will selectively tell this story above others. I do think it matters that this particular relationship doesn’t expand on the story being told. One of the devs commented on the recent live stream, in response to a question about sylvari bias, that they make choices that fit well in the story they are trying to tell. I can buy that as an explanation for why Scarlet and Canach are both sylvari and the primary villains so far (ignoring Mai Trinn) but I don’t believe they follow that rule when it comes to the Living Story cast.
@lordkrall you have a talent for missing the context and reconstructing what was said to conveniently frame the argument as a straw man with a politically correct template to condemn it with. Mortifact identifies as a gay person (a pre-emptive truthful defense to being accused of homophobia I suspect, shouldn’t be necessary to make this point) and frames his/her position as believing that the writers are exploiting this gender pairing for its sex appeal and not because it was a story choice with its own integrity (I don’t believe this is the intention of the writer but I do genuinely believe this was a strong part of its popularity after the “naked Kasmeer” posts started popping up, most people didn’t care about curtains or affectionate dialogue, people loved the naked mesmer and receptive necromancer).
I think their relationship has been given too much prominence in the story so far, but compare it to the “bromance” between Rox and Braham. Their relationship is not romantic but it is given similar prominence as a way of getting to know these characters. I enjoy that as an attempt to add depth to those two characters and can view the romance between Marjory and Kasmeer as a similar attempt (they said the Living Story is supposed to model a TV show, romance is usually a part of that).
@NinjaChris my understanding of how to write a pairing of any orientation is that you write them all the same. They are characters before they are a pairing (something that Marjory and Kasmeer are in danger of becoming).
tl:dr I think they definitely come off as sexualised individuals but I think their pairing is incidental (from that perspective, I don’t think it’s a coincidence they are lesbians). I’m fine with them being in the story but as an individual I dislike romance in general, it’s either relevant to the plot or it shouldn’t be in the story at all, especially in an MMO about slaying dragons.
1) Quaggan
2) Quaggan
3) Quaggan
Who doesn’t want to be a quaggan mesmer, or even a quaggan with a greatsword. <3
4) TENGU!! – King of snowball fight! (I stubbornly believe it so)
5) Dwarves – a bit of sun is good for body, even if it is made of stone.
6) Ogres – beastmasters make awesome rangers
Ummm I don’t see a name above mine so I’ll just put a name down.
Auster Deadeye
A char feared among the order of whispers. It is said one only sees him the second before he looks into the eyes of death. The name of his warband is only said in whispers due to the fear of inciting Deadeye’s attention. The warband is called “The Unaccounted” do to its mysterious origins and it’s unaccounted victims.
I would love to see a finisher that flashes your guild symbol over the enemy. Maybe make them unlockable via a guild upgrade, similar to the guild armorsmith/ weaponsmiths? Or purchased with guild commendations? I want my guild’s symbol to strike fear in the hearts of our enemies!
Please? <3
Dear developers
I have a suggestion for the Scarlet ending. Please make it painful (for her, not us – the Scarlet content has already been painful for us) and permanent! Seriously, she’s the most annoying character ever invented since Jar Jar Banks. I trust the “ending” will truly be an ending, and that we will not see her come back again after 3 months.
Thank you for your consideration. I enjoy the game a lot, especially the large open world with beautiful graphics and the interaction with other players in the free-to-play MMO.
The Beta login screen felt epic and was really nice. The current one is a World of Warcraft clone. And probably every other MMO out there. While we are at it can we bin the account medals on the character selection screen? They server no perpose. They are hings you can find out by logging in. It’s not like anyone else can see them so they are pointless.
This was a crazy marathon to watch with so many servers/guilds competing for this. You guys have built some truly amazing communities through these difficult encounters.
Congratulations Desolation! Well deserved!
I LOVE YOU DESO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WURM DOWN! (and there is the mini)

Didn’t see a thread for this, but figured I would throw this out there. I’ve always found it strange that you can’t read other players’ story logs, especially characters in your party, considering you can play through their personal stories. Whenever I play my friends’ personal stories, I usually have no idea what is going on. Seems like it would be a pretty easy fix since the story logs already exist in-game.
With a game so focused on story, you would think this would be a no-brainer. What do you guys think?
Bump… ANet please give it to us!

So whats everyone’s thoughts on the new teaser picture?
Definitely 3 different elements to the picture.
Top Left one looks like a ship or engine component to me. Not sure about the top right, other than it looks kinda like a reactor. Bottom one looks like the front of a building.
Now that I think about it, is it previewing the 3 fractals we should be getting? AR in top left, Reactor in top right, and MF in bottom picture?
I haven’t gotten to play it cuz I have school but update notes sounds like what I was hoping for ^^ open world tower with multiple levels and events while there’s instanced chambers to enter and a final story heart of the tower dungeon
The respective pages for daily and monthly achievement categories come with a timer, so you know when the month ends.
I feel this timer would be infinitely more useful for the living story achievement categories.
We all know when October ends, but there is a lot of confusion (and research outside of the game required) about when the current living story meta achievement will be removed.

+1 to that! This would be incredibly useful. Please add this to the game!
If you WvW a lot you know what I’m talking about. If not, then let me explain real quick.
Raid grouping is when you have more than 5 people in a group. So instead of your guild being spread out between 4-8 different parties, all those parties can be in one large group. Thus making it easier to follow, locate and communicate. (If you played pretty much any other MMO you know what I mean)
I’m stunned beyond belief that this game didn’t release with raid grouping since WvW is such a large part of the game.
I don’t want anything special. I just want to be able to invite my entire guild and any pugs following our tags into a raid group. If they add this and a raid channel in chat or even utilize the /team channel in wvw for the raid groups then we’ll be all set.
If you agree that this is needed then please leave a /signed or something similar.
Rough Example I made:

Totally agree! I was so disappointed when they released the current one. +1
I don’t mind zerg-farmers, but they should definitely make something so they travel all over the world.
Staying in one spot repeating the same actions over and over should NEVER be more profitable than anything else in the game.
As for your #3, that is definitely NOT a good choice.
Not everyone enters the game with the same schedule. So one guy killing a champion should not mean the guy that just entered will not be able to do so too. The timer should not be on the champion, but on the player.
The solution to that is the same for every single guaranteed reward in the game: Flags.
It works for dungeons, for world bosses, for nodes, for puzzles… people would do the easiest ones over and over if that worked. But it doesn’t. So they don’t. They instead go to other places and do other things… or join the champion trains because they still work.
For champions, account-wide kill flags would mean that after defeating the same one 1-3 times depending on power, they will stop dropping champion bags, and the player will have to go find another one.
This would mean that a zerg in one map would kill their champions 1-3 times, and then they will have to move to another map to get their killing on.
But a new zerg could still appar and farm there.
This would mean that instead one permanent big zerg in two maps in the whole game, there would be a few smaller groups traveling all over the world that form as new people enter a map, and vanish as they leave it.
Since release, I’ve never seen ONCE other people in the Demagogue fight, even though it has a chest. Why? Because they don’t even know it exist, because they never bothered to travel the world and learn the locations of the other champions, because the money was in dungeons, and later in the champion circuits.
And that is why champions need flags like everything else with guaranteed rewards in the game.

In the last weeks it became clear to me that certain groups of players are exploiting the high respawn rate of champions to farm massive amounts of gold and items. That behavior probably has an negative effect on the ingame market. But that’s not even the main reason for my posting this. I am really frustrated by the way some of those players are killing the atmosphere on maps like Queensdale and Frostgorge Sound. Constantly flaming and insulting other players because someone dared to kill THEIR champion without them…
I know Anet is not in the least responsible for the behavior of the players but I think some mechanics in GW2 make farming way too easy!
My suggestions to make zerg-farming less worthwhile:
1. If more players are involved in a fight, the champ should become much stronger, so that you cannot just autohit-kill it in less than a minute!
2. Those champions should be able to hit more than five players with their attacks. Either remove that limit completely or make it dynamically adjust to the number of players.
3. The time until champion/event respawn should be much longer!
I hope other ppl will give their suggestions to this problem as well. Please refrain from flaming and stay objective

+ 1 from me for this!
that’s not even the only thing i want to see, i also want to see a GW1-like character selection screen.
the current one is boring, GW1 always had such good CSS’s, my fav is the factions one.
I’d like to have it back too
The large number of suggestions in different sub-forums is impacting discussion in those different sub-forums. As such, we’ve decided to open up the Suggestions sub-forum.
Please note that you should not expect a personalized, individual response to your suggestions, due to the massive volume of posts that the Suggestions sub-forum will generate.
Please also note that the Suggestions sub-forum will not be open permanently. This is a temporary solution until we roll out a better, more organized way to provide suggestions to the development team than using the forums.
Thank you for your understanding.

yeah bring it back pls!!!!!!!!!!
You’ve got my support! I love that login screen.
I miss the Old Guild Wars 2 Launcher so much. It really brought some original Guild Wars back, I do see people just sitting there staring at it feeling unable to press that last button to log into the game because of its glory. It made it so worth opening the beta client just to listen to it and watch the images be mysterious and change. I understand why we have this new launcher to see news feed then play the game but I’d really love to have the Old Launcher back in the GW2, AND it has plenty of room for a news feed honestly!?!
This is 22 minutes of the Old Launcher, feel free to be lazy and only press the replay button very few times:

(The Switch between the first bit too the second is so amazing…)
I’m the one who made the reddit thread. Thank you for posting on the official forums about it! I’m glad my thread was able to encourage this.
Signed~
Would SO love that old login screen was simply AMAZING. I was SO disappointed when i loaded up the game the first time the new launcher was introduced…
WHY did you do this to us ANet?
this game is about skins so maybe anet will introduce the old login screen in the gem shop for like 5000 gems so you can buy it
The problem with that would be that purchases in the gem store is bound to your account, this screen would be appearing BEFORE you even login
