I’m having fun with them. They are nice little bits of new content to have fun with. Also I think they work well as hints of things to come.

I also like it that they are “secret”. I like discovering things like this whether it be in game or on the net.

I’d also like to request that guild bank slots also gain the ability to auto-stack when adding or removing things from them.

Shared inventory slot auto stack items

I love the Shared inventory slots.

I think what would be great would the ability for newly colllected items to stack inthe shared slot, assuming of course that the item is stackable.

For example if i have some keys in the SIS and i pick up another key, at the moment it goes in a slot in normal inventory. Then I have to manually move the new collected key in the SIS stack.

Would you like to have this function added to the SIS?

You have 24 whole hours to get your dailies done, and you’re complaining about a once a month or so event where you, through your own lack of action, have decided to cram your dailies into a half an hour before reset? Even then downloading the new build is a matter of seconds and restarting the game a matter of a minute. I don’t see how there’s a problem here.

As already mentioned, a large number of people are adults with real life things to do and the timing of the daily reset does not fit well with their adult real life schedules.

The problem is definitely one that exists for some people.

To the OP: The update was a high priority one since PvP was being impacted which is why they dropped the patch as soon as it was ready.

I guess I still don’t understand how, in a 24 hour time period, an update once in a while before reset is an issue. There’s a whole world of players out there. Please explain who these “large numbers of adults” are with their “real life things to do” that have such poor time scheduling that, over the course of one THOUSAND, four HUNDRED and forty minutes in the entire day, they can’t somehow deal with downloading an update and reloading the game which takes maybe 2 minutes tops.

Honestly, if these large numbers of adults are so poorly organized that they can’t schedule their gaming time, the timing of an occasional update is the least of their worries.

I know that is too late but you can change maps (pve ones), chars and even create a new one during these 2 hours, they changed this some builds ago. You can’t go to a guild hall and I don’t know about if you can do pvp during this time.

This update completely uninstalled my game and is forcing me to reinstall, anyone else have this issue?

uninstalled the game? didnt happen to me, but i get this error whenever i try to update my client: Unable to verify the Guild Wars 2 executable. Please try again. If the problem presists, uninstall and reinstall the application, or contact customer support.

not sure if its only me, or many people have the same issue right now

Here this message appears because my antivirus insists to block the game every build since QoL one.

I thought I read you now have 2 hours before you’re forced to update.

Yes you did, you’re correct, that message appeard in-game the moment the build became available .. 1 hr 45 mins message appeared as I’m typing this.

@Lycan Nibbler, the dailies are valid for 24 hours, so leaving it till the last 30 mins is really leaving yourself no room for any sort of delay, isn’kitten.. although this is going to delay it in any case.

For a lot of people in the Americas reset time is right in the middle of prime-time (evening). If you’re at work during the day you don’t have a lot of options for when to play. Especially if you’re at work during the day and then have to get the kids their dinner, walk the dog, get the kids to bed and everything else.

So if you start doing your dailies, get part way finished and then have to download an update you could easily be left without enough time to complete them before the reset and not enough time to play to do all 3 afterwards.

Edit: And if they schedule the update for earlier in the day (which as someone else said would mean holding it until the day after it’s ready) then it will conflict with prime-time in Europe and you hit exactly the same problem with people being unable to play during the only window they have.

Admittedly that’s a bit more flexible because the reset doesn’t hit until midnight (or 1, or 2am) in Europe, so people could stay up to finish dailies, but that’s not ideal when you need to work the next day.

The options are:

  • ANet releases updates as soon as available during their business hours.
  • They postpone updates until their business hours the next day.

Both cases will be bad timing for lots of people, but the second case means living with bugs longer.

Thus, in the end, it’s better for the overall community for ANet to patch the game sooner rather than later. The amount of inconvenience to a few people is dwarfed by the benefits to a larger group.

Plus, it’s not as if the game has a lot of downtime. Heck, it’s more reliable than some people’s ISPs.

Now will my post amount to anything? No after all ArenaNet only reads posts that praise them or if they need to ban someone for calling out the White Knights who think everything is perfect. (Unicorns, Rainbows, and candy corn.) lol

White Knight =/= Anyone that disagrees with you.

There are always people on either side of an issue. Arbitrarily labeling those who you disagree with, and also happen to side with the developer, is wrong and has no revelency to the discussions. It’s the equivalent of the other side labeling those that they disagree with as crybabies who whine just to whine. Both instances of labeling are just as wrong and offer nothing to the discussion other than to create a toxic environment.

I agree with this 100% I have no interest in doing their little side games (I know others like them I just do not) so that means I’m stuck at 110 for my masteries.

Why?

There are 66 Central Tyria points available and 139 Heart of Maguuma points available of which 30 are from Adventures.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks

So even without a single point from Adventures you aren’t stuck at 110.

No some of the others are gated behind events that I haven’t been fortunate enough to be able to get to. I personally don’t want to have to read Wiki to figure out how to play a game I play for enjoyment.

Having to read long instructions or research videos to complete is not my choice of play. You may enjoy it and I say more power to you, I prefer to be able to get the Masteries through map exploration and not in gated areas.

Is that OK with you? That was my opinion, I didn’t need to have you respond to me directly with your smart butt response.

NOTE: I have 23 Level 80 Toons and 16 have map completion can you match that?

Sounds like mindless slogging through core tyria and its netflixable content has rotted your brain a bit.

That response wasn’t smart butt.
It was a simple statement of facts.

If you aren’t enjoying the game and there’s a video or a wiki or a fellow player who can help you enjoy it more then it’s your choice to be miserable.

Personally I found spending five minutes watching someone do that thing I am stuck on saved me hours of trying and failing to figure it out for myself. Seeing it done, and often done well, saves me frustration.

But it’s not how everyone chooses to play.

That may be ok for the people that dont have RL but many times during the week the only time I have is getting home and reset.
30 minutes is ok most time but having to do a reset on the laptop I am currently having to use means at least 5 mins+ of that is taken to sign off, get the new build (that almost always stalls coz of so many people doing it and then logging back in with a crappy slow video card) and then its getting matchups in pvp that will finish in time or wvw ones that can be done.
while it isnt a big thing most times, it seemed much more sensible when they did any update at reset.

You get kicked out at the end of a pvp match so you have to take the new build in the same way you get kicked out of wvw – the 2 hour leeway is only for pve.

If you have 30 minutes before reset to do them, why not do them during the 30 minutes after reset instead?

It looks like this time they were fixing 2 major problems. Problems that you don’t let wait.

1. PvP players not being in the starting area when the match starts. With PvP leagues active, this is a major problem if not stopped ASAP.

2. Installer issues. If players can’t install the game they get upset. If they just bought the game, they may ask for a refund if the problem is not resolved quickly. Players who just spent $50+ on a game do not want to spend ages waiting to begin installing the game. Especially those with slower internet speeds.

Sometimes glitches come up that have to be fixed ASAP, not when it’s most convenient. And I’m sure most people will agree that 30 minutes before reset is not the most convenient time.

Just be glad that we aren’t like some MMO’s that have to take the game down for a couple of hours to patch.

I can enjoy dark souls, why, in spite of difficult and extremely deadly, has a sense of victory, prestige and you can reach a feeling of challenge rewarding every time surpasses anything. I honestly can not find the same feeling in HoT.

Maybe I get this topic deleted or have my account banned just trying to vent all frustration that the HoT jungle game caused me. Probably this topic will be trolled. But I’ll be honest, it’s better this than give up the game. Still I love the GW2 Core, fractals, pvp, dungeons and WVW.

I doubt expressing your frustrations will get this topic closed or your account banned. I see nothing insulting or offensive in your OP. Not to say a thread closure won’t be forthcoming if the backlash from other posters gets hinky.

As to your issues, I’m afraid I’m having a hard time understanding what is causing them. If you can play Dark Souls with some success, if you can sPvP and WvW in GW2 with some success, I have to wonder if it’s your approach to HoT that is causing the problems. I don’t find the HoT content harder than fighting players in either PvP mode, in fact it’s a lot easier. If anything, mys skills are below average.

That’s not to say that I don’t find HoT frustrating. I do. However, my frustrations come from the timers, from the looping nature of maps, featuring a lot of can’t get there from here, and because I don’t want to look up cheat videos to get to exploration objectives. That last results in a lot of having to restart from the very beginning.

I’m glad you won’t be giving up the game. Hang in there. ANet is working on another XPac, and according to NCSoft, has learned its lessons about how to make an XPac that is going to more enjoyable for more players.

It sounds like what you enjoyed about the core game was that it was a really laid back experience that didn’t demand too much of you. That is true, but Anet’s metrics proved that very experience was leading to a lack of player retention.

Citation needed. Good luck with that. Metrics cannot capture why players do things, only that they do them. There are a huge number of possible reasons for lack of retention. If you’re going to extrapolate, then you’d also need to explain why such a large number of accounts with active monthly logins did not adopt HoT.

The increased difficulty in HoT is intentional. It’s sad that you’re not excited to face a challenging map, but the majority of players find that challenge manageable and fun.

Posts like this often indicate a dissatisfaction with the content, but the content is the logical step forward GW2 needed after years of complaints from players about nothing to do, and simply pressing 1 in zerg events.

The change here is that the game has moved forward, and you are not willing to move forward with it. There’s nothing wrong with that. There are still thousands of players willing to play old, easier content with you every day.

We see these things alot but I read these threads, notice the guy having HoT Solo problems is playing necro and I can’t help but think they simply don’t understand how the game or their class works.

How can a person NOT solo with a necro if they are using minions and ANY ranged weapon? I solo champs with my build and they can’t even get through VB. It’s very hard to accept that even as easy as Core GW2 is, it does not train people to even THIS level to know what tools they have to solo in HoT. You almost have to know nothing about your class to know how to fail getting through VB, necro especially.

Problem is, if they do something for one thing, be it Salvager, tools, bank access, or anything, they have to do it for all items in the same situation.

They can’t really justify it otherwise, and off course, instead of doing it for all, it’s just easier to not do it at all then.

I think you guys are horribly overreacting. I read the patch notes myself, and immediately though “From a PVE perspective, this doesn’t mean a darn thing for me”. The tweaks are minor and in the grand scheme mean little to nothing for any of the classes that were changed.

I take it you don’t play Mesmer, right? Persistence of Memory went from a six second reduction in phantasm recharge to three: and that’s under the most optimal settings. I wouldn’t call a 50 percent reduction minor.

Usually, when a game is going down hill, it pulls crap like GW2 does. Over inflates its cash shop with things that, in all honesty, should be a part of the game (primarily glider skins come to mind, there should be craftable ones for each armor profession, order ones from the order vendors, profession ones, SOMETHING, to help lessen the blow of HoTs lack of non-gem customization content).

Celebrate your victory over Sabetha by buying her mini from the gemstore!

Oh, I don’t raid but that is a perfect example of what I mean. THAT should have been a drop. Hell there should be Sabetha armor skin drops too, or at the very least weapon drops… or maybe… just maybe… a glider drop?

I liked the skill splits in Guild Wars 1. Keep the nerfs to the gameplay that needs them, not to all game plays so that PvE skills are ruined by nerfs to a skill used to defend a point against another player. If you’re any good at PvP then you’ll remember the changes anyway. If you’re not good, well that’s the least of your problems in PvP.

Making the game worse and ruining balance because “new players” or “people might not be smart enough to understand how skills work in multiple game modes” is a BS cop out excuse.

Games should NOT be made worse just because you feel the need to design around the dumbest person alive. I’m sick of this garbage mentality showing up in every game. Humans should not be coddled and treated like morons, they should be forced to become more intelligent and aware of things, but instead we just coddle them so much that the race as a whole is going to start getting dumber by the year because we need to cater everything to that one guy who is too stupid to understand that the fresh steaming hot coffee they just bought might burn their mouth if they drink it.

Disgusting.
