You know what… if this event evolves like last year, the nodes may be something that gets slowly added as the story unfolds. That would be interesting
Why are there none in WvW? They were all over last year. You tell people that you want rewards to be comparable – but – hey if you want that nice 20 slot bag – go PVE for a while!
OTG!
Yak’s Bend!
So wait if you have the old recipe for the gift of souls I can still use that? Since it’s still showing the old requirements at this point from what I can see (I do have it).
The only items that changed were the materials needed to combine in the mystic forge to discover the recipes for the Gift of Spiders, Souls and Moon.
The materials needed to craft the gifts from the recipe itself and the items needed to craft the resulting weapons has not changed.
Why such an increase in the materials requirements to make the recipe, though?
Anet’s content just gets more and more disappointing. It’s either too hard or too monotonous or just silly. I just tried the game, Lunatic Inquisition, where you run around aimlessly with no skills not knowing what to do or where to go or what you need to do and how. GW1 was fun when it came to Halloween but GW2 just seems too complicated and just not fun.
I got the titles, the Mad Memories back, etc last year and I had fun. However this yr all I see is grind and buggy content. I have not completed the last two living story AP fests and I may not get this one either. In my opinion the grind is there for all the ppl that have 5+hours/day to play; not for casuals that only play a few hours. So that they stay in the game. I continue to lower my expectations for the content of this game and as the game continues I am sure I won’t care soon.
They ruined Halloween. I didn’t think it was possible but they somehow did it. Can’t wait to see just how bad the Christmas grind will be. Do they seriously not care about what is happening to the game at all? It’s frustrating to watch all the potential Guild Wars 2 has be so utterly squandered.
45g worth of corn cobs for a 20-slot box which would cost you about 10g.
400g worth of nougats for the RECIPE for a 250g staff.
First of all, unless someone was expecting the price of those materials to crash to nothingness, what were they thinking? If they do in fact crash to basically being worth nothing, then what did they expect people to do the events for? Fun running zerging around a bland and empty maze?
Second of all, why isn’t there achievements for the minigame or the clocktower?
….or does the voice coming out of the little droid you can summon after completing the Living Story instance sound like it came from Aperture Science?
I want to see a daily stream of someone at Anet making this Gift. I want to see how they accumulate the 100,000 nougat and the 10,000 candy corn before the end of this event and make this weapon.
I am seriously curious if they even know themselves how much of a grind they have just put into their game. I want to know how many hours they are playing every day just to get the amount of materials they are going to need to make this before the event ends. And no cheating either. Don’t buy it cause you guys have an endless amount of gold, and don’t use the stuff from last year’s event. Treat it like you are a new player who never did the event last year.
Then I want to see them justify it. I want to see them justify that this is fun and enjoyable content. Seriously.

That’s rather disappointing. I was hoping the 20 slot pail would be a one off item reward like Rox’s bag and the gift sack, not something I would never bother trying to buy with a stupid currency. If I wanted a 20 slot bag I could just make one. Or make an 18 slot bag for a tenth of the price.

Did someone say the LS is grindy?
Lies… everyone knows Anet doesn’t make grindy games!
I suppose they don’t make grindy games, but they sure make a lot of grindy add-on content for their non-grindy game.
In GW1 events like this usually brought us 2 costumes for $8 (temp bundle price) that we could freely retrieve copies of at any time from an NPC, item rewards from quests/instances, and a bunch of free for-fun items(booze, tonics, etc). All we have left from that in GW2 are the tonics and food we get for free. All but a select few items are stuck behind ridiculous grind or $60+ worth of RNG with Black Lion chest keys.
I would have already spent my $8 for costumes in GW1. Here, they won’t see a penny from me for this event. I don’t have a problem the mini packs, but I don’t buy them since I can’t use them while they are in the bank (another thing missing from GW1).

Zhaitaffy vendor never left. Hes standing by the Laurel vendor in LA.
Not anymore, as of today
The Merchant who traded items for Zhaitaffy is now named Sonders the Seller, next to the Laurel vendor in Fort Marriner. During Halloween, he will exchange the Halloween crafting items. Once Blood and Madness is over, which runs until November 11th, he will resume trading items for Zhaitaffy.

so it just occurred to me. The candy corn home instance nodes. they are the key to the new recipes. It makes sense now. We are not intended to actually make the recipes over the course of the halloween event. This will simply give us a head start towards gathering all the candy corn
Even if that was the case, and we managed to get 10,000 corns over Halloween, that would mean we need at least 90,000 more (for the recipes), which would mean we need 30000 days (90,000/3perday) or about 82.2 (30,000/365days) years just to get enough for one recipe.
I just don’t get their reasoning for these holiday grindfests anymore. First it was jorbreakers, now these, and most likely something about the same for Wintersday. It was hard enough before to get the stuff needed to make just one of the 3 holiday weapons, now its kittening impossible/impractical to get (at least craft).
Please give us a keyring…

/me dawns tinfoil hat. “It’s a scheme for us to buy more inventory slots.”
Or just eat up the excess supply from last year. Though, I still think it’s a bit extreme. It’s not like we can’t get ~10g 20-slot bags from crafting or “free” ones from fractals.
I know this doesn’t help the supply issue, but even if the bag cost 1k candy corn, but was limited to 1 per account (just to avoid people creating characters to get more if they were 1 per character) at least then everyone who took part would most likely have enough to get a cheap bag by the end of the event.
This should be changed. Anet limiting inventory space does not help sell items in the long run.
I’m not sure what Arenanet was thinking with this one.
It’s 1,000 candy corn to make one Candy Corn Cob. And it takes 15 Candy Corn Cobs to get a 20 slot Halloween Pail.
At those costs, it’s far easier to just farm 10 gold and buy a regular 20 slot box outright.
This screen shot actually shows the Bloody Prince Thorn costume and not an armor skin, so it is not usable in combat.
See, even ANet knows how much time we spend sitting around doing nothing in LA.
Is there other gear as well or just gloves? would be super nice to be able to aquire a full celestial set just for running clock tower
Just the gloves as far as I know mate!
We got boots last year. So it seems 1 piece per year. Though last year you couldn’t choose the stats.
Last year we got 1 pair of boots per character you ran through. You can’t get a second pair of gloves on a second character. So the rewards are account bound it seems this year instead of character bound.
http://www.youtube.com/user/AeowynsGW2
Atleast last year if you got good enough at it, you could farm halloween bags from Clocktower decently. Now you just get the useless gloves and a couple tonics, really?
Why did you make this worse? Atleast put the bags back. People asked for the rewards to be upgraded not downgraded.

Shame on them for giving you a free exotic with whatever stats you want. Oh the shame!
We are sworn together by our blood…
Yeah, your point being? They said he would remain. He was still selling his stuff, pretty much next to where the candy corn guy is now (hence why I guess he may have been moved or accidentally removed).
I don’t often say this, but if he was purposefully removed, I will not be happy. I have 1000+ zhaitaffy left that I was keeping to buy food, counting on the fact that he would remain there. If they had announced that he would be removed (as has pretty much always been done in the past with this type of stuff), I would have traded it in…
I made one ascended weapon- but really can’t be bothered spending the time and resources and standing at the crafting person again to make any more. It’s just not fun for me.
The other thing that put me off is the time gating, and then the realisation that I could spend the next six months purely farming mats to make just weapons for all my alts – and that’s before armor even comes out, at which point I’d be stuffed completely.
Then of course they effectively removed one dragon from the game for most of us, removing a good source of dragonite and drops.
They shouldn’t have bothered with character slots at all- just pick one character at the start of the game and that’s your lot, as the chances of you gearing up more than one are now remote.
Ascended weapons (and soon armor no doubt, to add to ascended trinkets etc) being non-tradeable is a huge turn off for making viable alts, especially for wvw (where they char bound ranks as well, the most alt-unfriendly idea ever).
It’s a very different game now than when they first brought it out with much promises.
Can’t wait for the new content when they decide that it can only be completed in ascended gears as they design it around that, and anyone who plays more than one tanky class can wave goodbye to keeping up or even getting into that content.
It’s all heading in the wrong direction, fast.
Yeah, this is annoying, but it is probably done so people get not stuck inside the generator. Looks like a workaround for some bug they encountered that could not be fixed easily or in time.
Those annoying generators that keep relocating our position, just stop it. it’s really annoying and disorienting especially as an active combat action-like game.
Those pedestals that go up and down on boss room, people get stuck there a lot because of forced positioning again.
The electric floor in boss room, cannot dodge or use endure pain.
Foreman spur, cannot use endure pain on whirlwind attack, also cannot interrupt just before he throws it even without defiant stacks. The damage doesn’t even show on the combat log which leads me to assume you purposely had programmed it differently to achieve certain effects. Don’t ignore your basic combat mechanics and make things a lot more unintuitive.

Sounds good, but it needs some failsafe way to work. Or else I’ll just buy a new account, run 2 instances of gw2 and make new alts every time for the extra rewards.
Working as intended. Anet just doubled sales.
in “MMOs”, yeah sure i agree with you, but you are forgetting the “RPG”, hence being called “MMORPGs”
Role playing games will always have leveling, it’s the part of “getting stronger” and the adventure etc.
MMORPG are a type of MMO.
Also RPG doesnt mean Levels.
the first MMOs didnt even have Levels and did just fine.
The excuse that its a tutorial is just that, an excuse.
Because people learn at different paces. Practice makes perfect. Not this. If somebody already know how to play the game, why would they need to level 1-80 to relearn it again? Doesnt make sense. Its always been used as a time sink in MMOs to gate content. But if that game doesnt have a sub, whats the point of time sinks like this.
Fun alone should be the time sink.
When content is blocked by levels, it become a requirement to level to access that feature. this in itself force (or forcibly encourage, which is not good) players to reach high levels quicker to unlock all the features they enjoy.
Levels do more harm in content speed consumption than it solves.
