The 1st birthday gifts were very underwhelming. I ended up with 9 Queen Jennahs etc. What were they thinking? After the good feedback from GW1 where you got a chance of many different minis, why did they change this?

I hope they will alter the rewards this time around.

When a person comes to a “all zerk, be experienced” or “want X class for X content” party and the person who clearly don’t fit the bill and didn’t bother reading the lfg and joins gets kicked, why is it that the elitest players gets the hate?..

If people want to do things casually they can, just open up lfg and put your descriptions something like “no trash skips, play casually” or “all cleric gear party” there. I really doubt there would be zerker elitest players joining that party, and if they do, you can do same thing and kick them!.. win win situation

So when I first began Guild Wars 2 I searched everywhere to give my first character a samurai themed look. It has taken me a very long time to get it together and I’m actually proud of how it turned out.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who has struggled to get samurai armor so feel free to copy off of this if you really like the look. My only request however is that if you are a part of the Tarnished Coast server please use a different color scheme then mine (this works well with most other dark dyes, I’ve tried it).

Armor (Heavy)
Draconic Helm
Priory Shoulder Pieces
Splint Chest Piece
Pit Fighter Gloves
Banded Leggings
Splint Boots

Dyes
Oxblood
Ruby

  • So recently I had to change one of my characters names due to it being inappropriate or whatever – this is not a good opening line for your argument. If you had an inappropriate name, it kind of sets a negative connotation for the rest of the post
  • and after I got through trying about 50 different names, I realized that every single good name is taken. – so you were unable to come up with an original name in 50 tries? To validate, I created 4 new characters last night for Key runs, all 4 different names went through the first time
  • And to make things worse I know most of them are taken by people who have since quit the game. – This would be impossible to know
  • I think there should be a wipe of all names after 365 days of inactivity from the game. Simply give them the same name change prompt I got upon log-in once and if they decide to ever log-in again. – As ANet has said numerous times in the past, they consider it perfectly fine to put the game down for a while and come back whenever you choose, so this forced name change when someone comes back after a year would go against their own policy
  • Character names are a huge contributing factor to keeping active players around, it is great for bringing their own personality and style into the game. It is literally their identity. – can’t argue with this one, I agree wholeheartedly
  • Give the active players the ability to get the names they want, it is only fair. Why should inactive players get all the pretty names? – it is pretty much a first come first served basis. In the first hour of the Head Start, two names that I wanted were unavailable. Somebody just beat me to them. I had alternative names already prepared and picked one of those. Both of the alternative names went through fine, I just had to be a bit more creative
  • How do you guys feel? Same boat as me or not. Is 365 days too punishing, or not long enough? – So in summary I must respectfully disagree with your proposal

Or rather you could have originally come up with a name the first time rather than trying to be funny/edgy. “All the good names are taken.”. Be more original instead of wanting a generic name.

So no I don’t agree that names be cleared after any amount of inactivity except maybe for accounts that have been permanently banned.

I post from a phone so please excuse any references to ducks or any other auto corrections.

Many people take a break from this game for 3, 6, 12 months or whatever timeframe suits them so to come back and have your name removed seems a little unfair.
I was away from a different game to this for 9 months and when i logged back in my names were removed for inactivity. I logged out and deleted the game and never went back.

I hate to say this, as I’ve been a loyal gw2 player since beta and have generously bought gems for the past two years, but this looks like a blatant money grab. I feel like players are seriously being milked here. This item should be made a permanent black lion chest drop at least.

Nessie isn’t “very rare”, Nessie is a myth, at best.

Almost like Permanent Hairstyle Contracts.

If there are any pictures of permanent hairstyle kits, well they were probably photoshopped.

If only the item’s availability equaled what it had the first wintersday. All the new rates succeed in is making the item even more exclusive. If you’re gonna add the item back in, at least do so, permanently.

Dear anet,

Increase the droprate or make it a permanent drop. Thanks.

Sincerely, the entire gw2 community.

Ask yourself this, why is the item available to be traded on the trading post to begin with? You can’t sell Self Style Hair kits or Total Makeover Kits… why the Permanent Hairstyle contract?

Simple.

Create an in demand item people want.

Create scarcity for no other reason than to increase value. All the item does it let you repeatedly change your hairstyle for free. Most other players wouldn’t even know you owned it.

Item now exists with a well known value of 3000+ gold on the trading post.

After not being available for months, it finally pops back up… 2 WEEKS ONLY, buy your keys now while you still can!!!

Make bank from everyone buying keys in a futile attempt to try and win the permanent hair tonic.

Always amuses me when I see people defend ArenaNet for only wanting to make money, because they’re a business and that’s what a business is expected to do in order to survive. Funny thing is, people, that its not the only thing they’re expected to do.

As a business owner I can tell you that if it were all just about me counting the $ as it gets thrown at me, well then just about EVERYONE would be a business owner. So why is it that everyone isn’t? Product and/or services must be kept in good standing AND you must have great customer relations.

So please forgive me if I do point out when they make a cheap money grab and call them out on it, as they are severely lacking in their required business obligations. If they continue to stay afloat despite it all, so be it, either way I’m not going to remain quiet.

That said, as you say businesses exist to make money, so they will obviously try to make money. Essentially its up the customers and the competition to say how far they can or should go. If people are buying, then from many standpoints they are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

Indeed. And it’s a bit disappointing that the gaming community has so readily bought into ‘pay per use’ micro transactions and RNG nonsense.

Permanent contracts for this and most of the other basic services should have been made available in the gem store, perhaps even as cash only purchases. This is the only sort of content I would further support this game with real money for, and be perfectly happy to do so.

For only two weeks… it’s a start, but it’s still not good enough tbh.

Why not do the same with the other permanent contracts that are always (albeit a small chance) available through black lion chests? Why do they insist on making the perm hair style so much rarer than the others? I mean, really? Only two weeks?

I just find it extremely odd…

A good start, but odd…

I think this is purely an opportunity for another cash grab rather than doing it as a kind gesture for the GW2 community. It’s like… “Hey guys, we’re putting the perm hair style contract back in black lion chests FOR ONLY TWO WEEKS so make sure to buy up hundreds of keys, and even then, you probably won’t get one, but good luck and remember to give us all your money”.

Seriously… Make the permanent hair stylist contract a PERMANENT feature of the black lion chest, just like you have with all the other perm contracts available through black lion chests. It’s not hard.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great it’s coming back… but the two weeks thing is just plain nuts.

Forever a supporter of more male skimpy armor

100 keys - No very rare drops

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: BeeSuit.5649

BeeSuit.5649

Before investing 150 bucks on BLC keys, I ran a quick search on google (and read a few posts in this forum) and the general consensus is no, it’s not worth it (at all). I just thought that it’d be fair to give other GW2 players an idea of what they’re getting into when they buy BLC keys (Or any items that gives you random items), based on my personal experience.
As of yesterday and for the next 2 weeks, the BLC has an incredible slim chance of rewarding the player with the “permanent hair stylist contract”, which players were willing to pay up to 2800 gold (as of 07/29/2014 9pm NYT, I just connected to the game now, 07/31/2014 1:30 am NYT and they’re going for a little over 3600 gold…). I knew how slim the chances were and when I invested 12300 gems on it, I was aware of the risks (Let’s be real, if the item was easy to get, it wouldn’t be worth 3600 gold, possibly even more). The problem is not the fact that I didn’t get the item, the problem is that 12300 gems later I was stuck with a bunch of crap that wasn’t even worth 30 gold (and I’m being optimistic).
I was stuck with a bunch of useless dyes, useless repeated minis, useless boosters, and some useless services (e.g.: Revive Orbs, Trading Post Express,…)
Not to be totally unfair, I got some stuff I consider somewhat useful:
- 15 tomes and 24 scrolls of knowledge. It’s an OK reward, considering I could get an equivalent amount of skills and levels playing EOTM (which is a lot more rewarding because in the end I made some gold, gathered some mats, made tons of badges of honor that can be used to buy some good items, and most importantly, had lots of fun)
- 3 Total Makeover Kits , 2 Self-Style Hair Kits, 26 Transmutation Charges, 4 Black Lion Salvage Kits, and 2 Backpack skins I didn’t have. I consider these the best rewards… And still, I would only buy some, not all, of these items if they were sold at a discounted price (350 gems for Total Makeover Kit = 35 gold; currently you can buy approximately 10 gold per 100 gems if you do it when the time’s right)
Now, I spent those gems trying my luck to get an item that I could hopefully sell for 2800 gold… and what does that mean to me? I invest 40 bucks a month on gems, equivalent to 4 months worth of gems. If I had changed my gems to gold, I could have Dusk right now (which’s basically the only item I’m missing to finally get my legendary). That’s 153.75 dollars… I could buy 3 new games or have paid for 10 months (or more) worth of subscription to another MMO. Hell, if I played WoW I could get 2 toons to level 90 by paying 120 bucks to Blizzard.
GW2 is by far the best MMO I’ve ever played and I still believe it was worth paying 40 bucks/month. The way I saw it, I was investing on development for new content, for continued support. I usually stayed away from random dyes and BLCs because I always thought they were a rip off and I was not wrong. The best dye out there, is worth less than 200 gold, which currently translates to 2000 gems… Trust me, you’ll have to invest a lot more than 2000 gems to get a decent dye (and I never paid more than 80 gold for a dye). Gems to me were used only to buy useful items: Bank slot and tab expansions, permanent gathering tools, passes (royal terrace, home portal), skins, even gold if I needed more mats to get ascended stuff…
I’m not mad or sad but I feel cheated and disappointed. I’m just letting someone else out there know that it’s not worth spending your money on BLC keys. Maybe a-net will read this and realize that this is not the right way to make money. The moment clients feel cheated is when they go away and a-net should be concerned about it. It’s not the amount of money or the fact I didn’t get the one item I wanted. It’s the fact that should I not feel amazing because I didn’t get that one rare item, I should feel like whatever I got, was worth what I paid for.
To me it was just a wakeup call that it’s time to go spend my money on some other game.

Well, to be make it simpler, they could do one of a few things, bar the Merchant:

If you use the TP Contract, you can withdraw from the TP anywhere, anytime. No NPC spawned (it clutters the “mercenary” usability space and tricks players).

Bank tab is added to all hero panels under crafting. This can be used to VIEW your bank. Everything is grayed out and immovable unless a bank contract, crafting station, or banker is near you. (Same goes for Collectibles.)

Possible to access makeover kit as part of wardrobe section. Hair changes may be completed for free with contract on any character. Could also use this to convert makeover and full makeover to transmutation charges, but that might make you lose some money. Previewing facial/body changes along with armor would definitely be appreciated, though. Problem with this could be changing gender in preview.

Merchant contract will add a “sell junk” button to your inventory gear in addition to having a button next to it that will open up the Merchant window to buy or sell. Right clicking items will show “Sell to merchant” if sellable. Items above green rarity will show a confirmation, enticing players to open up merchant window.

Mystic Forge Conduit or Node… should still just be usable as they are.

hello

now with teleport to homeinstance we even need this more – i will not buy this item for all my 31 characters but i would do it when i could have it on all of them

so my suggestion is “ONE” of this points: (you can choose)

1. Give all my characters a copy per permaitem after i use and bound it(same as golembanker)
2. add USED perma items to the menu on top left
3. Bring an ACCOUNTBAG (with right click on the bag on top left on screen) with 10 slots where i can put in items i wanna use on all chars (even minis)
4. Make accountwide items like you did with the pvp finishers

*permaitems i talk about is: perma merchant, perma bank, perma mysticforge, perma hairstyleguy, perma axe/pick/sickle,perm lionsarch/airship teleportthingie, homeinstanceteleport ……. and all the other things i dont remember

thx for your time

is a weakened character. You cannot critically hit those bosses. Two stats wasted.

As opposed to condition spec characters… who literally do <100 dps. It is literally better for the condition player to NOT be there as to not scale up the event because they scale it more than the damage they do.

The game really needs some consumables that need those as primary part, not like toxic oils whitch need 2 rare components and some bloodstone. It would make these mats important again. I just find silly we have “super rare” mats that dont have any value at all.

Why in the world are you wasting all that karma to refine?

The most you should have really is a stack. I saved up only 50 and have started to throw out any excess materials I get.

Anet is very unlikely to design a system that would require so many materials.
