Hello there,
So I am a formerly-PvP-exclusive player who likes to explore, quest, slay monsters (and of course PvP) in style. And I would like to explain this idea I’m confident both NCSoft-ANet and us players would like.

What does Unlimited Cosmetics do?
Simple. For 30 days, any purchaser of Unlimited Cosmetics get to customize their characters’ looks with infinite access to the Gem-based services, namely:

1. Total Makeover Kit (originally 350 Gems)
2. Self-Style Hair Kit (250 Gems)
3. Transmutation Charges (600 Gems per 25 charges)

Why Unlimited Cosmetics?
Coming from PvP, I think I have experienced the best and worst of Guild Wars 2. We PvPers have enjoyed 1.5 years of free trait resets/0 repair costs/full customization of looks long before any PvEer does. It felt great.
Then Living World came and PvPers were practically ignored by updates most of the times. A conclusion I drew was that we PvPers hardly have to pay for anything we play. Once upon a time, we were really able to enjoy the full game of PvP (however unbalanced it might be) without using any Gem Store. Yet, with a little contribution to the machine, one can enjoy it even further.

Let’s just say the one thing I enjoyed the most in PvP was something that involved these unlimited access and customization of how I want to play my game, at a real money cost: Custom Arena. And you know what, I really loved it. That was the best purchase I’ve ever made from ArenaNet.

When I return to PvE after the April patch I discovered that this side of game is severely lacking everywhere unless you use the Gem Store from time to time. What’s worse, this Gem Store is dominated by rented stuffs. 1-time use and limited days of access to just about everything cool.
For example, when I am leveling up (most of my characters are somewhere near level 2), I need frequent transmutes, since I am constantly swapping out old gear for new ones every 5 levels my character needs to buy this whole set of 10 items (6 armors and 4 weapons) and then transmute them all to keep the look s/he has.
It costs 10 transmutation charges and really, feels like I am “renting” the look of my character as it is going to go away and needs re-purchase 5 levels later.
The more I level up, the more money I have to spend.
The more time I invest, the more money I lose.
It feels worse than renting. At least you get more from the stuffs you rent by using them more often.
Allow me to say that this company and its Korean overlords definitely want to make huge bucks off transmutation and many other services on the Gem Store.
It’s okay. We want a good game. A good game should come from a good company. A good company should make lots of money. But I don’t think THIS company is especially good at it.
Like I said, the PvE side is plagued by 1-time use services, limited days of access and non-revertible products. This kind if designs tend to drive customers away because they are 1-night-stands. Was the eye color off in that Total Makeover Kit? Too bad it is used up. BUY ANOTHER ONE. Need to check your bank very quickly from inside the dungeon? kitten the robot just expired an hour ago. PAY FOR A NEW ONE!

In PvP this would not be the case. Or it used to not be. If I make a mistake wearing the PvP armor I do not like, I just go ahead, salvage it, and attempt to build a new one. Eventually it will be correct.

Despite its amazing gameplay and beautiful art style, the game’s economy world gives you heart attacks like this one and often feels much worse than a rented game/MMO with subs.

So I offer this product idea of 30-day Unlimited Cosmetics, pricing at 1,600 Gems. If I have to rent, so be it. Because I will take an honest rent over losing money for my time investment in this game.

By applying this product, ArenaNet and NCSoft can make all the more money, while players like me get to play the way we like, and craft our characters at anytime, anywhere, with any mood, without needing to worry about paying extra money.

If you want to avoid the “math geeks”, disallow rerolling and open the points.

But you give the numbers 48 hours before start, so there will be math geeks no matter what. We all have good estimates of the difficulty and time of fractals at scale 50. It’s not because you run those daily that those who don’t are completely clueless.

[KING] Immortal Kingdom – Fractal Tournament

The tournament will be held the 26th of July 2014 Starting at 14:00 UTC – Server Time

It will consist of 3 rounds of 90 minutes during which competing teams will have to complete as many level 50 fractals as possible. With a total prize amount of 4000g, it’s a healthy change of pace from typical fractals rewards!

The event will be streamed on twitch so each team must have one streamer.

Each fractal will be worth a specific amount of points based on its length based on [KING] Immortal Kingdom’s extensive experience in fractals. Incremental values based on the tier at which you get a fractal will be applied to reward progression, though you’re free to roll swamp over and over if you think you can still win.

The Final Point spreadsheet for every fractal will be published 48 Hours before the tournament, and each registered team will be notified ingame.

There are only Four Rules:

You can’t switch character. (You are allowed to relog the same character for repairs)

All pathways that are designed to block progress through the path must be opened. You may not have any party member(s) get past blocked passages until the required sequence/dialogue has been completed.

You will be disqualified if it is evident that your party has deliberately abused positioning to disable a boss. This means safe spotting a boss, line of sighting to cause a boss to break, etc.

You can’t use gem store consumables and tomes of knowledge – other consumables are welcome.

As far as other aspects of fractals, anything goes, so have fun strategizing.

The first round is open to every team who wants to participate. Afterwards all teams report their scores and close their streams. We’ll download the archived broadcasts to confirm the top 4 scores are accurate, then move on to the second round. Teams that will have ranked 5 to 8 will be rewarded but will not progress to the Semifinals.

The second round, or Semifinals, will consist of the top 4 from the free-for-all, the top two teams in terms of point will proceed to the Finals, where they will face each other in one last round of ultimate destiny to decide the victor!

3rd place – 500g
4th place – 250g
5th place – 125g
6th place – 75g
7th place – 50g
8th place – 1 Broken Claw

I know I’m not alone when I make a request to possibly see Bunny ears and other animals ears alike into the gem store. I know I missed the chance to pick up those cute Bunny ears that I hope one day return to the gem store but I also think it would be fantastic if the gem store almost came out with ears like Cat ears, Wolf ears, Fox ears and other unique animal ears a like. Along with tail pairings for said ears or players can even mix and match them to their liking. Just a suggestion I hope we will see some day.

There was a very loud out cry the karma was too abundant and completely useless, months and months ago. (Well before the April patch) As such, karma got nerfed. Thank those people.

Engi/Ele have only 1 weapon slot with no option to weapon switch. All other classes have the option to weapon swap.

This gives Ele/Engi the option to use: Two, 1 Handed weapons or One, 2 Handed Weapon.
This gives others the option to use: Four, 1 Handed weapons or Two, 2 Handed Weapons.
Which Means: Ele/Engi = 2 Sigil Slots. Others = 4 Sigil Slots.

How does this disadvantage Ele/Engi? Passive Sigils. Stacking Sigils.
Lets take a Warrior. Lets say they run GS and sword/warhorn. The GS can have 2 offensive sigils such as Force and Fire, to provide maximum DPS, while the s/wh, used as utility and not DPS can carry the passive Bloodlust Sigil. This means their GS does full DPS, while not having to sacrifice the Fire damage for Bloodlust. Bloodlust isnt bad on their warhorn since they arent looking to do damage with it.

Lets take ele: Since we only have 2 spots. If we use bloodlust, that means we must sacrifice the useage of Force and/or Fire to accommodate Bloodlust. This means we dont have the DPS Potential of other classes due to the restriction.

Yes I know engi have kits, ele have attunment. Its not the point, re-read post. You cant socket sigils in utility slots.

they do, at a very very low chance, got a Chaos guns from a Gilded Coffer doing Arah P2.

Eternity is not worth crafting the normal way. Sunrise and Twilight will cost you ~2.5k gold in mats for each, so that’s about 5k gold, not including karma and other stuff. Eternity currently has a sell listing of 4400 gold, which is less than the cost of making it yourself. You might even be able to get it for less if you wait with a buy order.

Ofc this only works if you’re ok with buying it off the TP. I personally like that final forging moment in creating the legendary, but I’d really consider doing it through the TP in the case of Eternity.

Does anybody else have a bank full of ascended rings from fractals? What should I do with them??

I need something to do with all of them. I know they sell for 5 silver but that seems a little silly. I would suggest they make it so they can be salvaged or at least give out other ascended items besides rings.

Because that’s the item you exchanged your ticket for. It’s like asking why my dungeon armor from the dungonarmor trader is exotic and soulbound.

There needs to be some vendor you can turn Gauntlet Tickets in for something. Anything. I have near 2000 of them at the moment. Even if I were running the easiest boss with five gambits going that would be 400 rounds to convert them into chances, and I don’t even enjoy the ones I’ve done so far. There needs to be a way to just straight up turn them into something useful, even at a horrible exchange rate.

The current “through gauntlet” exchange rate is 1:1 with Tokens, with a rare chance at some other stuff. I would take maybe a 10 tickets to 1 token exchange even, just to be done with them, and I don’t even particularly like tokens either!

That would be quite an unfair trade, making them subtract their taxes from the sell price while you don’t.

At this rate, Dusk will be completely worthless after another week of free fall – and at the end of the month, people will be too poor to pay others to take this item off their hands when the price goes negative.

I can draw a line between two points, it must be true.

The solution is obvious – Anet has to remove all Twilights from the game. The people who have them taken away will have to buy another Dusk to remake it, which will get rid of the oversupply on the TP. And because all the unbound Dusks in the game are automatically placed on the TP via sell orders, you can be sure that once they are gone there will be no more Dusks out there making them valuable once again.

It’s the only fair thing to do, taking away everyone’s Twilights will make them happy because they can buy another Dusk.

It was due to an exploit letting people list stuff on the TP without paying the listing fee.
And nobody was banned for that afaik.
Few (really few) were burnt selling few precursors for 2 silvers when the exploit was stealth fixed.

You are complaining about two of the most expensive components of a Legendary.

I can just see it now, a dev coming to the forum saying “We’ve got some exciting plans. I can’t say too much, but let’s just say that if you’re fans of the Tengu you’ll be very pleased!” And then sure enough next Tuesday there it is. Three new Tengu minis in the gemstore.

Have you lost your mind? Don’t give them ideas like that, we need more meaningful fun content not more RL money grubbing, before you know it GW2 will become CSW.

I’m a bit surprised how quickly this thing escalated. People don’t want to organize groups for the blitz anymore, instead they all stand in the middle of the map on each overflow and spam “join” button to one or two overflows where people are doing it right. I tried myself to organize some runs yesterday but all I get are replies like “waste of time” or “just join taxi”.

Those who wish to do ogranized runs for gold reward are forced to either waste 30 min spamming “join” button to another overflow or do it with the guild (if the guild has at least 20-30 active people willing to do the blitz as well). I’m afraid this situation will only get worse and worse in the upcoming weeks. I like this event for it’s mechanics and decent rewards, but sadly I can’t fully experience it because of other’s people lack of motivation or simple laziness.

My only gripe about last year’s gift was that the only mini was Jenna. One of her was cool, 10 of her…. not so much.

I absolutely love the birthday boosters. (I’ll take these again anet, pretty please). They helped me level both the character and my wvw rank. Handy indeed.

I had no issue with the experience scrolls either. I’ve used every one that I’ve gotten. Admittedly, I don’t think I need any more of them now though…

So, my thoughts on this year’s gifts:

-Create a set of 12 or 15 minis, like was done in GW1. Let us get one of that set randomly from the gift. Do make these tradeable.

-Include the birthday booster again. Even if people don’t have characters that need the experience anymore, the 100% bonus to karma, magic find, gold, and wvw rank is still very enjoyable. Not to mention, it stacks with other boosters.

-Not sure what to ask for as the third component. Lot of things I would like, but probably not advisable. Maybe a scroll that grants 5 levels to any non 80 character? A small bag of dungeon tokens? A random weapon ticket? An ascended weapon box maybe? Not asking for a precursor or anything here, but something useful would be appreciated.

It doesn’t have to be good… it just has to be UNIQUE to the birthday gift, and it just has to be useful or have some variance in drops like GW1 minis.

Giving “auto level 20 scrolls” to people after 12 months is just…. stupid, completely stupid, utterly stupid, and ridiculously stupid.

The scrolls drop from Achievement Chests as well.

I have 9 of those scrolls that I’m never going to use, and I have 9 characters at 80….

As long as they don’t give out a stupid and useless item like that again, I’ll be happy.
