Apart from low fps and invisible characters everywhere, this is probably the best fight I’ve ever had in GW2 (first being Liadri).
So here’s a thanks. And please, don’t listen to people who want to trivialize everything.
As a sylvari main I would respond saying i’d love to harvest vials of powerful blood, vicious fangs, and ancient bones from you stinking meat bags.
I play a commander, but I realize that means more than just being a bright blue icon. I try to give advise to people during-, and especially before, the battle. I try to keep morale up, even if we’re all stuck in an overflow and people are yelling “It’s an overflow, we’ll never succeed! Flee for your lives!”. I’m also usually the person doing a ton of reviving. I want players around me to feel that being near me keeps them up and alive, so I make sure that that is the case. I also communicate with the players on the turrets, letting them know when we need poison cleansing and such. I have no idea if I am a good commander by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m willing to put the extra effort in to try and get people slightly organized and motivated. So, not all commanders are terrible. It’s usually only one extremely loud bad egg on every server.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to remove commander tag however I agree that the current state of getting commander tag is too easy. 100g? pfff. Make the people earn at least pvp rank 20, wvw rank 50 and level 80. Also make them require to either get every boss achievement or have done at least 5 different world events (succesfully).
Then you’d have your elite. This is non-sense. Commander tags don’t say anything about a commander.
I myself am commander and compared to other commanders I have actually been thanked by people for leading those people the loot-lusted-commanders aren’t leading.

The tools to command? A hundred gold.
The ability to command? Now that’s priceless.
A lot of commanders simply aren’t fit for the job. As a commander it’s your responsibility to not only lead but also to keep the morale up. You’re dealing with actual human beings here and they aren’t going to listen to you if you keep dishing out abuse. I’ve noticed that the successful commanders are the ones willing to go that extra mile and not only be knowledgeable but also capable of sharing that knowledge in a constructive way.
The most unpleasant thing about this event has been the arrogance and abuse of commanders.
Not all of them are bad. We have some awesome commanders. But the way some of them carry on, you picture them red in the face with spittle flying out of their screaming mouths.
World bosses have NEVER been this hard. Does that mean we hate the change? No. I welcome a challenge. It’s been fun trying to work out the mechanics of the event and I believe in teamplay. What many are failing to realize when they are spamming
“OMG WHY ARE YOU ALL DEAD? kittenING HELL kitten kittenITY”
“HOW CAN WE WIN THE EVENT WHEN YOU N00BS DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FIGHTING”
“kitten YOU ALL SUCK”
“STOP REZZING THEM, THEY ARE BRINGING US DOWN”
(on that last note, we actually had someone abusing all players at the END of the fight who had been downed, blaming them all for the loss, even though the majority had gone down in the final 3 minutes with Teq at about 95% health, after half the assault had already given up and left the area).
is that, until a few days ago, it was perfectly okay in almost every world boss event to run in and start hacking away as if its nobody’s business. These people are yet to realize that this is no longer possible, but you can’t really blame them for not hanging on to every single word that’s written in chat and failing to follow instructions because they have never needed to until now. Yes, we need a coordinated effort. No, not everyone is going to realize that immediately, especially when the people who are supposedly meant to be leading the assault are spending more time getting their raegface on.
When I pointed this out, the replies I got were along the lines of
“GOD, THEY MAKE SOMETHING HARD AND YOU ALL kitten ABOUT IT. LEARN TO PLAY N00B.”
People would be more likely to pay attention if these so-called “elites” actually resembled leaders.
People will learn. Whether or not they listen to you depends on whether you present yourself as someone worth listening to.
Chill out.
/endrant
Players with commanders tags tend to feel empowered by them. Having one myself I do not feel a need to sport it unless i ma commanding and that is how the majority of commanders are. We had enough cash to toss 100g at a tag it doesn’t mean we are the best leaders out there. If one gets belligerent then remind them of that. Most commanders are just players trying to do the right thing. That is being a big blue spot for people to gather on. Trolling those few commanders additionally trolled the rest of your server and imho that isn’t really worth it.

Honestly, I bet if all of your people guesting to servers like Blackgate came back and actually helped their (being your) server, you could take it down -_-
In all honesty i am not one for jumping on the nerf bandwagon but i believe that he does need to be nerfed in this case.
Watch that video by skipping through, you’ll notice that the Dev’s and the people they have allowed to trial it who know the tactics get it to 75%, this is with cheating as a dev uses something to chunk massive amounts of HP off him at one point and then the timer runs out.
I was part of that sneak peak. Please keep in mind the following…
*The developer intervention seemed to be only just enough to progress the event along so they could show off the whole event for the live stream.
*There were three groups of 20 people each participating who had never experienced the content before.
*The number of people we had participating was nowhere near the 80 players the devs said they though would be needed to take Teq down.
*We players were playing with a bunch of people we had never played with before and playing mechanics we had never encountered before.
*Many of us players didn’t have any time to digest the new mechanics.
*Many players didn’t have time to familiarize ourselves with the LFG tool and take advantage of it before we had to jump into the fray.
*We players were dumped onto pre-generated characters and many of us were playing unfamiliar builds. Most folks barely had a chance to swap out to different weapon sets.
*All the pre-made characters were on accounts with keybinds set to default, which very much felt like playing with your hands tied behind your back if you rely heavily on customized keybinds.
Due to the above factors, the Anniversary Bash sneak peek is NOT good support/evidence for nerfing Teq 2.0.

Dear Arenanet,
you finally gave us an actual challenging world boss that can’t be killed with brainless autoattack in 2 mins.
That’s exactly what a good part of the community was asking for and you just did it pretty good, please don’t listen to the people asking for a nerf when they didn’t even try to stop that kitten autoattack, plug the brain and think about alternative ways to face him.
Thank you and keep up the hard work!
P.S.
FYI, I’m from FSP and we could damage Tequatl just for a 20~25% of his health.

Because this happens. And then everyone dies.
And it was glorious.

It takes 15 minutes to do it. If you win, you get massive rewards. If you lose, well tough luck, you lost 15 minutes.
What’s the problem?

If you purposely want to restrict yourself by only using auto-attacks Charak, that’s your choice, but you shouldn’t come complaining about your self imposed boredom. Perhaps if you made yourself a bit more useful it would have gone faster and you’d have a bit more fun at it.
Joy to the world, ignorance is bliss
I respectfully disagree. I had a blast watching the lazy farmers getting blasted yesterday. The encounter went something like this:
Boss: Flame Elemental
The clean-up is almost complete and I observe the regular posse of warriors migrate to the centre of the room. So, helpful as I am, I tell them in chat that the new boss will burn anyone too close to it.
Obviously I get ignored. With a couple of seconds left before the abomination appears I repeat my warning, only to be mocked.
And so the Fire Elemental appears, swiftly burns the whole group to a crisp in a couple of seconds and the rest of the fight gets accompanied by comments like:
“What is this crap!”
“This is too much!”
“OMG, another part of the game ruined, thanks Anet!”
“This sucks!”
No gentlemen, you suck!
I got much more enjoyment out of that than I should have really.
Joy to the world, ignorance is bliss
Ooh. Events that can actually fail.
The HORROR!
I’m really ashamed what the gaming world has become…
One – Piken Square
I somewhat agree. I think it would be interesting if there was some sort of objective that would cause failure rather than time. Perhaps give the megalaser health and have Tequatl or risen attack it. Once its destroyed then the event fails. Would also be nice if there was a way to repair the laser. Like at 50% Teq flys off and we get a chance to repair. I love that there is a chance for failure now. Makes fighting feel a lot more meaningful.
He’s late for his pedicure, so he can only stop a short while, that’s why. More of a fly by visit than an actual invasion.
I think the timer needs to be raised…. But to remove them completely is wrong… its like saying here you can keep failing but don’t worry you won’t truly ever fail… You can keep doing it and with time it will die… There is no risk of the server failing so yes up the times… But do not remove them, if your group can’t do them get better at how you play the game.
OMG can’t beat world boss first try…it must be too hard. I hope all servers wipe on the new Tequatl for a week before we all figure out how to coordinate what is required. No more spamming 1 skill while i pay attention to something else other than the game. Thank you!
Game Update Notes – September 17, 2013
Fake Patch Notes:
————————-
Claw of Jormag: Will now freeze up to 50 random players on the Frostgorge map three times during the encounter, frozen players will die instantly and lose 1 random piece of equipped armor which will be completely destroyed (beyond repair due to chill) Also Jormag will penalize all the afk players by raining ice shards over Lions arch which will last until it is slain. All other players running champ trains will be frozen as well and will be unable to move for 24 hrs.
Chance of precursor drop from its chest is now doubled to 0.00002% to compensate for the added difficulty.
Shadow Behemoth: Will now have 10 total phases, Each phase will now spawn additional portals accompanied by Aatxes. 5 random players will be sent into Underworld during the final phase and have a chance to fight Dhuum. If they 5 players fail to kill Dhuum, Shadow Behemoth will slay all enemies in Queensdale causing all equipped armor to break on all players. Dhuum will also randomly slay players 20 players per minute all over Tyria till the Shadow Behemoth event re-starts. Dhuum’s Scythe is now added to the chest with a chance of 0.00003% to compensate for the added difficulty.
Fire Elemental: Will now cause your fps to drop below 5 and will make this fight nearly impossible. If somehow players manage to slay this creature, it will now reward each players with a title: “My Pc is better than yours!” Upon failing, it will award the title: “Buy a better pc”
Great Jungle Wurm: Now will take up to 2 mins to kill, versus the previous 1 min to increase the difficulty. Players will receive an extra blue drop from the chest of lvl 15 to compensate for the extra time and effort.
The Shatterer: Can no longer be attacked by standing on the left side rock formation, players will now have to stand on the right side to auto-attack instead. Players standing in the old rock formation will instead turn into Branded creatures and will be forced to attack other players.
Tequatl the Sunless: will now require 80 man zergs wearing exotics or better, a cool minipet has been added to the chest which will be account bound and will have a slightly higher chance to drop than a precursor. Although we might make it more rare during a ninja patch soon after the update.
Upon failing this event, Lions Arch will be transformed to an underwater city, Risen Sharks will have their way with all that dare to enter.
Inquest Golem Mark II: will now transform into Mark III and perform a new spinning move which may knock your character all the way to cursed shore or possibly even to the Fire Island Chain (who knows this will be RNG based), knockback can be avoided if you character performs precision jump-dodge roll. This boss can no longer be defeated, instead last person standing on the platform will now be rewarded with 10g. All other Knocked off characters will lose 1g from their account wallet.
Hope you all enjoyed =)!
Looking forward to the revamp of all bosses, hope Anet implements some of the above changes =D!

I´m not saying this all has to be true, and I hope ArenaNet has something to say about this soon, but if it is true it´s a HUGE punch in the face for everyone who has performance issues with Guild Wars 2. And that are a lot people.
Not only does this drag on for almost a year, it seems they don´t even care to do anything to improve the situation and refuse to have anyone else improve the situation.
IF that would be true it would make me lose all my trust in this game which gradually decreased over the past months.
I was and still am a huge fan of ArenaNet, Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2,
but honestly not for much longer if things stay this way.
Stop complaining as if this is the end of the game doom-all end-all bring forth the cataclysm wtfgtfo ihatethisgameiquit rage posts.
Think about it. Guild Wars 2 as a compeltely new game.
If they didn’t have ascended gear, or even legendaries for that matter. EVERYone even casual players. Would complain about the lack of end game gearing. You just get a basic crafted exotic and thats it? Nothing more to it?
Luckily, they released the game with Legendaries, which gives the players a big, long term, difficult goal to work towards.
If Guild Wars 2 released with the Ascended tier in place, there wouldn’t be anyone complaining about it.
It is an end-game gearing step up that you can work for. It doesn’t take that long. It isn’t that hard.
It seriously makes sense that you have all slots with just your run-of-the-mill ascended items as a casual to moderate player. Exotics just simply don’t cut it for that ’I’ve reached the last tier’ feeling.
Guild Wars 2 needs ascended gear. While yes, it DID go against their ‘Manifesto’ or whatever about adding a gear treadmill, but don’t blow it out of proportion.
This gear is no harder to obtain than a Legendary, it’s not completely necessary to obtain them, and it really does standardize their offerings for end game gear.
Why would you have ascended backpieces or jewellery, but not any other slot?
So, stop complaining so much. The tier makes a lot of sense from a game design perspective. It doesn’t go against their manifesto too much. If it was in the game from the beginning most of you wouldn’t have thought 2 seconds about it.
Instead of complaining about how Ascended is bad, try thinking of ways where they could make horizontal progression if you don’t want them to continue adding tiers beyond this.
They explicitly said they wouldn’t add tiers above this – this is really just completing the game tbh. So what about horizontal options? How would you do it?
Turn your unconstructive and completely misguided complaints about Ascended gear into a positive direction for GW2. Tell the devs what you want out of end game instead of throwing a bubble fit about an item tier that makes lots of sense for Guild Wars 2 as a game.
As a former community manager for Kabam games, I’ll tell you right now that this guy only knows half of what is actually going on. Directors and producers don’t tell community managers anything because like this guy, he posts only part of the information online and causes a ****-storm. So, take what he says a grain of salt. All we know, now, is that we will be able to switch MF gear to another kind of gear. We don’t know anything beyond that.
I am sorry you had a bad experience in your former job. Here our developers actually talk to us and give us information we need. So what I am posting here is coming straight from the people working on the changes.
To answer a few more questions:
- If you currently have listed an item with MF on the Trading Post, they will be returned to you, as they become account bound.
- Upgrade components that currently give MF bonus will be updated with new functionality.
- All existing drops and crafting recipes that have created Magic Find gear will be replaced with new stat combos.

Every religious belief is the result of prior indoctrination/thought. No baby is born into the world with a prior understanding of either god or religion. Hence agnosticism/atheism is the null hypothesis because it is the default position to a fresh outsider.
Of course, just because something is the null hypothesis doesn’t mean it’s right. It’s just the starting position.
But let’s not get into this. My main point is that in this context, varying styles of play are all acceptable is the null hypothesis. If anyone claims otherwise (as it perfectly their right to do so), they just need to substantiate that claim and not put the burden of proof on the other person.
Your argument is akin to saying rocks are atheists because they don’t believe in anything and this is therefore the default position and the null hypothesis.
Of course they don’t. They’re rocks. They can’t. They don’t think.
If you are an atheist, you became one after considering it. You were not ‘born’ an atheist. This was not your default position.
Babies are neither capable of critical thought nor indoctrination.
People have to come of age before you can teach them anything or for them to be able to think about it for themselves what they believe.
Thinking people, the majority decide the null hypothesis, and for the longest time it’s been a religious one in every part of the world.
Atheists and other people who claim there is no God, challenge the convention and must bear the burden of proof.
_
To bring this back on topic and keep things in perspective…
Playing the game in any other way then was the intention of the creator, you must prove to the other players who may frown upon this that what you’re doing isn’t a bad thing.
Arguments can be made both ways and it’s pretty much an endless debate.
We can tango and go back and forth on this here ad nauseum, but ultimately Anet lays down the law.
Anet has a vision and they know what they want to do. That said, players do have a voice and the greater majority may well dictate the course to a certain degree.
This game was not built to be farmed. Anet didn’t sit down one day and say “Hey, let’s make GW2 the best grindy farmy kind of MMO ever!”
It was built to be played in a semi-casual kind of way. Farming is an activity people do to make money to get what they want faster then just casually playing the game.
Most people don’t care what farmers do with themselves, but if it get’s to a point where their actions can hurt the in-game economy or disrupts their personal game time (think Lyssa farm); it’s a bad thing and they do care.
Farming is kept in check by Anet, while permitted to a certain degree. Anet recognizes some players like to farm. Anet doesn’t hate farmers.
Most of their living story stuff has something nice that farmers can farm. To the point that some people are complaining!
We’ve got posts in the Queen’s Jubilee section of people complaining that they can’t do anything else except farm, because… reasons.
Or because “Anet made the Queen’s Jubilee so good that nothing else is more profitable”.
lol’…
(edited by CETheLucid.3964)
The null hypothesis does not need to be proved.
In other words, you know you have no basis in which to support your opinion, so you won’t even bother trying to make arguments defending it. Trying to hide behind excuses – which, coincidently, is what exploiters have been doing this entire week – has been proved to be rather ineffective.
Lol. Either you don’t understand what it means to assume a default position in a debate and require proof to the contrary, or you’re just prevaricating to cover up.
The first is fine…it’s ok not to know something. Just ask and I’ll explain. The latter is just bad form and shows you’re stuck and are trying to get out of it.
FYI, in case you truly don’t understand, this is akin to a religious person asking someone to prove the non existence of god. Whereas the burden of evidence is on the religious person to prove his/her affirmative declaration.
Just as a quick follow up to help you understand the scientific methodology, here’s a one minute video explaining what the null hypothesis means and where the burden of evidence lies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TfNFL_xEmQ
The problem with this however, in this particular example, is that most atheists automatically assume that theirs is the null hypothesis.
Atheism is a relatively new belief. Atheism is the new thought, the challenger to the conventional understanding, not the other way around.
Any honest person will accept that the default position is one that supposes a Creator God. It falls on the atheist to prove that there is no Creator and no God.
At the risk of inciting a religious debate, I won’t go any further then to say that atheists have not achieved that goal.
It remains but an argument, an opinion. Not a matter of fact.
