Proposal Overview
Guild Tags/Leader Tags
Essentially commander tags that are only visible to people in the guild, has its own permission under guild roles.

Goal of Proposal
This would cut down greatly on the amount of commander tags on display during guild missions, prevent accidental splitting of a zerg when a WvW guild group runs through (also would prevent spy’s from knowing the location of said guild group if it was really an issue).

In larger group content it would also allow you to find your group easier and result in less bystanders coming to see why there is a tag up.

Proposal Functionality
A visually distinct map icon (i.e your guilds banner) that appears on the map for players with it active, can only be seen by members of your guild.

A role setting under the guild permissions, activation from the same interface as the commander tag.

Associated Risks
Potentially more tag spam if you’re in a large guild.

I know there are posts about this already, but since necroing threads is frowned upon, I thought I create a new thread about it. I think it really deserves some attention.

Rangers need a better burst heal for powerbuilds, ArenaNet. Currently, you barely see any ranger run with Heal as one, because this heal is worse compared to troll unguent or even healing spring.

Suggestions to improve it:

- Shorter cooldown OR
- Classified as survival skill OR
- Remove 1 or 2 conditions before the heal (just like mending does), decrease casting time OR
- Increase healing to 7205 (10%)

What are your thoughts about this?

I believe this may be more in line with what players were hoping for. Also note, many of the tasks are BELOW the level where you will unlock a trait tier – this is intentional. I believe you will see better results if people can have immediate access to the content and use that to fuel growth, rather than being gated by their level for content they should have access to already.

Notice that most of these tasks are vague and open-ended, designed to compliment a “play as you want” style. Traits are gained in progression without having to force too much checklist style exploration. If a trait is not listed here, it’s because I personally consider it to be at least feasible. Others should comment as necessary.

Suggestions for new trait unlocks:

1-I: Obsidian Sanctum. Complete three jumping puzzles. Any puzzles.

1-II: Inferno’s Needle. Help the Charr fight the flame legion! Complete 10 Flame Legion-themed hearts

1-III: 100% Gendarran Field. Complete five “combat” skill challenges in Kryta

1-V: 100% Blazeridge Steppes. Defeat a Champion creature in Brisban Wildlands

1-VII: Ogre Camp. Locate 10 “camp” POIs

1-VIII: Citadel of Flame Defeat a Champion creature in Fireheart Rise

Unlocking traits. We talked about this a bunch in the horizontal progression CDI and it came to our attention that many players were not learning about traits, how they worked, or understanding the options. When we talked through unlocking traits via activities it led us in the direction we have currently. Unfortunately, unlocking traits in the open world generally causes one of the #1 things we never wanted in the game which is players in conflict. You want might the Balthazar trait but someone is about to complete the chain and leave you waiting. This is bad for the game, but I think right now only occurs this dramatically for a few of the traits.

Honestly I do like the concept of unlocking traits by doing stuff around the world of tyria, however i think it is poorly implemented. Some of the worst Trait unlocking is at the adept tier, i will list just a few here:

Trait line 1, Trait 1: complete story quest “A Light in the Darkness” – a trait that should be available for a level 36 character is locked behind a level 55 story step… i think you can see whats wrong with that…

Trait line 3, Trait 2: complete story quest “The Battle of Claw Island” – again, a trait that should be available to a level 36 character, this time locked behind a slightly lower level 50 story step… i think you can see where i’m going with these…

Trait line 4, Trait 1: complete the obsidian sanctum jumping puzzle – i’m sorry WHAT?! Are you out of your kitten minds over there?! the obsidian sanctum is one of the LONGEST, most tedious jumping puzzles i’ve EVER had to do, and that’s without all the other servers griefing you… Whoever decided this would be appropriate for an ADEPT trait should be fired no questions asked!

and finally

Trait line 5, Trait 3: complete story quest “Retribution” – again, another adept trait locked behind a quest way higher level than it needs to be, this time a whopping level 59!

Granted these are just ones i could think of when i decided to create an alt and finally got to level 30 and realized how much of a chore it would be to unlock traits i USED to use to help smooth the leveling process… This is completely OUTRAGEOUS! You should not be forcing new players to suffer difficult or high level content just to unlock traits they should be experimenting with by level 40…

Lucky for you though i have a solution for this too, its a solution i’m sure a lot of people have been thinking about for a long time, make generic trait unlocking guides. These generic trait unlocking guides can then drop from level appropriate content (ie adept trait guides will drop from level 30-59 world bosses, map completions, jumping puzzles, ECT. while master trait guides will drop from level 60-79 content, and grandmaster will drop from level 80 content) heck you could even just go through and replace ALL the usual occurrences of unlocking traits with dropping guides for your first time through the content (obviously you have a way of keeping track of whether its the first time through or not otherwise i’d get trait unlock messages every time i did TA story)

Now i know these ideas are by no means simple to implement but i honestly think it would be a simpler system than what you gave us with the LAST feature pack…

I’m really excited to see which servers end up with the most coverage and players.
It’s hard to tell right now, everyone’s looking at each other wondering right now. You can feel the anticipation as players hover their cursors over the gem purchase tab.

Once the announcements are made by the big WvW guilds it’ll be a scramble to get to the servers they are moving to. I cant tell you how excited I am to see that!

Based on the previous tournament, let’s hope that the lower tiers can learn from server X that just because they are currently in bronze and put in the same amount of effort that allowed server X to dominate silver league! Man I was so excited seeing server X, the underdog of silver league, putting all that effort to push down veteran silver league WvW guilds.

I am so excited I cannot wait to see how this tournament plays out.

i get it’s the normal “omg nerf qq” response, but when you’re throwing out that “omg minority got all mes builds nerfed mesmer is dead” overreactions, then you’re accomplishing kitten all. it’s these godkitten overreactions that make anet do all these pingpong balance changes. there are plenty of builds that never even touched either PU or DD, that perform just as well, and in fact are getting buffed with the patch.

that’s a general blanket statement. my shatter mes bias is incoming.

blackwater mesmers did not require a buff. when the most common counterplay to your build is “don’t give them a bag, just run”, then, get this, you aren’t a well balanced build. this isn’t even getting into how useless they were outside of wvw roaming. but suddenly all of you are out of the woodwork crying about how DD’s unavoidable conditions were such excellent design choices and that their counter was to not kill the clones, like that is the easiest thing in the world and you get countered all the time by people who kill you instantly because they know where you are at all times and can keep their weapon skills and aoe’s from hitting every clone that gets produced from you dodging an attack or throwing a greatsword in their face or whatever. the trait was downright broken, and if you are defending it, then you are simply doing it to benefit yourself and no one else. but this is the forums and that’s what qq is for right, everyone wants the best class so they can just kill everyone and learn nothing from any fights ever because who needs to learn their class or anyone else’s right.

if you thought that blackwater was the only viable way for a mesmer to take out a backstab thief, then it’s entirely a l2p issue. are thieves difficult to fight solo? yeah, they are. are they always going to win? no. from a shatter mesmer perspective, the fight is over quickly. you need to be fast, you need to be moving, you need to be using your distortion and diversion, you need to use any weapon blocks you have. if you’ve given yourself up and are just whining about how thieves are impossible, and that the only way to fight them is to tank yourself up and pressure them down slowly, then idk why you’re still playing a mesmer, because you obviously think thief is the better class. backstab thieves are glass, and they have nowhere near the amount of base damage mitigation a mesmer has. if a fight is hard, learn. find an spvp arena you can borrow, practice the matchup.

yeah no one is going to read this.

tldr: if you played blackwater mes and are getting salty about this, then all i see is someone who didn’t want a competitive game with actual competitive play in it. there are plenty of mesmer builds that are just as effective, as fun to play (i’d argue more but w/e), and more effective in different gamemodes. for kittens sake the IE buff should be wetting the panties of actual legit condi mesmers right now, not just the “come dual me broseph” mesmer groupies. and it’s not like DD clone death roots you and teleports all zergs on the map to your position.

I never thought I would be glad when my class was getting nerfed but the PU build needed a nice kick in the jewels for a while. Not even chopping block changes either, nice simple ‘this can now be avoided’ and ‘PU now gives more boons, less defense all the time’.

In my opinion, the PU change isn’t a huge nerf at all and I will go even further and say it doesn’t really change much at all. A few seconds less of protection isn’t a big deal with all the mechanics a PU mesmer has to avoid damage. You get more damage however little that may be and look on the bright side. Some classes can remove boons from you, and swiftness and might could help shield from removing some of the more important boons like protection, aegis.

To me clone death traits is just dumb and mindless gameplay. All you would basically do is just spam clones and there is pretty much no counter for it. If you leave the clones alive, they will stack lots of bleeds on you if you even try to close the gap. If you try to kill them, you are putting bleeds, weakness and vulnerability on yourself. And a lot of classes have AoEs and cleaves and have no choice but to destroy the clones in order to hit the mesmer and you pretty much have no feasible way of avoiding it. It was being used so much as a crutch. Now at least you can avoid it and there is some counterplay involved. Maybe the bleeding change was unneeded, but I think IE on staff clones and auto attack on torment more than make up for this. IE interacting with staff clones is a tremendous buff to any build that uses Staff (Power or Condi) that it makes this nerf look like a drop in the bucket.

It’s not like you can dodge every clone death either, if that was your crutch for DPS I feel sorry for you.

Hi everyone,

The article about profession system only presented the idea behind this system and we generally don’t give precise details about these systems unless these details are needed to understand the idea. In this case we can’t share details but we want to reassure players that they’re not going to see changes in loot so visible that some components are going to “rain” or they’ll stop seeing loot variety. It’s more complex than that.

The adjustments to the loot system are fairly subtle and the goals are that, after a certain time, your characters will effectively have more components you can use. So it may take some time for you to see a difference, or not, but it’s not going to feel like a very visible change each time you loot a mob. We want players, in particular new ones or those creating alts, to more often be able to use the items they loot directly or get something that is relevant to their profession. It does not mean that you’ll get less varied loot overall. We’ll keep monitoring the changes to kitten its affects.

Let me translate this for you:
It is exactly the way we think it is getting changed, that is it will affect everything including level 80s. But they cannot say it out loud, otherwise there will be an uproar with the community.

So they are going to implement it the same way we all expect it to work, except that they are just telling us it is “not what we think”, so that by the time we get enough research data on new drop rates(by comparing previous drop data with the new ones) to confirm it was exactly as we predicted, it will have been too late for players to uproar and ask for a rollback(because it will have been implemented for a while into the game by then).

Therefore, expect the expected nerf to your drops.
Note: If my post gets deleted, at least we will be able to confirm that I am right on this.

tl;dr
Drop rates are getting nerfed but we are being told they are not.

Raging about Commander tags costing 300 gold per color got it changed to 300 gold for all colors. Sometimes it’s best to let the developers know what we think of their proposed changes before it’s released.

People are kind of dancing around the issue here, the actual problem is the inequal drop rates (and therefore prices of mats) between crafting disciplines. If they actually all dropped at a reasonably similar rate from nodes, class drops from mobs wouldn’t be an issue, but a bonus. But instead cloth only comes from killing mobs, because apparently making fiber is an art lost to all of Tyria.

Really, why on earth can you not get fibers for cloth from harvesting plants? That’s where they come from, it make sense, far more sense than farming people and rotting nearly naked undead for them!

This is generally a good change, because it priotizes personal rewarding over trading post tactics. The advantages are worthier than the disadvantages.

I also wouldn’t mind if this affected even lv80 characters. It would bring something a bit more unique to playing with alts, and if you don’t like it, you always have the trading post to rely for and make your trades.

This wouldn’t be as big of a problem if they were evenly priced, but they are not. Mithril ore is worth ~45 copper, however Silk Scrap is worth ~2 silver, and poor Leather is worth ~10 copper. This reduces income for Heavy and Medium armor class while boosting it for Light armored classes. I’m also asked for a lot of silk to get my ascended armor, and I shouldn’t be hindered in acquiring it because of my chosen class.

A typical WvW build includes 20+ seconds of stability AND 2 stun breakers AND 1 invulnerabilty. And then traits.! That is a normal build. And you can’t deal with one skill that does DoT.

Every post you make is a complaint and something that isn’t even one of the many thing rangers have to complain about. Ranger do have cause to complain. About hundred blades? NO!

Odd, I didn’t see a rude intrusion by the OP there. The bears were fine with having him there. Nor do I see anything to suggest that the ANet person was there first. In fact, there IS a rude intrusion there, but not by the OP.

Planned or not, he had become part of the event. For an outsider to insist that he leave is rude. It would be like a photographer saying “Okay, it’s time for the team photo. But I only want the good players. Mike, you need to step aside for a minute.”

Earlier I made a post asking how long the Marjory weapons would be for sale, as I do not have the money at the moment to purchase them. When I logged in to my account, a complete and total stranger had gifted BOTH the axe and the dagger to my account!! I can not begin to thank this person enough. This act of selflessness has entirely restored my faith in this community. Ask yourself if you could report someone for standing in your way while you want to take a screenshot.

And if you’re coming to the same conclusion like me, ask yourself if a GM should be allowed to take actions against a player standing in his way while taking a screenshot. A screenshot probably taken for his or her personal archive and not for the PR department or any other “official” ANet stuff.

That said, it remains unclear if the DCs really were caused by this GM (or what rank he might have). So: I can’t judge the situation, but from my opinion, it definitively needs to be investigated.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the lower tiers are not a resource for the higher tier servers to stripmine so they can prop up their particular playstyle that seems to be losing people as well.

Most of us like where we are and can always transfer if we don’t. Since we aren’t transferring up in droves, don’t think that forcing us to does anybody any favours.

How about scattering the entire population of the gold tiers over the other eighteen servers instead? Makes about as much sense.

Actually, people ARE transfering in droves out of lower tiers, specially around Season, and it’s been going on for months.

The total active players in pretty much all tiers have been more than halved, and in low tiers it’s because people moved to higher tiers because they were tired of having nothing to do but PvD 80% of the time…..

Pretending to “love” being on a lower tier server means 2 things :
- you ONLY play WvW once in a while, during prime time, in a guild group
- you have no idea how WvW looks like in mid/high silver/low gold CURRENTLY

The whole “it’s only BvB LoL” is totally false, and it’s EXACTLY the same in Bronze too, as people flock together as soon as they can if it means being able to fight the ennemy (FoW is the first one in lower tiers to do so….granted they can’t really do that often in their current position).

On opposite, in silver/gold, there is already enough people to cover the need for big groups, and hence there is room for chaos groups, roamers and such (and the disappearance of most solo roamers has nothing to do with “blobbing” it’s just that no one wants to face the stupid condi meta thief/mesmer metas alone [or worse face 2/3 of them at a time], and roamers banded together to 4/6 man teams (that allow them to flip towers too btw).

Everything you got in lower tiers is possible in better, more often, and at more times of day than in lower tiers… except hours at a time of PvDing with no ennemies, losing siege because no one is there to refresh it, and have the WHOLE WvW team on your side be comprised of under 10 people for hours at a time…….
