The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
lordkrall.7241:Every single change made to WvW after release was based on feedback and stuff demanded on these forums.
Feedback and stuff demanded? What was asked wasn’t necessarily received.
lordkrall.7241:A new map – EOTM added.
A new map? sure…………….. But was designed specifically as on overflow due to unprecedented demand for WvW in China Gw2 (which was explained to you before) and had no real bearing on WvW (which you already know).
lordkrall.7241:A way to play WvW while maps are queued – EOTM added.
Wrong. This was wanted at GW2 release. When EotM came out even tier 1 had little to no queues, save reset day.
lordkrall.7241:Able to see queue-size – Add said information to the interface.
Should have been there at release. Queue for something and having no idea when your queue would pop? Minutes? Hours?
lordkrall.7241:A place for GvG – Remove stat-bonuses from OS.
Sacrx pointed out this came from an ANet employee openly trolling a GvG match and the subsequent /facepalm ANet gave themselves. Nevermind the fact we didn’t want increases to stat-bonuses in WvW to begin with.
lordkrall.7241:How is this not listening to feedback?
Stick your fingers in your ears close your eyes and go “lalalalalalalala”, interestingly you could still be listening to feedback.
Sure didn’t take the Ranger community long to go from happy about the best patch we ever got back to arguing about who needs to L2P and how good/bad the class is
I realize the bumping old posts can be quite annoying but I believe the reason it’s done is because the lack of responses and content WvW has received lately.
If you look at half of the bumped threads they are all promises of content that we’ve not seen.
Bumping old threads is a reminder to the developers that false promises do not fall on deaf ears.

Haven’t brought my Necro into WvW for awhile.Oh wait.
meanwhile in the general forum….
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-MegaServer/page/47#post4246210
why the sticky post its only for wvw forum?
can ppl necro there?
shocked…the air is getting heavier here..
Lol i remember someone necro-posting recently in a thread that was 8months old where devon said that “SOON” there would be new exciting way to spend fragments and stuff.
Good thing “SOON” (funny how true it would be for stuff as important as posting on forums) people like that bad bad man will be banned
Nice to see they rather chose to further ignore than engage in a discussion.
I guess all those necro bumps with failed promises were a bad PR.
It is usually people that have been complaning for quite some time that do necro the threads to “make a point” after all.
Agreed on the this part, a point was made: lots of unfulfilled promises.
They can dislike the image that this projects, but starting making rules about what can be replied to and cannot be replied to isn’t the good way to go about it.
When does a thread become a necroed thread anyway? Is 5 months and 30 days OK but 6 months and 1 day NOT OK? It makes no sense from an ethical perspective to allow one and not the other.
Well, at least they did give us a warning.
The main issue with too much necroing (except for the fact that it is extremely silly, and doesn’t help anyone) is that it might very well end up with ArenaNet simply shutting down the forums, instead of having to spend the extra time to lock thread upon thread upon thread due to completely irrelevant necros.
Oh no! If they shutdown the forums where would we go to communicate with the dev’s about all the upcoming changes to WvW? Oh wait…
It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. I know the necroing highlights Anet’s lack of communication and just generally makes it look bad but how about archiving inactive threads instead of threatening to punish users?
^ This pretty much nails why it happens and how ANet should manage it.
BTW go to the PvP thread right now.
THERE"S RED NECROS THERE TOO
I wish Mark would realize that his job involves more than just infracting people. We need actual communications with players.
Due to all the necroing we’ve finally received a response!
Please read it before you necro.
Also Mark, thanks for hiding that post in the stickies where noone looks any more! Very underhanded tactics!

@HHR;
Yeah, I don’t understand why Eagle Eye and Read the Wind don’t affect the Shortbow still. Most of any trait consolidation I think is needed though involves reworking the Skirmishing traitline, which ideally would kill 2 birds with one stone.
They also said we wouldn’t see all of the progress from the CDI in one patch, and the biggest single reoccurring note they took away from the CDI is how poor the overall comparative quality of the Pet Mechanic is. So I wouldn’t go thinking that’s it for ranger changes in totality, but the ones they are implementing are arguably a low hanging fruit improvement to the changes the community wants made to the Mechanic.
As far as weapons go, I’m not exactly sure which ones have true flaws outside of nitpicking small details. I know that a lot of poeple don’t like the 1h sword, but I use it and think it’s amazing in both PvP and PvE content, though I can understand where people have issues with it. I do think that being able to cancel the chain to dodge better would be an important improvement, but I’m not of the opinion that it is a necessary improvement. It would be more Quality of Life than anything.
Besides that, with the update, excluding the mainhand sword, I think that the Axe, Greatsword, and Longbow, will all be fine unless the patch power creeps other classes up and elevates them to the same current plateau situation we have currently (where they are up on a plateau while the rest of the classes like Ranger and Mesmer are stuck down below). All of the offhand weapons are fine too for the most part. I mean, I wouldn’t object to improvements, but they are pretty fine in their current form.
I think that utilities are the things that need help. Heal as One is a pretty bland, boring, and an inferior heal overall. Traps need heavy investment just to compete with other classes baseline options that are more spammable and take up less utility space on their bars, and Guard and Search and Rescue are pretty meh too (we need to take a grandmaster trait just to bandaid guard into being functionally useful).
Spirits are Spirits. They are strong utility and arguable better AI than every other class can create (except mesmer phantasms), but they have the stigma of being compared to Banners (pickup objects, not AI) due to similar functionality and then the argument becomes (it is an argument I agree with, don’t get me wrong) is that Banners are better in every way because they can’t be killed and can be traited to be even more supportive and can be moved at a base level.
That would be a redesign of a utility and a rework of a major portion of traits in a traitline though, which would be a much more extensive update than even the one we are about to receive. So I can agree all day that I would prefer to see spirits work differently, but they are still a good enough build currently to not warrant immediate attention.
Truth is, this is a very, very, very good update filled with fairly heavy improvements for us. Most of the improvements I see people asking for are unrealistic based on either balance (not usually this one anymore), or how involved the changes would be. Like, they would have been things that needs to be implemented during the development phase of the game, and now that we’re so far into the lifespan of the game, it would take years to acknowledge that and change and redesign (animations and art and skill teams would be required) and balance out the game based on the current balance/change process.
So I mean, while we could spitball forever and come up with amazing changes and improvements and everything, any actual implementation of the extent of the things we could come up with, if they happened, would be so far in the future that they could possible not even be relevant anymore.
Just look at the current update. It’s going to be amazing and very well deserved, but it is also much, much too late into the games life cycle to salvage the community and the players that tried the game, hated the class, couldn’t find a suitable alternative, and moved on to a different game. The only way ANet is ever going to gain any players back, no matter how substantial any balance changes are, is to release an expansion and advertise the crap out of it with all of the class revamps that will bring in old players that quit and new buyers that aren’t aware the game still has a pulse and figured they’d just be buying a dead MMO at this point.
Sorry, textwall/rant. Couldn’t end my flow of thoughts lol.
Almost everyone who damaged a person who dies gets rallied. Uplvls are easier to kill, often by a huge margin due to lower stats and less access to needed traits. Uplvls feed the enemy group and can lead to your team getting wiped because the enemy kept getting up.
In short, no one likes losing/failing because someone else kittened up and especially not when said kitten up was entirely avoidable.
If a guild ask me to not follow them, and it has happen again this week, I will usually respect that. However, they better be kittening polite about it or else I’m going to enjoy trolling their shadow till next Christmas and actively seeking them on all maps just for the principle of it.
They are not in their right to ask such a thing PERIOD. Them obtaining such a grace is all on the other player’s good will. And even so, that group shows little respect to begin with by wanting to exclude itself from other players while strongly implying that player is a nuisance to their team. IMO, they are in a pretty bad spot to ask for respect in the first place. The point in WvW that some Guild seem to conveniently forget is that their team is not their guild, but their server.
So basicly what you’re saying is that you can do whatever you want and have every right to play with whomever you want whether they want to play with you or not, but other players dont have that right.
I… dont really think I argue with that.
I think you have quite a loaded answer here. Nobody forces you to be best buddies and take them in your party. However, yes, they sure as hell can run where they want the same way you also can. The way WvW matches are done are based on servers, not pre-selections. Anyway, just think about it for one whole second. What can you do to prevent someone from following you? You can try to loose them by using wp, but it’s nothing like a guarantee of anything even in the short run. It’s the same reality as when you go to the public swimming pool. You can go there with friends, but you won’t be alone and you can’t say to others what to do as long as they behave within the frame of the context they are. It’s the same for them. Maybe WvW isn’t for you if you find that unjust or annoying. Again, you team is the server, not your guild.
BTW for the one above saying that being tagless or not is relevant, well, it’s not. It doesn’t change a kitten thing about all that I’ve said above.
Imagine you go to a public swimming pool, and someone you don’t know follows right behind you the entire time. Like, 2ft/50cm away, almost on top of you. For over an hour. You don’t know them. They’re just staring at you. Its really quite creepy.
Can you still not ask them to respect your space?
But they have just as much right to be in the swimming pool yeah?
And they’re allowed to go where they want in the swimming pool right?
So why can’t they follow right behind you for hours and hours?
Just because something is “allowed” doesn’t make it socially acceptable.
Or do you think it’s socially acceptable to latch on to people you don’t know, and follow them around, join in their conversations etc? If you went to the pool with your friends, would you be totally fine with some random person inserting themself into your group, and then they refuse to go away when you ask?
Because I don’t find that sort of behaviour acceptable. Illegal? No. Socially unacceptable? Yes.

If a guild group of 7 people down a zerg of 45 people, your upleveled friend could rez the entire zerg by getting herself killed. Uplevels do not belong tagging along with guilds, that’s incredibly disrespectful to what they’re trying to do. She was basically griefing them.
Well after 5,022 hours on ranger and this is all ranger gets?
Rly? Apart from all these changes being pretty sweet, there are quite a number of them too. Don’t be so negative. I think this opens up some build variety. There are a lot of possibilities if you look past the longbow changes.
Yay you zerg runners will finally be able to sit in your zergs and be helpful. It doesnt change anything for spvp ranger. They will still get destroyed. This isnt anything to celebrate. Wait till all the other class buffs and changes come out and ranger will be right back in its useless spot.
kk, then delete your ranger casey. Ive spoken with you ingame, and you are one of the thousands that relentlessly paint a black picture of this class, but still miraculously keep playing it.
Now for once, stop insulting every ranger player there is and do what you tell everyone else to do instead, your negativity is not helping a darn soul. These buffs are well deserved, they are needed. Most of them have been asked for since forever, and if you fail to grasp how much this means to the average ranger player, then i can only conclude that you are playing THE WRONG GAME.
Thank you ArenaNet, Thank you for listening to our wishes!
Not just myself, but most ranger players are HAPPY about these changes.
I really hope you showed up with a bearbow.
It’s hard to respect PvErs in WvW since, if they’re on your server and are anywhere near a fight, they become total rallybots. They don’t listen to what people say, especially when what they’re doing affects other people. The reverse isn’t true.
It’s not like a WvWers can come in when people are doing an event in PvE and single-handedly screw everything up resulting in the event failing and time being wasted.
Plus, PvErs benefit from all of the powers of the mist that their WvW crew gains them by playing – what have the PvErs done for the WvWers lately? Certainly nothing to warrant an automatic ceasefire from opponents so that they can get a few POIs and skill points.
No, if you want these, play WvW. It’s usually the only way you’re going to get the POIs inside structures anyway.
Good point. But either way getting the WvW completion isnt difficult, it just takes time, and people dont like doing anything that resembles work to get what they want.
Also on this: "what have PvErs done for the WvWers lately? " just reminded of Monty Python’s life of Brian:
Reg: All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Attendee: Brought peace?
Reg: Oh, peace – shut up!

This whole post is hilarious. Although I don’t know what’s better, the OP thinking there is nothing wrong with his idea, or the fact he’s probably one of the headless chickens trying to ram a tower wall for his final vista.
I have 5 characters with 100% WvW map completion and only ~20% PvE map completion.
Can I have my PvE map completion handed to me on a silver platter for zero effort please?
How bout playing the game, helping your server win at WvW and the caps will come naturally. I had no problem getting 100% map completion on a low tier server and I found that WvW was fun and that’s all I do now. Go play the game, don’t complain about something that is not broken.
So.. you are forced to wait. Indefinitely. For months. =/
Yeah it has been months.. wait! years for me, I still need 60%+ of map completition in pve but I don’t want to kill mobs and do quests, why don’t the quests complete themselfs for me ?, I should at least be able to go to npcs and grab the rewards of other players work.
I want my golds and my world completition NOW :O, no joking.
…
..
.
They should have something like:
Chicken Mode You have taken the easy way out and must walk this map as a chicken.
Once enabled, you are transformed into a chicken for 10 minutes and move 50% slower but are able to map. You cannot see your allies or enemies, you cannot see chat, you cannot chat, you cannot whisper, you cannot see upgrades, you cannot see sieges, you see the bare bones of the map and nothing more, and once mapping is complete or the timer runs you are kicked from the map. Chicken Mode can only be used once per 6 hours.
You know, I have no sympathy for someone who just wants their map completion and get out, without having ever interacted with their server’s WvW community or even bothered to join the teamspeak/mumble server.
TLDR: WvW’rs shouldn’t be allowed to WvW so that PvE’rs can get achievements
They will “buff” something, which won’t be the right thing then they will ninja nerf something good.
The song of our people…
Do you hear the rangers sing?
Singing the song of angry men!
It is the music of empty bowstrings,
And our bears in circles, dead.
May the leaping of our hearts,
match to the leaping of our sword!
And pray that our evade works
when the nerfbat comes!
The problem with having pets is that not only our single target DPS is lower, our cleave hits less targets and we have very little AOE. Furthermore, our weapon and utility skills are worse off because we have a pet.
It seems to me that every lack of buffs, or any weakness with the class is because we have a pet . I find it insulting.
GW1 had a better and more involved pet system and pet combat. That alone should speak volumes when people would prefer a direct port of the old system over the new system.
But for my overall issue with it because I shouldn’t directly compare games, GW2 is mobility based combat in which movement is the most important determining factor in fights. Most of the combat in the game takes place while mobile (as opposed to rooted attacks). Attacks that root the player are often times compensated by being big, important skill, both to land as the user and avoid as the intended victim.
At which point we get to pets, where none of there attacking abilities are mobile, and yet almost none of their abilities are strong enough to justify being rooted abilities. The downside to this is especially evident versus other players, who generally are smarter than the AI to the degree that they can use their intelligence as a player to negate the effectiveness of their opponents AI. However, their effectiveness (30% damage before factoring in utility function) is completely and totally tied to that AI, meaning that now, that player has to “trick” or force the AI into being intelligent enough to compete with your intelligence to the point where it lands some of its damage or abilities.
This is especially difficult in terrain based kiting, where in certain situations players are smart enough to figure out that they can kite pets on terrain that those pets won’t be able to traverse, essentially handicapping ranger players by 30% of their damage on top of utility being lost.
That is a huge issue. I have no doubt that eventually ANet will be able to iron out details with Pet AI versus content, but versus other players, to some degree, I think that rangers are always going to have to work harder to get their pet mechanic to work than other classes and their mechanics, and I don’t see ANet compensating ranger players for their disadvantages with any clear advantages (like eles get with having such high DPS but having to manage so many skills and a low health pool).
Being able to use the other 2 cooldowns skills on demand that our pets use would be a huge start. But the ANet devs think “that’s too hard for ranger players.” But just like ANet’s shock with how fast the Tequatl revamp was beaten versus the time frame they were expecting, they seem to have a habit of gauging the intelligence and abilities of their playerbase a lot lower than where they actually are.
The big problem with Ranger damage is that maximum efficiency is dependent on a pet that is only slightly smarter than my desk lamp.
Okay, I lied. My desk lamp actually does something when I push the right button.
Arena.net’s improved the F2 reaction time and their survivability, but the pet still is awfully dumb, in ways that the Ranger can’t always correct easily (like ranged pets won’t always move if their attacks are obstructed or melee pets won’t always respond to an enemy’s movements, and any F2 attacks have a good chance of catching nothing but air).
On top of that, Ranger has issues in large group settings because much of their weapon damage is balanced around the conditions they cause… which in large open world play is often rendered useless due to the condition caps.
They are both problems that impact EVERY class, but due to the nature of the Ranger class, those problems both combine to hit them the hardest (though Necros would have a pretty strong claim as well).
As a result, there’s really only one or two very narrow builds that allow a Ranger to be effective in group and large scale play, unlike warriors who have a small handful of “viable” builds.
The damage for Ranger CAN be there, so in that sense they aren’t as “broken” as you might hear the cries claim… but it definitely needs a lot of help in order to break the stigma the class has (there is a small legion of bearbows out there that are perfectly capable of ruining the class reputation all by themselves, they don’t need assistance from the game itself).
