I have ask that in the “talk about the WvW Spring Tournament” section we might get some feed back on the issues the WvW community has had with Seasons and how they are handled?
No, they’re going to talk about how much a success it was and what they have planned for the next Pve inclusion.
1) step out of the zerg.
2) less loot.
3) you die more often → more chances to sell loot.
4) …
5) problem solved.
I don’t mean to rain on anybodies parade, but dedicating any sort of resources to pet naming before anything else that affects actual gameplay is just about the last thing I care about.
I can understand that some people are OCD enough that the aesthetic value of being able to save pet names and not take the few moments to just rename them, but seriously, in a completely outrageous metaphor, it’s like complaining about an old flip-phone because you actually have to flip it open to use it.
Enough with humoring myself though, I get it, I really do, but the game didn’t launch with it and there are still like, I would actually say probably about a literal million other things that ANet needs to dedicate those resources to before they worry about rangers not being able to save their pet names.
So while the miniscule effect on the QoL of the class might be nice, I would rate it as overall unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
My opinion though, you don’t have to listen to me, and obviously it will never stop bugging the people that it bugs, so I’m not trying to dissuade you from your arguments lol.

Well, a bit early to get all hyped up as we can not be sure what this is about, but improving general enemy AI would be a huge step forward for this game.

Animations don’t help when you can literally run circles around the enemy.
They can. If the skill that they use includes a CC, or a target-lock leap/something, running around them wouldn’t be a problem. All they need to know is when use and what of good stat/animated skills. Like if you run around it, the AI says “yay, didn’t hit the player for like 6 seconds, let’s leap on its face” – or “Arrgh, this one tries to kite me, let’s CHARGE-locked” – or “Hey hey hey he knocked me down and damages me heavy! Retreat strafe back, block, if gets close just kick it awaaaay!”

If you’d changed an existing skill or add a new one to have that functionality that would not be a real AI change, but what you are describing could be a textbook example of AI. Also, the animation of a skill has no effect on how it works, only on how it looks and possibly on how players react to the skill. I find it funny how you say AI changes are not needed and then describe an AI change as a possible “alternative”, I think you actually agree with the sentiment in this thread without being aware of it

And give enemies very strong healing abilities, so poison can have a place in the game other than a really bad DoT.

tonight not 10 min ago, guild mate rety al jijo made an incredible shot that saved us from an attack at north hills. With a treb at the lord room of hills he shot and made it in the oil hole, hitting the door and killing a ram. he did this not once but 4 times, thwarting what would have been an unstoppable BP attack to get there hills back. screen shot for proof that the oil hole is big enough for the shot to fit and that it was done.

When I played WvW today I had no idea what was going on, it felt like a new game… I was stupefied and mystified at the same time… how could they unload so many changes on us all at once?
How were we supposed to digest all of the meta changes along with the bug fixes and improved commander/guild functions?
So content, many update, wow.
I saw that they nerfed the champ trains and just laughed and laughed.
are rangers now viable?

How does us using LB from 1500 range make you take more damage?
Think duoing Lupi, just because it’s a really simple example. His kicks will 1-hit anyone. If both players are up there, they both have an opportunity to get kicked. If either one messes up there is a chance the kick is directed at the player that didn’t mess up and no one is downed. If the player that messes up gets downed, the other is there to quickly rez him.
If 1 player is melee and 1 ranged, the melee player gets all the kicks. He can never mess up because not only will he for sure eat the kick, the ranged character also can’t quickly rez him.

Dungeons was never intended to be solo’d, it was intended to be a 5 man group effort.
If you fail to do it with two people, then the dungeon difficulty itself is working as intended.

You are right, it is the people who understand that much of WvW is meaningless and find fun in it still everyday that are missing critical thinking and logic….
The point I was trying to make is that the way and amount one player enjoys a game isn’t the same for everyone. Some players do not enjoy getting run over by more powerful servers week after week after week after week. Some players do not enjoy beating up enemies in a 10v1 scenario virtually every fight. Some players do compete for score some don’t. Ultimately a players threshold for boredom, enjoyment, etc is personal. Telling someone they should do XYZ and they will enjoy the game more is naive.
Some players are going to get burned out no matter what ANet does but IMO more of them will do so in league play than not.
For the next season I propose:
I am playing on Desolation and we are currently fighting the third time against exactly the same two servers. That is boring. As much as I want to contribute to my server’s success, I feel my motivation dwindling. Too long, too much the same.
Oh <server I do not want to name so I don’t turn it into a matchup thread>, how I miss you and you refreshing AC attitude. Is there a problem? Build an arrow cart. Still not solved? Build another one. No problem present? Build an arrow cart anyway.
But as of now I only get to experience the same 2 servers with their not very entertaining tactics.

Full of conspiracies. I’ve seen several matching guild tags from different sides in WvW and usually they’re just friends dueling.
If they were farming for stomps, first the whole concept is a terrible way to “farm” and second, they wouldn’t be doing it way out in the field like that screenshot. It would be in some secluded area near citadel or spawns.
I was also killed trying to cap the ruins after a friendly from the same guild (mesmer) shadowed me around until 2 Invaders jumped me.
How can you honestly believe this? You’re saying they have an elaborate cross-server 3 man setup including a spy in your guild to gank unsuspecting solo players?… If someone went though that much trouble to gank solo players they deserve your badges!

And as to them jumping you with the help of their guildie, you are kinda out of luck. For all you know they were coming to kill the friendly version and you were in their way.
Not everyone cheats. So stop assuming people are out to get you.
Why do people DEFEND this kind of behaviour?
In other MMOs like DAOC or WAR these people would have their accounts terminated. In GW2 people stick up for xrealmers?
What exactly do you think they’re doing wrong?
How about YOU provide some real evidence before declaring people guilty. A screenshot of people on 2 different servers with the same guild tag proves absolutely nothing. Maybe they used to be on the same server in the same guild together, but have since split up, and are just using the same guild tag now to say hi to old friends?
There are plenty of perfectly innocent reasons why a guild might have members on more than one server. But guilty until proven innocent right?

Except you can duel in the Obsidian Sanctum where it has no impact on PPT.
Tons of dueling just happens on the spot. So yeah, you could go to the arena to duel, but if you’re roaming and you just happen to come across a friend who plays on another server (same guild or not), you’re not going to decide, “Oh, we have to make sure we don’t impact PPT so let’s go to the arena and if it’s primetime we might have to queue to get back into this bl.”
Kaladarm, I think I actually remember you (or someone in a very similar position) asking in the Borderlands map what WvW was like on Underworld. Fair broke my heart trying to help explain it.
There were a few hours, a few glorious hours, last week when we were actually second in our match up. Didn’t last, obviously.
It is kinda depressing. There’s rarely much point trying to upgrade something cos you know you’re never going to be able to hang on to it and you know that, sooner or later, when the other servers get done with whatever they’re doing and send their main force over, you’re going to get stomped into a smear of meat paste on the ground.
I think at this point we just play for the fight, for the few times when there are enough of us on to actually mount a decent defence and have a proper epic battle, like the ones that used to be fairly commonplace.
Ah well, not a lot we can do about it. Maybe next season it might occur to someone to put an upper limit on the number of people who can transfer to a single server.
Or the rest of us bail on Underworld and leave no one there at all. That might make someone pay attention.
Shout out to all the other Underworlders who’ve stuck around through thin and thinner (confession: not logged on at all in the last few days – I can only take so much getting beaten up day after day before I need a break).
Reset night on Underworld is horrible lol. I joined Underworld when I got the game around 5-6 weeks ago as my friend already played and it was the server he was on. How I wish I’d looked before I leaped lol.
WvW is almost a dirty word on the server it would seem. Apparently Underworld is a high population server – but all 98% of them seem to want to do is PvE. I’m one of the few that spends the majority of their gaming time trying to make a difference in WvW and it’s heartbreaking sometimes to play the mode. Reset night is the absolute worse. This Friday just gone for example, we had no commanders on at all for well over a hour immediately after reset and when one did turn up, it was already way too late and our numbers too few, so they tagged down right away. This happened several times until everyone had just had enough and gave up.
It’s depressing to lose a tier 3 keep to a smallish force (almost daily) as there’s only 1 or 2 players defending it but that’s the state of WvW on Underworld sadly. We have some good players and some good commanders but there simply aren’t enough of us.
Vabbi and Whiteside Ridge have massive numerical advantage over us and even Fissure of Woe seem to have had a big push in WvW lately – but good ol’ Underworld is still barren and generally considered the whipping boys. If only I’d known any of this beforehand.
I’ll keep on fighting though – if nothing else, I can always be guaranteed a target rich environment lol. Just wish more players would take an interest, or that some fix/merge or whatever can sort out the huge imbalance as it’s an uphill struggle to say the least.
At some point but a LOOOONG time after Season 2 finishes, WvW is still fresh for many Chinese.
ANet have made the whole Living Story PVE content their priority and the PvErs are not happy campers atm with the lack of attention.
