I am openly against the train in Queensdale (QD). Not about trains in and of themselves, just the one currently in QD. I have admittedly started many disagreements in map chat about why the QD train is not healthy and have received nothing but ill thought out arguments that i wish to address here and hopefully raise awareness of the issue with Anet.
Firstly, my main argument for why the QD Train is a bad thing is because it is in a starting area. An area where players who are just starting out should be able to freely roam around and learn to play the game without a rampaging horde of higher level characters running around zerging everything in sight. Starter zones should be able to teach players how to control their character with their weapon abilities, utility skills and how to keep moving and dodging in order to survive.
Instead, what players get upon first arriving in QD is a massive blob of players who have grouped up for easy experience and non-challenging gameplay.
A majority of the arguments that i receive, is that i should not tell people how to play the game. This argument swings both ways as i have on numerous occasions when spawning the Champion Cave Troll by Vale WP and request assistance, that i should stop being a troll and wait for others in the train to come and kill it. This in itself is an example of people trying to tell me how to play the game which they seem very against when i say that the train should be stopped. A friend of mine once got so much offensive and unneeded harassment for killing a champion on the path of the QD train through Map chat and Whispers, that they did not log on for a few days. I can only imagine what this would be like to a player who logged on their first day and received this sort of abuse.
I gave arguments why it doesnt work. All of them listed above aren’t personal issues. Can people please start learn to read and then comment?
But my point is that recent evidence proves that it does work, and if it doesn’t for you take a look at how you play it.
Shatter builds work too. Interrupt builds also do, but do they get the same hype? What if someone posted a random build with nearly the same traits of a shatter build? Will he get massive hypes?
The only reason this build gets hyped so much is because osicat posted it. I’m pretty sure that if any other random dude would post this, people would go like ‘’whats different? This is just blackwater build with different runes’‘. And that’s pretty much exactly what this is, blackwater with different runes.
While not only that but I believe perplexity runes are probably as good as balthazar runes for this build. Funny how much qq perplexity gets and how much hype this rune is getting.
The build is decent, but lacks in so many ways in roaming. People forget roaming is not only about fighting, but also chasing enemies, disengaging fights and, for the ppt under us, being mobile around the map.
Another thing, this build is horrible with shatters. It has no purpose to use any of the shatters besides distortion or maybe sometimes diversion. This takes away a huge part of your gameplay and we all know how boring it can become to fight builds that rely’s on facerolling skills and spamming 1 staff. I don’t really see much combo’s possible either with this build and the ones that are there seem to be rather bad as it forces you to use your healing. None of the skills really work together like how i-leap does with phantasm or how mirror blade does with mind wrack.
p.s.: which ‘’recent evidence’’ are you talking about? A video about 1v1 against people with no idea with a pu build says nothing. 1v3/1v4 gameplay would prove a bit more.
I know I’m going to get trash talked by other Mesmer players but… Osicat, can you please stop promoting PU builds or similar like these? Where perma protection, near perma regen, heavy stealth, AI (and other stuff I wont even mention, you know you class already) just outclass everything you encounter? Making these junk builds popular is definetly not good for the game as a whole.

I fully agree, but as you can see the “Forum Celebs” and fanboys (and girls) do not. Unfortunately the state of competitive players has become “use what’s easy” and anything else is subpar and makes you a scrub.
I’ve learned to use it to my advantage. You always know what people are going to be using, so prepare to counter it. It’s what makes fighting other mesmers so easy lately.

Eh, in WvW, there isn’t much in the way of honorable duels.
you either get a friendly or unfriendly add, 2 or 3 hapless animals, a couple drakes or wolves, or a 70 man zerg that rolls through your location.
So if I see my opponent turn tail and run, I assume its a 70 man zerg about to roll by and I just run a different direction he went and call it a draw.
If they did say ‘we are aware of the issues and are looking into it’, do you honestly believe that people would stop posting / whining about the same thing on a daily basis?

But what if they said “We’re open to ideas, but parts A, B, and C are not going to be open to change. What can we do to parts D and E to make this work better?”, they might get more useful feedback.

As a proud owner of a full ascended zerker set I was sad and mad about the nerfs.
But then it hit me.
Ferocity is now an actual stat right? So create a new stat set that uses it as a primary stat! Same with foods. We need foods that have Ferocity as the primary stat.
Oh and give a 1 time choice to anyone with a Berserker ascended item (trinket / armor / weapon) to switch to this new Ferocity-primary stat set. (Fero Power Prec) or to stay as they are
Now no one will be sad or mad!
Alternatively you can just lower the ferocity to crit damage conversion to 12 from 15 to get 1% crit dmg, that would be easier.
