Many of us wouldn’t play WoW for free. I might not even play WoW if they paid me.
Adding a picture of our in game characters would be cool. Get to choose which one to represent.
I’ve been wanting them to add profile pictures forever. I’m so used to just looking at someone’s picture to tell who’s posting from using other sites but I can’t do that here so I normally don’t look at who the poster is at all unless they quoted me. It’s also hard to tell who are regulars because it’s easier to remember a name when it has a face.
i think it will be a good idea, i have a norn warrior and i always thought it will look more savage and barbaric in his bare chest like the mossman form fractals. Also in some models and arts of gw1 norns where showing thier chest too.

I think it would be an excelent idea for some character conecpts
So I am still playing GW1 instead of GW2 these days and we have this Mercenary system there.
Let me explain what that is for those who don’t know what that is.
By having a Mercenary slot in GW1 you would be able to fill 1 slot in your party with one of your own characters.
It would play like any other NPC, except you decide what build he would use and it would use the appearance on how your character actually looks like.
So I was thinking, it would be cool to have something like this in GW2.
But how would that work?
Atleast, it would be nice to find your own characters in your own home instance.
You could communicate with them and they would respond depending on their personality, race and choices they made.
For gameplay you could fill a slot in your party with 1 of your own characters and it would show up in your story missions (perhaps even help in story dungeons but idk how that would work out).
I think this would make playing story missions less lonely (think most people do them alone), and it would also add some kind of roleplaying elements in the game.
Thoughts?
I would love this so much. It has been something I think they said they didn’t want to do in development but maybe that has changed over time.
Anyway, it would be a lot of fun.
I haven’t played GW1 which I’m sure I missed out because of that.
This idea sounds cool though, I prefer playing solo, having one of my own characters tagging along would probably be really fun.
As a game that focuses on horizontal progression I think we need a bit more fashion in our fashion! Here are a few suggestions, changes and ideas.
1. Light, Medium, Heavy skins.
There have been many suggestions about this in the past and the most common reply was “Light can’t wear medium or heavy because it will blurr out the classes in pvp/wvw etc”.
Currently we have costumes, culling and the simplified models so why couldn’t we allow ALL the skins for ALL the classes?
Lorebreaking? Lets talk about some costumes and skins…
Breaking the lore has never really been an issue with stuff beeing added into the game as long as its fun!
Having all the armors available would give everyone 3 times the ammount of skins to work with, so many new possibilities, options, etc.
Light classes would finally have pants, heaviens woudn’t be too clunky, female could be not as skimpy or even more skimpy and mediums could get rid of trench coats! This would also open many possibilites for role players.
2. Real clothes
We have caps, glasses, puff hats, top hats etc. Why not vests, shirts, jeans, pants, skirts etc? Town clothing as armor? No one uses the tonics of the sets, why not making it normal armors?
3. History!
Where did the time go?
So in GW1 we had a lot of elegant clothing for mesmers, elementalists, skintight necromancer sets, interesting monk and ranger gear. And almost all of those styles dissapeared. Thats a true shame!
Mesmers 250 years ago would wear suits, white shirts, vests, elegant armor etc and now they are left with a bra or a skinny dress. I understand that fashion changes overtime but some people like to wear vintage!
Adding the old guild wars 1 armors would be awesome!
Lore-wise? Explosion of Lions Arch unburried some old archives with blueprints etc that Evon Gnashblade sold to armor-makers and now the old styled armors are back!
4. Culture
We need more culture. All of the races have been in Tyria for many many years, except the sylvari. I am pretty sure they did develope more culture than 9 armor sets each? Adding more of it would definitely make it more itneresting. Also allowing other races to wear all of the cultural sets (maybe with some reputation system you can gain with races – a bit like in gw1).
5. Costumes?!
I think recently we’ve gotten too many costumes, with even more datamined and too little actual armor sets. Costumes are awesome, and they have as amny fans as enemies. But I think replacing armor sets with costumes is a bad move. We didnt get a new armor set for months now.
6. Acquisition
I think we need new and interesting ways of getting armor sets. It doesn’t have to be difficult or extremely tedious, but making it interesting.
Currently we have the glorious armor set that is somehow unique for pvp players and that is amazing! Adding more armor sets like this is a great thing to keep players occupired in the goal of getting an armor set… or several.
Few ideas:
WvW based armor sets – 2k Badges of Honor and 50 ranks per armor piece. So at 50 you unlocked gloves at 100 boots, 150 shoulders, 200 hat, 250 pants, 300 shirts.
Random drops from JPs (account bound!)
Guild Commodations – 1 piece for 10 commodations.
Zone-related armors perhaps?
Summary
I think we need more armor sets. We’ve been getting way too many weapons and too little armors!
Yeah. Bring back scar and tattoo armour. Heck, for Asura, you could have Magitech tattoos that have flowing magical energy so they look like circuits.
Yes! A whole series of Persian-inspired light armours would be great!
I am really surprised they haven’t made any adjustments to the “followers” list yet. The other forums I’ve seen discussing it have been closed.
I enjoy playing GW1 & GW2 alone or with 3-5 friends of mine that may be online. Every once in a while I’ll meet another player I enjoy chatting with and add them to friends.
What I can’t stand is being in a dungeon party then every day for the next 3 weeks getting a message “want to do ac? how about coe?”. Then there is the “how can i get ap!?”. And finally the “why don’t you respond to me?” messages from people I don’t even know.
I am sorry but why is there a “stalker list” in this game since launch and no one thought it was a bad idea? How can it be a good idea? If someone wants to “friend me” send me a message and ask my permission please to allow them to see/talk/whisper me. Personally I would like it if no one could whisper me unless they were in my party or same zone instance and no one should ever be able to see where I am, what I am doing, or any other statistics about me unless I allow it.
Earlier this year I quit playing for 3 months primarily because I’ve been burnt out not knowing what direction this game is heading but also because I was tired of having to login to a game where people were constantly bugging/trying to compete with me if I was not “offline” at which point my friends could not message me. Now I’ve recently started playing again and it is starting all over.
I don’t mind helping people. If you post in map chat you need something I’ll come find you if I’m free and no one else has addressed your issue. If someone has something legitimate you want to ask like “that armor is cool where did you get it?” I’ll answer, but I don’t want people messaging me, competing with me, or thinking that I have time to spend with them on a daily basis for whatever. Sorry but I enjoy playing alone, GW2 is nothing more than an extension of GW1 to me – not an MMO for socialization and leader board competition.
Please consider making adjustments to this system to allow for more privacy for your players. I’d begun adding all “followers” to the block list but that not only feels rude but there is/was a cap on the number of players I could block?! Something as simple as a “request to become a follower” or the ability to remove people from the followers list would be amazing….

As long as i get my speedo I’m good. Ladies watch out!
LOL!
not really if they make the suits outfits like the costumes where it goes over your armor and if you want you just have to hide it to get your armor back. if they made it that way then they wouldn’t have to change the wardrobe and we could customize the colors on it.
Bikinis and speedos. Sweet. Thumbs up.
Two words: Man… Kini
make it happen.
I suggested a while back that we needed swim suits in underwater combat, that it look totally unnatural to be in full heavy armer underwater. I alway thought that it would be cool to change to a swimsuit skin when you enter the water but you keep all your armer stats.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Suit is what you mean not suite. Different words with different meanings.
Just letting you know.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
for one of outfits can you guys put in swim suits. kinda makes me jealous of the npcs on south sun cove having swim wear while we are stuck with plain wear that every one has. it would be nice to have a unique one for each race and then be able to change its colors. thumbs up with me if you wanna see swim suits
- thumbs up *

It’d be nice to have more armor options that show the glowy Sylvari parts we already have. Or Charr fur patterns for that matter.
I see that you really have something against glowing?
I remember my necro from GW1 which I made with some dark skin and red/orange tattoos. It looked like some devils spawn…and I think it would looked even better if those scars had a little glow added to them.
I’d buy that for a dollar!
…
Sorry, had to.
Armour, outfit, whatever. Make scar/tattoo armours happen please!
I don’t like outfits because they killed one of the great ideas AN had – to recognize class right when you see it and not through first skills it uses. And now it’s impossible.
I’d like to have scars as a armor. Like in GW1. I personally don’t care that my medium and heavy armored chars won’t be using it. If AN would do it right then all classes could have it…I know they can do this.
Yes! Scars! That was really great thing in GW1. It’s a really shame that they didn’t brought them into GW2.
And tattoos was good too.
Make them an ingame reward for the love of Balthazaar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Earn your gold in game, convert to gems and purchase it. There.
I don’t PvP (WvW, whatever), so if this was in response to something going on there then let this change only happen there. If I’m in a PvE map, dungeon, etc. it is very inconvenient. I want to be able to see a mob that is low health so I might rally. Or see what my party members are doing in a dungeon, etc.
Its really lame.
We had this death camera before. ANET removed it because it was trash. ANET has put it back in the game with the NPE patch. Odds of re-removal? Slim. It’s probably in the chineese client, and they want to keep the code bases as similar as possible…
ANET – making GW2 a worse game, one patch at a time.
Let me choose a party member to watch carry on the battle, instead of just staring at my dead corpse. Good idea.
They already have this in the arenas, so it shouldn’t be too hard for them to implement in PvE.
I’m hoping this is a bug, as it really is quite irritating
