Haven’t played through the whole Episode 4, but on the map, I have noticed a significant change to the way NPC reacted to invading parties, in a positive ways, they don’t stand around doing nothing and are actually defending. Which is really good.

Minor suggestion:
Please can we have a folder/pocket/“key ring” for all the teleport scrolls we are collecting?

One item could open a dialog. The same used by the teleport NPCs (Lava Lounge etc.). With the unlocked locations/scrolls only:

Gaile, if your being held hostage by “the cat”, just wave 3 times to any player in game. I am sure someone can hide you out in their guild hall until it’s safe. ;-)

I think I’ll be ok. After all, I control the Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers supply, as kitty has not figured out how to open the pantry door or pop a can lid.

I want rabbits, lots and lots of rabbits! And while we are at it, why no ranger pet rabbits? In beta I got my butt handed to me by a rabbit and I would love to see a rabbit pet turn around and kick an enemy backwards. Rabbit kick knock backs for the win! And rabbit mini pets? Yeah, I know we have the jackalope but in GW1 we had honest to goodness rabbit minis, brown, white and celestial! I could turn in to a rabbit with my rabbit potion and run around with my pet rabbits, it was epic! We need more rabbits.

Why do I feel like i want a salad or a carrot now?

Because ArenaNet kitten loves kittens and decided to kitten players who are allergic to kitten cats by kitten adding only kitten kitten for the kitten home instance

P.S. I didn’t use swear words, I inserted all the kittens myself. Kitten awesome, right? (runs away traumatized by too many cats occupying my home)

I’d like to make some constructive comments on the story aspects of this episode (and some apply to other most recent episodes, as well).

The power spike of NPCs was really strange in this episode. For one, I find it odd that other mesmers have all these super powerful skills that we, as players, do not (at least not yet): Anise, Jennah, and Valette can all portal seemingly wherever they want, Jennah can murder people with a snap of her fingers, white mantle mind stab creates multiple attacks. I also find it strange that this episode had so many mesmers.

I’m really disappointed in the evolution of Dragon’s Watch. I loved DE 2.0, so seeing it shattered like this and seeing my character being kind of a jerk to folks like Marjory is just weird.

My biggest gripe with the last couple of episodes is the abrupt endings. Braham declares he is going to crack Jormag’s tooth. We get a cinematic of him doing just that. And then the “Episode complete” box pops up and we’re standing in a cave alone in silence. This thread is completely ignored this episode. Cracking the tooth is a big, big deal, especially for a Norn PC.
Similarly, this episode we find out Lazarus might not actually be really Lazarus. We talk about it with Canach shortly and then… that’s it, it’s over. I get that these are short stories, but, imo, the endings need some work to feel less jarring.

Soo… Caudecus had a crush or were in love with Logan?
At the ending you and Canach went upstairs and were talking about a portait of Logan hanging in the office…

I wish we could’ve seen more about this,

So, now we know that Lazarus is not truly Lazarus. So, who is powerful enough to be such a pretender? Personally I’d say it could be a seer. A powerful creature that knows enough about Mursaat to pose as one of them. Also, a seer could be interested in aiding the 5 races of Tyria like in GW1 a seer helped humans.

Thank you for final fight changes

SpellOfIniquity.1780

EDIT: Thank you for the changes to the final fight. By the looks of the patch notes, it will be much more bearable. The following post was how I felt prior to the changes and is no longer relevant.

As someone who enjoys challenging content. Someone who intentionally plays vanilla builds in WvW/PvP because she both genuinely prefers the vanilla builds and because she enjoys that it makes fights more difficult. And someone who is always most interested in video games that don’t hold your hand (a Dark Souls/Soul series veteran, Dragon’s Dogma lover, Act Raiser and Super Meat Boy fan)…

That final fight and a number of other fights in the Living World stories prior to this one was awful (yes, I believe “was” is grammatically correct).

It is not difficult. It’s artificial difficulty and it’s nothing short of obnoxious. There’s no way to avoid/negate every CC that’s thrown at you unless you build full tank. In which case the fight will take all day and even then, I’m sure you’ll still get slapped around like an Irish nanny at least a couple times.

A challenging encounter is when you immediately recognize your mistakes and learn from them. Either you understand what punished you or you allow yourself to be hurt again so you can observe and memorize the tells.

Having so much crap thrown at you that it becomes a matter of RNG whether you’re hurt or not isn’t difficulty. It’s artificial difficulty and that’s the worst kind because it doesn’t make you a better player. Maybe some people will enjoy it but they won’t approach the fight differently the second time.

I appreciate that Guild Wars 2 is a free to play game and that there’s so much quality content. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game, but fights like this have to stop… Enough with the CC spam, very few people like it and no one gets better by being exposed to it.

I legitimately cringe at the thought of future Living World bosses because of how consistently bad they’ve been. The new maps, the story, visuals, everything is great but holy mother of Grenth, please consider not turning your dear Tyrians in to pin balls… Especially as someone who has been a Necromancer for the last 3 years, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, I’ve had plenty enough of being knocked around, thanks.

Too add. Raid bosses are actually fun yet difficult. they should carry the design mentality of raid bosses into solo content.
There is also an issue for someone like me who is Australian and as such, has Australian net. no matter how fast I can react. ping eats any chance. so bosses should be designed with this in mind since not everyone has super fast internet.

This is fine. GW2 is out for quite awhile now. It’s like anet saying " Time to grow up boysssss~". I’d rather have this fight than an easy one that i won’t even feel any sense of satisfaction beating. Like the old boss fights where you just stand there, dodge sometimes , whoops i got hit time to heal i guess kind of battles. This is way better. Keep it up anet.

Except after having just beat this boss, I don’t feel any sense of achievement at all. In fact, the feeling I get is anger and “Who the hell thought this was a good encounter”. There is a fine line between a good and hard encounter vs an annoying sponge fight. Caudecus is on the very extreme end of the annoying side. If they removed the chain CC and instead added an expanding AoE beacon you must kill, then the fight would a lot more fun and challenging than annoying and long.

I honestly have no interest in running this episode on my alts because that was incredibly annoying.

This is NOT A L2P issue. This is a POOR ENCOUNTER issue. Do you know what players hate the most in any game (for combat)? losing control of their character.

So after all these years, Anet gave us closure on that mysterious and freaky secret room in Caudecus’s manor with this latest LS chapter. That the comment posted by Josh Foreman on the room’s discovery and its intended purpose turned out to be true, 4 years later. Makes me wonder if Anet planned the whole story arc from the start, or if it was just an elegant way to bring back that room and use it. Nevertheless, it’s really cool for us old timers to see something old and discarded as a map break turn out to be future content

You’ve got massive spoilers in the title and post, put a tag up.

Anywho, it seems pretty obvious they knew the end to this story before launch. I mean we all sort of knew he was WM, it’s just to what extent. I don’t know if they reused this asset or if it was planned, neither would surprise me.

This was a really nice surprise.

My guess is that they’ve had a general idea of how this plot would play out since they were building the original game. Like the sylvari and Mordremoth.

They probably didn’t know all the details or the timing, I’d be very surprised if before launch they planned 4+ years of storylines but I’d also be surprised if they hadn’t known that sooner or later we’d confront Caudecus again and get to investigate further into his house than the dungeon allowed us to go.

Instead of using the inventory search (text) box, I’d like to be able to hold down a key to see item name tags displayed for all items (not full descriptions like in a mouse-over, just the item title). I’ve played MMOs in the past that had this kind of function and it was extremely helpful. I find using the text box for searches to be cumbersome and annoying, although it has its moments.

I find that, generally, chat and other keyboard commands in GW2 are lacking compared to some of the MMOs I’ve played. Like, I can’t believe there’s no way to inspect someone’s gear.

1. Show how much is left for launcher/patcher. Number of files means nothing, give us MegaBytes left so we can know how much time is left.

2. Have a way to save builds for pvp so you can quickly/easily switch between them. I use a ranger trapper and druid healer but switching between them is a pain. Make it something you can buy in the TP if you have to.

3. Remove durability. It costs nothing to fix it anymore.. so why even have it. Having to run to the anvil to click to repair is just a pointless task. When it starts costing money then yes it should be in. Till then please remove it.

I think my Mesmer is cool and I love the purple fire animation when he uses his magic. (The butterflies not so much, but I get the theme) The purple is actually great as it is the color of Magical locations throughout the world. However I would love to be able to purchase the ability to have an additional animation that goes with his chronomancer specialization. He has moved from Mesmer illusion magic to mastering time and reality magic, perhaps a new animation that could go with it?

Lets talk about roleplay for a second.

Its definately got its place in guild wars 2, with two commited servers (TC America and Piken EU) being its primary capitals of attention.

But while it exists, it gets some, but not alot of love in the long term aside from outfits and cosmetics which dont really apply to roleplay alone but more a greater “fashion” fiesta kind of thing.

But for us roleplayers thare is a glaring issue that needs addressing and hopefully can find a way to be dealt with in the distant future, be it in a future episode, or a future expansion.

We need Sittable Seats!

I mean, when we got new emotes it was great, and we always look forwards to more, but theres one thing a roleplayer hates more than anything, not being able to sit in a chair.

Its a comical and whimpering frustration when your trying to adjust your character to fit into a seat that just doesnt blend for them especially when some sit emotes take up an entire double-bench (Human females, im looking at you).

So heres my suggestion:

Seat, 2.0!

Lets talk about how Seats could work in the future, this is my idea for such a thing:

Instead of a simple case of click on seat and get into seat, we could actually make this into something a bit deeper and more interesting. Basically, you can essentially get into a seat slot where a bench might have 2 slots, a single seat has one slot, and a row of seats might have… four slots.

You can select which slot you sit in, by right clicking on it in a sub-menu to the left, which also confers a small sub menu of its own.

This sub-menu features the following:

Postures
Actions
Expressions

This bit is a bit ambitious, but lets just go with Postures being possible for now.

Postures, would be your characters actual posture while sitting, are they sitting legs open, legs closed, one leg over the other, are they leaning back with an arm against the sofa, or with ther hands behind their back.

Actions

This is a bit more advanced, this one, is an emotive menu, allowing you to choose an emote and activate it, doing so causes your char to play an emote, you can also set it to loop if you wish, periodically continueing over time.

This could feature eating, drinking, talking, shouting, thrashing angrily and so on and so forth.

Expressions

The biggest stretch considering the models and how hard it would be, this would take alot of work and is unlikely to fit in, unlike the other two.

Expressions would allow you to literally change your characters facial posture while sitting in a seat, such as looking happy, sad, angry, shocked, surprised, etc.

What about leaving the Seat?

Leaving the seat is easy, the game simply adjusts you slightly so your spawned back at the nearest point next to a table if there is one to spawn at, such as a hidden spawn point next to a floor tile.

This allows people to easily mount and dismount seats without getting clipped into walls or unable to leave.

Conclusion:

I think this could work, at least the posturing could definatley work, and the actions, maybe as a bonus, expressions, I admit is a stretch.

But come on A-net, we’ve waited years, we need a seat we can actually sit in.

Also, new emotes are always welcome, including additional sit emotes in general.

My guess for the true reason for the delay.
