They exist in the lore world they just aren’t show in the game world.

If you hang out by the D.R gates to Queensdale, you’ll hear Seraph talking about the centaurs and their relations to horses.

“Horses are for riding, who would want a pet that can speak?”

I always assumed they are not present because it would make the Human’s too strong, if they had access to large numbers of cavalry.

I just think of all the battles and happenings in GW1 and picture the humans with a large cavalry force as well. Suspect things may have turned out quite differently.

honestly judging by all the hostile monsters packed in all the continents I don’t see much room for passive creatures. they get eaten.
I’m guessing the humans are bogarting some for their cavalry “charges”.

They all achieved spiritual elevation to reach the horse paradise which they call The Running Dream. There, they can run endlessly on infinite lands made of the softest grass without ever being tired. They can be summoned back on Tyria for a brief moment by using a mystical trans-universe apparatus named The Dreamer.

If deer can compete in this world then horses should have no problem. Of course they seem to be extinct so something else was a factor.

I blame the Charr.

They were just normal horses which behaved like simple herd herbivores, eating grass and running for their lifes at the slightest sign of danger.
That survival strategy is ok in our planet, were most animals are slower than horses, and were predators are happy with just hunting when hungry.
But typical animals in Tyria don’t behave that way. They are VICIOUSLY AGGRESIVE and SUICIDAL VENGEFUL.
Most probable reason for the extinction of horses is they were anihilated by those terrifying, jealous, murdering deer.

I’m guessing, as someone said, they went extinct with the sinking of Orr, or my theory is that simple animal like a horse would not have the means to survive much in a world where even the bees are the size of dogs, they have no means of defense to the more crazy predators around. We still have Does though, which my guess is would be extinct soon enough as well, as you don’t see them that much around.

They’re not something like a Dolyak for example, with big size, herd mentality and huge horns. Rabbits and other small critters are small and can easily hide. That’s what I think at least. We got Cows in Queensdale but they are protected by humans.

Horses aren’t popular in Tyria because no one can get in the saddle. Horses are too high on their legs to jump onto, and no one has figured out how to use their hands for climbing yet, instead using the popular ‘mountain goat’ style of ascending steep things.

This absolutely murdered me.

Horses were alive and chilling in some plains in one of the books. This was long after the sinking of Orr and around the time just before the events of GW2. They were described as normal horses but not much thought was given to them before the story moved on.

That was just likely the author forgetting (or not knowing) about all those tiny world peculiarities.

In general, we do know that horses existed at some point. We’re pretty much sure, that they are extinct now.
One of the running theories is that they came to this world alongside humans, and just didn’t survive the transition too well.

Actions, not words.

My only complaint is that they are way too big for shoulders, can we maybe get the default size that we see on the original outfit?

They’re too big on the asura model currently, but the ones I get from the outfit are perfect.

so much this. seriously. if they were the same size as the outfit I’d be more inclined to consider them, but as is, no way.

Option to buy parts as armor skins – agreed.

I really appreciate what they did with Braham’s Wolfblood Pauldrons.

Because outfits aren’t armor and ANet is selling stuff in the gem store to pay their bills?

I already paid their bill, don’t act as if they’re giving me free stuff. it’s not like they created a unique asset.

Do you expect a business to give you free stuff because you bought something from that business before? Would you go to a clothing store, buy a shirt and then say the next shirt should be free because parts of the other shirt looks similar to the one you bought?

ANet is a business. They may be selling pixels but the gems store is where they are making their day to day money. They aren’t going to hand out free items, no more than a brick and mortar store will hand you free stuff. They both have bills to pay.

They are not similar shirts; they’re the same exact item, please don’t try analogies ever again.

They’re not giving me everything for free. I already have the kitten item except I’m restricted from using only parts of that item separately until I pay an extra 300 gems.

I’ve maxed out bank tabs, unlimited character slots, character bags on 7 toons, permanent airship pass, 4 unlimited tools, and have bought several outfits and weaponskins. Don’t you come here and talk down to me as if I don’t support this game financially and just want free stuff.

Do you know of any business where they give items away to people once they’ve bought one of that item before or do they charge for each and every thing that is bought, similar or not.

And no, a piece of armor and an part of outfit are not identical. They are superficially similar in appearance but one is part of a statless onesie and the other is an armor skin made to fit over 3 different meshes with stats and the location of the dye channels is different between an outfit and armor

ANet is still a business selling things through the gemstore. Just because someone buys something similar doesn’t mean ANet will give away another item for free. Like all businesses, anet has bills to pay.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

How about another button beside the “Sell Junk” and “Sell” buttons on merchant panels for “Sell Minor”, which of course sells all minor runes and sigils to the vendor.

Or just have an options box that lets us select to include minor runes and sigils when we sell junk.

Thanks for your consideration.

To be honest, I don’t like being forced to play nice with Charr and forget about Ascalon.

I’d love to be from the Gwen school of kill them all and take Ascalon back.

Gwen the elder was a miserable person (with cause, the ‘best’ or perhaps the worst). I’m surprised Thack the Elder stuck with her long enough to let her less vitriolic self come through. Good thing for the future of humans in Tyria, too. Life with the charr seems preferably to extinction.

Nah, my hero roundly wiped them out in droves. Would have been happy to oblige and carry out the genocide of the Charr with my ritualist
