Maybe look at gw2’s front page where they explain diff classes…And they say the following about warrior…

Warriors are masters of weaponry who rely on speed, strength, toughness, and heavy armor to survive in battle. Adrenaline fuels their offensive power—the longer warriors stay in a fight, the more dangerous they become.

did you read that.. ? They rely on S P E E D.

Warriors don’t need to be built for mobility to still be faster than most classes. Any warrior with a a sword and an off-hand war horn can outrun most other classes.

Sure:

- If the necromancer doesn’t use Shroud #2 (shadow step), or interrupt the leaps with fear/chill/immob/cripple

- If the Elementalist doesn’t use shadow step, RTL or the fire charge, or FGS whirl. Not to mention cripples/immobs/chills/interrupts

- If the guardian doesn’t use their shadow steps.

- If the thief doesn’t use their shadow steps or spammable interrupts/immobilize.

- If the mesmer doesn’t use their shadow steps/cripple/immob/interrupts.

- If the ranger doesn’t use their leaps/cripple/chills/immob/interrupts.

- If the engineer doesn’t use their leaps/cripple/chills/immobs/interrupts.

If you chose to run a build that is low on mobility, you WILLINGLY traded mobility for increased damage or healing or support. Case and point.

If you chose to use your important skill cooldowns at non optimal times, that is your mistake. Learn to use them optimally after identifying the enemy build.

A warrior that built for mobility CHOSE to TRADE AWAY damage or healing or support, TO BE MOBILE.

- A hammer/longbow warrior has no mobility.
- A mace+anything/hammer warrior has no mobility
- A mace+anything/rifle warrior has no mobility.
- A axe+anything/hammer warrior has no mobility.
- A axe+anything/rifle warrior has no mobility.

You’re picking out a single build that is BUILT for mobility, and complaining because YOU CHOSE not to build for any mobility yourself.

5 out of the 8 classes have shadow step.

Warrior is not one of them.

Shadow step has no soft or hard counter. You also can’t tell when they’re going to use it, you also cant see the direction they’re going to use it. And when they DO use it, you need to find them again.

Leaps/charges have a HEAP of soft/hard counters:

- Chill (can’t leap/charge as far)

- Cripple (can’t leap/charge as far)

- Immobilize (If applied before, cannot move, if applied during, stops all movement)

- Interrupts (Stops movement) (Fear/daze/stun/knockback, TONNES of RANGED application of these as well)

- And you CAN SEE the direction the warrior is facing BEFORE he uses his skill.
- And you CAN SEE the direction he is moving in when he uses it.
- And you CAN FOLLOW the direction they go in, because unlike shadow steps, your eyes are still on them.

Thief has perma stealth, perma evasion, and heaps of shadow steps. All 3 of these have no soft counter and no hard counter. Whilst they are still doing a plethora of damage/healing/support. Is that not overpowered to you? Biased? Hypocrisy?

Mobility warriors are not broken or overpowered.

They are a weak build.

They are a selfish build.

Yes they can move well, but they are also easily countered.

And you’re just upset because you chose not to bring your own mobility, every class has it. And you chose not to use your important cool downs effectively.

Stop beating this dead horse.

This is intended to give a free cleansing Ire. Greatsword should be a utility weapon like the bow. The GreatHamsword will be mobile but it lacks range capabilities. While the Hambow lacks mobility.

if you want to fix the warrior, you have to start from the ground-up.

I don’t understand why you think that warrior is so broken that you have to fix warrior from the ground-up. Do you play warrior at all?

In fact I would say warrior is the embodiment of good RPG design. Why? it encourages experimentation. With a warrior you really just need CI + 10 to 15 in Discipline to get warrior’s sprint and maybe fast hand. Other than that everything else goes. Some are more effective than others, but none are very terrible. If you just look around the warrior forum, you will know that the number of warrior build is just staggering.

In almost all RPGs I play there are perhaps 1 to 2 meta builds per class. You can in theory try other builds, but they are just so bad that they get destroyed instantly.

I also don’t feel Warrior is OP, as base on my experience, I get destroyed as much as I have destroyed. But the biggest thing is that as a warrior I can always survive a while so that I feel like I am contributing to something. I cannot say that playing as other classes.

I would say Anet should try to give other classes the same options.

While I’ll never argue against more options, I’ve been able to easily get the dailies through PvE alone. Could you please give us an example of a problematic day for you and tell us which ones don’t fit with your playstyle ?

Going with todays dailies:
– Condition applier. Even with power builds I can’t avoid completing this one.
– Leveler. Easy. Just stick to one character for a bit.
– Gather. A few seconds out of the way while I’m doing open world stuff. Maybe 5 minutes if I stick to gathering alone.
– Fractals: I can understand not getting this one if you don’t like FOTM.
– Recycler: This takes 1 minute at most. Buy some cheap fine/masterwork items on trading post, salvage them for more luck.
– Events. Another easy one

That’s 5 dailies that are easily obtained through PvE, plus the fractal one. So I’m not seeing your problem.

Hey guys, just wanted to give you guys an updated version of the Zerker Axe/Shield, GS build. Compared to the previous build, nothing has changed much. I’ve simply taken the last 2 traits out of tactics and have put them in arms for fury uptime and higher base crit chance, rune change from melandru to hoelbrak (more might uptime) while still maintaining -condition duration, adding in Sigil of air, strength and battle for more damage to make up for the ferocity changes. Also, I lately been run 2 stabilities so I can get more stomps often. Just wanted to shed some light on this build. Hope you guys enjoy the video.

Please put a small copper value on Dragonite Ore, Bloodstone Dust, and Empyreal fragments!!

These things drop at such an insane rate, that, even after crafting 140 Bloodstone Bricks, 90 Dragonite Ingots, and 40 Empyreal stars, I have 1,000 of each material in my Collection tabs.. I am SURE that I am not the only person who wishes that I could at LEAST vendor these mats to a Merchant.. Even if it was ONLY for like 7 copper per item..

7 Copper.. is not that much, its only 17s50c per STACK!

Well Berserkers Stance and Signet of Stamina will help immensely with condition cleansing. Also blinds only make one attack miss. If multiple attacks are missing then you are in a blinding field and you should move.

If you are having trouble with blinds it’s a learn to play issue (as much as I hate that phrase).

Also longbow f1 burst skill lands even with blind, cleansing skills and removing blind.

Blinds is not a L2P issue, it is a warrior’s bane more then anything else.

That being said, Zerk stance and SoS really are great v conditions. Just be sure to not just push the zerk stance at the start. Try to either;
-time it to nullify your opponents condi bomb, or
-time it to ensure your own burst hits (against D/P thieves for instance).

I only state my opinion unless stated otherwise.

Even with Melandru + Leek Soup + Cleansing Ire + Berserker Stance, conditions from a full condition build is still hard to deal with, believe it or not, even as a warrior.

Blinds can be a problem for a warrior sometimes, especially if you are a full melee spec against a class like a thief who can blind you at will and kite you to death. However, most classes don’t have a whole lot of access to blinds so me personally I don’t consider it a huge issue. Just use an auto attack then use Cleansing Ire. I am confused when you say blind spam because Thieves are the only class that can do that.

If you are fighting a class like a Mesmer, a good way to clear conditions is to use your burst on their clones, even if it means getting 1-2 conditions applied back at you. At least you would have multiple stacks of confusion, torments, bleeds, etc removed. Or if fighting an engi and they have dropped supply crates, use your burst on the turrets.

Also if you are using Mace/Shield + GS, consider traiting reflect missiles, it helps deal with the problem of classes kiting while attacking you from ranged. You also have be very aggressive sometimes (although that may be hard to do). Keeping your opponent pressured and on the defensive can help tone down some of the condi pressure he can apply back at you. Of course however against classes like Thieves and Mesmers that is easier said than done. And always be weary of especially torment and confusion on you. Sometimes it is better just not to move while inflicted with torment. And of course it is especially better not to attack while having multiple stacks of confusion.

Also consider using a weapon in which it is easier to condi cleanse via Cleansing Ire, like a Hammer or a Longbow.

Ideas for Massive Changes to WvW

in WvW

Posted by: The Lethe.2953

The Lethe.2953

These are some ideas for massive game changes for WvW. Credit goes to BAITness.1083 for the post that sparked this one.

Idea #1. Multi-World Teams
Goal: Keep world scores closer and more dynamic by combining the scores of worlds from multiple tiers.
Note* Akkadian posted this idea. It would require some big UI changes.

Fights take place over 3 tiers, involving 9 servers. The green server in t1 would be teamed up with the red server in t2 and the blue server in t3. The blue server in t1 would be teamed up with green in t2 and red in t3. The red server in t1 would be teamed up with blue in t2 and green in t3.

They are not all fighting on the same maps, mind you, the only real “teaming up” is from their scores. The servers still only fight in their tiers, but the winner at the end of the week is the team with the highest score. This allows every match to matter, every server to have a chance at first, and every server push to have an impact.

Idea #2. Desperation World Buff
Goal: Keep world scores closer and more dynamic by instituding a buff for losing worlds akin to the outmanned buff, emabling points upon capturing an objecive.

When the 3rd place world falls more than 15k points behind the 2nd place world, the Desperation World Buff activates. (similar to the outmanned buff) The buff, will grant your world points for every objective captured, just like in edge of the mists. This will enable worlds that have fallen behind to organize major comeback from behind. It is a major morale booster to make up 10k points in a day. Most matches are decided by Monday or Tuesday. This buff would allow for matches to swing on a Thursday. The point at which the buff would activate and deactivate is up for debate. (Set point difference, or percentage is ok too) The amount of points earned for capturing is also up for debate too.

Idea #3 Off-Season Rewards
Goal: Reward players for fighting for first even during the off seasons.

The reward tickets should not be restricted to only the tournaments. Grant 5 tickets for 1st place, 3 tickets for 2nd place, and 1 ticket for 3rd. Make the ticket reward bound to completion of at least 5 daily wvw activities per week.

Idea #4. Shorter and Regular Seasons
Goal: High rewads, less burnout.

Make the seasons run 5 weeks. No breaks between seasons.

There was a huge amount of downtime between seasons and WvW really died down during that time. The seasons have brought out the best and the worst in players. The 2v1’s are truly nasty with some serious venom coming out on the forums, that is creating a seriously toxic environment. With the shorter seasons and constant restarting of seasons, it enables a lot of changes to occur and prevents players from becoming too attached to the success or failure of a season. Season 1 ended with the implosion of SoR due to early season failures and many people abandoned hope knowing they could not recover to take 1st no matter how hard they played over the next 4-5 weeks. The same situation is starting to present itself but even worse with a 9 week season. This presents a dangerous situation for the current 2v1’s in both NA and EU. The toxic environment brewing in WvW is not healthy for the worlds or game as a whole.

Once again most of these are not my ideas, I can’t take credit, but I think they are worth talking about, and getting the Dev’s to talk internally about. (and posting here to mention that they showed other dev’s the post)

Blind vs. Warriors

in Profession Balance

I just wanted to point out just how poorly designed Black Powder specifically and Blind spam in general is balanced in this game.

Blind essentially negates a hit that would otherwise be a successful attack. It wastes the cooldown and is in all cases a very powerful mitigation mechanic. It is something that could be applies every 10-20 seconds in a balanced environment, but it can’t be something that is spammed non stop.

It’s especially problematic when combined with Thieves because you need a successful attack in order to clear the blind effect. And hitting a stealthed target is a matter of luck. Classes that rely almost exclusively on physical melee damage have virtually NO WAY of ever hitting a semi-competent Thief who uses Black Powder and Shadow Shot in a sensible manner. Nada.

Berserker Stance gives you 8 seconds of condition immunity and thus a break from the constant blind spa. But those 8 seconds are easy enough to kite/stealth for any Thief, and then it’s back to immunity.

I have both a Thief and a Warrior and I’ve been on both ends of this battle a number of times. Frankly I can’t think of many other abilities that are such a hard-counter to an entire class. If I’m smart enough to avoid Berserker Stance I am virtually immune to any Warrior melee build. It’s really quite a joke.

Blind was conceived….and should be, a situational condition. It should not be something that can be spammed and reapplied every few seconds, especially not by a class that gives you no opportunity to cleanse it.

Agreed – Direct damage requiring three stats (Precision, Power, and Ferocity) vs. Condition Damage’s single stat (Condition Damage) makes it much harder to work with. Power Bunkers have to divert more stats from the Bunker side of the equation than Condi Bunkers do.

I think it’s perfectly fine the way it functions now. If you’re running a condition build it’s simply a matter of playing defensive while it’s up then bursting him after it’s over. The window of opportunity it provides the warrior though could stand to be shortened.

Seems like a way out of using skills effectively and intelligently.

No, it’s a way to avoid losing distance simply because it’s too hard to find that fine-line in a fast moving environment. This would do nothing but clear up clunkiness.

Also, it would actually add some risk/reward. Your reward is obvious but the risk is casting spells you’re still not in range for. It has some give/take.

As i have said before. The damage the conditions do isn’t the problem. It is and always has been the NUMBER of conditions. Conditions shouldn’t be what decides a fight spamming everything you have over and over again until the target runs out of condition removals and dies.

Unless you are built SPECIFICALLY to counter conditions you are going to have a hard time. This is taking runes, traits, sigils and everything else you can to counter them. However, you counter ONE build type but are weak to balanced builds, zerker builds and bunker builds (in that you wont kill them)

Rather than just nerf all conditions, all that needs to be done really, adjust the number of conditions these classes have. I mean look at Ele they have TWO damaging conditions. No matter the weapon, no matter the trait load out they have TWO.

A staff Mesmer with 0/30/10/30 has access to – Bleeding, Blind, Burning, Chill, Confusion, Cripple, Poison, Torment, Vul and Weakness. Now while some of that is RNG based – Poison, Blind and Chill mostly they can EASILY stack the other conditions

This is the kind of thing i am talking about. That is just ONE weapon set. No runeset, no sigils or anything just ONE weapon set and trait load out.

anyone with half a brain knows that condis are an issue in WvW roaming.

even before the patch they were OP, now they are ruling that part with heavy condi/bunker builds, just one small example : +175% bleed duration, just shout loud OP, still i refuse to run a cheasy condi builds.

but also this patch made it easier to deal a bit with them.

i have in the bag a set of armor with Melandru runes and weapons with sigils of Generosity/Purity, i get out of combat, retrait, wear armor/weapons, slot cleanse skills and get back to that heavy condi dude.

but what about the average player ?, with “if you cant beat them, join them” mentality.

also, aren’t we killing diversity in WvW roaming ? with suggestion like run(Melandru / Sunless / Hoelbrak / Resistance) or don’t even bother.

I was having this same discussion with a few people in game. All this latest patch has done is further narrow diversity. Your average player will see a condi build on the forums, “Osicat’s napalm cat” in the mesmer forums is an obvious choice, spec to it and be able to roll over people with veritable ease, because that particular build is quite passive in it’s playstyle, extremely effective and easy to play.

With the addition of 2 x Sigils on Two handers, you can slot a Sigil of Torment + Sigil of Doom for example, as long as you have reasonable precision for rabid gear you’ll get 2 additional s on top of what you are already spamming.

What passed as acceptable condition cleansing before the patch is now subpar. If you are in anyway serious about your PvP you have to build into every single build you use, extensive condition removal. Now if your a power built player, along with the ferocity change you are in an even WORSE position because your severely hampering your offensive capability and killing the burst you need to counter a tank that outdamages you with passive play.

aNet seem to be completely oblivious to this and it’s becoming a state of go conditions or go home.

Yeah but imagine other speccs besides hambow becoming viable.
As someone who plays both types of war bunker in spvp and tried hambow,
my opinion is that HS is kinda high with 0 healing power.

Flat out nerfing it would hurt every war specc just because one is a tad over the top at the moment. IMO it should heal ~80% of its current amount with 0 hp- scaling to ~120% with 643 hp (hp as second stat) and ~135% with 922 (primary stat).

Considering war bunker are still far inferior to guardians or engies, this would tone down builds with focus on cc/damage while opnening up more options for the class as a whole.

It’s all about choice and diversity. Although non-war players might want to see it that way, nobody likes being pidgeonholed into one particular specc because it’s so much better then the next best alternative.

The sad issue is that when a popular build ( hambow) gets nerfed what’ll happen is people will more likely reroll class instead of just switching build.

There’s a reason people play Hambow – it’s effective – people who care about being effective won’t switch to a less effective build – they’ll just reroll to a different class.

The way to open up build diversity is to make other builds desirable – not nerf the one that’s most popular.

Also making HS scale with healing power more will defeat the purpose that the skill was made for.

HS was designed to make non-tanky warriors sturdy ( it does that) while not becoming completely OP on bunker warriors ( it will do that if you make it scale with healing power) – so I don’t see any reason why the skill should be changed since it does what it was intended to do and has also been nerfed. Nerfing it even further will mean there would be no reason to take it.

If HS does need a change – it needs a good active – an active that promotes active use of the skill thus negating the regen for a period and creating skillful play through a trade-off decision.

That’s what Anet said they would do before touching the skill in any way – but what happened was the active was left as is and the passive nerfed.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”
